I like Sims 2 :D

What do you look for in a partner/spouse?

Haha, the Sims 2 is funny.

Anyway, I, as a guy, am shallow and definitely look for looks. :p (sorry to have to admit it!)
Personality is always better though to be honest. Looks and good personality means a lucky catch!

Crim50n

First stand the look and afterwards the personality. I have a girl in my class , she looks good but she is dumer then a block... But when you chose a girldriend , when you fell in love both of those facts are ate the same place.

What do you look for in a partner/spouse?

While I do want someone that is attractive, I'm fine with dating someone who only has average looks if we have a similar sense of humor.

Crazy Ivan

So far? Just someone who's the right gender and orientation. I have yet to succeed.

Well, I've never looked for anything particular. I don't have any ideas of appearance or personality that my spouse should have.

The thing is, I want us to feel comfortable together, like alone but together. I want him to love me more than anything else in the world, and think what's best for me. That's what I do, and in a relationship, I expect the same in return.

Other than that, I just want someone who can really challenge my mind and with whom I can talk about anything and everything there is to talk about.

Personalities and appearances are rather trivial to me if the other person is willing to let me close. :)

Luckily, I'm married to a man who thinks I'm precious. :)

Crazy Ivan
06-22-2008, 09:21 AM
I'd make sure they were there as I did so, but yes, I would. I like doing people favors, because then they owe me. (Aren't I just a kind soul?)

Cogito
06-22-2008, 10:13 AM
I will proofread under certain conditions. If it is a test, or a competitive submission, I won't touch it. But an ordinary assignment, I'll point out SPAG errors, but won't correct them globally. I'll point out sentence and paragraph structural issues, or offer suggestions, but leave the changes for them to do.

I was in team-based classes over the last couple of years, so this is not just hypothetical. We often looked over each other's individual papers for proofing, as well as collaborating on the team projects.

clarethere
06-23-2008, 03:09 AM
I definitely would if they were there and also if they would do the same for me, not just using me for help. I'd tell them spag corrections but otherwise I wouldn't directly say what to change, I'd suggest something like "that paragraph may be confusing because of where it is in the essay" or similar and leave them to it so they can work on it themselves.

Left leg into right pants leg. Right leg into left pants leg. Stop. Frown. Remove pants, my right leg first. Try again with same results. On third try, left leg into left pants leg. Right leg into right pants leg. Stand up. Pull pants up and button closed. Take three steps. Pull pants up again. Find and wear belt.

Two hours later, notice the zipper is still down. Clandestinely, and carefully, pull zipper up.

Shirt? How did I forget the shirt?

Edgar Allen Poe, would have to be my first choice. Why? Because of his style of writing. I don't personally like a great deal of his work, but I have noticed that I tend to write similar to his style of poetry writing <not the same at all, just similar in the way we use imagery>. So it would be nice to have him critique a poem of mine, just because I know that he would most definitely be able to understand the piece for exactly what it is and not come back at me saying what most people tend to say about the piece.

The only other person has already critiqued my work and has greatly helped me with understanding poetry more, and to be able to find my own unique style of poetry writing. That is Frost, well that is his member name here anyway.

What is your opimnion on teen crime? Who is to blame and what-not?

teen crime can be blamed on a number of people, personally I think that it is the government to blame.

Torana
07-11-2008, 07:56 AM
You can't blame the government for teens being out of control. You can't blame anyone except for the one doing the crime. I would say no one is holding a gun to their heads and making them do it, but it has happened before...

But seriously, it is the one doing the crime that is to blame. Society has to stop blaming everyone else for someone's lack in judgement. We all know right from wrong and that wrongful actions have conesequences. I firmly believe that you can't really blame anyone except for the person doing the crime. At the end of the day, it is their choice wether or not to commit a crime. Their parents and the government haven't told them that they have to do it. The perpetrator has decided upon themselves to commit a crime and so they are fully to blame for their own actions. People need to stop laying blame because they want reasons for youth, etc. committing a crime. It only encourages them to do it all the more because society stands back and says "Oh you poor thing. The government is to blame for your behaviour." or "This is because your parents didn't bring you up properly. They are the ones that need punishing. Here you go, have a free ride in life." Get over it. They did the crime, they are responsible for their own actions. No one else!

Cogito
07-11-2008, 07:57 AM
Um, call me old-fashioned, but I think the one who decides to commit the crime is to blame. Not television, or video games, or the Internet, or hybrid corn.

