Prior to now we haven't had a really distinct logo. I think this is a good improvement, and I welcome your thoughts.

I've also made some changes to the menu color and position. Does the top menu on the left seem out of place in contrast to the secondary menu?

Feel free to share your thoughts on the new logo and change in the menu.

If you prefer the old header, it will still be available at least until we upgrade our software. Simply change back to "Writing Forums v2" in the drop-down menu at the bottom-left of the page.

Ged - I think you're right. I think the ad block with the background looks slightly out of place. I'm going to keep working on it and perhaps re-extend the rounded-cornered background, though perhaps a different background image. I'm not sure what exactly mean by platform, but for the logo I hired an independent designer. I can message you his email, if you're looking for a designer.

What she is saying is to have the option for different color schemes. The default would obviously be blue, but if someone were to say want something else colorwise it should be available.

But I'd stick with the current look. It is easy to read and it's simple and it's just nice. :)

The layout at the top of the page looks odd though - could you not move the nav bar back to origional, and then switch the advert and logo position? That way the add would be seperate, and the WF stuff would all be together? Just my two pennies anyway :)

Nice logo, but I think it looks a smidgen too large compared to the ad area to the right.

When you have a wide screen, it also looks weird that the logo clings to the left side of the page, leaving a large empty area between the logo and the ad area. Maybe the logo should be centred in that space instead?

I would like the wrod Creative incorporated into the logo. You had begun rebranding the site with that word in the title, even though the url isn't changing, and I like that rebranding.

I think it suits the character of the site.

I also think I would soften the logo's contrast a bit, to make it match the image strip to the right better.

EDIT: I just noticed another thing - when you make the browser window smaller, the graphic in the ad area is cut off, so the left corners become square instead of rounded. It looks odd, since the right corners are still rounded.

I agree with the suggestion of adding 'creative' to the logo. It really suits this place and that is already how I think of the forums.

I don't like the changes to the navigation. However, it wouldn't be an issue if two things change:

Make the 'writing forum' font bigger. The F of the feather is so long and big that it makes it seem like the logo is off-center when it's really not. So, I would suggest either making the font bigger or making the 'F' smaller

Other than that... cool!

That's normally how forums are set up...and then the "add space" can go at the bottom of the page...

Prior to now we haven't had a really distinct logo. I think this is a good improvement, and I welcome your thoughts.

I've also made some changes to the menu color and position. Does the top menu on the left seem out of place in contrast to the secondary menu?

Daniel, I really like the label on its' own, but I think it upsets the balance of the pen and quill to the right of it. That design looked very nice on its' own, the pen being a quite strong design that sat to the very left. But I think it's been offset a little by the new label.

Background color for the logo is off as compared to the rest of the blue background when I view in Ubuntu/Firefox. Seemed to look fine under Windows/Opera. Not sure if others are experiencing the color mis-match, but I think that could be solved across platforms if you simply had the logo as a transparent image.

I think it would definitely help with "spacing" or making it feel more centered if there were an oval around the words, or a "rounded-cornered" box of some sort. The feather could then perhaps conform to the shape of the box in some way. If we had some sort of border, we could then make it look less like it's floating around up there too far to the left in its current "box" of space, having only the color be its border.

I'm viewing the site with Chrome. I don't know if it appears better with other browsers but the logo and header are obscured by the advertisement.

I also agree with Cogito about adding the word "creative". As well as being more informative it distinguishes this site from the original WritingForums.

Hang on a second....everyone keeps saying "add space" but all I see to the right of the logo is a quill and scroll...go add blockers!!! LOL!!!! (*** maybe I shouldn't admit this) hmmm you know I was thinking...what if the quill scroll thingie AND the logo were combined in one big banner? That's normally how forums are set up...and then the "add space" can go at the bottom of the page...

Very good designs you two. Thanks for giving it ago. I think I want to keep the new logo, but I do appreciate the feedback you're giving here. If we launch a newsletter/ezine, you two should consider applying for the design positions. ;)

I shrunk the logo a bit as well as the ad background. Is it still a problem for smaller browser (the logo being cut off by the ad)? Does the ad space look awkward? More ideas?

As far as modifying the logo, I'm not sure adding creative would look good cosmetically. Perhaps adding creative or some other slogan below the quill? That's an idea I've been toying with - perhaps make the "F" quill actually writing some text - some slogan perhaps? Anyone have any slogan ideas?

A different color scheme would be nice for variety. It's not impossible, it's just low on the priority list. What sort of alternative theme would everyone like? A darker one or a lighter one?

As far as color I'd just like the option to change the color I view it in myself. I can do this on other forums. Like if I want everything to be pink, I change it to pink. So you can choose colors like black, pink, red, green, blue, yellow, purple, orange, gray, etc.

On pink it would make everywhere there is dark blue, dark pink, and the light blue would be light pink, but it wouldn't change what anyone else could see. It would just be my own personalization. And I would have the option of keeping it in classic - so it would look like it does now. I hope this makes sense and I'm not just rambling like a crazy person....

Yeah. I made a reference to that, above, because when using Linux it is very noticeable, and not a subtle difference at all. I think recoloring the background, or maybe making the logo transparent (if possible) is a good idea.

What she is saying is to have the option for different color schemes. The default would obviously be blue, but if someone were to say want something else colorwise it should be available.

I'd like that option - right now I'm on three different forums, all with the shades of blue - makes it very difficult to remember which one I'm on (including which one allows what). But then I tend to be a bit fuddled most of the time anyway...

Really? I've never had any problem with books, magazines, or newspapers with their black on white ;) But seriously, the color of the text doesn't bother me so much as wanting to individualize things so I can remember where I'm at. Once I get into a discussion, I come out of it sometimes not sure where I am until I see a logo or something. It can be very disconcerting. (Well, for people like me who can't remember longer than 10 minutes past...:p)
