Where do I begin? Along time ago there was no one in my life that made me feel as though I was the one for them. How could a stranger find me and learn who I was, only to tell me that I was the one for them? It happened truly by accident. You see, I was waiting for my date to arrive and another co-worker showed up instead. He sat down and he ordered somethiing to drink. We started talking while sharing a bowl of peel & eat shrimp. He told me that Danny wasn't coming and the way he said it was ina way that was caring enough but I did't get upset. As a matter of fact, he felt bad for me that someone would treat me like this. And this person didn't even know me. The spontaneous decision to go see a movie took over so off we went.
Not even really knowing this person, we went to the show, just to have the company of another. Who knew that with a kiss after the movie, this would lead me to the first love of my life? And even more surprising, the first love of his! It was by chance and the act of a friend that led Jim to me. That summer was a blur in that we were never looking for love but that love had found us.
I look back on the course of events and find myself remembering the most minute details of years ago. You won't believe this but Jim found me again, 25 years later. We have talked almost daily about the events in our lives, good and bad. The things that we could have done, should have done, and the speculation of what could have been.
Somehow, it turned into another summer of love for both of us again. This time it has been a deeper love for we still haven't seen each other. This time we got into each other's hearts. We were there for each other in a time in our lives that we so desparately needed to hear from someone else that we mattered to them. Maybe fate lended a hand in the timing of things.
Of course, no one knows the true course of what could have been, but the one key element of this is that hesitation of what may be in or hearts can lead to regret. I truly believe that it can cover you like a black cloud never letting the sun shine on you once you keep it over you. Don't let this happen in your life. I have made my effort not to let it happen again in mine!
If you ever look back on the people who have mattered in your life and you haven't talked to them in a long time, call them. I've learned to live life with no regrets. It doesn't mean to call every person that you ever knew, only the ones that truly mattered in your life. Let them know how what they meant to you, with no strings attatched. We can all feel alone in our lives and lost but somehow this can bring you back with a fulfillment you will be surprised to experience. I know it did for me.
I have contacted several people form my past and only wanted to say, "Thank You for making difference in my life. You were and are a great person and I never got to really say that to you." We all need to hear that in our lives, especially when we least expect it.
Do it once and the feeling you will get inside of you will carry you through the day and longer. It will come back to you, I promise.
