To try and be a good human being (cough-splutter) and to write. And to get angry at advice... then say sorry.... :D (cough-splutter!)

Any given individual of any given species' purpose is to reproduce.
But since I've got this whole nifty free-will thing going for me...I guess my other purpose in life is to have as much fun as I can, whether that means writing or being in a band or whatever.

To live. What keeps me alive is my book.

To be the best possible friend to all those who need me. To love like no one has ever loved before. To touch at least one soul with my writing. To become known amongst the greats, like Dante, Homer and the others.

To figure out what my purpose in life is :D
To learn, to experience, to try and make all the pieces fit, to be tolerant and peaceful to all those whose lives I touch and to find truth and hopefully communicate some of that truth to others.

To try and achieve my every goal, and that's it.

To provide my kids with the best start in life that I can so that one day they're able to stand on their own two feet and cope with whatever life throws at them, and they can grow old and look back on a life that has been enjoyable.
I'm 46 and I've had a great life already. I may live to enjoy another 46 years or I could be dead next week, but whatever's left is for them.
Cheers,
Rob

"He who has a why for living can bear with almost any how." - Neitzsche
My why is my family (Robert said it well) and my religion. To get to the point where I leave a good legacy behind in this life and secure a good location in the next.

At the moment, my lifes meaning is not much.
*resists angst*
Woot. Winnah.
I have no idea what the purpose of my life is, not yet anyway.

Yeah, no rush. I'd hate to die without a purpose though, that'd be pretty lame.

It would seem that my purpose in life is to have the things I desire dangled in front of me, only for them to be snatched away as soon as they are within my grasp.

I'm not sure if I have a purpose or any of that.
But if I did have one, it'd be to write, to make history.
But sadly that's a part of my fantasy world that I constantly burrow myself in.
I'm told all the time that 'God has a plan for me'. Well so far this plan isn't working too well. God needs to think of a new plan...

call me an idealist, but i believe we all have a purpose on earth other than a giant waiting lounge before heaven (i'm not religious, agnostic) and i believe that fate and circumstance (as well as personal will) will lead us to that purpose....if we're lucky.

Huh. I can't believe I didn't answer this earlier.
My purpose in life is to succeed at whatever I begin to do. And laugh at anyone who tries to hold me back.
Right now I'm still working on the whole 'beginning' thing though. :)

It seems that throughout the course of my life, my purpose has changed a number of times. Right now, it seems that my purpose is to insure that my son has a much better life then I did, and that he grows up to be a much better person.
