I watched a program last night on crimes from hoodies and Chavs in Great Britain.

I was appalled as the program showed a young father attacked with his toddler at night in a car park.

The assault was caught on CCTV.

The lad was walking holding his 18 month son and passed three hoodies/chavs messing about on a wall. Suddenly and without provocation these three lads assaulted the young father. He slipped dropping his 18 month son. As he went to pick his now crying son up. The youths stabbed him in the back and stomach repetitively, then ran away. The footage showed him crawl across the floor to his son and put his arm around the toddler. He was found cuddling his son covered in a lot of his own blood and dead.

The three chavs were caught thanks to the footage and sentenced. They were aged 15 and 16 years old. And they simply replied by saying he walked on their turf.

The young father gave his last moments to cuddle up to his 18 month old son and then died.

The boy now three life’s with his grand parents because his mother had died giving birth to him. This crime happened in Birmingham.

I was so appalled at that one story it’s played on my mind all day. It shows how bad our society actually is.

Words alone cannot express that incident.

Raven, I can understand this playing on your mind. It probably will just like a needle stuck on a record.
But stop and remember there are good people in this world, who would have stopped and helped the young man if they had been around. You probably would have led the charge.
The news keeps saying that young men do not care about the children they bring into this world well this young man proved them wrong. He obviously did care.
All we can do is try to live properly and avoid the bad things.

Bring back castration, the death penalty and actual bloody life sentences. Its an effective response.

Oh i agree and Im not blind I know there are good people about. Its just after watchuing that like you say its like a stuck needle on a record I found the whole thing well heart wrenching.

Many will argue that the death penalty is too barbaric, and should be abolished.

I would point out an incident like this as why the death penalty has overcivilized, to the point that it isn't even an effective deterrent anymore. We are so concerned that any such penalty be humane, that we forget there are true monsters out there. And they only comprehend fear.

I will say, however, that where the death penalty does exist, it is too often resorted to for crimes which are insufficiently heinous, and the standards for certainty insufficiently stringent, so many on death row should be serving life sentences instead.

If more people allowed their feelings to show maybe stuff like this wouldn't be so common everyday events.
People are locking their feelings up so tight that things burst.
Or they no longer feel shame remorse affection. The only thing that makes them feel alive is adrenalin and they get that by harming others.
People who care are too afraid to do more than shut the curtains.
These are just my thoughts. I wish my answers would be so clear.

Cogito I agree. The death penalty should only be used in cases where there is a clear case of guilt. Reliable eye witnesses, DNA, motive, fingerprints, etc, and hopefully caught red handed, clear cases of who committed the crime.
And the death penalty should be used mostly in the cases of psychopaths. People who commit thrill kills, serial killers, etc.
The way I see it is this. Even if the death penalty won't prevent people from committing the crime in the first place, they will never reoffend.

That's true, and it's obviously for the best. The way I see it, extreme sickos deserve the death penalty. I'm surprised Charles Manson is alive right now, although he did escape the death penalty.

I also see no purpose in the world for youths like those mentioned in the story. Why do people think like this? Can't everyone be civil? It's horrible, and it's why I stray away from the poorer suburbs in my city, which is where most of the worse crimes take place (although my city doesn't receive a lot of serious crime on a frequent basis).

Sadly though been as young as they were they will proberly see freedom again. Thats the saddest of all.

It is shocking what some people do in the world, it really is. However, it is also a shame that now those stupid lads have gotten a bad name for all chavs as it all adds up. Stupid people.

This is something I have also been known to advocate. Why the hell are we getting sterile needles to have the criminal lulled to death? Get a Glock and one round. Pull the trigger. If you want to be a little more sinister about it, tell them the date of their execution - then surprise them. Hey, the person they attacked didn't know, why should they have that luxury? The money saved by these new "lethal injections" can be donated.

In addition, I believe there needs to be a restructuring of the jail system in general. Educate to stop the high rates of recidivism.

That's so disgusting, the corruption of the world never fails to amaze me.

We recently had an off-duty cop beat up by 20 teenagers over here. Absolutely sick.
