The land is Nanaria, ruled by a benevolant and faithful king. But hard times have come to this land of past riches and peace. Once it was a place of wonders, brave knights, bueatiful maidens, mythical creatures, and terrible monsters. Many came from all around to have a go at making thier fortune. Not now. Now Nanaria is nothing more than a cursed husk of its former glory. The king, long since dead, has passed his empire onto his eldest daughter. The little wretch turning our beloved kingdom into a disgrace.

It was said long ago Nanaria was a place of sunshine, but we havent seen her golden rays in over thrity years. Only the light hues of purple across our skies at noon. Many have forgotten what the sun looked like. There is a legend that when the true queen is found the sun will rise. When the the true queen sits upon the throne, golden rays will admonish her with the crown and the people will know, Nanaria has returned to glory.

Nanaria is a land of magic and mystic, but this must be hidden less the Queen Sonya finds them. Sonya was born with out magic and has come to loath anything 'tainted' with it.

Simply put, news stories and what not will change the course of the story. Hunts will happen to keep things intresting.

I got kicked off the computer at the Library. Darn timer things. Okay, Back now and going to start.

It had been a long journey from the out skirts of Nanaria, her steed was exhausted as was Sestet. She dismounted with all the grace her tired form could muster. She pushed her raven bangs from her eyes with a long sigh and handed the reigns to the stable boy.

"Please see that he is well taken care of. He is very precious to me." She said handing the stable boy a gold coin as insurance. She patted the exotic creatures mane, grabbed her satchel and turned towards the exit. Her steed, Enta, was a rarely seen mystical elk she had found as a faun. She was a little taller than a horse and elegant as a deer. Her horns curved back over her head but were only half a foot long, as were her ears. She had a long lion like tail with tufts at the end. The breed, Edius elk, only bread in the mountains of Nanaria.

Sestet entered the Inn across the street, her thick soled boots completely inaudible in the loud room. She went to the keeper and asked for a room as well as a hot meal. He smiled with a nod and handed her the key to one of the rooms. Asking her to take a seat in the common he went into the kitchen to prepare her meal. She sat at one of the tables with a long exhaled breath before opening the satchel and letting the small critter inside out. The ferret inside was in a rather playful mood now that it was dusk and the sky would turn from a soft purple blue to indigo black.

"Good evening, Loki." She smiled. The ferret chattered at her hungrily. "Yes our dinner will be out shortly."

The sun was bright from where Zauree had started trekking. Shadows of trees loomed on her as she ran over to the lengthy pathways. With each step, she felt even freer. She finally looked over to the sky to find a tichkehr quacking joyfully towards her. She had seen those eagle winged creatures before, with the body of a white tiger cub and wide, fancy wings like that of an eagle covered in snow. She stood still, daunted in surprise. The tichkehr smelt of the rain. She smiled and thought to herself: Azron.

She turned around to see Azron running towards her. She waved at him merrily at which he grinned and screeched his way to a stop. Zauree petted the tichkehr which had settled on her shoulder.

"Well, well, have we brought with oneself a new pet?"
"Not a pet, Zauree. A hunter."
Azron clicked his fingers at which the tichkehr started to gain flight.
"Go find them, my dear tichkehr."
He said out in a commanding, and the tichkehr let out a melodious purr. Zauree watched as the mystical creature left.

"You know how to train tichkehrs, I presume?"
"Certainly not. This fellow has been hypnotized."
"You hypnotized it?"
"Certainly not. A friend."
"Does he know of your intentions, Azron?"
"Certainly-"
"Oh, stop saying certainly not over and over again. Be direct."
Zauree complained playfully, her dialouge followed by laughing. Azron blushed and said:
"Well...Like I said, my friend doesn't know."
Zauree made up a serious face and said:
"Good."
Azron didn't bother ask why she thought it good, but continued their trek.

