My dad got back from hunting, and he brought a freaking box turtle home with him, hahaha! Omg, I love the little guy so much, he's adorable and really social. We're looking up what to get for the little bugger. Since I work in a pet store, I can get some decent discounts for a few things that'll be needed. My mom suggested putting him in the backyard. Yes, let's lose the slow-moving turtle from our overgrowth of grass. Augh.
The turtle's for my mom, since she loves them for some odd reason. I would've preferred a snake, myself, but my dad would never go near one without screaming like a girl :p
Just thought I'd share this~
Banzai 05-18-2008, 03:28 PM Cool! I want a turtle!
Wreybies 05-18-2008, 03:33 PM Where do you live Kaij? Where I lived Florida, gopher turtles abounded. We had two or three living in the backyard at any given time.
My dad's gone hunting a lot and he said he hardly ever sees any, but this time he saw around four. I live in Ohio.
Banzai 05-18-2008, 03:45 PM Have you named it?
My dad's calling him Hardtop. He says the turtle has a hard top. I want to smack him for his lameness.

Pun names are the worst. :(
My parents have two Labs, one yellow, one chocolate.
Their names are Sandy and Cocoa respectively.
*hangs his head in shame*
Banzai 05-18-2008, 04:16 PM Lol. It's a little amusing. What would you call him?
Crazy Ivan 05-18-2008, 04:18 PM You could always take the Prince route and call him The Turtle Occasionally Known As Hardtop. Or TOKAH for short.
So when do we get to see Tokah on the forum? He sounds like he'd make a great new member. =P
I'd so totally name him Speedy Gonzales, LOL
...Okay, not really. *has her father's lame humor and hits him with a pillow for it* I don't know what the heck to name a turtle, to be honest. I never really wanted an animal that miht live for a hundred freaking years. A quote I told my mom:
Eastern box turtles can live to be more than a hundred years old. Are you freaking kidding me, mom? Screw that, I'm not taking care of your damn pet when you're gone. It's leaving home and venturing the world one slow step at a time!
If I can ever get a good pic of him, I might post it :p

ROTF! :D
Ok, that was good.
Banzai 05-18-2008, 04:25 PM I agree with Ivan. This forum needs more turtles, damnit!
I don't know. A lot of people here seem like turtles too me. A little slow on things.
*leaving the forum for a few hours* XD
Ju-u-u-u-u-ust messing.
Banzai 05-18-2008, 04:37 PM Hehe, hey! I just got that... :p
FoxyMomma 05-18-2008, 05:07 PM I had 2 turtles before I had to get rid of them. They were red eared sliders and they SMELLED horrible. Thier names were Yrtle (ala Dr Seuss) and Myrtle.
Banzai 05-18-2008, 05:14 PM Hehe. Dr Seuss would be proud, foxy :)
Mousie 05-18-2008, 05:18 PM Aw, turtles are so cute! I wish I had a turtle...
Aw, I like the red-eared sliders. They're cute. We had a couple people come in from time to time with one of them. They usually had found them in the wildlife, and we said it'd be better off to set them free, as they were quite young and could carry salmonella.
lessa 05-18-2008, 05:48 PM I like turtles. had many when I was a kid in southern ont.
Well I had lots until a snapping turtle decided to kiss my lip.
Do not let a snapping turtle bite your lip at the age of 5 or you will still
have the scar at age 52.
One major thing to remember about turtles they carry the ecoli bacteria on their skin and feet and shells.
So remember whenever you touch them wash your hands before touching anything else.
I think it is ecoli. but that is one of the major reasons they are not allowed to be sold in pet shops in Canada.
What does your dad hunt for in the spring in Ohio.
Nothing is allowed to be hunted in Ontario until mid August.
Being a hunter I am curious.
Turkeys, I believe are what he had been hunting. He didn't bring anything home, just the turtle.
Banzai 05-18-2008, 07:02 PM Turtle, turkey. They sound fairly similar.
lessa 05-18-2008, 08:32 PM and they both bite.
Gone Wishing 05-18-2008, 08:35 PM I dunno - "Quit jiii-vin' me, turtle," just doesn't have the same ring to it. :p
Domoviye 05-18-2008, 09:45 PM Paint a bolt of lightening on the turtles back, and call it Flash.
It will be the hit of the town.
She heard you first time! :p
She heard you first time!
LOL! That made me crack up laughing XD
I should, but my mom would probably be like, "...Why?" XD
Domoviye 05-18-2008, 10:20 PM If she asks "Why?" answer with "Because."
It can't fail.
Now will this be a double post as well?
Lol! My sister would just love it if somebody brought her home a turtle. She collects all sorts of turtle-related stuff - ornaments, pictures, jewellery...
At least it gives me an idea of what to buy at christmas :D
Banzai 05-19-2008, 04:39 AM Hehe. It'd get confused with all the turtle paraphenalia in her room, poor thing!
Lol... yeah. But... it'd be all cute :D
Her turtle-adoring-ness is rubbing off on me
Banzai 05-19-2008, 04:54 AM Lol. Oh dear... Turtle dominated household :p
You should get me a pet turtle... it can live in my vivarium :D Or is that tortoises...
Banzai 05-19-2008, 05:06 AM *shrugs*
It's a pretty vivarium anyhow :p
I'm also thinking that the moderators a setting a bad example with regard to being a little off-topic... although... turtles are CUTE!!
Oh and I meant to say earlier... I like Dom's idea for naming :D
Banzai 05-19-2008, 05:10 AM Michaelangelo, perhaps?
Oooohhh like it! You could so call it that... or any other of the turtles.
Banzai 05-19-2008, 05:13 AM Lol. Yeah, thats the only one I can remember, too :p
I do remember :P It was raphael, leonardo and Donatello. I probably spelt those all wrong. The last one was purple... that's all I remember...
I didn't watch it much  lol.
Banzai 05-19-2008, 06:45 AM Lol. Moer than me, it seems :p
Well guys, my mom let the turtle into the garden and was checking on him every ten minutes to see if he'd ever move. The next time she checked on him he was no longer there, so I suppose our turtle ran away. I sorta figured it would happen. I mean, putting a turtle into a garden where he's perfectly camouflaged is never a good thing.
Maybe we'll find him again if a lawnmower doesn't.
Banzai 05-22-2008, 01:11 PM Well now there's a disturbing/amusing image...
lol, Banzai.
Who knew turtles could walk so fast when nobody is looking. Shoulda named him 007, the sneak.
Banzai 05-22-2008, 01:16 PM He didn't go anywhere. Don't you know turtles are equipped with personal cloaking devices?
They never mentioned this in those information sheets. Damn them. The humans, not the turtles.
Banzai 05-22-2008, 02:13 PM Or the cloaking devices?
