Been lurking awhile, decided to pop in and say hi, so hi! Some really good information here, very helpful to beginners like me.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). And yes, I am in fact a Brit. Though I would like to distance myself from those posh toffs across the river, us taffs are far nicer people, the sort of people you would be happy to buy a pint for in a pub. Go on, buy a pint for us ;)

That means I am Welsh (taffy is a nickname for welsh people) by the way, definately NOT English (well actually I am 1/4 English but I figure that my left leg is good for nothing so thats probably the english bit)

Just noticed your name here and thought you might like to know I am actually from a tiny fishing village in Wales called the Mumbles.... yes that really is its name.

Heh. Mumbles is my nickname on another forum. Curious, curious indeed...well, I'm woefully American. Especially in spelling--meaning I can't spell a bit. Hurray for the school system!
