My hair is really thick and it has this nice wave that makes it look like i make it that way every morning. It use to be so long it could touch my but, but I took the courage to get cut it near my ears when a really close family friend died from cancer. The locks of love thing. I adore my hair, and wish it would grow faster, it's like my security blanket.

What's your favorite color?

The locks of love thing. I adore my hair, and wish it would grow faster, it's like my security blanket.
i know what you mean, mine used to be down to my bottom, but i got it all cut off like a year ago and i am wanting it to grow back now.

my favourite colour would have to be turquise. i think it is so bright and energising. i love it.

if you could be better at one thing what would it be and why?

I'd be better at getting motivated.

what's your favourite memory?

Heather Louise

walking around Ripon with my Granda and Grandad. Ripon is soo beautiful and i used to love going to the caravan with them and walking around there with an icecream. i love my grandparents, they mean the world to me <3

I would want unlimited time. I never have enough time to do all the things I want to do, and it just seems to get constantly worse.

Who is the author who has most influenced your writing style, and why?

(uh oh, several posts went into this thread while I was typing this!)

Bick
06-26-2007, 09:48 AM
I will do both questions i guess x)

If I could do anything better it would be science. Everything I want to be career-wise has to do with science and here I am barely able to understand it. It's just ew for me.

My best memory, wow. It makes me tear up to think about it. It was during my 8th grade year. God that year was horrible to me. I got hit, attacked once, spit on and called names that whole year. It was a racist thing. That was also the year the cracker incident happened (I will get to the good memory in a seconf rofl) That was when some girl ingeniously decided she was going to make a joke. So she walks on the bus, walks over to me and offers me a cracker. Now I know this girl is one of the worse when it comes to making fun of me. So I know exactly what she meant when she offered the cracker. I kept refusing. So she and the entire bus start chanting "Take the cracker, cracker" I sit in my corner and I just stare at the window hoping they will stop soon. She gives up the game and crumbles up the cracker, throwing it at me. (To think, all she got was 3 days suspension for this.) She tried to tell the principal that I had called her the "N" word. I've never uttered that in my entire life.

It was also that year I got the most amazing friends. We never were apart after the cracker incident, they weren't going to let that happen to me again. They also helped make a bad situation into a joke, we became the crazy cracker club. So no longer could the word cracker be offensive to us and as a group they really started leaving me alone.

We had a friendship bracelet that I kept on almost religiously. It never left my wrist, even for bed or showering. I had it on for almost two years when it finally snapped. It was basically just a braided peice of yarn, but the memories meant so much to me.

Erm, use cogito's question D=

Heather Louise

i do not know who but it was a book called "sorties for five year olds" that after reading i first started writing. the stories were just amazing at the time and i must have read the book over like a hundred times. i started writing after reading those.

Bick

I don't really think any author did inspire me. I had never read a humorous book that I enjoyed. That was until I read the 13 1/3 lives of Captain Bluebear. Walter Moers, the way he writes he wrote that... it's as if he went into my own mind and took my sense of humor and put it in there x)

Have you ever had to deal with racism?

Heather Louise
06-26-2007, 10:36 AM
nope. never. i live in a society where we are all white and have never had to deal with it.

have you ever dealt with any sort of predudice before?

Cogito
06-26-2007, 10:44 AM
Yes. Although I am fish-belly white, I've always had friends who were of every ethnicity you could name. In fact, my ONLY friend in sixth grade, in the hell called Syracuse, was the only black boy in the class. We were both Outsiders.

So although I have not been the direct target of bigotry, generally speaking, I have had to deal with it because of the friends I have chosen.

Same question - it is a very good one.

Bick
06-26-2007, 10:50 AM
I live with a prejudice father, and mother that hates my best friend because she is a Jahovah Witness. I also at first had to deal with the fact that my best friend's family didn't really want me around because I wasn't from their relgion. Though I fixed that one winter when they gained my respect. Which I can tell about if you want x) I don't know if that racist stuff I've gone through goes along with prejudice? I guess it would. From 6th-8th grade I dealt with so much of that. Two different occasions happened where I was followed home. The first time a boy followed me home just so he could call me a white ass, and then spit on me and ran. The second time a group of boys followed me home and attacked me. Hurt me pretty bad too. I had a lot of trouble like that. Though I put some of it in a few posts above this one.

Is family really important to you?

Cogito
06-26-2007, 10:56 AM
Yes and no. My children are very important to me, and I have found a workable relationship with my mother. My father was shown the door before I was born, and I was close to my granparents on my mother's side. The rest of my relatives, I frankly have no use for.

My friends, I have chosen. So my relatives, I have chosen whom to exclude.

What other creative outlets do you have besides writing?

Bick
06-26-2007, 10:58 AM
Drawing I suppose. I don't consider myself very good but I like to do it.

Same question.

Cogito
06-26-2007, 11:02 AM
I enjoy cooking a great deal. Also photography, model building, some painting (years ago), and programming.

Let's keep this question going one more time.

Heather Louise

i enjoy cooking, drawing and painting, playing the piano before my sister broke it :| and i danced reguarly before my SAT's.

what would you most love to work as?

A bakery owner. It's like my biggest dream, to own a bakery. I grin just thinking about it LOL :p

I'm already doing what I love. Writing.

What is your greatest fear?

Heather Louise
06-26-2007, 12:40 PM
i have two. the first is more rational i think. needles. they terrify me, they make me sick just thinking about them

my second is failure. i am petrified that in life i will acomplish nothing and be a major failure. there are so many things that i want to do before i die and i am scared that i will never do any of them. i do not want to die and no-bodys realises who i am, or is bothered. i want to have my name known and i want to make a difference, and i am terrified that i will not have any of that or the other things i want.

Bick
06-26-2007, 02:08 PM
Allright, we must not laugh at me for this. I fear flushing toilets. Ever since I was a kid when I flush a toilet I run out of the bathroom and never look back. So, flushing the toilet is the last thing I do before leaving the restroom.

To help explain this, have you all heard of AHHH!! Real monsters! It's a tv show back in my day =P The little monsters use to come out of the toilet.

