View Full Version : WF.org's NanoWriMo tracker misaditas 10-31-2008, 09:40 AM Nine hours and twenty minutes til midnight in the UK ;) Speedy 10-31-2008, 04:44 PM heh its 9am 1st of November in Australia Maybe we could just post our user names theire, prob could find each other ;) Just eating breakfest, plotting outlines. Milady 10-31-2008, 05:09 PM I'm in. It's my first time, too. I'm trying to stifle my inner editor. Maybe during the frenzy I'll actually get something done. soujiroseta 10-31-2008, 05:26 PM 625am november 1 2008 time to begin:p Acglaphotis 11-01-2008, 10:15 AM 10:43am here. 2268 words =). So, how do we do this? Do we edit our original post with the new word count or do we post another post? misaditas 11-01-2008, 11:56 AM It's 5pm here and I've written 1,813 words. Nowhere near like what I wanted, but I'm having issues with my MP3 player and can't switch off from the kids running around. Hopefully I'll be able to add another K to that once the brats are in bed. (I love them really) emily... 11-01-2008, 01:25 PM 1,055. :) That's a lot for me. Milady 11-01-2008, 02:30 PM 3:28 p.m. Do you know where your NaNo is? I've got 2,321 words... the highest of anyone who's posted so far! *gloats* Okay. Well, anybody else dead tired? I stayed up till midnight last night just to write a few hundred words for the formality of it, then I finished up the first chapter a few minutes ago. I'll probably work on it a little more tonight, if I don't spontaneously combust, first... What do you mean, fanatical?... Speedy 11-01-2008, 04:47 PM Day day down, 0 words - chew on that Its 8am thought and im aobut to start (had to, HAD to finish something before i started this. The person who created this COULD put up a list of people tand have them PM them for updates, that would make it very easy to see how people are doing Just a suggestion....you know ;) Cogito 11-01-2008, 09:50 PM At the end of day one, 1795 words. I was hoping for more on a Satuyrday, but hopefully as I get past the beginnings, the words will flow more readily. cjharley 11-01-2008, 09:56 PM 1425 words for me. Got a late start. I think I had too much fun last night. :) lordofhats 11-01-2008, 11:32 PM I figured I'd try this this year. Unfortunatly I'm pulling out an old story concept that's a spin off of The Book of the Moon and i've made so many changes to it's base source that I'm completely redoing the outline XD. November 1, 2008 (Completed Outlining) November 2, 2008 (4,858 Words, Chapters One and Two complete) November 3, 2008 (9,935 Words, Chapters One-Four Complete) November 4, 2008 (14,567 Words, Chapters One-Six Complete, Seven partial)* November 5, 2008 (16,174 Words, Chapters One-Seven Complete) November 6, 2008 (No change) * I don't know how much more I can do today. It's election day and I'm not sure how that will work out. I can think o a dozen things that can go wrong with my typical luck in these matters XD. EDIT: Voting went OK, better than I'd expected it too XD. Rio Moss 11-02-2008, 01:56 AM Last year: 72K on a WIP thriller in a European language. Now: overambitious so I want to write two NaNos = 100K. I have 7,706 words on an English-language fanfiction, and I'll start later (sometime between now and Nov 16) on another WIP thriller in a European language. Speedy 11-02-2008, 03:34 AM Day 1 - 0 words Day 2 - 2,700 words Slow start, but a start netherless. Still got 4 hours of today left, b ut football is on, no need to worry tonight. soujiroseta 11-02-2008, 08:46 AM Day 1 - 1553 Day 2 - 2886 AnonymousWriter 11-02-2008, 01:37 PM 2 days in and 5698 words completed. Pretty pleased. Hopefully I can keep this tempo up. misaditas 11-02-2008, 03:35 PM Day 1 - 2,474 Day 2 - 8,635 Total - 11,109 :D cjharley 11-02-2008, 07:04 PM Total so far 2363. Going back at it before the night is over. Cogito 11-02-2008, 08:25 PM Struggled to make the 3376, only managed it because it was the weekend. I don't see any way I can maintain this pace during the work week. :( Rio Moss 11-02-2008, 09:11 PM Some 11,300 in three days. Pretty much on target for my plans, but not outstanding. I can't afford to lose even one day. Speedy 11-03-2008, 08:14 AM Day 1 - 0 Day 2 - 2,700 Day 3 - 1,354 Total - 4,054 though a day and a half behind. But after spending 3 days of outlining and slowly writing a little out, i think tomorrow i'll be on my way to the first 10k hopefully. soujiroseta 