View Full Version : What's for dinner tonight? Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 12:25 PM I'm making a beef stew right now. What are you having? Raven 12-06-2007, 12:30 PM Is it me or are these threads getting dafter. Mash Beef and kindney Pie Carrots Brocalli sausages Bisto Beef and Onion Gravy Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 12:32 PM Sounds good. Banzai 12-06-2007, 12:46 PM Spring roll and chips :) Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 12:49 PM Spring roll and chips :) Wow! Big eater. lordofhats 12-06-2007, 12:50 PM I got a sprite and bag of Fritos  Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 12:53 PM How big are you people? What happened to a real dinner? lordofhats 12-06-2007, 12:54 PM I moved to college and they don't feed me... Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 12:57 PM That explains it. Eating is overrated anyways. lordofhats 12-06-2007, 12:58 PM Yeah. Thank god for the Freshmen 15. Cogito 12-06-2007, 01:12 PM I'll probably make a pizza tonight. It's been a while... Banzai 12-06-2007, 01:15 PM How big are you people? What happened to a real dinner? To be fair, it was a massive spring roll from the chippy. Cogito 12-06-2007, 01:47 PM Ok - what's a chippy? The only definition I know is a bar prostitute, and I doubt that was what you meant. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 01:49 PM [QUOTE=Cogito;114778]Ok - what's a chippy? Ditto. Banzai 12-06-2007, 01:54 PM Chip shop... Silly yanks Cogito 12-06-2007, 01:57 PM A shop that specializes in chips (by which I assume you mean deep fried thick potato pieces)? I don't think we have any counterpart to that on this side of the Pond. Raven 12-06-2007, 01:59 PM I so want a Donor Kebab lots of yogurt and extra chilli with a helping of salad. lordofhats 12-06-2007, 01:59 PM You guys are making me hungry... *Runs out door to eat* Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:04 PM I still don't have a clue as to what a "chippy" is. Raven 12-06-2007, 02:06 PM Donor Mmmmmmmm Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:07 PM What's a donor? In the States a donor is someone that gives something to someone else. Heather Louise 12-06-2007, 02:09 PM I had fish chips and peas, although done in the oven so healthier than shop bought. Raven 12-06-2007, 02:11 PM What's a donor? In the States a donor is someone that gives something to someone else. Donor Kebab. Its turkish Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:12 PM I had fish chips and peas, although done in the oven so healthier than shop bought. Are fish chips the same as fish sticks? I must say I am intrigued by differnt foods, and names of foods, from other countries. Heather Louise 12-06-2007, 02:13 PM Sorry, I meant fish and chips. lol. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:13 PM Donor Kebab. Its turkish Turkish. Ok one step closer, but what is it? Heather Louise 12-06-2007, 02:14 PM A doner kebab is strips of processed meat from all the remains if animals that has been mixed together. it is normally sevred on a pitta with salad and garlic sauce and they are disgusting. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:17 PM Oh! Thank you! I thought it was some sort of funky donut. A donut is like a small round cake, usually had for breakfast.. Heather Louise 12-06-2007, 02:19 PM donut is like a small round cake, usually had for breakfast.. not sure about having them for breakfast but i love a big jam donut. try and eat one of them without licking your lips :p Cogito 12-06-2007, 02:19 PM Ahh, ok. From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kebab):Döner kebab, literally "rotating meat" in Turkish, is sliced lamb or chicken loaf which is slowly roasted on a vertical rotating spit. It is similar to gyros, shawarma, and Taco al pastor. Döner kebab is most popularly served in pita bread, as it is best known, with salad, but is also served in a dish with a salad and bread or French fries on the side, or used for Turkish pizzas called pide or "kebabpizza".It sounds exactly like Greek gyros (pronounced GHEE-ros) in the States. I think gyros is also where the term "hero sandwich" originates from. Cogito 12-06-2007, 02:23 PM Donuts are fried dough, in the same shape as a bagel. Ship's captains used to put them on the spokes of the wheel so they could eat them while piloting the ship, which is the reason for the center hole. