View Full Version : The Dream Thread

A lot of authors have had stories come from dreams, and a lot of people keep Dream Journals. So I was wondering, what's come to you in a dream?

I woke up just a few moments ago, and this was my Dream (It took me about 5-10 minutes to find the right notebook, but this is pretty accurate. Though I have taken out the things that are just in my dreams and are just confusing, such as my bedroom being big enough to hold a bunch of people, or even a Fantasy story wedding taking place in my house):

(The following characters were given at random. I can't remember whether it was something one of them said, or something I saw, but I got the feeling the characters were angels, and so I gave them the first angel names I could think of)
People are in a large room, dicking about and not doing much. They're all waiting for something. A man bursts through the door, "Arariel! you and Sariel are going to have to get married now, Daniel's coming!" This is a dress fitting or a rehearsal and not the real wedding. The real wedding wouldn't be for a few days. The women all run out to help the bride and speed things along, and all the men get swords ready. Daniel was a former alley who now wants these guys dead. I can't remember why, there may not even have been a reason. The Arariel, meanwhile, frantically searches for something in the closets and other places. After a few minutes some of the women return. The conversation turns to how Daniel knows where they are, and the messenger says it's because of one of the girl's diary (A radio looking thing). She wonders how he's been using it because she's had it the whole time. This is answered with a few "i dunno"s. It is also announced that Daniel's great conversational skillz and ability to convince people of things is because he has powers of persuasion (like Darren Brown). Arariel points out he was only tricked once into buying medicine he didn't need from Daniel (this was from an earlier dream that had nothing to do with this one, and is an example of my subconscious scrambling dreams like eggs) he then laments his lack of a chainmail hauberk, and says he can't get married in the crap he's wearing. one of his friends gives him a hauberk, but it's a little tarnished and doesn't fit well. He then gets a sword together and finds a chest piece, making himself presentable next to the dress his bride will be wearing. He then goes to the bathroom (I seem to do this in all my dreams...) and on the way back makes a detour and eavesdrops on his wife-to be. She's ready and the ceremony will be starting soon. He excitedly hurries back and tells everyone, then goes outside to wait for Sariel. (most of this last part was assumed, made up, or sketchily recalled, as I had to wake up and really go to the bathroom. I was kind of disappointed, because I wanted to see the wedding and the fight.)
I assume this is what happens:
Sariel comes in in all her beauty, Arariel escorts her to the front, some words are said, Daniel busts into the place, a fight breaks out, and in the middle of the battle the two say their "I do"s. Pretty awesome stuff that I wish I could have seen (or dreamed in this case).

Well, what are some of your dreams guys?

I never remember my dreams and if I do I've never written them down. When I tell people bits of dreams I remember I always make up most of it. xD

I keep a dream journal, but I'm pretty bad about keeping up with it. I'm usually too lazy to write anything right when I wake up, and I've usually forgotten whatever I dreamed about by the time I feel like recording it.

I dream all the time but my dreams are very strange and I keep journals of them all the time if I can remember parts of them that is.

They have helped me out with my writing of fiction over time, but I don't tend to use my dreams to help me with my writing all that much as they don't tend to be of the genre in which I write!

My dreams are usually lucid, which is kinda cool. I can pretty much control what happens.

I don't remember my dreams very often.. and the one's I vividly remember, involve me somehow dying.. which is weird.
I had a lucid dream once (the only one I've had) that involved dinosaurs and weird animals on this huge "farm" thing that tried to kill me.. and someway or another I noticed an Apple Corp. sign.. My brain is disturbed.

I need to buy a dream journal..

Okay okay, so. I had this dream last night where my boyfriend-thing and I were at my old school. And he was breaking up with me, because he wanted to hang out with all the people there that I'd really hated. And then he turned into Salma Hayek, and broke my heart even more.

I just had a dream that I remembered...

For some reason or another, I was at my middle school and there was a new campus assistant (basically security that broke up fights, etc). This guy was the type to play around, yet never was serious (which annoys me), and kept running into me with his golf cart. I got tired of it and used the momentum of the vehicle to tilt it over onto its side (after tracing it back, it was because I watched a judo show where they did a hip-throw).

As I was leaving school, someone I knew told me they were looking for me and that I shouldn't cross the open field to the buses (though I was already starting on that route). For some reason, I dropped to the ground as a staff member approached me. I was discovered. Once again, I used her momentum to throw her, and ran around to a fence right by me to try to get better coverage.

Then I woke up.

I've had some pretty terrible dreams. I can't share them, if I did, YOU wouldn't sleep again either!

Haha, but when I have some important-seeming dreams, I write them down. There is one in particular that really freaked me out, because it involved a plane crash. Later on, I came across a story about a 1950's plane crash, and EVERY detail matched. It was really freaky.

i had a dream about a plane carsh a few weeks ago. there was, my parents and my sister walking the dog along this vliff. i cam to a house and Noel Edmonds was talking to me from out of the window. he was being proper nice to me, having like a mini game of Deal or No Deal, and then i said i had to go and see my dad. i ran along the cliff to go and see him, and on the other side of the valley thing was my mam, my sister and the dog.

then, i pointed into the ait as there was an areoplane fyling really low. all a sudden it dipped and spiralled into the group, hitting where my mam and sister had been. my and my dad were flung into the air and the dog flew into my arms but my mam and sister were no-where to be seen. that was a really horrible dream. :'(

as for last nights, i cannot remember it. i hate that 'cos i think it might have been a good dream :p
