So, I got my class schedule today, and, frankly, I'm terrified.

1. Geomoetry (math is horrid for me.)
2. Spanish Two (maybe Wrey will help me with spanish homework..?)
3. Economics/U.S. Government.
4. Contemporary Issues (okay, so, this is a score for me. I love arguing.)

4. Career Management

Sounds like your school has an unusual setup - I always had 6 classes in high school, and most of them (especially things like math... ugh, I hated Geometry...) were year-long classes.

random aside: in my experience anyway, Geometry is one of those things that you will either love or hate. For me, I liked Algebra (and loved Calculus), but I absolutely despised Geometry (it can't have helped that my teacher was an experimental psychologist who I swear was running experiments on me and the other five people in the class, who were all boys). But on a happier note, if you don't like math normally, you might like Geometry more, because it's a little different :)

And um, want to talk about terrified? I'm starting my first year in college:

It was the only math class that I ever passed comfortably.
If I can do it and enjoy it you will ace it.

Totally different atmosphere to school.
I was lousy in school with the structured system they had
but in college I aced every class.
The teachers are more laid back and accepting of difference in opinions.

If we ever move to a place with a college close I might just try for another
diploma.
Never got to use the first one.

In Canada the students have another month of Holidays so they aren't even
thinking school books or classes yet.

-Christian Scriptures (I go to a Catholic school, but I'm not Catholic, which makes things a pain sometimes. I do consider myself Christian, though)

-Honors Chemistry (I don't know how well I'll do on this...)
-Fitness Mastery (Basically gym/PE)
-Honors English (my favorite/easiest class)
-Honors Algebra II w/ Trigonometry (Yeah, scared about this. I don't really like math)

Next semester I have Intro to Computer Programming. :D

titania, we run on block schedule, we had regular schedule in middle school.

lessa, I do horribly in all classes without proper structure, or no structure at all. It's all or nothing for me. I can't have it with one day everything's planned and the next its not. So, I may or may not do fine, depending on the teacher.

Last1Left... ahh, AP classes. AP Psych was one of my favorites, personally, just because it's such a weird crossover between writing, science and social studies. Your schedule looks like fun (to me. but I'm strange).

These are the lessons I take:

Maths- 4 times a week, 1 GCSE
English - 4 times a week, 2 or 3 GCSE's
Science- 5 times a week, 2 or 3 GCSE's
ICT - 4 times a week, 4 GCSE's
R.E. - 1 time a week, 1/2 a GCSE
French - 3 times a week, 1 GCSE
Geograpghy - 3 times a week, 1 GCSE
Art - 3 times a week, 1 GCSE
Food, 3 times a week, 1 GCSE
PE, 1 time a week, no GCSE
We also take PHSCE, which I am not sure what it stands for any more but it looks at things like racism and your goals and finding a job etc etc. We do not recive any qualifications for completing this.

On my timetable, I have 6 lessons a day, each lasting 50 minutes, with a 15 minute break at 10:30, and a 45 minutes lunch at 12:25. I take afterschool ICT on Tuesday to catch up for the fact I am doing French, and we often have double lessons of ICT and Science. *groan*

My school has eight 45 minute periods every day, one of which is lunch. We also have two semesters, where we usually have the same classes with minor changes. So basically, I have seven classes a semester.

Semesters are what the school year is divided into. Two semesters in a year, and some schools also break each semester into two quarters. As for geometry, it's the study of points, lines, planes, figures, etc. It gets really annoying, especially when it gets into higher level concepts. It's either a love it or hate it thing.

It's really cool hearing how different places work their schools!

This is how we do it in my school:

We have two semesters, although we do not have block schedules. We only have semesters because they are separated by our grades and midterms/finals.

(those who don't know, periods are basically 45 minute 'lessons')
Also, on a side note, we have a six day schedule. Meaning, every day we have school counts as a day. So our first day at school would be day 1, and so on. Some lessons/classes we have on specific days, as you will see below.

Here's mine--

Period 1: French III H
Period 2: Algebra II-H
Period 3: Choir Major
Period 4: Lunch (days 1, 3, 5)
Period 4: Health Ed. (days 2, 4, 6)
Period 5: English 10-H
Period 6: AP World History
Period 7: Physical Ed. (days 1, 3, 5)
Period 7: Chemistry Lab (day 2)
Period 7: Study Hall (days 4 and 6)
Period Eight: Chemistry H

As you see, some classes are only visited on certain days, while others (like Chemistry, English, Math) are every day.