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:23 PM not sure about having them for breakfast but i love a big jam donut. try and eat one of them without licking your lips :p We have thousands of donut shops here in the U.S. they serve coffee and donuts. Here donuts are eaten for breakfast. We call the jam donut, a jelly donut. They cover it with powder, making it damn near impossible not to wear it. lordofhats 12-06-2007, 02:24 PM I ran off and got a Double Cheese Burger with Bacon Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:25 PM Ahh, ok. From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kebab):It sounds exactly like Greek gyros (pronounced GHEE-ros) in the States. I think gyros is also where the term "hero sandwich" originates from. Heard of gyros before, but not donur. Thanks Cogito. Cogito 12-06-2007, 02:26 PM We have thousands of donut shops here in the U.S. they serve coffee and donuts. Here donuts are eaten for breakfast. We call the jam donut, a jelly donut. They cover it with powder, making it damn near impossible not to wear it. Yeah, the powdered sugar tells you who filched one. :) Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:26 PM I ran off and got a Double Cheese Burger with Bacon Now I want a cheeseburger, hold the bacon. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:27 PM Cogito, I take it you go to Dunkies every morning? Cogito 12-06-2007, 02:35 PM Actually, no. I don't really care much for donuts. They are traditional cop food though :) In one adjoining town, there's a Dunkin Donuts (a franchise brand) on one of the main streets, about 4 blocks down from the fire station. The fire station doesn't have its own turning lane, neither does the MacDonald's in between, but the Dunkin Donuts does! And there is nearly always a police car in the parking lot or the drive through. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 02:39 PM Do you live in Eastern, Central, or Western Ma.? Raven 12-06-2007, 02:42 PM Yanks and their Donuts. I hear you guys Have pink Donuts Cogito 12-06-2007, 02:46 PM Central Massachusetts. Yeah, there are pink donuts. Strawberry frosted, or cherry donuts. Come with a free dose of insulin ;) Blecch. Raven 12-06-2007, 02:47 PM Whats a Blecch Donut Cogito 12-06-2007, 02:50 PM Just about any donut, but particularly the pink ones :) I really, really am not a donut fancier! Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 03:00 PM Neither am I. My wife has to stop every morning on her way to work, and get an ice coffee. I live in Southeastern Ma. Banzai 12-06-2007, 03:06 PM The only real breakfast is the full English. Cogito 12-06-2007, 03:06 PM Ahh, down toward the Cape. Man, can you believe that guy who rolled the fuel tanker is getting off with just a speeding ticket? I'd have thought Reckless Endangerment at least, speeding with 9000 gallons of gasoline in the back! Cogito 12-06-2007, 03:10 PM I usually settle for a mug of coffee while on the drive to work, and then a carton of juice when I get there. But my idea of a breakfast is Eggs Benedict with a side of Potatoes O'Brien. I don't often have a chance to indulge in it though. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 03:10 PM They should throw the book at him. He is so lucky no one was injured or killed. Could you imagine seeing all that gas pouring out, coming towards your house, and then catching on fire? Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 03:13 PM I'm not a big breakfast fan, probably because I'm allergic to eggs. I live right between the Cape and Boston. Did you get a lot of snow the other day? I got about an inch, or just less than. lordofhats 12-06-2007, 03:16 PM Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Primarily because I love eggs and bacon. Cogito 12-06-2007, 03:17 PM I had a couple inches of snow, which in my parking lot is now a quarter inch of ice. As for that driver, the civil cases will nail him. Two 6-family units burned to the ground, a third one damaged, and about 30 cars damaged or destroyed. I feel awful for those people, having to run for their lives in pajamas and robes from a wall of flame, as everything they own is destroyed. It's a miracle no one was killed. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 03:18 PM I see you changed your avatar lordofhats. Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 03:21 PM The people all thought it was a terrorist attack, even the police. Cars were exploding all up and down the street. Not only did these people lose their homes, but also their cars. Do you think they'll go after him and the company he works for, or just him? mammamaia 12-06-2007, 03:27 PM i have my 'dinner' around 2pm, don't eat another meal after that... today, i'll probably have some of the left-over fettucine i cooked up yesterday for a yummy w/broccoli alfredo feast, but will have it with marinara sauce this time, for variety... more broccoli, or a salad on the side... looooove that pasta! [could happily eat pasta every day of my life, actually... sicilian/italian genes are strong!] lordofhats 12-06-2007, 03:27 PM I see you changed your avatar lordofhats. Yeah I was making V for Vendetta sig and found a pic of the plain anarchy V. I messed with it putting it on my avatar but didn't like it too much so I swtiched it back. Cogito 12-06-2007, 03:28 PM Probably both. There's not much chance of collecting from him, but they'll probably hold the company liable for his actions in their employ. Doncha just love lawyers? He'll undoubtedly never drive a rig again, at least. Anyway (back on topic), time for me to stop at the store for meat loaf ingredients, then home to get it into the oven. Back in a while... Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 03:28 PM Pasta good! Gunslinger 12-06-2007, 03:29 PM Probably both. I live in Southeastern Ma. I too like my coffee. I drink lots. Thats proberly why I suffer with Insomnia Domoviye 12-06-2007, 03:40 PM Pretty much Banzai. Good luck holding the wall. lessa 12-08-2007, 06:26 PM Oh! Thank you! I thought it was some sort of funky donut. A donut is like a small round cake, usually had for breakfast.. and policemen eat them all the time. lessa 12-08-2007, 06:35 PM never heard so many males talk about cooking something. must be my age. I had friends telling me it was terrible that I had my sons learning how to cook proper meals when they were young. But they were more upset about the housecleaning chores. But now they can eat more cheaply and better than heading for Big macs and pizzas. In Canada in the morning you head for Timmy's as that has the best coffee you can get anywhere. they actually have one in Afganistan for the soldiers over there. The real name is Tim Hortons and was started by the famous NHL hockey player so it really is all Canadian. Cogito 12-08-2007, 06:46 PM Cooking is a creative outlet for me. And I like good food anyway. Both my kids enjoy cooking too. My son likes to cook spicy food, as do I. My daughter started college in a Cordon Bleu culinary arts school, before she switched to Graphic Arts. SeaBreeze 12-08-2007, 08:09 PM IF I can get going today, I will cooking a roast up. Roast lamb.. Roast spuds, roast carrots, roast pumpkin, boiled cabbage and cauliflower and not to mention using the pan juices to make a gravy for it all.... Ack.. my heart is clogging at teh thought and my pants are even popping open to allow room! :p :D And breakfast? I don't generally have breakfast during the week except on tuesdays because I actually have time to have breakfast. But on weekends we have hashbrowns and eggs on toast! YUM! and I don't drink coffee or tea. And I can't really have cereal because that generally requires milk which in turn upsets my stomach... :/ Raven 12-08-2007, 08:11 PM I just watched my dog eat half of his own turd after doing it. Imagine how I felt... lessa 12-09-2007, 11:06 AM don't have to imagine. been there done that. Raven 12-09-2007, 11:10 AM lol! And we still love the four legged K9s. lol DivineLemon 12-09-2007, 11:12 AM Well right now (Lunch) I am having a piece of toasted bread with Nutella. lessa 12-09-2007, 11:29 AM ooh that is sweet. my teeth hurt just reading that. I made tea biscuits and butter for lunch. not very healthy but oh so good when hot. Banzai 12-09-2007, 11:30 AM I had sunday roast :) lessa 12-09-2007, 11:35 AM that sounds good. this week don works nights. goes in at 6 pm and gets home at 4am. so I get to have meals I like and he doesn't and I leave him something to eat when he gets home. he wanted tea biscuits before he went back to bed to be ready for work tonight. really it is a weird shift even for shift work. But it pays the bills nicely and since I have never worked outside the home I tend to cater to him. Raven 12-09-2007, 11:54 AM Burgers for me. with a slap of cheese on. and some lettic and some tarta source and buttered bread. With Hebed wedges. Jaclyn 12-09-2007, 03:28 PM Spaghetti and a ceaser salad... mmm... thank you mom :). Banzai 12-09-2007, 03:29 PM Tartar sauce on a burger, Raven? Sounds interesting... I really fancy a chinese :( Cogito 12-09-2007, 05:43 PM Today I have the pizza I mentioned on Thursday, now that the meatloaf is gone. Homemade pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Yummmm! lessa 12-09-2007, 06:53 PM That is one reason in many that I miss Dom. He makes fantastic pizza. I taught him how to make the dough and cover them with good stuff and he now turns out better ones than mine. Don't eat a lot of pizza but I never turn down one of his. Chinese would hit the spot right about now. Oh well maybe another day. DivineLemon 12-09-2007, 07:58 PM For dinner I had chicken fingers, French