...where the hell is everyone? I'm the only one online, and it's scaring the hell outta me!

*rocks back and forth in the corner, whimpering*

Well I've been on for the last 50 mins.

But now has to leave for a while. So keep on rocking in the free world.

Sorry. I was lurking in the darkness.

I was out braving the vile heat and sun, in an attempt to fix my computer and buy a phone.
Its a lot harder then I thought it would be.
It would probably help if my computer was more compliant with Asian technology, and I actually spoke the language.

Silly foreigner.

Banzai
08-13-2007, 06:19 AM
How long are you in China for, Domoviye?

Domoviye
08-13-2007, 06:25 AM
Until they stop extending my visa, I get a job in another country, or I decide to move.
So I have no idea.
The closest thing I have to a plan, is that I won't return to Canada for five years, unless I get married and have a kid (I'm not trusting the healthcare of a second or third world country if I have to look after a baby), or become a successful author and can support myself on writing alone.

Banzai
08-13-2007, 06:37 AM
Fun. So is the polution there as bad as I've heard?

Domoviye
08-13-2007, 06:40 AM
Yes.

Shanghai was the worst. I barely saw the sun due to smog until my last week there.
The smaller rivers and canals were basically open sewers.
And as the plane began to descend, my nostrils became plugged up within a minute. I've heard similar stories from some other travellers.
The parts I generally stayed in weren't horrid, but they weren't clean by any means.

They shouldn't make enemies... with stuff like that, an attack would be hard to fend off.

Banzai
08-13-2007, 06:43 AM
One of my friends visited Beijing a week ago. He said that the polution was the equivalent to smoking 40 cigarettes a day. Which he does anyway, so I don't envy his lungs...

Some of us have to work you know, we can't swan about on this fine medium all day!

Well get a better job then.
<Sheesh everyone misses the obvious answers to lifes little problems.>

As for Beijings pollution. After Shanghai I haven't really noticed.
It looks fairly good for a city of its size, so not the healthiest, but not horrifying.

Banzai
08-13-2007, 07:04 AM
Will you still be there for the olympics then?

Domoviye
08-13-2007, 07:10 AM
I have no idea. But probably not.
Most of the jobs I'm looking at are in smaller cities.
They don't offer as much money as jobs in Beijing, but they offer things like room, board, vacation, and most importantly help getting a work visa.
And in a smaller city, I'll have less to distract me, so I can start writing again.
I haven't really written anything in 4-5 months so I should get back into the habit.

Banzai
08-13-2007, 07:12 AM
Isolation tends to help writing. Sometimes it creeps me out too much though...

Domoviye
08-13-2007, 07:15 AM
Well in this case, small city means over a million. So not really isolated, just less sights to see.

Gotta go, the computer is telling me my time is almost up.

Talk to ya tomorrow morning.

I was working. Because I have to to earn money to pay bills that SUCK! oh and to waste on stuff.

I've had the odd idea of moving in with my parents just to pay off my college loans when I get a job and they teach me about real estate stuff (besides, my brother is quite useless).... wish they had actually made me a college fund. <3 Planning ahead.

SeaBreeze
08-13-2007, 07:25 AM
Heh. I sort of wished I lived in America so I could have that cheesy American movie/show life of going to college. It seems so cool. Is it cool???!!!!! I wish I could go but I'm not smart enough. I mean I'm too smart for all of you. Or not. :p

adamant
08-13-2007, 07:29 AM
I don't think it'll be all that glamorous. I'm moving to Chicago for my university, and it's going to be a bit weird as a fish out of water (then again, it was kind of like that here). College students are quite poor, and are forced to do menial tasks for money ("jobs" I believe they are called).

Not to long ago, I tried to get a job... but to no avail. It sucks because I'm an honor student and whatnot... but my stupid brother gets one? WtF?

SeaBreeze
08-13-2007, 07:30 AM
HAHHAHAHAA. townies ruuuule! and I pump petrol for a living. Menial I believe you call it! :p it's okay but gets boring. But you find wonderful ways to murder you customers.....

adamant

If I do something involving electronics, I think I'll be alright for a while. I hate my dad's job (cleaning carpets), I've had to work with him, and I can't stand the repetitiveness... though the money isn't bad.

SeaBreeze
08-13-2007, 07:38 AM
Yeah, it's like think of the money! over and over in your head.