Same question.

SeaBreeze
06-27-2007, 03:16 AM
I fear the usual phobia of spiders.

I fear social situations. I always feel like the perpeptual twelve year old trying to look cool.

Could you explain the 'Cracker' Incident to me? I've never heard of it and it sounds really mean and horrible I just wanted to know. that's all.

Bick
06-27-2007, 07:53 AM
Of course. It was about the middle of my 8th grade school year. We were on our way home after a long day of testing. So as the bus takes off, this girl next to me gets up and has this grin on her face, as if she just heard something really funny. She walks up to my friend and says "Hey... you wanna cracker?" My friend assumed she was just trying to be nice.(Note, my friend is Caucasion too) She takes the cracker and eats it. The girl gives a small giggle, helping me realize her real intensions. I just look at my friend in shock, realizing she had no idea what she just did. This girl was one of the worse ones on yelling at racist names. I had heard them all, but watching her do that to my friend was worse.

It was then I realized she was walking towards me now. I quickly made it look like I was reading and acted surprised when she said "Hey, wanna cracker?" I tell her I don't want one and try my best to ignore her. She asks me again, but I ignore her and say nothing.

She then taps my shoulder and says "Hello, I'm talking to you." Impatience in her voice. She then starts to chant, "Hey cracker, wanna cracker?" A few of the people on the bus join in, and soon enough it's the entire bus chanting it.(Though... I'm sure it wasn't all of them.)

So it finally stops being fun to humiliate me and she takes the cracker, crumbles it up and throws it at me. I don't say a word through this whole thing. I'm not violent, I wasn't going to hit her. I wasn't going to relatiate and do something I would regret. I just sat there in silence, wondering how she even came up with that idea. Racist and cruel or not, I would have never thought of it. I then attempted to get the cracker crumbs off of me. She was so close that she said "Watch it, don't get those crumbs on me."

What is your country/state/city/ like?

SeaBreeze
06-27-2007, 08:19 AM
Wow. I probably would of said something. Your too good.

My state is Western Australia and is a pretty nice place to live. My town is a bit boring, no cinemas! but I lived here all my life so I'm biased. I think! :p There is some great country around here. Great bushland. Great country side. I love visiting other towns and such and looking out the window and seeing massive rolling green hills with creeks running through them. And the creeks are like a dragon has gone along and torn up the country side. There's a place called Palgarup and there was a tale about the Rainbow serpant or a dragon that carved all the creeks and rivers. There is also a place called Walpole (about an hour and a half away) And has something call the the Tree top walk. It's amazing. You climb this ramp and you follow the platform walk thingy higher and higher and your actually walking amongst the tops of the tree tops of Karri Trees and Jarra's. Amazing. Just scary cause the walk-way sways! And these Karri trees are massive. Look around some of your tall buildings and picture a tree that high!

All in all, the area where I live is amazing to look at.

So what's the deal with the cracker? what is the point of it? Why is it a joke?

Bick
06-27-2007, 08:35 AM
It's basically the newer firsion of the word "Honky" Which came from Harlem(I don't know if this is all true, this is what I've been told by a history teacher that I asked.) in which the renters would honk at the rentee's, letting the rentee's know it was time to pay. Most of the time the renters were white, and so we got the word cracker.

I have no idea where the word cracker came from, I'm just guessing it's because our skin color is so close to it. Just a guess.

Now the point of it and why it's a joke goes hand in hand. The point of it is to have a word to insult. It's basically the opposite of the "n" word, and i guess to the racist people it's a funny thing to humilate people.

Are you married?

SeaBreeze
06-27-2007, 08:37 AM
I think it's actually a very pathetic and stupid thing to say to someone! I would probably go: "Er... and you guys think your cool?"

What's your place like?

Bick
06-27-2007, 08:44 AM
(I agree, but you can't help their ignorance :()
My room is a mess, only I can get around in it w.o breaking something. My computer room isn't much better since that's where I spend a lot of my time. The rest of the house is normal. I live with my mum, and we have a roommate, who lives in our basement. He is our hermit :p.

Same question.

SeaBreeze
06-27-2007, 08:50 AM
LMAO. hermit living in your basement. Hmmm My place? My room at my mums? Well, my bed takes up most of the room and so does hte rest of my clutter. I havn't been able to clean in well... a month as I've been staying with my boyfriend from practically every weekend and then some! I have Flamingo pink walls and blinds and grey carpet underneath all my dirty clothes and stuff. The pink was not my idea. I wanted purple but mum wouldn't listen. I have a massive window though ans when I open up the blinds I can see out into the paddock behind us. Very nice in early summer.

What is your job?

Bick
06-27-2007, 08:54 AM
To be a student :p I think I will get a job at the mall when I get home. Then I will try and work only on the weekends when school starts. I have this fear that I will screw up, which is why I've waited almost a year to get a job.

Who are you closest too?

SeaBreeze
06-27-2007, 09:03 AM
Arg! I have a few people. I would say there are five people that I am close to. My dad for one. When I told him that If it wasn't for my boyfriend, I might not be here and it was getting harder and harder to hold onto this silly thing called life, he said that he knew. And it meant so much to me that he realised that. I'm pretty close to my dad now. I'm glad for it!

Same queastion

Bick
06-27-2007, 09:06 AM
I don't really know. I mean I'm close to my real life friends, but I wouldn't tell them certain things. I would consider my mum to be near the top, my sister maybe the last on my top people. I would say my best online friend is the one I'm closest too. I tell him everything and he's just a really great guy that I have known for almost 5 years.

What is your dream place to live?

SeaBreeze
06-27-2007, 09:09 AM
Hmm. Not sure. I wanted to go to Japan but I think the language barrier would stuff me up! Then maybe somewhere in America, a typical movie/tv show like place that's really friendly. With guns! ahahhahahaha! ahem....