fries, and corn. There is a typical dinner in my house. Cogito 12-09-2007, 08:07 PM I daresay Domoviye has access to some very good Chinese cuisine. Domoviye 12-09-2007, 08:13 PM Chinese is good, but it gets kind of repetitive after a while, since I'm never sure what I'm ordering. Tonight I'm going go out buy some tomatoes and lettuce, and make up toasted sandwiches with mozzarella cheese. Tasty. Or I'll phone up a cute girl I'm tutoring, and see if she wants a tutoring session tonight and dinner. Gunslinger 12-09-2007, 09:32 PM I just watched my dog eat half of his own turd after doing it. I had to share because I had to glimpse it. And don't say don't watch the eyes always look when they shouldn't Damn dog. What's that old saying, tastes like crap. Jaclyn 12-09-2007, 11:17 PM I order so much pizza that the I'm on a first name basis with the pizza place. And last night I was at a party and the pizza guy was like... hey, I know you... you live on that street. It was pretty funny. :) Domoviye 12-10-2007, 12:04 AM Just make sure it doesn't reach the point that if they don't hear from you in a week they call the cops and report a missing person. That can get embarrassing. ILTBY 12-10-2007, 12:28 AM Vegetarian lasagne which will hopefully be quite good :) Jaclyn 12-10-2007, 12:36 AM HAHAHA! Or if I don't order for a while they'll think I've starved to death, lol. Domoviye 12-10-2007, 01:45 AM Vegetarian lasagne which will hopefully be quite good :) I don't mind vegetarian, but I find it is always, always missing one crucial ingredient. MEAT. If it doesn't have meat its a snack not a meal. I'll just go away now. :D Banzai 12-10-2007, 04:14 AM I'm hungry... I think I'll go get a brie and tomato sandwich from the canteen in a bit. Overpriced, but very nice. And I agree on the meat issue, Dom :p lessa 12-10-2007, 05:12 AM when I was pregnant for my first child all I really wanted to eat was Harvey's hot dogs with mustard onions and pickles. Don was working midnights so before he left for work we would drive to Harvey's and I would have the hot dog. well I went in sometimes and they really loaded the toppings on for me. One night I sat in the car and the server waved at me and Don came out with 2 hotdogs. One with a weiner and one with only toppings. His message was that I put so many onions and pickles on I probably didn't care for the meat part anyway. The truth is that it was the best hot dog I ever had. it is kind of weird, when you drive into a restaurant parking lot and they start your order before you get out of the car. Domoviye 12-10-2007, 05:29 AM I did that a few times at Mcdonalds with this one morning person. He'd walk in, we'd already be pouring the coffee and getting the breakfast burrito ready. Then he spoiled it all when he started to order different things. Frost 12-10-2007, 05:37 AM You can get burritos for breakfast there? Whoa. Domoviye 12-10-2007, 05:45 AM Yeah, cheese, sausage, eggs, microwaved for 30 seconds. Edible, but not very tasty. ILTBY 12-10-2007, 05:50 AM I don't mind vegetarian, but I find it is always, always missing one crucial ingredient. MEAT. If it doesn't have meat its a snack not a meal. I'll just go away now. :D Lmao, I'm don't eat meat, so that makes it a bit hard for me :p It was absolutely delicious, though. The first time we've tried it, but it was a total success. You would have liked it :p Frost 12-10-2007, 06:04 AM Nothing is worth anything without meat. Banzai 12-10-2007, 07:13 AM Seconded. ILTBY 12-10-2007, 07:17 AM You are both mean :p There are plenty of yummy things that don't contain meat :D Chocolate, for instance ;) Seriously, this lasagne was to die for :p Domoviye 12-10-2007, 07:27 AM Good chocolate contains meat. Even if I have to melt the chocolate down and put the meat in myself. ILTBY 12-10-2007, 07:33 AM Wow. That sounds so bad :p lessa 12-10-2007, 08:37 AM ILTBY, he would probably do it. Strange tastes that boy has. actually he is a pretty sane eater. just have a fire extinguisher handy. in the summer I could do vegetarian quite easily but in the winter with nothing fresh looking edible it is meat and potatoes time. I also cannot eat the beans and lentils thing. once in a while chili with kidney beans and pork and beans but that is it. I have had the veg. lasagna and it was quite nice. And Dom has had quite a few vegetarian meals in his lifetime. just doesn't know how often because mothers are tricky. Eoz Eanj 12-10-2007, 09:24 AM As the designated cook for my family, I thought I'd make pasta bake for dinner. It was nice but I've cooked better.. at least it wasn't as bad as last night's dinner.. my first attempt at a vegetarian stir fry which ended up looking like a dog's