Ok so how many of you are the jealous type?

Cogito
08-14-2007, 01:43 PM
Nope. I'm not that insecure

I can be. Depends on the specific situation.

Cogito
08-14-2007, 01:48 PM
I have always trusted my partner. Although with my ex, that turned out to be misplaced.

Torana
08-14-2007, 01:52 PM
Ii was jealous of my kids recently cause they went to the zoo and I missed out.

I've never been to the zoo!

Cogito
08-14-2007, 01:54 PM
Really? There used to be an open air zoo just a few miles from where my mother lives now. It closed less than a year ago after having been open over half a century.

Banzai
08-14-2007, 01:54 PM
You've never been to the zoo?

...how?

Torana
08-14-2007, 01:56 PM
Cause I have just never been to the zoo is all. I want to but don't know how to get there so yeah lol

Cogito
08-14-2007, 01:58 PM
You should google it and take the kids

Torana
08-14-2007, 02:00 PM
I have bad navigation skills so even with good directions I still get lost and I am bad for road rage lol

Cogito
08-14-2007, 02:03 PM
The road rage could be an issue. Patience, grasshoppa, patience!

Torana
08-14-2007, 02:04 PM
I hate grasshoppers, well petrified of them anyways lol

adamant
08-14-2007, 02:05 PM
I saw a big ass praying mantis when I was walking with my grandma many years ago... in a parking lot outside of a grocery store

Cogito
08-14-2007, 02:06 PM
I've never seen a preying mantis with a big ass.

Torana
08-14-2007, 02:06 PM
oh my gosh ewwwwwwwwwwww

adamant
08-14-2007, 02:08 PM
no, no that would be the elusive big-assed praying mantis

Banzai
08-14-2007, 02:08 PM
I've never seen a praying mantis...

Cogito
08-14-2007, 02:10 PM
They aren't easy to see unless they move. The look kind of like a green twig.

Torana
08-14-2007, 02:10 PM
they are horrible!!!!! You don't want to hey!

Cogito
08-14-2007, 02:11 PM
Actually, I kind of like them. Preying mantises, walking sticks, and dragonflies are all cool insects.

They don't bug me at all.

adamant
08-14-2007, 02:12 PM
Hmm... what else is green and reminds me of a twig?

Banzai
08-14-2007, 02:13 PM
They seem kinda cool....

Banzai
08-14-2007, 02:13 PM
Oh for God's sake adamant... :p

Raven

Sorry to be a pain guys but house rules. We have to keep the threads relatively on topic.

Banzai
08-14-2007, 02:17 PM
Lol. My fault again.... :p

Raven
08-14-2007, 02:20 PM
No worries.

Anyway Jealousy well I have to say I trust my wife 100%. And in doing so she does me and we have been together for 14 years now.

Cogito
08-14-2007, 02:30 PM
It's funny, it is when there is the least trust that what trust there is is most likely to be broken.

Raven
08-14-2007, 02:33 PM
Well in honesty LIly is the best looking woman I have ever laid eyes on just take a look on my website. She is in author section. And since the day I met her and three almost four kids later to now she is still by far the best looking woman I have clapped my eyes on.

Cogito
08-14-2007, 02:36 PM
But that doesn't correlate with jealousy or the lack thereof.

O really think feeling insecure is the principle root of jealousy.

Raven
08-14-2007, 02:42 PM
Well I agree.

Jealousy is certainly a weakness. That maybe we all possess from time to time. I know when a friend of mine won a lump some of money i was Jealous of him. Especially having it rubbed in my face. So i guess we all own some Jealousy

Banzai
08-14-2007, 02:48 PM
I agree Raven. It's all down to the situation that brings it out in the individual.

Torana
08-14-2007, 02:50 PM
I must say that I was pretty jealous when my parents gave my deceased brother's 2 push bikes to my sister and her son and also my brothers motorbike to her son as well.

That I got very jealous about, but I got a car so I realised it was just silly and material possessions are not that important really.

Cogito
08-14-2007, 02:55 PM
Time for a distinction, I think. Envy vs. jealousy. They are similar but not equivalent.

adamant
08-14-2007, 02:58 PM
Jealous
1 a : intolerant of rivalry or unfaithfulness b : disposed to suspect rivalry or unfaithfulness
2 : hostile toward a rival or one believed to enjoy an advantage
3 : vigilant in guarding a possession <new colonies were jealous of their new independence -- Scott Buchanan>

Envy
1 : painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage
2 obsolete : MALICE (http://m-w.com/dictionary/malice)
3 : an object of envious notice or feeling <his new car made him the envy of his friends>

Eh... close enough to me.

Cogito
08-14-2007, 03:02 PM
Envy is desiring what you don't have.

Jealousy is rage associated with the possibility someone else mey be interested in someone you are close to.

These aren't rigorous or complete definitions, but they distinguish between the central meanings of the two words.

