I play as the Tau Empire.

For the Greater Good!

Raven
05-28-2008, 05:13 AM
I've never faced them. Ever.

Lemex
05-28-2008, 05:32 AM
Lol, if you get a Tau force with a few squads of Firewarriors, a couple of Skyrays, a handfull of Stealth Suits and an Eitherial, nothing can stand in the way.

Raven
05-28-2008, 05:37 AM
LOL thats what my old adversary said with his Beil Tan Eldar. a couple of war walkers a group of rangers and squad of swooping hawks and three grav tanks one been a prism. and a nice unit of guardians led by an Autarch. He lost. My Crimson Fists first big victory.:D. Meh been a long time since I really played though.

Lemex
05-28-2008, 05:58 AM
Lol, well, the Elder are a worthy foe, but nothing beets the Tau for range and sheer fire power.

Rumpole40k

I like Tau. Once you get up close they are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Seriously, I get slaughtered if I can't close the distance.

Lemex
05-28-2008, 06:14 AM
Yeh, the Tau's great weakness, close combat.
Thankfully we have Kroot to make up for this, but I just don't like the Kroot.
Nothing beats a pure Tau force for me.

Raven
05-28-2008, 06:22 AM
This is why I like Space Marines good up close and ranged. Same with Chaos Space Marines. Win/Win. :D

Lemex
05-28-2008, 06:27 AM
Yeh, but everyone and there Grandmothers plays as Space Marines, they are universal. The very symbol of Warhammer 40k its self.

While you have a point. I've actually been fielding them from the early days when everyone played Orks and Squats and Eldar. :p

I actually like the myth and background fluff more so. Plus I'm really like Chaos at the moment. especially the Nightlords. ;) Nasty is one word.

I don't play (I have a Warhammer Fantasy army, but haven't played a single bloody game:() but I have read the books, and studied it.
If I did play, and I might when if I move back to Canada and have the cash, I'd play Orcs. I like chaotic styles of fighting. Never do what they expect and never do the same thing twice. You may be destroyed sometimes, and you may not win often, but you'll have fun watching the confused face of your enemy.

I never liked Orcs or Orks But an old friend of mine I haven't seen in 7 years used to always play Orks and arm them to the teeth with Ork style KombiZ. and used lots of his Ork Wagons etc. Whether he still does or not I don't know.

Like I said I like chaos, and Chaos isn't chaotic enough for me.
In the Fantasy game I wanted to build an all Goblin army because they have a bunch of funny rules. Only the sheer amount of models I would have to buy made me go with the Empire.

Cicero

Starcraft and Warcraft > Warhammer.

That is all.

Raven
05-28-2008, 10:51 AM
They are very different.

I actually had an all night goblin army for several years. Then the new golbin spider riders came out. When the plastic black orcs began available .... well it became orcs and goblins.

Lemex

Starcraft and Warcraft > Warhammer.

That is all.

This is not at all the case.
They are very diffrent.
I rather like Warhammer, but I really dislike both Warcraft and Starcraft.

Raven
05-28-2008, 02:12 PM
Orks at one point were really popular. Now it seems its the Forces of Chaos. But then thats hardly surprising since they started the Horus Heresy Novels.

Lemex
05-28-2008, 02:13 PM
Noticed how many people are now selling Tau armys?
Good time for a Tau commander. :D

Raven
05-28-2008, 02:15 PM
Indeed.

But a lot of folk are really into the Chaos thing. Especially now.

Raven
05-29-2008, 04:45 AM
Plus Once you get Tau in close combat. Its easy to kill 'em.

Lemex
05-29-2008, 04:52 AM
I know, but a missle salvo from a SkyRay means, no real chance of getting close.
Sides, then you just call in some Kroot and watch the meat fly.

Raven
05-29-2008, 04:54 AM
Ah but when using Night Lords and their lovely Raptor's Its too easy to get up close and Kill the little blue skinned chaps.
and the SkyRay's don't even get a shot towards the Raptors. :p

Lemex
05-29-2008, 05:00 AM
Damn thats right... the Tau's only real great defence against Chaos is the invunrability to the Warp powers. But, I suppose it's only one of those things that can be tried and tested in the heat of battle. :p

Raven
05-29-2008, 05:02 AM
LOL.

But you forget the Night Lords are rather the Odd Legion out. Kinda not so much in support of the Warp but more so their cunning and stealth as well as their bloody mindedness to torture. Oh and their drive Kill.

Lemex
05-29-2008, 05:04 AM
Lol, well, my stealth suit boys could have a bit of fun then. :p

Raven
05-29-2008, 05:13 AM
LMAO. Yeah.

If they survive the first wave of onslaughting.

Lemex
05-29-2008, 05:17 AM
I just had a crasy idea, why not try an experement, a Warhammer 40k game over the internet?

I can give my couple of squads of Impiral Gaurd some practice.