breakfast, I'm so sorry Mum. lol. lessa 12-10-2007, 09:32 AM Eoz the secret to vegetable stir fry is. use more oil than normal cut the vegetables up bigger dust them in seasoned flour and fry them quickly. drain off the oil add the bean sprouts and at the last minute any sauce you were going to use. have had some that do look like a dogs breakfast or worse. Domoviye 12-10-2007, 09:53 AM I've made some vegetarian meals of my own. Usually pasta. I just like meat. A lot. And now that I've brought it up, I have to try meat in chocolate at some point. Banzai 12-10-2007, 10:08 AM I also will attempt that, Dom :p lessa 12-10-2007, 10:12 AM I wouldn't put it past him. he once made chocolate rice balls that were gross. even he didn't eat them after one bite Domoviye 12-10-2007, 10:27 AM Hey I had at least 10 of those horrible things. I had to prove to you they were edible and not a waste of my time and money. Thank God I never tried it again. kmlovering 12-10-2007, 10:29 AM Dinner...Hmm, the kids do have to eat don't they? Maybe we'll have what Cher served in "Mermaids." Marshmallows, and cheese doodles. Sounds exquisite to me. Actually, I have to try and do something new with hamburger. Oh my God, I have no idea, but when I figure it out, I'll let you know. Cogito 12-10-2007, 10:41 AM Have you tried making "hobo dinners"? You form patties with the ground beef, and put them, seasoned and topped with frozen mixed veggies, in a sealed foil packet. Put it in a 350 oven for 45 minutes to an hour, and you have a meal with no pots or pans to clean up. Domoviye 12-10-2007, 10:42 AM Km if you have young kids, make regular hamburgers except shaped like snowmen and pine trees. Tell your kids they're special hamburgers. If they're older make meat pies. Make pie crust. Cut out little circles in the pie crust about the size of a small saucer. Place hamburger that has been fried on the stove in the middle of it and close it up. Bake them in the oven until the pie crust is golden brown. Eat them with ketchup and they're pretty good. Edit: Cogito my Mom makes up fish like that. You're right it is tasty and easy. Cogito 12-10-2007, 10:49 AM Sounds good, except for ruining them with ketchup. Spice up the meat well with taco seasoning and minced onions, brown it up a bit in the pan, then put it in the pie crust circle and close the packet by folding it over in half so it's shaped like a D. brush the top with a little olive oil (or an egg glaze) and press the edges with the tines of a fork. Bake in a 350 oven until the top is browned, and Voila! empanadas. Domoviye 12-10-2007, 10:56 AM I like my ketchup. And thanks for giving a bit better instructions. I haven't made them in a year, and forgot some details. Heather Louise 12-10-2007, 11:08 AM For tea tonight I had chicken, potaotes, sweetcorn and gravy. very yummy. :p Torana 12-11-2007, 05:37 AM Damn you lot have made me hungry and what I have for tea tonight I really don't know what it is but it looks like it was just taken out of a dog food can and placed in my bowl....It is very off putting that is for sure. I don't think I am hungry after contemplating eating whatever it is to be honest <cries and puts fork with unknonwn substance back into bowl> Domoviye 12-11-2007, 05:42 AM I'm about to boil some spaghetti and smother it in spaghetti sauce, with some dried basil, oregano, hot spice, powdered garlic and Italian spices. Yummy. Torana 12-11-2007, 05:50 AM You wanna send some of that to me via email please Dom? It sounds so much better than DOG FOOD!!!! >< Domoviye 12-11-2007, 06:09 AM No. Spaghetti is expensive and only comes in little packages. I need it all for me. Frost 12-11-2007, 06:59 AM I had bacon and eggs, strangely enough. lessa 12-11-2007, 07:01 AM Spagetti, expensive. never thought I would hear that. it is the cheap meal the day before payday type stuff. Dom you want some in your birthday package. Lemex 12-11-2007, 07:14 AM I'm eating tonight? Domoviye 12-11-2007, 07:34 AM No thank you. And spaghetti is expensive here, because its all imported. Included the spaghetti sauce. But its good, so I don't mind. Also expensive here means it costs about 6 dollars American. Torana 12-11-2007, 07:48 AM No. Spaghetti is expensive and only comes in little packages. I need it all for me. It's alright I ended up having some really yummy home made pizza pockets. They had ham, bacon, mushrooms, olives, tomatoes, pineapple and prawns in them and my gosh they were so yummy it isn't funny. I want more lol but I ate all 15 of them :D Domoviye 12-11-2007, 07:52 AM I'll send you spaghetti the next time I make it if you send me some of those Torana. I can't find yeast so I haven't been able to make pizza months. And while