What are you getting people?
I realise it's only 2nd December, but I need to think of ideas for a certain someone... And I was wondering if anyone else would care to contribute what gift ideas they have for people, and any suggestions they might have to offer.

I'm writing stories for my niece and nephews. My parents and everyone else are getting letters.
The price of sending presents is too high, so I'll save them all for when I see them in person and give them all their birthday and Christmas presents at once.

For my girlfriend, I might have done something silly. She was saying how the second half of this year has kind of been a downer compared to the first half. She hasn't done everything she wanted to do.
So I told her to come tell me one thing she would really like to do by the end of December and I'd make that my present to her.
I really hope its nothing too expensive, and that it includes me.

The large gift for one son and his family is a satellite TV dish.
7 year old is getting a gift certificate for Chapters.
2 year old is getting a doll that looks a lot like herself.
6 month old is getting a teddy bear.
Stories by grandma for all three. age appropriate.

2nd son can't tell. but mostly money.

Husband no clue.

as for suggestions. questions here.
what age.
what interests.

Hehe, 17 and all sorts: writing, films, games, etc.

I'm not sure whether to get her something romantic, or something she'll use and enjoy...

I'm also going to get my girlfriend something small but nice, like earrings or a bracelet. She said she was greedy and wanted some material goods as well.
And Lessa I promise if you post what your youngest son is getting I won't look.
See my eyes are closed.:p

Edit: Banzai why don't you just ask her for some ideas about what she would like. Get 3 or 4 ideas from her and pick the one you like best.

Banzai I would not go romantic. But something she would use a lot and enjoy would be my suggestion.
Dom. if you open that package before Christmas your first meal home will be liver and onions and mushrooms.

I won't open it I promised not to. But if the paper happens to be torn I'll have to rewrap it to make sure its nice for Christmas Day. You wouldn't want me to have a poorly wrapped gift on Christmas morning would you?

LMAO!

HHAHAHAA,. I can't tell any of you yet what I am getting my Boyfriend cause he is awake and can walk in quickly enough and see!

But I know he is getting me a bookcase and I think my mum is getting me a digital camera. I mean, from what I noticed on the reciepts that is! :D

That's half the problem. Neither of us can come up with any ideas :p And apparently a Nintendo Wii, new laptop and a car are all too expensive...

Banzai I would not go romantic. But something she would use a lot and enjoy would be my suggestion.

Yeah, I was thinking that, since I'm already planning to do lots of romantic stuff when I go and see her.

I'm going to make some cards for my sisters. My dad is getting an iPod and what not for chrissy from all the fam so that's him covered. But he's having surgery soon so I'm going to probably draw something for him. Maybe the cattle station he grew up on. Or cowboys and indians. I dont know what Ill get for my mum though.

I have no idea what I'm getting my family, at the moment, I'm in the process of finding out. They're a mysterious lot my family, it's only at times like these where I must venture unto the misty, unknown of their interests, lol.

Banzai, how can we suggest stuff on here when she'll see? :)

Torana

heh I got both my sisters magnetic photo frame sets. They have everything so I thought photo frames would be good so they can show off family pics to whoever visits them I guess.

My parents are getting clothing vouchers as they have heaps of stuff and no where to put it at all lol

My kids are getting TOO MUCH! A kitchen setting, a nursery setting, a dora the explorer doll, a travel case, wallet, sleeping bag, clothing galore all for amity :D mason is getting a lightning mcqueen remote control, blow up pirate ship pool and ball pit, clothing galore, 2 other remote controls, and a muck dump truck (bod the builder) and I honestly forget what else I have got them. (I Spoil them rotten :p)

As for me I only ever want one thing for chrissy...I get it every year now and have for the last 9 years. That is to see the smile on kids faces as they get their presents and to make a mess lol

Gift vouchers work well Banzai and so do photos and jewellery and a phone call or clothin, shoes, make up. I get the same thing almost every year. Note books and lots of pens lol

Torana I agree, the best gift is seeing the smiles of the children.
I always get a lounging robe. I pick it out myself and put it on Christmas morning as I get out of bed. I just love the new feel of it.

Torana
12-02-2007, 09:44 AM
Maybe I should ask Santa for one of those. :p

And yeah it really melts my heart seeing their faces light up. I can't wait now :D

Lead? I always thought it was coal...

adamant
12-02-2007, 04:43 PM
It is... but with all the callbacks for lead in toys this year, I figured lead would be more likely. Those damn elves have been sipping just a little too much eggnog.

12-02-2007, 04:48 PM

Banzai why don't you just ask her for some ideas about what she would like. Get 3 or 4 ideas from her and pick the one you like best.

Because ideally I don't want anything from him as I don't like the idea of people spending money on me when there are better things for it to be spent on.

Banzai I would not go romantic. But something she would use a lot and enjoy would be my suggestion.

If you insist on getting me something, I agree with lessa.

Banzai, how can we suggest stuff on here when she'll see? :)

Exactly! I know I shouldn't look at this thread... but as a moderator... its my job to check it for.... erm.... something!!

Gift vouchers work well Banzai and so do photos and jewellery and a phone call or clothin, shoes, make up. I get the same thing almost every year. Note books and lots of pens lol

Don't buy me gift vouchers... I end up giving them other people lol...
Photos are a nice idea, but its been done...
Clothing... beware getting the wrong size.
Shoes... I'm picky... but I do want some new boots (black) without a heel. I just haven't found any I like yet...
Make-up... I only wear eyeliner/mascara and i'm allergic to all but about 3 brands.

I could get her that, but it might be a bit messy...

*Hides* I think i'm a little young for children.... we have a few more months yet :D

Mass Effect for th 360 and money (I hope I need money).

Nah I dont have a 360 *Cries* (And no Banzai you may not buy me the console)

Darling.... Am I helping? Lmao.

Kit

Here's what i've bought so far:

Mum: Double cross (James Patterson) and Book of the Dead (Patricia Cornwall)
Sarah (Friend): A matching set (keyring, mug and compact mirror) with kittens on
Sister: A turtle ornament thing (she collects them) and silent hill DVD
Jay (ex): DVD

Here's what i'm thinking of getting other people:
Dad: Not sure yet, but if doodah beat ... is it Luton... then possibly Liverpool tickets?
Step-dad: Either a new shirt and tie, CD or something... lol.
Emma (Friend): Possibly die hard 4.0

Banzai... I have 3 little presents so far :D And i'm not stupid enough to post them.

Torana
12-04-2007, 07:33 AM
You are as difficult as I am to buy for lol :D

No one ever knows what to get me cause I don't really need or want anything. Though the good old pen and paper thing always works for me lol

Just pack yourself up in a box and send it to her Banzai. That will work...unless you are clostraphobic or you forget to put holes in the box for you to breathe through or it gets delivered to the wrong address. But hey at least the thought will be there :p

SeaBreeze
12-04-2007, 07:46 AM
Yeah, don't forget the holes Banzai...

Seeing as though my BF is currently asleep on the lounge, I will proceed to tell you what he is getting. He's getting from me a vinyl office chair and mum is getting him an eletric whipper snipper... I think. So he's going to wet his pants and sqeal like a girl come christmas mornign because he's wanted both for ages I think.

I need a new phone though. Been eyeing one off in the post office. Vodaphone and it's roughly $120.00 so I want one anyways. ALong with a digital Camera, the new Rogue Traders CD along with John Butler Trio, Good Charlotte, the latest Sims 2 stuff pack, New clothes.... I pretty much have most of my wishlist that included a man, a car, my liscence, moving out of parents house... Now all I want is a horse!