EDIT: Eeek! Torana, get outa my head! ;)

ChimmyBear

If a person is old enough to know right from wrong...then they are old enough to be held responsible for any crime that they commit...Bottom Line.

Too often the burden of guilt is shouldered onto someone else; it seems that fewer people take responsibility for mistakes made. It is quite sad...how can they ever learn to make better choices when it is easy to pass the blame?

inkslinger
07-11-2008, 12:26 PM
I agree that teen crime should be blamed on the teens themselves. By the time you're a teenager, you should know basic rights from wrongs. No one is really forced into crime, either. I don't buy that. So peer pressure or influence from peers is not a valid excuse to justify a teenager committing crimes, I'm sorry. You basically have a choice in almost every scenario, so you yourself are responsible for what you get yourself into.

Oh, and I would say it's not the government's fault at all.

ValianceInEnd

I honesly think that yea, teen crime is bad and stuff, obviously, but there is too much blame being pointed on a miniority of teens doing the crime. I like cheese.

I was a bit cheesed off last night, though, when I entered the supermarket with a specific meal in mind. I wanted to tuck a slice of Fontina cheese along with a couple of pepperoni slices into a slit in a thick pork chop, and grill it with applewood smoke. But the %#%&$^*% store had no Fontina! So I didn't even buy the pork chops, and opted for a strip steak instead - good, but not what I had in mind.

I mostly prefer cheeses made with cow's milk, or occasionally sheep's milk. Goat cheeses tend to remind me of overly rank gym lockers, although I have also had goat cheese used well as an accent for something else.

My favorite cheeses for general use are aged Provolone. pepper Jack, Muenster, Mozzarella, well aged Parmesan, Danish Bleu, and Gruyere. I used to like Cheddars, but most of them I've encountered in recent years have lacked character. Gone are the bitingly sharp, crumbly "rat trap" Cheddars I grew up with, and would nibble upon along with apple pie and a scoop of good vanilla ice cream.

Yes, I like cheese.

If it's the kind of disease that cripples you permanently but keeps you alive so you can feel the torturous pain...well, I'd get a hospital room and a laptop, and while away my life by writing.

I would more than likely spend as much time with my kids as I possibly could. :)

I'd proabably freak out at first and then try to live out the time I have left to the fullest.

I'd empty all savings and go to Vegas, and play poker until the money runs out. Then I'd go up to my cottage and sit on the beach with a nice book for the last few days.

I think I should probably answer my own question this time :P

If it was something I could still live with like AIDS I would just live on, I would just feel not so much myself for a very long time. I know everything happens for a reason but I think iw opuld blame myself and feel very broken after it. I can be very overly emotional so i would probably really over-exagerate how I am feeling and make sure that the world leaves me alone for a while.
I'd probably see it as major punishment.

Thinks that cripple your mind are diffrent to me. I wouldn't want to continue living with a disease that left me with mymind in shatters. Doesn't matter if my heart is still going if my brain is dead.

New Question :D

Does the book you are reading at the moment inspire you at all to write more?

No, because I am currently between books.

Hmmm. Not so much. It's inspiring me to become a serial killer, though :)

(BTW, it's Darkly Dreaming Dexter, by Jeff Lindsay)

Oh, yes. It's a funny murder mystery about a flock of sheep who want to find out who killed their shepherd, and the way it mixes philosophy with a thousand different suspenseful subplots really makes me want to get out there and write something awesome m'self. (Three Bags Full, by Leonie Swann.)

I'm not reading anything fiction at the moment, which is usually the only place from which I can write. So, I guess what I am not reading is inspiring me at the moment.

The book I'm currently reading, Larry Niven's Destiny's Road, is really crawling along for me. I keep hoping for the pace to improve, but I'm about midway through it at this point, so hope is fading.

I was actually more inspired last night watching a Start Trek: The Next Generation episode, The Perfect Mate, and noticing the masterful use of dialogue in it.

No, it's a travel memoir about a man on the Apalacian Trail. I like it, but definitely not inspired by it.

No. Usually fantasy does but this book ain't doing it.

Well, your book sounds pretty interesting.

Not really. The only thing that really inspires me to write is myself.

What old show from the 90s or before did you just love?

The muppet show :D
Or Faulty Towers!

Its a close call between Lost in space or Fraggle Rock.

Loved lost in space, even if it was 20 years before my time. Some of the characters i just instantly liked for some reason (esp the doctor).

Fraggle Rock - come on, i was a kid and it was bright and colourful and i could always lose myself in it. (Though i cant remember much about it these days).