What is the number of candles on your cake this year? (:p)

Bick
06-27-2007, 09:14 AM
17 :p Though my alias (whom I was going to be until I noticed my poem was about a girl.. nothing like my alias so I had to change it) is turning 18. Normally when It comes to joining sites, I'm Bick the japanese guy from no where. I use that as a precaution usually, but I like you guys too much to use my alias now :p

Same question

What do you want for your birthday!

Bick
06-27-2007, 09:18 AM
I really want an electric mixer that does the work for you :p Would make cheesecake making so much easier and it would just be nice. I also want one of those pads you draw on but it goes to the computer :p Would help me draw better on the computer.

How do you dress? Like type of clothes, and color wise.

Cogito
06-27-2007, 12:30 PM
For work, I dress in solid color slacks, leather shoes, and a short sleeve button-down shirt with a pocket. I don't do long sleeves as a rule, even in winter. I used to wear colorful Hawaiian shirts to work, but then that was no longer permitted. I don't often wear black shirts at work, but I do sometimes wear a deep blue one. On the rare occasion that I wear a necktie, it is usually solid red, and often with the aforementioned blue shirt.

At home, I usually wear tee shirts, either printed or solid ones with a pocket. I do have some black ones, but I tend more to solid bright colors, particularly red or blue. The printed ones often feature superhero themes, or humorous comments. Some feature wildlife pictures, including several painted by my mother. In warm weather I wear denim or khaki shorts, and in cooler weather I wear long dungarees.

I wear contact lenses rather than glasses - without either I am practically blind. And I don't usually wear a hat. I keep my hair cut pretty short, and prefer to be clean shaven.

I never go commando.

Same question

Bick
06-27-2007, 12:59 PM
I always have my glasses on, as I too can barely see anything without my glasses, though sometimes it's better then other times. I like to be comfortable, if it's not comfy get it away from me. In the house I wear clothes that have long past lost their beauty and are usually stained as I don't think it matters so much what my family thinks.

When I'm out in public I get dressed in jeans, always jeans and some shirt that I found was comfortable. A lot of the times I wear big T-shirts that make me feel comfortable. Other times I wear nice shirts I find at stores randomly.

When I cold, I wear arm warmers. Though at times even when I am not I will wear them if they match what I am wearing. I wear skull head things, and black cabbie hats. I adore hats.

I always have a jacket with me, as they are my security blanket. I've done that ever since I cut my hair off, which use to be my security blanket.

Same question :p

Heather Louise
06-27-2007, 01:30 PM
well, in summer i like to wear demin shorts and little skirts with bright and colourful tops. my favourite shoes are these little silver ones that go with everything, and i always have a belt around my waist. you know the big chunky ones? when i make an effort i like to look casual and summery.

in winter i wear thin black jeans with long jumpers and big belts and coloured slouch boots. last winter that was the trend and it all looks very chic with a hint of goth. oww, or wearing a long bright top with a pair of leggings and boots or shoes looks excellent too. i love winter, with cute little jumpers and i had a really posh long brown coat, like the old 1930's style that nips in at the waist.

when i cannot be bothered i dress like a chav. i wear my Addidas or nike trackies and Mckenzie jackets with chunky trainers and plain vest tops. i never feel either ugly nor beautiful in trackies, so if i cannot be bothered to make an effort then they are perfect.

i keep my hait shoulder length at the moment, although i am trying to grow it long again. i have a side fringe cut in one side and lots of layers and flicks put through. i always try to style my hair, either straightening it or curling it, and i will not leave the house without it looking perfetc. i also always always wear make-up. i little bit of mascara and eyeliner for school, and if i have spots then foundation hides them in a second. if i am going somewhere nice then i wear black and grey eyeshadow as it looks really smokey and nice against me blue eyes.

lol I dress averagely.
I like jeans-tight -loose -whateva. I usually like tighter fitting jeans. I wear tank tops a lot. I wear skirts, and shorts, and capri pants. Any colors, but usually earth tones. My new favorite color to wear is grey. I love zip up sweaters with a hood. I like skater shoes, or pointy toe heels, or round shoe flats. I love flirty earrings, and I usually wear my hair up in a pony rail or a messy bun. I love love love comfy socks. I have har wood floors and my feet need to be cushioned haha. hmmm what else. What is your favorite television show and if you could make your own television show, what would it be about?

Heather Louise
06-29-2007, 09:29 AM
my favourite TV show at the moment has to be House. i have just started watching the very first series from episode one the other day and it is amazing. if i were to make a TV show it would have to be about doctors and psychiatrists and interns and stuff. like a mixture of Greys Anatomy, Scrubs and House. that would be an exellent show i think.

what is your favourite colour and why?

Bick
07-09-2007, 11:45 PM
Orange, I've always found it to be the most beautiful. Beautiful like a peach. Not exactly yellow, since that's just a bit too bright for my taste, and not red which is just too overused.

What is your best childhood memory?

My favorite childhood memeory was being on the beautiful beaches of Provincetown, Massachusetts, every summer with my family. I wish I could go back.

WHy on earth did you vote for George Bush?
(and statistically speaking, you probably did.)

Cogito
07-10-2007, 11:27 AM
(statistically speaking, many members don't even live in the USA)
I voted for him because Gore seemed totally ineffectual, and because I generally vote Republican. Although the execution of the Iraq war has been less than effective, I still believe we did a good thing in removing Hussein. The intelligence at the time, and not only from US sources, was that a great deal of WMD materials were unaccounted for in Iraq. The fact that we never found them is still disturbing - they definitely ended up somewhere, and there are no records that they have been destroyed either. My suspicion is that they were shipped out of Iraq clandestinely, and are in hostile hands elsewhere.

What motivated you to begin writing, and how has your motivation changed from then?

goodtik
07-10-2007, 12:11 PM
lets say, just for example, that only 80% of the writers on this website are from AMerica. Personally, I'd bet that its more like 90%, but that is a different issue.
Now if 80% of us are American, then 51% of that 80% voted for that bonehead. Thats 40% of us. That is still a true statement, as less than 40% of us voted for our only hope to avoid global warming, environmental destruction, ruthless big business practices, and war.
Don't believe all the hype you see on the news. Those wmd's were foi's (figments of imagination).
oops, sorry to get into an argumant, there. Hope I didnt offend anyone. just responding to the last post. I also seem to have forgotten his question, and cant get to see it now. sorry.