Banzai
08-14-2007, 03:03 PM
Hmmm. That's a good point, adamant...

adamant
08-14-2007, 03:04 PM
lexicons erode with time, words are misused... it's hard to say what's the meaning at times... but I suppose we can go with Cog's definition.

Raven
08-14-2007, 05:45 PM
Envy is desiring what you don't have.
Well in that case I Envy ever bugger that wins the Lottory.

adamant
08-14-2007, 07:33 PM
Somewhat... but it'd also be nice to know that you had done something to earn that money, too. However, you could do some good with the money in either case (as well as some unspeakable evils -- looks at Raven with his Avril Lavigne cd).

Cogito
08-14-2007, 08:14 PM
I could get over the disappointment of not having earned a couple million dollars of lottery winnings.

Banzai

I could get over the disappointment of not having earned a couple million dollars of lottery winnings.

By thinking of the millions you haven't wasted playing the lottery, perhaps?

Why do you seek to corrupt even more innocent minds with insanity, and unusual urges to pun?

Edit: just so I stay on topic. I've never really gotten jealous. Green with envy, even a few times where envy has made me want to scream, but never jealous. Probably because I've never had anyone worth getting jealous over.

Torana
08-15-2007, 04:12 AM
Cause it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun lol

We got to you eventually so I am sure we can send anyone insane mwahahahahaha

Banzai

I don't do puns, that's Cogito. I just do general insanity.

Torana

Please.
I was insane long before I joined this board. At University most of the people who knew me had this expression they used whenever anyone tried something stupid or insane. They said it was a "Dan Plan".
Whenever I said I had a plan they usually ran away in fear, or at least stepped aside to watch the chaos.

Torana
08-15-2007, 04:18 AM
Oh that sounds like soooooooo much fun Dom I would so have loved to of been there then aye!

I am like the most insane of all my friends and they lose it laughing at me all the time or walk away in embarressment lol

I think, as possibly the craziest person in the world, I am also the craziest of my friends. I did drink all of the fake blood (in my defence though, it tasted nice).

Well I'm not jealous in the 'zomg my bf is friends with that chick and I know she's cooler than me, omg my bf is gonna leave me- must tell him to not speak to her ever again in all etnerity even the afterlife' way.

Actually I don't really get jealous at all, more envious, but nothing too serious; usually I become envious over qualities people may have that I can't recognise in myself- ie: wow that comedian is super funny, wish I could make a crowd rofl like that; damn it i'm envious of that ability.

JetBlack
08-15-2007, 06:10 AM
I am jealous of anyone who can, knows someone that can or even has seen someone on the street that may or may not know someone that may or may not know someone that may or may not know someone that has seen someone that may or may not know somebody that knows how to make real nougat.

I am also EXTREMELY jealous of torana's poetry skills?

Nadala
08-15-2007, 06:14 AM
I'm not as jealous as I thought I would be but I find those with more knowledge then I make me jealous.

Raven
08-15-2007, 06:17 AM
jealousy is such a strong word.

Yet we all contain fragments of jealousy and Envy in our lives.

Nadala
08-15-2007, 06:24 AM
You're right Hull I think jealousy and it makes me refuse to admit what I'm jealous of >< I like envy as a word better

Raven
08-15-2007, 06:38 AM
As do I. lol

But then we wouldn't be Human without these emotions.

Nadala
08-15-2007, 06:42 AM
That's also true, but emotions at times are the cause of trouble >< my emotions need a leash :(

Raven
08-15-2007, 06:49 AM
Again we all suffer this course. Sometimes I hate my emotions but then without them what are we robots.

Nadala
08-15-2007, 07:28 AM
yes that's also true and what would life be if we lived it with no feeling

Cogito
08-15-2007, 07:30 AM
Without emotion we are robots, true. It's when emotions run amok like a wild stallion and leave us clinging on for dear life that they are destructive.

Charisma
08-15-2007, 09:10 AM
Hmm...not permanently jealous, but once in a blue moon. I'm a kid - gimme a break :)
As far as emotions are concerned, that's true. But some emotions are better tamed and utilized in another form or in another situation. Shouting at your mother when angry is not justified. Instead, use that anger to drive yourself against injustice.

Raven
08-15-2007, 09:10 AM
Hey we all get jealous

SeaBreeze
08-15-2007, 09:12 AM
I get jealous. I hate showing it. My emotions are pretty much all over the place.

Raven
08-15-2007, 09:15 AM
Yes that I agree concealing ones Jealousy can be at times somewhat difficult.

Charisma
08-15-2007, 09:15 AM
Yes, that's true. But I get spanked for not being perfect. Figures.

SeaBreeze
08-15-2007, 09:16 AM
yeah, it makes me even more grumpy! But I get jealous of the computer, my boyfriend spends waaaaaaaaay too much time on there!

Charisma
08-15-2007, 09:19 AM
Hmm...don't even mention men.

But hey, we need to accept our weaknesses and work on them. Suppressing ourselves with infinite guilt is silly.

Raven
08-15-2007, 09:20 AM
Whats wrong with men. Its women that are the pains in bums

SeaBreeze
