View Full Version : Taking A Break
Frost 05-04-2007, 06:41 PM Im taking a break from these forums in light of recent events.
Im still going to be posting in the Third Earth RP, obviously, and maybe the occasional lounge room post but for the most part Ill be steering clear of every other poem.
Toodles :)
Ferret 05-04-2007, 07:10 PM We'll (hopefully) be here when you get back.
?!
In light of /what/ recent events?
mammamaia 05-04-2007, 11:44 PM exactly what i was going to ask... perhaps s/he had a bad experience critting someone's poem?
Domoviye 05-04-2007, 11:48 PM Because of this: http://www.writingforums.org/showthread.php?t=3400
Hope you don't mind Frost.
Enjoy your break Frost and come back soon.
Ferret 05-04-2007, 11:50 PM In the future, you really should tell the people with purple names about shat like this.
I read through the thing and offered a few words to the amazing "script-writer" Flutterbies.
Hope you come back soon Frost. It was a stupid issue.
mammamaia 05-05-2007, 04:03 PM i'd ditto them in toto, myst...
frost, you were right on target with your comments... if i still checked out what tries to pass for 'poetry' in the majority of posts in that section, i'd probably have said much the same and gotten flamed instead of you...[and i may now, for that 'tries to pass' bit!] the reason i don't any more, is probably clear to you by now... hope to see you in some of the other places here...
love and hugs, maia
Raven 05-05-2007, 04:14 PM Unfortunatly I had to post this (http://www.writingforums.org/showthread.php?t=3438)
Sadly some people go to far. this situation and the situation of other poems were brought to my attention by Torana.
If any of you feel that others are posting nasty insulting flame posts or pms please either click on report post or Pm myself or any of the moderation team. Or even PM site Owner Lpspider.
I'm sorry you feel this way Frost and hope that you do decide to come back and post again.
Anyone who intentionally posts flame posts or any aggressive posts/PMs will face a two week suspension which will be reviewed depending on the content.
This Forum is a friendly place and set up for all of us to share or Critique poems songs novels stories. Or simply to talk in the lounge and talk about writing issues
Help keep the forum friendly by reporting problems to the Moderation team or Admin.
Thanks.
~Raven.
mammamaia 05-05-2007, 04:22 PM for the record, i saw no 'insult' in frost's comments... just an honest assessment of the piece... if writers can't handle the 'awful truth' about substandard work, they shouldn't post it...
and, if they do, should accept the critique/s gracefully, not indulge in personal attacks on the person/s who did them the favor of spending time reading and commenting on their work, in an attempt to be helpful...
Raven 05-05-2007, 04:26 PM Well said Maia.
I couldn't have said it better.

I too ditto that in toto.
mammamaia 05-06-2007, 04:17 PM gracias, amigos!... glad to see some of us are on the same page... hugs, m
Alice in Wonderland 05-06-2007, 04:32 PM Wow... o.o That got out of proportion rather fast, didn't it? >.<
Personally, if I could choose anyone on the forum to critique something I'd written, it would be Frost. =) I like that he's honest in his opinion.
Eoz Eanj 05-06-2007, 10:24 PM All I can say is
Beware the sensitive and the shy.
Eoz Eanj 05-06-2007, 10:27 PM I suppose the saying, 'If you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all' doesn't apply to the arts?
SeaBreeze 05-07-2007, 06:25 AM I like Frost. Respect him, but in my personal opinian it was a touch nasty, but that's me, I'm kind of a sap. I don't want Frost to leave and to be honest, I learnt my lesson by snapping back at comments made a few months ago about my crap poem. The reply I made was childish and I didn't really read through the crits properly as I should have, I just reacted. My advice is if you don't like the crit given, wait a while and calm yourself down and read through it. Frost is an excellent person to ask for a crit and one of the comments made in the recent Flutterbies fiasco was something I regret.
And it is getting out of hand with all the nasty little back and forth comments just because of an honest crit.

Torana 05-07-2007, 06:31 AM I hope you come back in full swing soon Frost. Enjoy your break and I look forward to seeing your work posted up in the poetry forum again soon.
~Torana
Raven 05-07-2007, 06:39 AM What everyone needs to remember is If you wish to recieve critique its not always going to be good praise. And I think sometimes negative critique is better. Because it helps you move forward with your next poem.
Infact constructive negative critique really can help you in prove because many here take the time to write down were they think you have gone wrong and then offer their allternatives.
Positive Critique is still good but you learn so much more from the negative.
But if you don't wish to recieve negative critique then don't post your wiork on a forum were everyone will read it and offer critique taking their time to write one out for you.
Take Critique as its meant.
Just remember someone has taken the time to write critique and offer advice on something you've written.
Just remember to leave the insulting out.
Other than that if you feel theirs a problem then report post or PM a Moderator. After all thats why we're here.
~Raven.
SeaBreeze 05-07-2007, 07:00 AM Agreed....
Frost 05-08-2007, 02:17 AM Well, Ive decided I'd make a comeback :) the break was good, but WF is better. Thank you all so much for the words, I appreciate it dearly! I've got a new poem in the making currently, so Ill be in poetry over the next few days.
Thank you again, everyone, it means alot!
-Frost :)
Sayso 05-08-2007, 03:30 AM Glad you're back Frost, I can breathe again now.
Dare I say it's a shame Flutterbies hasn't come back too. Life's too short and all that. Forgive and move on.
Frost 05-08-2007, 06:43 AM Indeed. I'd like to see her grow as a writer, she did have potential.
