Tell you what! that red thumbs down is an attention grabber! Charisma 10-23-2007, 07:45 AM Welcome to the site. Now Samuel, this isn't that bad an introduction. But it surely creates a psychological impression that '...I got to check it out...' so yeah, this is the first step to writing: capturing attention. Okay, I'll stop being a philosopher now :p So yes, welcome, and enjoy your stay here. Torana 10-23-2007, 07:47 AM I have already welcomed ya in the chatbox but hey it is always nice to make sure new members are feeling welcomed around here lol I hope that you have a most wonderful time here with all of us and I look forward to getting to know you better as time goes by. I might use that on a regular basis. I will be known as: Samuel Birch, he of the red thumb. Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 07:52 AM hahaa,, seems like a fun name to be known by. :D Torana 10-23-2007, 07:54 AM lol well it will make it easier to find your threads lol Cogito 10-23-2007, 08:02 AM Hello Samuel, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room on this site, therefore, is a true workshop, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? (http://www.writingforums.org/showpost.php?p=65432&postcount=1) for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun! Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:07 AM very probably heartfelt knowing Cog, he always takes time to make sure everyone feels welcome. :) Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:12 AM well feel free to. and how come you normally get such a bad reaction from people?? Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:20 AM are they dogs?? lol. and if that is so then people can be quite funny with animals, especially if they are growling at them and stuff. Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:28 AM oow ,, they are gawjuss. i just looked them up on tiniternet. how come you chose to have them, an unusual choice. Samuel Birch 10-23-2007, 08:32 AM An unusual choice for you, perhaps, but for me it was simply destiny. Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:35 AM fair enough. cute at any rate. :) newguy 10-23-2007, 08:35 AM at wuz ei rathur shert and descreet intro wunn't it??? Welcume 'Simon berch'! have yerseelf a grit stey here! what accent is that meant ot b 'cos when i read it out loud i recognise it. Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:44 AM hahaa, well it is an amazing tuba. i didn't know that was a picture of you anyways, it looked very profesioanlly done, although i did ocnciser asking. i have a mate who plays the tuba i think, or something that looks like that. i am more of a piano person personally. Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:47 AM a strange question to ask isn't it?? Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 08:49 AM what, some other dude with your tuba, or were you being funny when you said it was your tuba?? Cogito 10-23-2007, 10:19 AM Samuel, My welcome message uses a template, but is nonetheless heartfelt. I found myself saying much the same thing to welcome new joiners, so I put together my own greeting that covers the basics. Still, I try to add a personal touch, depending on how much I learn about the joiner from the introductory posting. If it's any comfort, it's a template that is wholly of my own devise. I have never played the tuba, but I have a tenor saxophone that I am way out of practice with. Anyway, welcome to the site! Heather Louise 10-23-2007, 12:13 PM instruments are cool,, me and my mam can sorta play the piano,, but not very well. i could never play left land. :( coll that ya'll can play the tuba and sax, they sound cool. Kit 10-23-2007, 03:49 PM Welcome to the site! Hope you're settling in alright |
