Greetings, everyone. I joined this here forum as a desperate attempt to find a place to feel comfortable at while doing something I like to do (can you guess?). I'm also looking to meet some nice people, and I'd be absolutely thrilled to meet some talents out there willing to spend time with a youngster like myself.
I can't promise anybody I will stay here long or will make a post past this first one. I really can't tell at this point, since I haven't taken a very thorough look at this forum. There's two options: 1) I end up loving this place or 2) I end up losing interest quickly and leaving. That's how most people are, isn't it?
So here is the journey of how I came here. I'm sure you all are just dying to know.
I was on the council of an online community for over two years now, which is a long term for that particular site, because it's constantly going through changes. I've stuck with it through all the drama, the good times, the bad times. I've created a lot of friends, and for the most part, I did have friends, but along with staying at a place for a long time comes enemies. I was very deeply involved in the community there. I stayed in contact with plenty of people regularly at one point, three people of which, I ended up actually meeting in person. It was a tight community. Roleplaying-related, writing-related. I met some incredible writers there in my time, and some not-so-incredible writers as well, who I intend to keep in touch with...I hope.
As it turned out, the place got hacked by an old member, supposedly before my time. I was kicked out of my position on the council and was left sitting there to watch the former enemies I created take control of the site. I decided then (and this is very recent, so I may change my mind), that I did not want to support those who tried to rebel for the better. A group charged in and took everybody's old spots, with the illusion the council wasn't good enough, thinking they could do better. So politics in real life actually go...but they don't truly know until the functions of the whole site is actually in their hands.
And so, in an attempt to find someplace else to quickly spend my time before I kept worrying about the future of that site, I typed in "writing forum" into google, and here I am! Here! I'm here! Yes, and I don't know if I made a horrible decision or a good one.
Please reassure me.
