Yes. I have lost the war. I am getting an ipod, and as a result must get itunes. And it's ****.

I'm basically wanting a little assistance from anyone using itunes on a WINDOWS operating system (vista, preferably), with videos.

I have close to 50GB of mp4 video files (films and tv shows) on my computer, and its my intention to put them on my new ipod. I've used them on my previous sony MP3 player, and they are in ipod format and size. On my computer, they are neatly aranged in folders, with tv shows, seasons and the files. However, when I import them to itunes, they come out with nondescript titles like video_dvd, not the titles I've named the files with.

How do I sort this? I'm a perfectionist, so I'd like them to be, when uploaded to my ipod, neatly aranged in show, and season, and in episode order. Is this even possible? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't deal with videos, but if you can go and actually edit the actual details of your videos before importing them (via right-click, properties) then those changes should appear when you import the videos into iTunes.

Alternatively (and this is what I did), you can edit the Info in iTunes, right-click+Edit Information of Ctrl+I. That'll organize it for you. It is a bit of a pain though, considering you'll have to do it manually.

Thanks. I've been doing that, but for some reason it won't let me edit the details of some of the videos. Nonetheless, I've spoken to a friend who had a similar issue. He left it, and it seemed to resolve itself, and after a period of time he was able to edit them. Personally, I think this is a violation of the Geneva convention, by apple...

Agreed. I had an iPod Video and the ****er broke three times. Getting it repaired each time got so expensive I could have just gotten a new one.

I got an iPod Touch for Christmas last year, and it decided to stop playing the left channel about two weeks ago, for no reason whatsoever. Right after the six month warranty expired.

It's things like these that make me want to commit homicide.

Banzai...*heavy sigh. puts arm around shoulder in consoling, friendly manner*

I have an iPod Nano that saw about a month of use because of the iTunes interface, not because of the player itself. I was frustrated with the way it renamed everything, or put albums that were ripped from my own, honest to goodness CDs, into seperate folders, making things impossible to find.

I ended up buying the much maligned Zune. When I got the Zune, the program interface suffered from many of the same issues, but in the latest update to the program, Microsoft got the message and made the interface very user friendly in repairing these folder splitting issues. It gives you free reign to rename everything and does so in a way that is just a joy. I won't go back to Apple for their hyper slick, user unfriendly devices.

If you just click on the folder and drag it into your itunes, then put it in the video part it should work fine.
I've had my ipod for 4 years with no problems