11-03-2008, 08:43 AM Day 1 - 1,553 Day 2 - 2,886 Day 3 - 4,577 (Although still 1hr 30min left of day 3) planning to push past 5k tonight. Little Miss Edi 11-03-2008, 10:24 AM Chiming in a bit late here but: It's day three, 4.23pm and I'm at 4,012... hopefully will add a little to that this eve. Is anyone else using the NaNoWriMo to kick start a project? cjharley 11-03-2008, 12:55 PM Day 3: 3284 Goal for Day 3: 6200 AnonymousWriter 11-03-2008, 02:57 PM Day 3 and 8344 words completed. misaditas 11-03-2008, 04:16 PM Day 1 - 2,474 Day 2 - 8,635 Day 3 - 6,011 Total - 17,120 soujiroseta 11-03-2008, 07:37 PM its day 4 now and ive got a total of 5,902 words. amazing!!! hope everyone else is having success and a great tie doing it. Cogito 11-04-2008, 06:52 AM Had absolutely no energy after work last night, so no change in my stats. 67Kangaroos 11-04-2008, 10:58 AM 11 a.m. on the 4th, and i've only got about 2,000 words. but then, i started two days late too. amazingly, i did finish my nano last year~ funness, indeed. Silver Random 11-04-2008, 01:37 PM Wow everyone seems to be doing really well with it. I was perhaps going to try, but i forgot until November came, and i don't think im up for it now  Maybe next year. Gl everyone doing it though:D misaditas 11-04-2008, 04:47 PM Day 1 - 2,474 Day 2 - 8,635 Day 3 - 6,011 Day 4 - 4,109 Total = 21,229 Acglaphotis 11-04-2008, 08:42 PM Day 1 - 2268 Day 2 - No changes (outlining). Day 3 - Did nothing xD! Day 4 - Wrote again, now 3003. 21k? DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARN. I suck : /. Little Miss Edi 11-05-2008, 02:44 AM Okay, day 4's come and gone and I'm on... 5,704 Don't think too much will get done day 5, what with it being bonfire night. But I'll aim for another 1k... Cogito 11-05-2008, 07:39 AM Another unproductive day - after work, had to spend too much time on mod issues. :( (to be expected, I suppose, on Election Day...) Speedy 11-05-2008, 09:14 AM Yeah been so frigging busy last two days, WTF did it have to be in November Melbourne Cup, Political elections! soujiroseta 11-05-2008, 05:29 PM just completed my quota for day 6 and am currently at 10,006 words. this is more fun than i imagined.:p Acglaphotis 11-05-2008, 09:04 PM Day 1 - 2268 Day 2 - No changes (outlining). Day 3 - Did nothing xD! Day 4 - Wrote again, now 3003. Day 5 - 3605 Seriously, I suck! Rio Moss 11-06-2008, 09:55 AM 3,454 words on Day 6, for a total of 21,782. Pretty much my average for a week day, but then all I do is write NaNo in the morning, have lunch at noon, and work the rest of the day. Barely any time for other activities such as forum surfing. lordofhats 11-06-2008, 08:36 PM I didn't get anything done today. my homework was so frustrating I'm taking the entire night off to rest my aching brain >.< Cogito 11-06-2008, 08:53 PM I think I'm going to have to cram on the weekends. I just have nothing left after work on the weekdays lately. emily... 11-06-2008, 10:17 PM Is it possible for Nano to make you physically ill? I got 3k down the other night, and since I've been miserably sick. But nearing in on the 6k mark. :) I probably won't beat 50,000 before the end of November, but still. soujiroseta 11-07-2008, 06:00 PM it's early day eight and i'm just getting into my groove. so far ive got 11,940 words but still more to come:) Speedy 11-07-2008, 09:58 PM I think im ganna surrender my first attempt at this, life just got in the way. BE cool if the WF could do a monthly writing goal every month though! hint hint! ;) soujiroseta 11-08-2008, 01:35 AM sorry ya had to drop out there Speedy, i wonder how many people on WF are still doing it, it seems life is getting in the way for everyone:( i managed to type in 5012 words today so i got a total of 15199 AnonymousWriter 11-09-2008, 04:01 PM Day 9 and 17,00 words. :) Rio Moss 11-10-2008, 09:05 AM 3,269 words for today, up to a total of 34,094. On target to wrap up this story on Nov 15 or 16, and then launch into a second one. Cogito 11-10-2008, 09:33 AM I found myself finding every reason NOT to dive into it this weekend, even though I had planned to try to catch up. I don't want to drop it entirely, but I think the 50K in a month target will just drive me away from even trying to work on the piece; so I'm going to back off and just see what I CAN fir into my already overstuffed schedule. Even multitaskers have their limits! Little Miss