Charred, burnt, dead. Only a memory of hope remained.
But, what was that bit of green sprouting through the dirt?
He gingerly knelt to examine it. His heart was in his throat. Dare he believe?
With one finger he touched the object of his dreams...
No! It was only a discarded candy wrapper.

Might this mean a convenience store was near by?
Hope surged again...

Bailey laughed again.

Breathing deeply, Snooty, the bubble dog imagines what "Fresh air" must smell like. Or trees, flowers, people... Day 693 in his back yard bubble is bland and boring, just like the others. Perhaps the mail man will come and say hello today (after putting on the required sterile suit and gloves, first, ofcourse). It's tough having been born with no immune system. Oh, there goes that cute poodle, 'Francy'. *arf arf!* his muted barks carry through the glass. She doesn't notice. Well, back to my bird watching, Snooty sighs.

In the news today... the citizens of M'zwiba fled in terror as a UFO mysteriously appeared and began snatching up residents two weeks ago. Later, they were returned unharmed, but with a serious condition the doctors are calling 'Blochkin's Disease' named after the famed physicist who discovered the Blanksteins virus.

The infected speak in a strange language dubbed 'Blochspeak' and tremble when exposed to milk. They seem to prefer a strict diet of limestone rock and lichen.

More to come as this story unfolds...

...Alas another unfortunate side effect of the dreaded Blochkins disease is the occurance Symbiopedopsis; in which, two symbiant life forms take up residence in the victim's feet. Here, another photo reveals what life is like for one such victim. Affectionately referred to as "Lefty" and "Righty" these three life forms have learned to coexist. The host human can eventually even come to recognize the specific likes and dislikes of each symbiant. In the above photo, it is clear that while Righty enjoys the rush and thrill of danger, Lefty struggles with 'inner toe' disorder and the constant whooshing disturbs his equilibrium quite too much.

Out of the darkness, the vessel steared. Toward the light! The dreary, evil haze was thinning now. Their hearts were beginning to still, but certainly not willing to trust. The danger had not passed yet; for there in the black fog, the outline of their foe was yet dimly visible. Beautiful yes, but sorely evil. Her green eyes, shone perhaps more strongly than all else. Fully risen above the waves, her long black hair swirled in the wind. To be held in her frosty gaze was to taste death. One last flash of green surged and engulfed the entire ship. ROW! ROW! Full sails! Throw over anything not tied down! The ship broke free and cleared the dark haze. All breathed a sigh of relief. She was gone now. They were safe. It seemed all trace of the merqueen vanished. She was only a memory now, thankfully. Captain! Look! The sails! They're the color of jade! Vile Sea Witch. It'll be hard to forget her with a memoir like that hanging over our heads.

Everything was an illusion in this cursed place. Stephanie stared now, at the rain dripping down the 'window'. A half hearted attempt to make her feel like she wasn't actually in captivity on a space craft floating in outerspace. The rain drops irritated her. The annoying glitch occuring when the film looped was driving her insane.
Three drops, then repeat. Three drops, then repeat. Insane. It was maddening her.
Just then the portal opened. Or so it appeared. She could see no one in the corridor. Drawing nearer, she could see a post running from top to bottom blocking her exit. She stepped cautiously arround it and knocked her head into another post, optically hidden from her view.
"Ouch!" Stupid double post.
Laughter reverberated in the hallway. The captain entered and knelt, scooping her up heroicly.
She scoffed. His heroism was not welcome.
"Put me down".
"No gratitude. Such a pity."
"I would not be in this prison, if not for you," she spat.
"You will learn to love me, my lovely."
"Never!"
His tone turned harsher.
"I may be a villain, but I don't fool around!" he threatened her.
Turning toward the door, he added quietly, "Maybe that's why I'm so unhappy..."
He cast her one more alluring glance, then exited the chamber.
Her prison.

Welcome to reality television where my muscles are far too plump with synthetic hormones to allow you to nestle underneath my gorgeously deoderate-splash armpit.
