I read in the car.
I like to read so the car, in my bed when I am suppose to be going to bed, and when I am suppose to be reading.
Do you read in the car?

Absolutely...it is great when traveling long distances. I will take a throw and a pillow, throw my feet up on the dash and start reading!!!
I often listen to music through my Zune while reading too!

I listen to music as well, but when I really get into the book the music no longer plays. Its liked I zoned out reading a book.
That is when I imagine the story in my head.
And kinda daydream the words as they enter my mind.
My mom can ask me a question and I will never hear her.
She gets mad at me when I do that.

If you can talk on the phone and drive.
You can read a book and drive.
(I am kidding...you should always keep your eyes on the road.)

I have the same problem, and it's the only thing that actually can make me car sick, surprisingly. Even more strange is that I can read on a bus without a problem - go figure! :)

It might be because the bus is a little slower then a car.

I know exactly what you are saying. I will zone out on the music too, when the book is really good. My friends and family just get irritated but whatever... I am going to read when traveling...that's the Chimmy way of making the trip more enjoyable!!! :D

Quite possibly - there's only two things that give me motion sickness, reading in the car and video games with first person POV - both of which disappoint me greatly! :p

MY kids take advantage of when I am in deep thought..or read mood, because we end up stopping somewhere that I don't recall agreeing to. But then I was reading and only answered out of reaction to being asked a question.

I never remember a thing...they get so mad with me..:)

Yeah I answer my mom, but not really answer her.
She usually finds out I was never really listening when she ask a really complex question.
Something like, Where do you want to go?
Cause I'll answer The Oak Forest or something about what I am reading.
:)

Your kids are doing well then. They really know how to get what they want.
lol!

I read in the car from time to time. But I get sick a lot by doing this, and half the time reading in the car plus soft music in the background knocks me out and I'm asleep before I can read another line.

Sometimes I get sick to my stomach and other times it doesn't bother me. I think lighting really contributes to it though cuz I get sick when I strain my eyes. :p

no. I used to sometimes read out loud to others in the car. Kept kids quiet and husband awake on long drives.
Now only when we stop for breaks at scenic look outs.
I spend the drives watching for moose and bear on the sides of the road which usually end up running onto the road as you get close.
Northern Ontario has too much beautiful scenery to be reading while travelling through the area.
It is also a nice quiet time to talk to Don with nobody able to interrupt. well police with ticket books are the exception.

If I'm riding shotgun or backseat, then yes, I love to read while on a long drive. I had a friend who would get wickedly carsick if she attempted to read even small amounts.

I don't and I hope no one else does. Its hard enough with the ipod, cell phone, idiot drivers, pot holes, construction, etc.

If I read in a moving car, I vomit on the seat

But all I do is read on airplanes, and no one ever complains about the smell

I have never thrown up in a car or an airplane........okay once, but that was for a different reason.
The reason was because I didn't read in the car.
If I don't do anything in the car I get sick. Very sick.