some of the pizza I've had here is good, its not the same. Torana 12-11-2007, 07:59 AM Sounds good to me :p lol I love being creative with food and seeing what I can do with it. I can't go off recipe books, I always mess up so i make my own recipies and voila a awesome filling feed that is so yummy you just can't get enough of it lol and I seem to be good at it sometimes lol <just don't tell anyone cause then they will want me to cook for them and realise I can cook and then some foolish male might want a relati....I dare not say the word. LOL > Sayso 12-11-2007, 08:12 AM You don't need a jar of sauce to make spagetti. We'll be having home made chicken pie with potatoes and peas. Yum. lessa 12-11-2007, 08:47 AM I have about 200 recipe books and 6 sites for recipes on the computer and I never use them. I cook from scratch and add what I think looks good. Haven't had a lot of failures but then I have been cooking since I was 8 earlier if you count mud pies. My favourite to make is egg rolls. they are so good when they are right out of the fryer. chicken pot pie sounds good and I already have the stew made. Don't know if I would use biscuit topping or pie crust. will have to wait and see about 6pm. Good_writer 12-11-2007, 09:02 AM We'll be having home made chicken pie with potatoes and peas. Yum. Hey, Sayso, invite me to dinner. *hopeful eyes* Gunslinger 12-11-2007, 09:14 AM No thank you. And spaghetti is expensive here, because its all imported. Included the spaghetti sauce. But its good, so I don't mind. Also expensive here means it costs about 6 dollars American. Here, spaghetti is usually 2 boxes for one U.S. dollar. Some times they run sales three for one dollar, .33 cents. We should start our own buisness. I'll ship you spaghetti, and you sell it for less than everyone else. We'll make money hand over fist. Torana 12-11-2007, 09:15 AM I have only one recipe book and that is for cooking for babies and toddlers. I wanted to know the best foods to cook for my children and so I bought it. Learnt a lot from it and got some great ideas as well. Otherwise I don't bother with recipe books at all. Experimentation is the only way to go in my opinion and that is how I learnt to cook. Raven 12-11-2007, 09:19 AM Indeed it is. Gannon 12-11-2007, 09:45 AM I'm having some bean and sausage stew akin to Cassoulet - just adding the wine (to me) now. Cogito 12-11-2007, 09:51 AM I have a large quantity of recipe books. I usually use them for a starting point, and sometimes I'll look up a few versions of the same dish in different books. The problem with off-the-top-of-my-head experimentation is that I tend to fall into similar recipe patterns. I'm actually more experimental when I see unique recipe ingredients I would probably not have thought of. I just sort of went duh I learned to make soup from my mother and she learned from her mother. you take some meat put it in water spice it the way you like and toss in all the vegetables that are left in the crisper the day before or the day you get groceries. How do you tell someone that is your recipe. Same with stews or casseroles. You make them to hide things your family doesn't particularly like. I love to read the recipes and then mix and match them to make them my recipe. Domoviye 12-12-2007, 09:32 AM I had store bought pizza with meat and more cheese added by me. Tasty, but I left it in too long and the crust was harder then usual. I really need to find some yeast. Domoviye 12-12-2007, 09:35 AM Here, spaghetti is usually 2 boxes for one U.S. dollar. We'll make money hand over fist. .33 cents is 2.30 yuan here. They can buy meals for less if here if they want to bargain a little. And they prefer their own noodles to foreign ones, thats why I have to buy imported spaghetti instead of buying local. Good idea in theory though. Heather Louise 12-12-2007, 09:36 AM Not sure what we'll be having but for afters we will be having the chocolate log I made at school today. And chicken tikka is a curry. very nice curry at that. lessa 12-12-2007, 10:04 AM thought it might be the swiss roll. think I will pass on the tika. never a fan of curry. thanks for explaining. Heather Louise 12-12-2007, 10:11 AM Not a problem. And I am not a fan of curries either, they are too hot for me normally. Cogito 12-12-2007, 10:20 AM Tiki Masala is actaually a mild, aromatic, somewhat creamy curry. I like it, although I favor the hotter ones like Vindaloo. I tossed the package before I thought about getting the name of the sauce. It was dark brown and sort of sour and sweet. Could anyone tell me what would be in it. I would like to make my own for other things like spring rolls or egg rolls. Might even try to make the samosas as well.
