Uh, your user name?
In that case mine is Saya. Duh. I thought it up to use in one of my stories and joined my first forum the next day with it. It kind of stuck. It was only later that I read "Dragon Sword and Wind Child" and hte main character's name was Saya. :P Of ocurse, I pronoucne it 'say-uh' not 's-eye-uh' like you would for the girl in that book (Japenese btw).

When my Dad first saw me, he said I looked like a Danny. So they named me Daniel and just called me Danny. Which eventually got shortened to Dan.

Ashley- Rumor has it that my mom named me after a male on one of her favorite soap operas. She is such a classy lady haha
It technically means-A place name and surname from the Old English words 'æsc' (ash) and 'leah' (wood). This name transferred from surname to male first name but in recent decades has become increasingly popular for girls.(fyi-I am a girl)

Is greek for 'life'
I suppose at the end of the 'names dictionary', the author became tired and began sticking to one word answers.

My name was a compromise between my parents and my grandparents. When my mom was pregnant, both my grandmothers wanted me named after my grandfathers. But my parents weren't wild about "Lyle" or "Elijah John" so throughout the pregnancy they told everyone that if I was a girl I would be "Tushinello Wolfenpickle" or if I was a boy I would be "Herman Capichino" (this is how it was told to me). So when I was born and they named me "Jason Alexander" (after greek mythology) my grandmothers where so happy that they never made one complaint about not being named after my grandpas.
My name means "Cedar". Or at least I was conditioned to think so.

'maia' is a greek word meaning:
great mother
little mother
midwife
witch
and it's the brightest star in the pleiades, named after the eldest of the goddess pleiades, mother of hermes, by zeus... and granddaughter of gaea, the earth goddess...

My name (Mallory) was a compromise that my parents made. My mother wanted to name me Beatrice, but our family would have disowned her. My father wanted to name me Dawn Joy, because my mother's name is Dawn and he said I brought him a lot of joy. But my mother refused to have her child named after two brands of dish soap. So somehow they decided that they both liked Mallory and they went with that.
Mallory means "unfortunate" in French and "bad things" in Italian. Good choice, Mom and Dad. I like my name, though, despite the negative connotations.

Michael means "gift from God." or "he who is like God." Naturally, this is some of the best ego-fodder an adolescent can have. Woo-shah.
Also, I got my name because-well, I don't know, but I have a guess. My oldest sibling is Teresa and my other one is Patrick. I think my parents are trying to collect all the saints or something. =P

I am and American Lolly. Just spelt differently...
I think it means Ethiopian Queen or something. or something do do with White. Not sure.
If I was a boy I was going to be called Carl. Which makes me pronounce it with a crappy American accent! it was either that or Brandon (another accent) but my Dad didn't like the name.
Do you even like your name? would you change it if you could?

i like that name :) i also like Nichola. pity i'm not called either, lmaoo

it's probably a good thing you're not called nicholas though...
I don't particularly love the name, it rhymes too easy, and did that ever get used against me; my cousin used to call me 'knickerless' all the time. Most people just abbreviate it to Nick though.

Well my parents where so kind to my brother me and decided to give us as many names as possible. And to make it look a little shorter they hiphenated my first name.
My first name is Sally-Anne...I've abriviated it to Sally and most of my friends either call me Sal or Sal-Gal, they just HAVE to hiphenate my name!
Cutting my name down you get many meanings...first Sally is a derivative of Sarah and Sarah means Lady or Princess in Hebrew...then you have Anne which is a shortening of Hannah which was a name they gave to the Virgin Mary and any Queenly figures.
So all around my name is very high and mighty and gives me an inferiority complex. Plus there is my middle name which is Maree.
My brother got the roar deal though...his name is James David Francis...plus a last name. My parents couldn't decide on his middle name because my mother's dead brother was named David and there is a tradition in my father's family where all the males have the middle name Francis ... it stretches back nearly four hundred years. Lucky him.
I dont mind my name, but I hate the Anne part of it. I just like plane Sally.

My name mean's God is my oath and father rejoiced.
There are seven kids in the family. I'm number six and the fifth girl. They were hoping for another boy but I looked more like my father than anyone so they took three days to name me. Six years after, they finally got their second boy. I have bookend brothers.