Raven
05-29-2008, 05:22 AM
lol
Got Dawn Of War.

Lemex
05-29-2008, 05:23 AM

How many else have it I wonder.

Lemex
05-29-2008, 05:29 AM
Ah, how about having a game on Dark Crusade some time?
I don't have SoulStorm.

Raven
05-29-2008, 05:30 AM
I managed to load Soulstorm onto the PC 6 weeks back. But never played it. lol

Lemex
05-29-2008, 05:35 AM
Lol, apparently, it isn't worth it.
I'm told this off everyone in the no.

Raven
05-29-2008, 05:40 AM
lol. I liked Dark Crusade. Though I haven't played the eldar and Orks side of events yet.

Lemex
05-29-2008, 05:42 AM
I've only played as Tau, Impiral Gaurd (on hard it was awfull) and Space Marines. Nothing else. Though I've always liked the Necrons, Chaos and Elder.

Yeh, I've seen the video for Dawn of War 2... looks tasty.

Raven
05-29-2008, 05:48 AM
Blood Ravens all over again.

Smithy
05-29-2008, 12:29 PM
I play Space Orks, so waaaaaaagh!

Admittedly, I probably would have played Space Marines if I my best friend at the time hadn't said "Don't get Space Marines, everyone has Space Marines. Get Orks." but now I wouldn't change them for anything.

Aurora_Black
05-29-2008, 02:02 PM
Hah are you crazy, Iv'e pawned mad noobs during the Fall of Medusa campaign with my Slaaneshi Imperial Guard, through pure tactics and strategy (and ridiculously lucky rolls), ive killed Necs, Tau, Space Rines, Chaos Rines and Deamon Hunters :D

Aurora_Black
05-29-2008, 02:03 PM
I like Tau. Once you get up close they are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Seriously, I get slaughtered if I can't close the distance.

lol, I go a Mechanized Company doctrine with Basilisks, and stealth scout capabilities of Commissar Gaunt and a few Ghosts...Bye bye Tau.

Aurora_Black
05-29-2008, 02:04 PM
lol
Got Dawn Of War.

Iv'e got all Dawn of War games, Winter Assault, Dark Crusade and Soulstorm, although the first one was the best. They should've stuck to linear stories

Meh, I don't like that they just came screaming out of the warp to fight for Chaos with no real bad@ss villains for leaders. Not really interested in those. Hey rumpy you have Dawn of War?

Rumpole40k
05-29-2008, 02:17 PM

He is so right in many ways. You'll love the bloody conquesting of planets while your army marches on and deep into enemy territory. It's a great game, and if you like Chaos Marines, you'll like the original Dawn Of War's storyline. Three hurrahs for Sindri fans!

Yeah they are derived from the Thousand Sons. Its based in the book Tempest. Written by Goto. Basically they are high on psychics and the thousand sons were. But they carry the same Gene-seed. making them successors of the traitors Thousand Sons.

I don't even know what they are! :D

lol, Lies! Your an evil schemer out to get me while I wander aimlessly on the gamespy network, evil i tell you!

Nah im kidding, I play with Imperial Guard so it's necessary to play with hotkeys, or else, well, you've seen it before. Men break morale, run in circles like some crazy pixie dance and get mauled. So, I have to keep them in line (Done by Commissar ).

Raven

Unless your Commissar Ciaphas Cain. You Know the accidental Hero. lol

Aurora_Black
05-31-2008, 09:59 AM
True, Sandy Mitchell has a great series with old Ciaphas. The first three in Hero of the Imperium are my favorites though, the others tend to drag on a bit because of the 1st person POV, man its ridiculous how he has so much game with Amberly lol!

One of my work-mates lends me the 40k novel he is currently reading... I have read the first 3 pages of numberous novels in his ownership to see if I like the writers literery style. If I like it, I ask to lend it, though I find this is happons with 1 in 3 books and he said he will lend me a few of them at the end of the year.

I have forgotten the names of some of the said novels however.

Aurora_Black
05-31-2008, 11:19 AM
Well, when you remember the names let us know!

Lemex

Aurora_Black

Oh yes, that novel is a beauty, im a die-hard fan of Anthony Reynolds, have both DA and Mark of Chaos, gonna get some of his other works. Varnus was so cool as an MC and Jarulek as the main villain. The showdowns are definitely the sweetest pieces of work too.

Raven
05-31-2008, 06:51 PM
Much of the better work comes from Dan Abnett his gaunts ghost's series was spot on. And even his take on Space Marines in the book Brothers Of The Snake was really good.

Personally I like Ben Counter because I love reading the Soul Drinkers Books based on the soul drinkers Astartes.

Raven
05-31-2008, 06:55 PM

My favourite was Duty Calls. I loved the build up. And I'm looking forwards to the last ever book as we see Ciaphas Cain in Ciaphas Cains Last Stand.
