I have just this minute recieved the phone call.

I'm going I'm actually finally after the long wait have been granted permission to live in the Falklands.


At long last.

When I move I could be abscent for a while depending on how quick I get internet access. Which should be the week we move in.

How about staying Hulls Raven so I never forget where my Origins are. :p I'm not sure If I'll be moving before xmas or at the start of January 2008.

On Monday I go to fill in the forms then Once thats done I'll have to arrange transport for my dogs and belongings. I'm actually shaking the excitement is overwhelming.

Because I served in the army for a good number of years and served a small time on the Falklands It was easier for me to get residence. But because the falklands is so small and they have no benefits system you need to have a set amount in the bank. And to live there yes you need to apply but because the island is small and there aren't so many homes available it was hard. Because I have no criminal record and have served there it was easier but they are very and I stress Very picky on who they let in on a perminant basis.

Luckily I am within the criteria I am able to move there but I needed permission from their government I had to wait almost a full year. Its been a long haul and one I'm happy to say has paid off.

I also needed to find work because again their is no benefits system so I needed to be able pay my way so to speak. I have that Job and start in February now.

The Falklands is a place I need to live because I have seen so much in my army Career that the last few years since America's 9/11 and the War in Iraq and Afghanistan I need to be at peace. And there is the place I want to be.

yay!... hooray for you and yours, simon!... i'm sure it will be a happy adventure for all of you, despite whatever snags you might hit along the route... let us know what it's like when you get settled, willya?... and post some pix of your new home!