I didn't even get to vote D= Lucky for me I turn 18 just in time to vote this next year :D Which is exciting for me... rofl.

(answering cogito's question)

When I first began to write, I wrote because unlike many of my grade school friends, I could get out a full idea and I got praised by my parents. That is a rarity, so I wrote because of that. Now I write because I overthink and I have to find a way to get those stupid ideas out of my mind. I've been know to not sleep because I have an idea that I can't stop thinking about.

Are you going to see the new Harry Potter and are you staying up 10 days after that at midnight to get the book?

goodtik
07-10-2007, 03:09 PM
no, the best I can do is this... I have signed-up at my local library to be on the waiting list for the new book. i dont think I can afford to go to the movie, either. I have been reading the british newsites, though, and today she said she was going to keep writing more books about potter. I knew she would.
Do you believe in magic?

Bick
07-10-2007, 03:12 PM
(You just made my day! You really did, that makes me happy, though that definitely gives away that Potter will not die this book then. She should have said that after the book came out! My friends all thought he would die.)

No not in the least, though I will give it the benefit of the doubt. I see no point in completely denying the possibility of something when the world has so many possibilities.

If you could redo any moment in your life, what would it be?

goodtik
07-10-2007, 03:17 PM
yeah, he definately does not die, and she said today that she will consider writing more books in the series. there was also a news story yesterday that she spent the night in a hotel crying her eyes out when she finished the book, and that one of the last words in the book is 'scar.'
no, I dont believe in magic either.
anyway,I would have asked Eve Ning Darling to marry me. man, I really screwed that one up.
do you like to feed the birds outside your home?

Bick
07-10-2007, 03:22 PM
I love it, though normally I put it in the feeder. There is one Robin that I nursed back to health that will jump on my hand if I put food in it. I named him Earl =P
Hm. If I could take any moment back, that would be the day I attacked my dad. Big mistake =P

Do you consider yourself having a great imagination?

goodtik
07-10-2007, 06:57 PM
yay Bick! that sounded like a weird, tough day. I like to feed expensive sunflower seeds to black capped chickadees.
then we chat about my latest twisting plot-lines and poetic imagery I am trying to work into my short stories and poems. sometimes they give me good ideas, but most often, you see, I have them beat, because,
yes, I do have a good imagination. maybe too good.

There is this chinese dish that I will say I /adore/ It has fantastic flavour, chicken and baby corn. It has no name since the chinese resturant made is special for me until they went out of business a few years back.

Do you enjoy cooking, and what is your best dish?

I love to cook. I did it for four years before I became a creative writing teacher. I love to cook Chinese food the best. I make a chinese stir-fry with bok choy, ****akes, and tofu which is awesome. Here, have some! Be careful, its very spicy.
what do you think you'll be doing in ten years? honest.

Bick
07-10-2007, 08:10 PM
Hm. I'll be about 27 then. Hopefully I'll be out of college and a pastry chef, though I doubt it. I will probably end up getting married young and being a stay at home mom and showing my recipes and cooking to my children.
(I also love to cook, even more then I like to write. Creative writing? =D Nice. I'm taking that class this year, excited =P It's about the only class I really want to take.)

no no dont get married, then. become a pastry chef. god it is so much fun. I did pastry for almost two years, the whole bit too. fancy french restaurants, the best desserts from vienna, god that was so much fun. never lost my taste for sweets either. You should do it. you'll never regret it. one of the best jobs in the world. seriously. go to a good cooking school, like the cia.
anyway, I'll probably be tiny specks of fine white ash at the bottom of the cape cod bay by then.

What do you like best about nature?

goodtik
07-10-2007, 09:22 PM
yeah, I've heard about some violence n St. Louis.
my favorite thing about nature is the trees. I love trees. all trees, even dead ones, which serve a purpose. That was a hard question to answer, though, as I love so many things about nature. but I guess the first thing I really fell in love with about nature is the tree.
alright, enough sap. the horror writer side of me now wants to know this:
What is the single most disgusting and horrible thing which could happen to someone involving crochet supplies?

Bick

I love trees too! In my woods I visit this one tree that was named the Liberty tree, it was growing during the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It fell about 2 years ago, and for now it just lays there. It's nice to just sit on, you can see over my school and enjoy the breeze.

Well I suppose getting your eye poked out by a crochet needle, I almost did that today =P My yarn got all tangled and I was untangling it and my hand flew when i got a knot out and i poked my mums boyfriend in the eye with the needle :p

Babysitting =P then crocheting, then the site. Though the kids have a nap soon so I get to knock one off. Though I get to cook lunch as they sleep.

Could you please describe for us your personal library. How many books do you have, what are the oldest ones, and what are your favorite ones?

Bick
07-11-2007, 10:14 AM
My library is a mess, since my books can't fit in the two shelves I have. Most of them are children books for the kids I babysit. I have some from my own childhood though most are from garage sales and such. The giving tree is a must. I have a lot of shel silverstein, my collection of poe. I have a lot of mystery and Nancy Drew books from back in the day :p When I actually liked that stuff. My oldest book would be my Poetic Collection of John Greenleaf Wittier which is actually my newest, I got it when I went to see my grandmother on her deathbed. It's from the 1880's.

My favorite is the Poe, my book of Monet's collections(also has his auto biography in it) and The 13 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear, which I read on a regular basis.

Same question.

goodtik
07-11-2007, 10:26 AM
yay for Bick. what class.
it sounds like you are already working on a nice little library there. I like the sounds of your book choices. Yes, I love Poe, too, and I think ALL of his poems are marvelous. I also love Shel Silverstien, and the Giving Tree is a sure sign of class and intelliegnece. I read that book to my classes all the time, to teacvh them how much trees do for us, and how poorly we treat them It often makes me cry reading it to them, though.
My libraray has over a thousand books. of course, I have been working on it for many years now. I am 45.
I have been collecting old books for three yers now, and I now have about one hundred books that are over one hundred years old. Most of it is horror or poetry. My oldest book is a collection of Robert Burn's letter, from 1817. The favorites are the classic horror poets, like Shelley, Poe, and Milton.
I love leather-bound books, but I do not buy leather clothes.
What do you look like?