Other people's schedules seem so much more complicated and interesting than mine lole :(

Im in Scotland so at school you study at Standard Grade (2 year courses which you do 8 or 9 of) in 3rd and 4th year, Highers (1 year courses you can do up to 5 of) in 5th year and then in 6th and final year (if you stay onto it) you can do a combination of different Highers or continue onto Advanced Highers.

My school does 6 periods a day, 5 days a week, each 1 about 55 minutes long. Im starting 6th year, which is the 1st year where you dont have a class in every single 1 of those periods, which is good :cool: Also means i am finally free from compulsory subjects (such as English which you have to do until Higher :P) :D I now have :

Advanced Higher Maths
Advanced Higher Chemistry
Advanced Higher Physics

Only bad thing was that my school didn't run Advanced Higher Physics so i have to go to another to do it, and their timetable + the travelling cut over more than half of my school's Advanced Higher Biology, so i could not take that as well. But doing only 3 subjects means i have a lot of time off, so it's not such a great loss :cool:

Ah the 3rd and 4th year are of Secondary School, which i *think* roughly equates to American Middle School and High School. There is a 7 year Primary School before Secondary, which would probably be like Elementary. You dont get any proper qualifications until the end of 4th in Secondary though, so before 3rd year you just do a bit of everything basically.

Wow. Yeah, that is confusing... it is kinda neat to hear about how everyone else's schools work though! It seems like the British system is a lot more specialized... like I took math 3 out of my 4 years in high school (and the only time I didn't was because of scheduling issues) even though I'm not going into math and science at all. I think most Americans do the same? All the specialization doesn't really happen until college.

My school had a partial block schedule. I had six classes each semester, but never had each class every day...
Mondays I had all 6
Tuesdays periods 1, 2, 4 and 5
Wednesdays periods 2, 3, 5 and 6
Thursdays periods 1, 3, 4 and 6
Fridays all 6 again.

Periods were 50 mins. on Mondays and Fridays, and 1 hour 20 mins. on Tuesdays - Thursdays. I liked it a lot actually, although the block periods were better in some classes than others (math block periods seemed really, really long - but science teachers loved them cause we had more time to do labs).

Yeah, it is kind of neat. I have the same classes, every day 1.5 hours for each class, and a half hour for lunch during third. Last semester was horrid because 2 out of my four teachers hated me, 1 was okay, and the other is one of my favorites. Even though she worked us the hardest. I'm hoping it doesn't go like that this time.

I'm going into high school this year (Froshy pride!) and am taking all honors classes, up to and including band. Between that and all the extracurricular activities (play, speech, music, marching band), I heartily look forward to my nervous breakdown halfway through the year.

Oh, don't worry. The mental breakdowns start about a fourth of the way through the year, after the first few, you get used to living on limited brain function.

I have no schedule as of yet. My payments still aren't in, so I can't get my classes. Most, if not all, of my year got theirs at the end of the last quarter. It's "first come, first served", so I'm probably screwed.

Then again, it's happened all three quarters I've been there. (If you're wondering, we have three mandatory quarters, the fourth is an optional set of courses during the summer.)

Apart from Science we are also supposed to make 20 marks projects on the above subjects for internal assessment once a year. The commerce girls and economics girls have it worse-3 projects per semester(3 months each).

And we also have S.U.P.W., craft that is, we have to either make a cardigan, uppers and lowers of dresses. And we aren't gven a pass certificate if we don't pass in it.

AND we give three exams a year, AND the pre-boards AND the boards AND extra-cirricular actvities, like atheletics, swimming, football etc. AND stuff like debates, and exhibitions....I spend double of my time at skool to that of at home. In fact it's 4, right now. I would've gone to tuition if Sir hadn't been out of station in the morning, then to skool at 8, and then to tution after skool from 4-5 and then I have to go back to skool at 6:15 till 7, for house singing. These people are set on killing us.

Senior Year in High School...it's going to be so much fun :P

I don't follow a strict schedule, since all my classes are online. The timing's pretty flexible. I've just gotta log into each class a couple times a week, keep up with my assignments, and add a couple discussion contributions each week to each class. Oh, yeah, and the papers, but I don't really mind writing those. The quizz's are all that scares me.

This semester I'm taking:

Weather and Climate (major UGH!!! there).
Marriage and the Family (Sociology. Thought it'd be an easy one).
Intro to English Literature, and
Intro to the Bible.

Weather and Climate is the only one I'm sweating my grades on in advance. Then again, maybe I'm getting too cocky, going into my third semester. ;)
