Radovan Karadzic, the former leader of the Bosnian Serbs, was on Monday arrested after more than a decade on the run. Although thought to be hiding with his supporters in a mountain stronghold, he was found practicing alternative medicine in the Serbian city of Belgrade.

He is to be tried for war crimes, after his actions in the Bosnian War of the early nineties. The charges include genocide, crimes against humanity, and the deaths of civilians in the siege of Sarajevo, as well as other charges.

He is to be tried at the UN War Crimes Court, in the Hague, in a case that is bound to be as controversial as that of his friend, former president of Yugoslavia Slobodan Milosevic, who died in 2006 shortly before the conclusion of his trial. He denies the charges, as well as the legitimacy of the Hague court.

Well if he's being tried by the UN they'll probably take away his pudding voucher for the canteen for a week and then let him go again.

I was thinking something along those lines as well. Anyone feeling the League of Nations all over again?

Well I'm not really for or against I suppose, but I've cant actually remember any of the good stuff they've done! I expect there has been loads, don't get me wrong, but I just remember a lot of various people saying their a bit rubbish.

Still, even if they do only take his puddign coupon, that's a lot more severe than if he was tried and convicted over in England. 'Right, so for your coutns of genocide, crimes against humanity and the massacre of citizens, we're going to send you to prision for two days. What colour would you like your room.'

UK justice, now there's something I'm not a fan of!

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Government . . . including the UN . . . should not engage in violence, even in retaliation for this man's genocide.

They should simply release him . . .