Bick
07-11-2007, 10:31 AM
I have an acne problem at this point in time =P Though I'm clearing that up. I have really thick brown, layered hair. It use to nearly go to my waist but I cut it in that locks of love thing, when a close family friend died of cancer. I'm really short, at least I think so. I'm barely 5'4. I have stubby fingernails, that I chew when I get nervous. I have feet that are never clean because I walk barefoot outside. I have brown eyes, and erm x) Not sure what else to say.

07-11-2007, 10:40 AM
He was in my mum's coffee group. All men and women 40+. I'm the only younger one that joins them. He was the coolest, he was an old Indian/country singer. He has this voice that was just awesome. It was deep and it made you feel warm inside, I suppose you could put it that way. He had lost is wife just a few months before this all happened. I would just sit down for hours and talk. A few months before he died he gave me his bird, he said that it needed a better home. The bird ended up dying a few months after he did, sadly enough.

He lived a nice long life though, he was 71.

Have you ever seen the St. Louis arch?

goodtik
07-11-2007, 10:45 AM
awww, thats so sad. It was nice that he gave you his bird, though. What kind of bird? Why did the bird die too?
yeah, I saw the arch driving through St. Louis.

Bick
07-11-2007, 10:52 AM
Up close the arch is a sad sight. :( So much carvings from the stupid people.

It was a Cockatiel, his name was Zach. He had an attitude problem :p but he really was a sweetie.

I'm pretty sure he died of natural causes, we got him when he was already really old. I'm also sure he knew he was going to die. He kept jumping from his cage (you probably think I'm insane for leaving his cage open, but he hated when I took him out =P So I let him come out when he wanted to, and then I would play with him.) and he would come up to me and act meek and want attention. Sadly, I was sick that day and kept putting him back because I didn't feel well.

He ended up dying the next morning, which wasn't great timing.
(I have to go, sister is taking the kids and I out for lunch =P)

Does death bother you and have you lost anyone really close to you?

goodtik
07-11-2007, 11:03 AM
oh, thats so sad.
death is everywhere we look, it is in everything we touch and feel, and it waits for us at all times.
just about everyone I have loved has died.
I am practically alone in this world, and as I wait patiently for my own death, I write of the horrors lurking around each corner. I do not fear death.
It may happen to me this very afternoon.

How do you react when you meet severely depressed people?

Bick

Please describe for us, in some detail, the route or path you walk or drive on everyday to get to work or school!

Bick
07-12-2007, 10:29 AM
Rofl, oh. Told you I was tired!

Okay, well when it's not wet, or too cold I walk to school. It's a nice 1.5 mile walk, so I leave an hour earlier then I need to. So that's usually around 6am. I first go up the busy street that my street goes off into, I take a left on a residential street that I really need to rethink. It's very dangerous, people speed up the road. I then go through someone's yard (how very rude of me.) and I go across a field that they do not own. In the far back of the field is a cliff... basically. No ones goes there since it looks dangerous. I might have to agree, I've gotten hurt on it many times. I walk on the side of that cliff until I get to the man made dam that they made back in the 60's. God ugly dam. It's very ridgey? I suppose that could be the word, it's sharp in many places, but it's not hard to climb up and down if you've been doing it for years like I have. I climb down, cross over it(going over some water.) and I climb up the other side into a nice little deer path. I go through that path for about 5 minutes, take a quick left (i've marked it so I don't get lost so easily.) and go that direction for a bit in which I hit a path made by my school. I then take that path to where the Liberty Tree sits. I always give it a pat before I leave, late that morning or not. (If I'm early I will sit on it for a bit.) I go down the rest of the path, which takes me to the outskirts of the football field and the edge of a fence that I either jump or go around. (depends what shoes I'm wearing.) Wala. I'm at school.

Same question.

oh, thats so cool. it sounds like a really pretty walk...
is that a dam or a cliff?
I thought you were tired last night. Out late partying?
I'll describe my morning dog walk for you if you like.
down my block there are few houses, all of them stately manor homes with great yards. then I have to turn down carpenter lane for one short and ugly block. at the train station we turn left, as usual, to pass in front of the commodore barry club for irish peole. I wish they would let me come in for a chat now and then, but no... then I pass in front of an ancient apartment building where I once lived with my cat. then its down the block of emlen street, cool and breezy, to the corner of pelham and emlen. I check to see if my old car is still parked on the corner of slocum and pelham. then I have to pick up my dog's newest offering to the street. then it is past some really big mansions, and one which is being renovated in the slowest and ugliest manner. now I am back on my block, and I have to hold my breath as I pass the first old rowhomes on the block. phew, how can anyone live like that? then its back up the stairs to my building, to check on the vegetables growing on my porch.

Yes, I would since I see no point in not forgiving him =P

What is your favorite and least favorite topic? Explain why.

goodtik
07-12-2007, 12:03 PM
favorite topic in the whole world? wow, that is an interesting one. probably something to do with proper and dignified literary treatment of horror setting, plots, and characters (monster, too) and how this has changed over the centuries. Horror is ageless, you know.
my worst subject to discuss, in the whole wide world, would probably be something in the second year of algebra. I'm not sure which particular topic, probably something like quadratic equations. They frustrate me.

Ionno, I like the way John Lennon said it in his song.

"Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one"

I love that song =P

Bick
07-15-2007, 01:55 PM
Something I never talk about to people. But meh, it's the past, I suppose I can say it. (rofl. My heart beats faster just thinking about it.)

It was like a year ago, and my dad was having real bad problems with his medicine. He had horrible mood swings and no one wanted to be around him. He flew home for the weekend and went nuts screaming about "where is my jacket?!" he went all over the house, tore up our closets. He made me look through the clothes. I kept quiet until my mum got home and I told her what had happened.