"The dusk is falling, Zauree."
He said after a short while.
"Then you must do me a favor with your powers."
Azron sighed and said morosely:
"I cannot speed up our journey. The only thing we can do, is take refuge in that inn I see."
Zauree agreed and they changed their course.

Cilinus watched the other people in the common room of the inn she had stopped at. It was a cozy room, warm with rich scents in the air; many of the patrons were relaxed and sleepy. It was almost time.
Cili changed the direction of her stare to the fire, which began to burn lower and lower. The patrons looked around, confused. The fire dimmed to embers, then the light was snuffed out completely. Only then did Cili rise from her chair to stand with her back the grate. People were chattering; someone called for the innkeeper.
Cili slowly raised her hands to the ceiling and shouted, "Listen well, all of you!" The fire blazed up once more, outlining her. Several people jumped, and two yelped. She lowered her arms, staring straight and unfocused at the wall.
"Listen to my tale!
"Long ago there was a sun, long ago it burned brightly. Hotter than this flame. The only light of it we now see comes when it is almost gone, purple rays across the skies. It will not come again, not until it finds she who it likes to shine upon. Some evil power snuffed it out, took it away, hid it. They hid it so it would not show us any truth. Lies and deception, that is what this evil feeds upon. Darkness, and deceit. What now is left to us, without the sun? Where is the green grass, and the tall trees? Where are the warm days of spring and summer? What is fall without the falling leaves? Have we only now winter's chill?"
The people listening seemed to see a golden summer's day, and falling leaves, a bitter winter night. They saw green stretches of grass plains and towering trees with crowns in the heavens.
Cili's voice slowed to a halt. She stared forward at the same images the others saw, captivated. The fire slowly died down again to where it was at the beginning. The images died in the spectators eyes, and Cili stood in front of the fire with her eyes closed. Waiting; silent and waiting.

The fire that trickled inside the walls of the inn grasped Zauree's attention even before she had entered the inn. She let Azron take lead, in case danger lay ahead. Azron faithfully guarded the young girl as he walked into the inn, unnoticed by some but stared by many.
"No camouflage, Azron?"
Zauree whispered into his ears, seeing how people eyed him.
"No."
"Why not?"
"Magical abilities should not be taken for granted. One should know how to survive without them too."
Azron smiled at the enthusiast who stood for making a speech, her eyes closed due to perhaps an overflow of emotions.

Cili's eyes snapped open, briefly taking in the common room again, and then looking into the faces of the people who watched her. They were waiting also. A door slammed. Nobody moved.
Cili reached behind her for the harp that had been lying by the fire rapped in an old cloth. She had put it there that morning when the inn keep had asked her to perform. It was finely tuned and ready for a song. Cili gauged the audience's mood. They were still captivated by the story, so she chose to start with a sad love song.
Some of the ladies were crying when she finished, so she moved on to a happier song, with more pep.
Ciili continued to play various tunes throughout the night, playing folk songs which the audience joined in, or singing alone to introduce a new piece.
Her grand finally was her favorite part. She would sing a song alone. It was a song of her own composition, so no body knew it. It started fast, peppy, and finished slowly, with the fire gradually dieing behind her. Then it went out with the last note of the harp trembling in the air. Cili walked back to her seat and sat down, and to all appearances went to sleep. The fire came back up, revealing a very confused common room who only saw a travel stained traveler asleep in the corner. They saw no harp, no bard, no trees, or grass. Many decided they had been dreaming. No one mentioned the fact that they had all dreamed the same thing at the same time.
Cili was laughing into the table, content with another days work well done.

Azron nodded, having not paid attention to the show. He was busy designing plans, and hadn't the slightest of idea what had happened around them. Zauree leaned over him and read the map he had drawn out.
"Neat."
"Indeed."
He spoke lowly, waiting for his tichkehr to bring news of Seaven was the man he had come here for, but for some reason he didn't turn up.
"I'm tired. Let's find a place to rest."
Zauree moaned, at which Azron nodded and slowly folded his map.
"Indeed. Let's ask the innkeeper if there is any place for us."
Zauree grinned and yawned, tempted to sleep.