Edi 11-10-2008, 09:39 AM Weekend was a little dire! Spent too much timing oohing at fireworks and not enough time actually writing... Day 9 finished with 9,826 words and today isn't going well. Gotta pull out of this nose dive! Will write lots tonight... or perhaps tomorrow. soujiroseta 11-11-2008, 09:47 PM just hit 20k, 20,020 to be exact and im not yet done for the day yet. this is good:D Speedy 11-11-2008, 09:57 PM Well had a "motivation" attack last night. Wrote for 8 hours straight and put in almost 20,000 words. Not sure if I'll get another chance to really go for it, but this nano thing really does teach you to get those fingers pumping and the pages a creating! misaditas 11-13-2008, 04:15 PM I've been off a while. I got tonsillitis last week and was really sick with it. Still coughing and I get breathing problems if I got outside (because of the cold air I presume). I've not kept track of my daily totals, but my overall word count is 40,793. Very pleased with progress, though I'm going to have to get a hatchet to it during the edit. Which, despite, the 'rules' will be December. I'm going to drop all the chafe ready for JanNo and then add another 50K. And the whole process starts again. Add. Edit. Sharpen. Expand. Add sub-plot. Edit. Then at some point, publish :D Rio Moss 11-13-2008, 09:01 PM Added 3,259 words this morning - pretty much my average daily ration - to stop just before the 47,500 mark. Tomorrow will be the day I wrap up this first story and start preparing for a complete switch from English and a fanfiction story to another language and an original story. The second 50K are the hardest. Rio Moss 11-14-2008, 11:37 PM 50,885. The first one's over, the next one will begin tomorrow. Last year, I did 72K for one story, so that's what set me up to write two 'novels' this year. Jonesy 11-15-2008, 12:59 AM I started today, so i'm gonna be pretty far behind. I've got my story planned out, but I can't get it started, which is gonna be a problem. Once i've started I think i'll be all goods. Mandi 11-15-2008, 01:12 AM I started late as well Jonesy. Yesterday to be precise xD But I have no plans at all, so you might have the upper hand. I have 7,049 words so far. I MIGHT JUST DO THIS! :D Rio Moss 11-16-2008, 02:32 AM Don't worry about starting late. I began my second NaNo today and I'm some 4,200 words into it. If I write 3,200 a day, I can make it to 50K on the last day. soujiroseta 11-16-2008, 02:45 AM rio moss is cruising. ive only done half of my first and only novel. Speedy 11-16-2008, 04:10 AM Going to internet cafe to do some work - will have another possible 8 hours of wriiting to do. And if all goes well (keeping of that cursed time wasting WF forums), i might actually get another large chunk complete and i might nactually consider finishing it off ;) We'll find out soon enough! misaditas 11-16-2008, 10:13 AM *cough*Ihave50Kwords*cough* What can I say? I fell in love with my main character and the story pretty much wrote itself. Well to 50,000 words anyway, the story is not finished yet. Not by a looooooong way. Dermit 11-16-2008, 10:29 AM I'm stuck around 20k atm, plot holes are assailing me left and right, and I'm not one of those people who can ignore them and keep going. Still, I shall persevere. Too many people will point and laugh at me if I do otherwise, which is according to plan. The ridicule of your peers is powerful motivation Mike Nemesis 11-17-2008, 11:08 AM Keep up the good work guys, I only heard of this recently but i admire everyone doing it. I think I'm to much of an editing perfectionist to be able to write so much so quickly. Little Miss Edi 11-18-2008, 02:57 AM I'm at 19k but I think that reaching 50 this month is gonna be a little unrealistic... Dammit, I really hoped I'd manage it but just let a whole week slip by with barely any writing and now - blah! :( I'll keep going though, perhaps my end word count won't be a total disaster. Kit 11-18-2008, 09:05 AM Well done to everybody taking part, keep at it! Twelve and a half days left to go and that can make all the difference :D Even if you're only half way there... with 2k words per day you can make it! I really wanted to do it this year because I tried it last year and was SOOO close, but unfortunately university commitments have prevented me... 2 exams and 3 essays this month :( soujiroseta 11-18-2008, 10:05 AM don't worry Edi i