They got in an argument, and the topic of divorce came up. Then came the topic of "We are much happier w/o you." Now my dad was already in an unstable mood, and he started to go... what I say is crazy. Like in the movies, he was grabbing his head, ranting and screaming. That was when he took the ironing board that was laying against the wall and ran at my mother with it. Not saying that what I did was smart, but it worked. I put myself in front of her, and that made my dad stop.

We ran out of the house and got into the car. As I put my seatbelt on, i heard my mother scream. You know those screams you only hear in horror movies? That was the scream. I looked over and there was my dad with a brick mid-air. If my mother hadn't screamed, he would have thrown it at her through an open window.

I've never been able to forgive him for that. Don't think I will either.

Same question.

I've always been afraid of heights, but at the same time, I try to push back at my fears. So several years ago I was riding a Ferris Wheel at an amusement park. At the time, it had bench style seats, with a safety bar that latched at one end with a hinge on the other end. So I was clutching the bar as the Wheel turned, but starting to relax, when the bar unlatched and started to swing straight out in front of me! I let go of the bar and white-knuckled the sides of the bench during the rest of the ride. Every time they stopped the wheel to let people off, the bench swung back and forth, and I was terrified I would fall off.

They have since modified that Ferris Wheel so it consists of enclosed platforms with facing pairs of benches, and I can ride them without fear.

what would you do if you accidentally fell into a cave outside of Jerusalem, did not get hurt, started wandering around for awhile until you found some kind of ancient amulet, either of silver or gold, and you took this amulet with you as you left the cave. Back in the hotel, you begin to notice that the amulet has some kind of magical force about it, which seems to magnify your thoughts on certain subjects??? What would you do I say?? And be specific... no little 2 or 3-word answers, please. Lets use our imagination on this one!

Bick

Really, I wouldn't know what to do with it. I'm sure I'd bring it to my mother, asking her what to do. Then, I'd do what she told me to do. Oh no. Bick can't think for herself? Yes. Yes she can, but in moments like that I lack wisdom and my mother has that.

Top five favorite books and why?

Cogito
07-17-2007, 12:46 PM
Not sure if this would be my all time top 5, but:

The Lord of the Rings trilogy (treat as one book) a truly amazing bit of fantasy writing, that made fantasy fiction mainstream.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince bought whole new depths to many of the key characters of the series, and had a stunning ending.

Ringworld. An incredible concept, and the various species of Niven's universe are vivid and delightfully distinctive.

Thrice Upon A Time (James P. Hogan) A very different and logical view of temporal mechanics.

2001: A Space Odyssey (Arthur C. Clarke) Surreal and visionary, and although cryptic, it made much more sense than the movie.

Same question, but let's just go for the top 3

Bick
07-17-2007, 12:55 PM
1) 13 1/2 lives of Captain Bluebear. It was like he was in my mind... I suppose you could say that. That's just the kind of thing I want to write, though I couldn't.

2) Artemis Fowl Series- Love the characters, I feel as if I know them. Def. goes above the Harry Potter series in my eyes. I love Harry Potter but for some reason I'm growing out of it.

3) The Best American Science Writing 2006. Weird right? Not my type of reading but it's so interesting :x and it's quite enjoyable. I haven't gotten to all of the articles just yet but I will say I'm glad I got the book.

What's your favourite food?

Cogito
07-19-2007, 10:27 AM
I don't really have a single favorite food, but pizza is probably one of the ones I choose most often. Among pizzas, one I particularly enjoy making and eating has prosciutto with caramelized onions, and a white cream sauce made with lemon, garlic, black pepper, and Parmesan and Asiago cheeses.

Same question.

Hmmm. I'd say Grapenuts Cereal. Love the stuff. Though, I adore spinache, and artichoke heart pizza as well.

THe Ferret: The warrior god of cunning in a universe similar to redwall, but more violent.

You push people away to get closer to them?

Bick
07-20-2007, 04:51 AM
Not really sure. I tend to cling to certain people, then others I kind of push away. Though there are many I push away to get away from. It all depends on the situation and the person. My normal group of friend I tend lose contact with when not at school, since I really like my alone time.

What type of people do you tend to hang out with? Are they anything like you?

What was your first job?

Cogito
07-20-2007, 11:55 AM
Serving popcorn, sausage sandwiches, and soft drinks at the raceway down the road. A typical summer job. After that I worked in the Maintenance department at the juvenile facility where my mother worked as a psychiatric social worker. We in Maintenance worked alongside the boys, doing everything from janitorial work to plumbing, painting, and carpentry. It was a low-security institution laid out like a boarding school, for teenage boys who had gotten into trouble but who were considered salvageable.

Bick
07-20-2007, 05:55 PM
My ability to not drink and take the keys away from anyone that does. :p Just depends on the party. Usually I am the story teller on the "decent" parties. I have a nack for turning situations into silly stories that my friends enjoy. They dubbed me the wise leader in one of those stories :p

When you think, what do you normally think about? Do you think often? Does it cause problems?

dushechka
07-20-2007, 09:49 PM
I think about really random things. Politics, life, anarchy (don't ask about that.. lol), conspiracies, writing techniques, history, war, the fate of mankind, my life's twisted path, pianists, God, my own inadequate philosophical escapades. I think as often as possible, and it usually only causes problems if I speak about it, which is actually very rare.

What are your top five life goals? Why?

Bick
07-21-2007, 12:18 AM
1) To stop thinking so much.

Sounds wierd but yes. I think so much that sometimes I will get so caught up into it, I could end up somewhere lost. I've done that quite a few times while taking a walk. My thinking makes me restless. I have to do some kind of movement just to think. Irritating.

2) Concentrate better in school

This goes along with the thinking thing. Though, I should find out if I have ADD first before hitting myself in the head for this.

3) Graduate

Goes with number 2. I am so far behind, that I can barely be considered a freshman. I'm a **** up, and I need to do better in school. GRaduating is going to be tough. Dropping out is not an option though.

4) Go to Culinary arts school. I need to finish #3 to do so.

5) Become a Pastry Chef. Dream job.

