I'm never good at these new member speeches. ^^;

I found the site through google, and thought I would take a look and see what the community is like. I'm a moderator at The Young Writer's Society so I tend to be interested in other forums.

I've been writing for about six years now, if not more, and I can say I've improved a whole lot. I dabble in everything it seems. Poetry, fiction, drama. I would say my poetry is the worst, and though I can critique it like you wouldn't believe, I can't produce it for the life of me. Well, it isn't bad poetry, but you know what I mean. ^_~ Fiction is where I mainly spend my time, I've written many short stories and am currently writing my second novel. (NaNoWriMo anyone?) As to drama, I've only written one play so far. I submitted it to my school's theater troupe, though, and this month we will be work shopping it and auditioning people for it. It will be put on around the end of this month or the beginning of December, which is rather exciting.

When it comes to reading I love the classics, but I also read some modern stuff. I love Dostoevsky, Waugh, Wilde, Nabokov... many others though, too!

I hope to improve my writing and learn new tricks from all the brilliant writers that inhabit this site, and I also hope to make a few friends!

Thanks for taking the time to read this outrageously long intro post. :D

Hello Suzanne, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room on this site, therefore, is a true workshop, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? (http://www.writingforums.org/showpost.php?p=65432&postcount=1) for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

heh, Bonjour Maia ^_^ Non, je ne suis pas française, mais j'apprends le français. I'm in my third year now, and so by the end I should know all the tenses. Fourth year is just a lot of reading and vocabulary.

I like the site a lot, but I'm still working my way around and learning how things are here. I'll probably be more of a critiquer and poster come December.

Dear Writer,

Welcome to one of the fastest growing writers forums on the web. I’m sure if you hang around long enough you’ll begin to make new friends and enjoy becoming a participating member of the writersforum.org. I am sure that you as a new member will bring something unique and valuable to the forum, as well as find it an interesting and wonderful place to explore and learn more about the wonderful world of writing.

I have been away for awhile myself, and unfortunately have not been able to keep up with greeting the large influx of new members personally. Please forgive; except my sincerest and belated welcome to the forum.

Cordially yours,

Trailer Trash

PS: Sorry about the canned welcome, but there are just so many new members that it would be an awesome task to send persona greetings to everyone.