think as long as you're satisfied with what you wrote by the time Dec comes then 50k doesn't matter. and to everyone who's doing it keep up the good work!:) right now im on 30,749 words and i plan to at least have 35k by sunrise in 6 hours. soujiroseta 11-18-2008, 02:03 PM finished the morning on 32,441. will wake up later this afternoon to continue. Silver Penny 11-18-2008, 02:19 PM http://www.nanowrimo.org/ Not sure if this has been posted anywhere else but feel free to move it or direct me ... I got started late - November 7th but am up to 19,300 words today!!:D Over a third of the way there...it's tough and requires WAY more dedication than I am used to with my writing, but perhaps this is what I need to kick me in the butt... Just wondering if there is anyone else in the forums who have undertaken this challenge...and what obstacles you may have encountered...how you keep your motivation etc... soujiroseta 11-23-2008, 10:03 AM has everyone given up? i almost did today but then i decided that i am a writer and writers write! albeit it was after a few shots:p currently standing at 38,958 words so am on course. *throws confetti* Mike Nemesis 11-23-2008, 03:27 PM Don't give up if you've come so far and are still on course only one week to go. Just think of pride at end and then the copious editing afterwards as a matter of interest where it will probably jump up another 20k just as you flick through it and add bits to make it better lol Speedy 11-23-2008, 05:04 PM 5,000 words to go. Cant believe im actually going to finish. Oddly enough 90% of what i've done has been done in 2 marathong nights of writing. Will probably finish it off tomorrow night. Silver Penny 11-24-2008, 08:07 AM I'm currently sitting at 33,000...I think I should be able to bang off another 17k - the cable guy is supposed to come to my place between 5-9:00p.m. so I have to be home...I think I'll just sit and write the entire time..... They just wont' be quality words...But I have December to deal with all that... This has totally been a challenge. soujiroseta 11-24-2008, 02:15 PM sitting pretty at 40,649 words. less than 10k to go. i can almost taste that pretzel.:p soujiroseta 11-26-2008, 09:20 AM Just hit the glorious 50k mark. i feel so good right now. anyone else done yet? Silver Penny 11-26-2008, 09:25 AM Just hit the glorious 50k mark. i feel so good right now. anyone else done yet? Wow...10k in a day...awesome..I'm soooooooooo close - 43k right now...and confident I will finish!! soujiroseta 11-26-2008, 09:45 AM once you hit 40k the anticipation takes over and you just get in the zone. you'll be finished in no time:) Silver Penny 11-27-2008, 02:51 PM I'm done! I won!...50,249 - Sooo cool, and the best thing is that I am not nearly finished my draft and I plan to keep going...I've never written anything this long in my life...I'm feeling pretty good...can you tell?? soujiroseta 11-27-2008, 02:56 PM yes:p excessive use of .... is a common excitement symptom. CONGRATULATIONS!:D and with two whole days to spare. Rio Moss 11-30-2008, 02:59 AM Finished 50,888 words of one story on Nov.15 and 50,581 for my next WIP today. So I wrote 101K with less time on my hands than I had when I did 72K last year. Which means I'm in no doubt whatsoever I'll be doing NaNo in 2009 again. But perhaps just one full WIP. AnonymousWriter 11-30-2008, 09:08 AM Finished around ten minutes ago. 50K with eight hours to spare. A pat on the back well-deserved in my opinion. :) PrincessGarnet 11-30-2008, 03:25 PM well done everyone! This seems like a lot of fun. I've never done it because i always have essays due for the end of November. So what did everyone end up writing about? Speedy 12-01-2008, 06:16 AM Finished mine on the 28th - with a big sigh! Was fun, but even though i did finish it off, i feel meh cause most of it was done in only a few days. Never felt like i gave the whole onth a run. But nonetheless, im 50k more into my story then i was a month ago. Cogito 12-02-2008, 02:52 PM I gave up trying for the 50K mark fairly early. I don't have a lot of free time, and I really hated doing firehose writing and not doing any reworking. So my grand total at the end of the month was 12,434 words. It's a good solid beginning, though, and I plan to go ahead with it over the next few months. It has also spurred me to put more work into Neverending, which I had been neglecting. |
