summarising and paraphrasing - I need some clarification on what is considered `fair use` for my book. I`m basically summarizing a two-page long portion of a book in less than 8 lines. If Im not quoting but putting the person`s ideas in my own words, do I still need permission from the publisher and author?

I may be mistaken, but I was under the impression that "summarizing" and "fair use" were two entirely different terms.

But you are using his content to write your own, I dont know any thing about the copyright rules. But if you are using some one elses content to write most of yours, then its only ethical to give the writer due credit.
