In the spirit of the elections, I've decided to start a poll; but not just any poll...no...this one is major...this one could very well make or break relationships between good friends. This could be the tip of the iceberg for many divorces. This could be the cause of several natural disasters around THE WORLD!

Or it could just be me, curious as to which you all prefer.

Ravens

Or

Crows

I prefer ravens.
We have lots of ravens around here but no too many crows.
All summer and fall where I grew up we would hear air cannons going off
at the experimental farm trying to keep the crows out of the fields.

Here I get woken up with a couple of ravens talking to me in the morning.
They are quite comical.

Ravens...they are kinda mysterious I think....even the name is mysterious, to me.
The word "Crow" just sounds harsh...and annoying.

That is because that is what crows are. harsh and annoying.
Raven's will actually sit and talk back to you if you say something to them.

You know, I lived in rural North Carolina for a number of years and I have to say, those crows drove me nuts. Just really nasty creatures.

Oh, c'mon. Ravens are so... cliché! (No offense to a certain forum member... heh.)

Crows are smart, too! (Well, besides the scarecrow thing. And even that doesn't work anymore.) And they don't attack me like the ravens did at the Grand Canyon... (Long Story.

I dunno, I went to a zoo once and they had a crow that could say a few words.

We haven't ravens where I live, so...*shrug*

Crows are a derivation of the Raven’s. Also Ravens are by far one of the most intellectual birds alive. Smart and clever. The Crow will be fooled easily by a scarecrow. A Raven will not. Ravens are much larger than Crows and much more powerful in force. A Raven can also be rather friendly yet they can also be rather aggressive especially to smaller animals.

The Raven back in old time of the Book of Enoch teachings was noted for its cunning behaviour and that once caught would morph into a form of liquid then re-morph into a solid state, it was actually nicknamed Liquid Raven at one point. The gods could never tame the Raven no catch one. The raven was also known as the guardian that took your soul to Valhalla. Were as the Crow deceived that soul damning it to Elizium.

The Raven is intelligent were as the Crow is not. ;)

I think it was crows :p

Well, well. I think we might have a winner, though maybe it might turn around and it will give the votes over to the Crows.

Raven is the common name given to the largest species of passerine birds in the genus Corvus. Corvids are also commonly referred to as crows and other species in the same genus include jackdaws and rooks.

In most of Europe and North America, raven is used as a synonym for the widespread Common Raven, and much of the literature and culture surrounding ravens refers to that species.

Ravens have high intelligence and are perhaps the smartest birds.
Their intelligence might be on par with canids such as wolves and some breeds of dog.

An obsolete collective noun for a group of ravens (or at least the Common Raven) is an "unkindness".

Ravens have won 40 to 9. That's what I call a defeat.

I'll have to think of another good poll :)

Ravens, definitely. I remember calling to them in Arizona and hearing them call back.

i don't prefer one above the other because they're both sacred of course and both members of the crow family, which makes them one of the two most intelligent families among birds- the other being the parrot family.
