View Full Version : I need a type of bag.

I am in (writing) a fantasy novel, and I am in the kitchen of a castle. I need to find a bag to fill with supplies for a long journey through forest etc. Does anyone know how I can get my hands on a bag, somehow? I need a good reason for the bag to be stored in the kitchen.

As for technology level... I suppose it is more a palace than a castle.. and they do have some technology, so it could be any kind of bag, not so much limited to Camelot-era stuff, though this would be nicer for the 'feel' of things.. a simple backpack just sounds odd to be stored in a kitchen - out of place.

Thanks.

Oh, and I'm not sure which forum to post this in, so 'General' sounds apt. Feel free to move it if I am wrong! Thx

hehe, yeah, a potato sack is all I could think of, I was just hoping for something a little easier to carry. The potato sack would suit the mood well though..

You could have a satchel that belongs to someone that's either hanging on a coat peg or the back of a chair, it could also be lying on a table.

A drawstring pouch
A bindle
A grain sack

I'm not sure, but did cooks use a type of bag?

Okie, my character won't like it, but I think I'll use a sack of some sort for now, since that seems to be the most common response.
Thanks for all the replies!