Same question but 3 instead of 5.

Eoz Eanj
07-21-2007, 01:39 AM
1) to stay alive. A realistic goal that should be reasonably easy to achieve.

2) graduate and get good scores in my final exams which, naturally, determines whether or not I may go to university.

3) make good fudge which isn't sickly sweet and doesn't cause tongues to curl and tastebuds wither.

Do you tend to swear alot? Explain.

Bick
07-21-2007, 03:06 PM
It depends where I am and whom I'm with. You won't catch me dead cursing in front of my elders. I live with the motto "If you want respect, you must show it first." So I won't curse in front of them, it's disrespectful. In front of my friends I don't hold my tongue. I don't really curse that often though, normally it's when I'm angry.
(Hrm. I make this awesome fudge, i could type out the recipe if you want, and send it to you. Very easy to make and always comes out right.)

Do you like to hand write or type better? Are there certain times when one is better then the other? (Rofl. My sentences are coming out terrible right now, reallllly tired. Not done with that damned book yet!)

Kit
07-21-2007, 03:34 PM
Generally, I prefer to type. However, I prefer to handwrite my first draft of any new story/chapter.

What was the last thing that you did that lead to you being dissapointed in yourself? Explain.

Bick
07-21-2007, 03:55 PM
What was the last thing that you did that lead to you being dissapointed in yourself? Explain.

I feel disappointed in myself a lot. Though, the latest one that made me feel worse was when I was getting suspended for skipping school. I went in to pick up some stuff and standing there talking to my mum about what had happened was my two favorite teachers. I had never felt so disappointed when they looked at me. They didn't even give me a smile for reassurance. My heart ached after that. Losing respect is worse then anything for me.

Same question.

Bick
07-22-2007, 10:13 PM
I like to take wheat bread, put it in a sandwich bag, then take some lunch meat, put some mustard in between the two slices of it to keep it moist, put that in a bag. I put a frozen drink in there so it's cold when i get to it, an apple and side of compacted ramen :p

What do you like about school, what don't you like about it?

dushechka
07-23-2007, 03:33 PM
You mean, what did I used to like about it? =P

I'm not sure I liked anything about it, honestly. Being homeschooled definitely put a damper on my excitement. Though I always loved learning (and still do) my favorite subjects were history (mainly wars) and literature. Least favorite was probably math, mostly due to my inability to grasp any of the neat concepts.

What's your favorite kind of weather? Why?

Kit
07-23-2007, 04:16 PM
Either... Thunderstorms because they fascinate me and I like to sit in my window and watch the lightning... or hot but dry because I can get a decent tan and I hate it being hot and humid lol.

Same question.

Cogito
07-23-2007, 04:51 PM
I love thunderstorms, especially mountain thunderstorms in which the clouds race dramatically across the sky. I love the cloud to cloud lightning that shows as a strobing diffuse glow within tha clouds, and stabbing brilliant ground strikes accompanied by crashing and rumbling echoing thunder. I love the pounding rain and the way the leaves turn upside down before the storm in preparation.

Same question, one more time.

Bick
07-23-2007, 08:36 PM
Oddly, I dislike rain. It prevents me from seeing my woods. It's dangerous to cross a dam when it's full of water.

Hrm. I like it when the sun is out, and partly covered by clouds. The temperature is cool enough that you need a small jacket. I like the ground to be sturdy, so it can't have rained in a while. That's my perfect weather there :p

What is the one thing you wish you could do?

Bick
07-25-2007, 07:34 PM
What was the greatest victory of your life (so far).

Oddly enough, that happened while I was skipping school with a group of friends in my woods. We were lost. Really lost. I slapped a hand everytime they tried to smoke. It was wet and for all I knew we were going deeper into them. We then had someone fall down a cliff. We had no choice but to follow, since we couldn't leave them behind.

Then after the fact that we all jumped down there and were stuck, we noticed there was no way back up. So here we are all panicking, not knowing what to do. I do my thing, meaning I block them out and I think. I see the only way up to to climb the cliff. So I grab onto the mud filled cliff and after 10 minutes of struggling to get up... I get up. I then pulled everyone else up and we found our way home.

I was kind of proud of myself x) Even though we were doing the wrong thing in the first place.

What is the one thing you wish you could do?

I wish I could go back in time and not screw off in school. That's about it.

What is the most calming sound to you?

When you think of warmth, what is your first thought and why do you think so?

Cogito
07-25-2007, 08:40 PM
A crackling fire in the fireplace in my mother's living room. My grandfather built that house, including the fireplace, and in cold weather everyone sits in a half circle around the fireplace.

That house is in the middle of a pine forest in the mountains, next to a clear mountain brook. The outside is faced with flat stones - again, my grandfather's work.

What is the most peaceful place you know, and why?

Bick
07-25-2007, 08:46 PM
In my woods, on top of the Liberty tree. It's surrounded by just woods, and not far away a school. It's secluded and so peaceful. No one goes there, since they think it's off limits.

Bick
04-06-2008, 08:22 PM
I would love to go back to Japan with my grandmother before she dies, and I'd like to see her live to see my children born.

I regret not seeing my friend before he died. I stopped going because it hurt to see him in such bad condition, and I let school consume me and give me a reason not to see him. I didn't get to be there for him, because I was selfish. I wish I could take that back.

If you were to make you life into a movie, do you think people would come to see it? What would you title it? Who would play the staring role?

soujiroseta

i think people might not come see it, it would be an average thing. i'd probably call it Schizophrenia, sounds lame but thats what i would call it. i would probably get some unknown actor who i've interviewed thoroughly and spent some time with so he knows exactly how messed up i really am.

If you could meet any 5 people in your lifetime, who would it be?

Neha
04-07-2008, 05:04 AM
I don't want to meet any 5 living people, just one dead person.....my grandfather.......I'll ask him, why he had to die and leave my grandmother alone, that she had to face poverty and hardships in bringing up 4 kids, which hardened up her so much that she doesn't care about us.

What's the one thing you're parents did/do, which you won't do to your kids...??

