Everyone loves a villain so much, we sometimes forget about the good guys. Just because someone is a hero, after all, doesn't mean he's gotta be boring, right? So who's the number one best fictional hero (from a novel) of all time?

It's a tough call, but I'm casting my vote for King Verity, a supporting hero from Robin Hobb's "The Farseer" trilogy. Somehow I always like side characters better than main ones, and there's something about Verity I just love.

Book: Aragorn, from Lord of the Rings
Movie: Luke Skywalker, from Star Wars
Tv Show: Captain Malcolm Reynolds, from Firefly
Manga/Anime: L, from Death Note

Ah, anyone from Lord of the Rings belongs on the hero list. My fave there is Boromir, even if he wasn't always good. That's probably why I like him. Lol. Plus, I'm a Sean Bean fan...

You all forget Beowolf. He fought Grendel unarmed that has to count for something. :) Then of course Achlies. Epic heros are the best.

if we're going with literary heroes i'd have to go with the unstoppable duo i've chosen since i was 10 yrs old... that's right... BASTION AND ATREYU FROM THE NEVER ENDING STORY!

Only Bastion's childlike imagination and creativity, coupled with Atreyu's courage, bravery and awesome tan, can save Fantasia from the horrible NOTHING!!!
