Hey everyone,

I'm Vertz. I live in New Mexico, and I'm going to college at Guilford in North Carolina. Both places are pretty cool, even though there's less to do in NM (where I am now >_>).

I love to write sci-fi, fantasy, and personal narratives. I won the "first year writing contest" at college this semester for a personal narrative. I basically jumped out of my chair when I found out. Most of my teachers have said I write well, but I've never been recognized in a school-wide manner. (I'm trying not to let it go to my head; I have a policy of life-long learning, which includes learning how to write better).

I'm looking forward to being on this forum. A lot of folks at the last forum I joined didn't treat anyone well -- way too much hate going on there. So far, I like the look of this place, and I hope to contribute as much as I can.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum).