Bick
04-07-2008, 06:41 PM
I'm not going to say they ever did anything that I won't do, because really most of the things that happened had a reason, or it was from mental instability, so I'm just going to be the best parent I can be when I do have my children. I will be a bit more strict then my mother is with me though.

well i think unless they are told so repetitively it boils down to the fact that everyone looks in the mirror and sees something wrong with them even if there isnt. in this world super-obsessed with perfection everyone wants to be just that, ive not met anyone who looks in the mirror and says im perfect, well i did once but she was on a whole different level of crazy and prescription pills.

im going to tear a page out of bick's book here and forward the question.

Basically what you said. People look at these models and these actresses and think that's what beauty is. That's about all I can say, you got it right on the spot there :P

Do you like Comedy? Do you ever think you could be one? Explain what you think your first stand-up show would become.

soujiroseta

i love comedy, but being a comedian has crossed my mind but very few people get my jokes as it so my first stand up would probably be a hit entitled "Watch this guy make an ass out of himself for a little money"

do you think you could be a life saver like a fireman, policeman, lifeguard etc? and if so which would it be and why?

Bick
04-11-2008, 10:14 PM
I don't think I could. But I wouldn't mind being one of those people from the Suicide hotlines, I would love to be able to save lives that way. I'm just not that great at advice.

Do you think you would ever have the courage to jump in front of a bullet for someone? What is one person you would die for?

soujiroseta
04-11-2008, 10:18 PM
yes i think i could do it. the one person in the world who could use me as a human shield is my mother. she spent an entire 34h23m in labor with me and she reminds me everyday. it's the least i could do.

same question

Bick
04-11-2008, 10:22 PM
I'm not sure, maybe if the moment ever came my body would do it all and I wouldn't have much thought in it. If you really think about it, would you even have time to think whether or not you're going to go in front of that bullet? You'd have to react incredibly fast, so you'd have to know you would die for that person before it ever happened. I don't really know who I'd die for. I would like to think I would die for my mother, or my sister or even my friends. They mean the world to me.

If you could do absolutely /anything/ what would it be?

i would make everyone in the world super happy for just one day, no war, no crime, no drugs, no death, no pain, no sickness. all for the reason that people can see how wonderful the world can be and aim to achieve it. i know what it's like to chase something which you've never experienced.

how do you feel about snakes?

Bick
04-11-2008, 10:36 PM
I actually adore them :P I wouldn't go touching one I knew was poisoness of course. I have been known to grab garder snakes from under things and play with them. My mother never let me keep them, sadly enough :( When I do eventually move out, I plan on getting a small one.

Same question.

you set this up, you know about my secret fear of snakes and are preying on it to expose me. okay fine i dont give in to threats. i find them totally disgusting the most evil dangerous and ugly looking creatures god did create. they creep me out with they're winding bodies and sharp fangs. i was in a room with a cobra once...it stared me down for a whole 20min before i fainted, then i woke up and found it was a plastic toy. GOOD ONE!!! april fools is a stupid holiday!!!!

how often do you find yourself looking at your world and smiling?

(Neha why don't you think you're beautiful? You're such a lovely person on the inside, and if those pictures in your gallery are you, then of course your beautiful. Even if they aren't I bet you are.)

(oww!! that's so cute,...but I ain't beautiful, not even pretty, oh! I'm a chic, sophisticated and attitude with applitude kinda person, not to boast, but I've always been told that....and I'm a smart ass, with a smart counterattack always ready...but I ain't beautiful.....there's a lot of standard to live up to....you saw me in my gallery?? well you must've seen my friends too, and I'll upload one of my sis's.......that's beauty)

Never, I laugh a lot...but I don't smile much, rarely in fact, and only when I'm with others, I put on this fake smile..

what would be the one thing you would be ready to exchange lives with Angelina Jolie?

That gives you personality and spunk. That's exactly what makes you a beautiful person on the inside. Your friends might be beautiful, but you have a beauty of your own and you shouldn't deny yourself that. Well, I'll stop there :p

I don't think I'd change anything, I wouldn't mind having all that money of course :p But that's about it.

Who is your favorite author? Did they create your favorite character? Who is your favorite character from a book/story? Who is your favorite character that you have created?

My favorite author is Walter Moers, and yes he did create my all time favorite character. His name is the Shadow King :P He's just awesome. He was made into a monster after some brute shark-grub found how great of an author he was. He's a grey character. The favorite character that I created was Pete/The Pea :p He's just a veggie super hero.

What is your favorite tale/story? Tell it in short.

lol....thanks for that, it made me smile. As for guys in India, they say that, but I know what flukes they are, and there's just this competition goin' between them, who'll get me as their gf, like I'm some prize or something, as if, it's just cos I don't date, or didn't.....and my boy-f juh ended up two-timin' on me, so it must be something wrong in me right?

I don't need it, I'd donate it to charity.

Do you think, when you've reached your ripe old age, you'd want to go back to your teens if given a chance??

Bick
04-14-2008, 10:40 AM
No, I really don't. Maybe to be young again but I would never want to relive my teenage years. They are so far the hardest, but who knows maybe I have some worse things ahead of me.

Describe your latest dream.

Neha

I got this nightmare, that I'm back with Nisha and gals, I don't want to be, but I am and this time I've become like them, started ignoring Sakshi, Esha and Katyaeni.......it was so terrible!

Love and Hate....can you explain them in terms of science? if no, then doesn't the assumption that science is the ans for everything seem a fluke?? And doesn't that make the base of humanity weak?

soujiroseta

It's gotta be roast chicken with fries-homemade. the commercial stuff is too greasy makes me puke sometimes. Of course i like to cook...for me. i am good at stirring up anything from a fried egg to upside down cakes but my pride was when a friend of mine taught me the proper way to make
Côtelettes d’Agneau Béarnaise à la Menthe, Fufu de Patate Douce
Pan-fried lamb cutlets with mint bearnaise sauce,
crushed spicy sweet potatoes with bacon and onions

for desert my fav is dark chocolate tart complimented by a fromage blanc sorbet:D

Bick
