18. Its a good age. I will say I did not feel to different either. I think the only age where I actually felt different was 13. Ah but 18 was a good age. Not to old not to young. Plus you get to vote, buy a gun, go to R movies (Though I found a way in under 18), and most importantly, the parental units lose their authoritiah.

I wish people in their late teens and early twenties would stop saying they are old, but anyway Happy Birthday! I'm not sure if turning 18 stops parental units bugging you, mine still do when I live with them over the summer, and I'm 21 :P

I just realized my first post was somewhat of a contradiction, as I felt old, yet didn't feel any different. Hah.

But hey, I can vote this year. : p

Make sure you register in time for your state primaries. I would advise agaisnt registering as independent too because independents can only vote in the big elections but never the primaries (Not voting in primaries is how we end up with horrible choices in the big run).

Then you gotta register agian for the big thing, presidential Election 08. Oh and don't forget to sign up for the draft. Its illegal not to and the cops will arrest you.

Um ok. I'm 3 times your age, plus several months. So no sympathy here! :)

Except of course,

Happy Birthday!

At 18 you start becoming an adult.

Welcome to the Layer Cake. :p

But yeah, 18!

2008, probably March. The Liberals can't keep up the not voting down the government even though they despise them for much longer.

Anyways as a 26 year old, nearly 27 I can safely say you should not feel old. Otherwise I'm ancient and I don't want to be ancient yet. I don't even want to be old. So you can't feel old.
Now shape up and enjoy having all the rights and responsibilities of being an adult. :p

happy birthday!

here's a thought for you... when i was turning 30, had 5 little stairsteps and no visible means of support, i felt like i should be feeling awful about getting to that dreaded by most age... then i looked in the mirror that day, realized i didn't look 30, didn't much act 30, and didn't feel 30, so i went ahead and had a birthday!... and i've been happily having them ever since... my next will be 70 and that all still applies...

so, enjoy the great gift of being 18 and never discount your age... every year lived is a year of knowledge and experience gained that will stand you in good stead when you get up to where i am...

love and extra birthday hugs, maia

Happy Birthday.
Dom if you say you are ancient what does that make me.
No. turning 18 does not stop parental units from bugging you.
Just ask Dom.
He is in China and I am in Canada and I still tell him to go to bed, be good, clean up his place.
I am 52 and my mother still bugs me about things.

Hehe. 18 always seemed a pointless milestone to me. You can be tried as an adult, and you're now part of the voting public, and therefore inherit responsibility for the crappy state of whichever country you're in :p And the being able to buy alcohol has never really appealed to me that much, since I don't drink much.

But happy birthday, and I hope you enjoy your new age :)

I am 52 and my mother still bugs me about things.Chuckle, my mother, who is 8 years older than mammamaia, still bugs me about things too. But being who I am, I bug her right back!

Surprised? ;)

Happy belated birthday! I think 18 is quite a good age. It means I can move out legally without any problems and can attend university and get some qualifications. I can also drink and stuff and vote... though the last two may not be so fantastic.