Leo walked quickly down the stairs. He seemed to have fallen asleep while fixing a curtain in a vacant room. He anxiously glanced around the lobby, hoping that the Inn Keeper had forgotten that Leo was to report back to him. Everyone in the lobby was chattering quietly. The fire was running low, he tended to it quickly, adding logs from the forest across the way.

In the lobby, he noticed that two figures stood amongst the sitting crowd. The man was tall, quite a bit taller than Leo and his female companion. The woman was significantly smaller, and significantly younger. They both talked amongst themselves, and Leo was sure that by the looks on their faces, and the mention of the word 'rest', they wanted a place to stay.

"Can I help you, Sir?" Leo asked, walking over to the shady couple.

Zauree cheerily smiled back at, pushing behind her braided black hair. Azron scornfully eyed him at first, possessive of his friend, but slowly eased his expressions.
"Maybe. We were wondering if there was a place to stay for the night. My lady and i would require two rooms."
Zauree yawned once more, adding:
"And oh, even straw beds work if that's all you got."
"Straw beds?!"
Azron exclaimed, his green eyes shocked on their own. He was from a rich background, and straw beds were something unknown to him. However, being undercover he had to retain his emotions.
"I mean, just like the lady wants."

He looked deeper into the couple's faces. She looked cheery; innocent almost. Her soft features were a distraction to his scorned eyes. The fellow, on the other hand, looked very apprehensive, as if hiding something great; great and terrible.

"Will you take it?" Leo asked finally.

Sestet had watched the Bard with a knowing smirk on her gentle lips. She fallowed along with the old story she had heard so many times before.

A story of the sun, truths and lies. It made her heart ache for the old man. Shaking her head as the finally came she turned her attention to her dinner. The steaming plate before her was so tantalizing she thought it might not be real.

Sestet had traveled a long way. This town was told to house many "outlaws". It was rumored to enjoy magical folk. She traveled here in hopes of spreading a positive view of magic. It worried her, to be so close to the capital. In such she was cautious in letting in on her true identity. Instead she planned to stay a while before even attempting the show she was so determined to preform. She looked around the room. Her eyes scanning the walls looking for a sketched wanted poster that conveyed her image. Thankfully she did not find one. She was proud to no she was famous, but only to those she wanted the know of her.

She settled down with a long sigh and began to munch on her dinner. Loki sat nibbling at the chunks of food handed to him with a content growl.

Cili kept her eyes buried in her arms until the common room had quieted down and she could stop laughing. After a long while, she sat up again, yawning and stretching. It wasn't all an act, because magic always drained her strength just a little bit, and fire was wily. It didn't like the commands of another. It kicked against her will fiercely. It only submitted when it was allowed to roar above its bonds.
The inn keep, who had been watching her from the corner of his eye since the show, slowly approached her and dropped a handkerchief before her. "Your wages, miss." He slunk away, both respectful and fearful of her. He didn't like magic. Cili took the packet and hid it beneath her cloak, to inspect later. She had more important matters to tend to.
She stood and walked deliberately to Sestet's table, where she sat down, apparently fascinated by the ferret. Leaning forward, she let her hair fall over her face and whispered, "Who are you?" to Sestet.

((By the by, I haven't done RPG in a long time, and even then it was free style and rapidly paced, only lines at a time on a chatting type program rather than paragraphs in a slow manner. "Uhh...sure. I suppose."
Azron spoke shakily, looking towards Zauree who was smiling like always.
"Sure, sure! Two beds is as good as two rooms."
She spoke joyfully, when suddenly her enthusiasm faltered as she thought of spending the night with a friend who she hardly knew. Well, she had known him for seven years...but that wasn't always enough. Azron noticed the disturbed look on her face but did not want the worker to take much note of it.
"So shall we be shown our room?"
He spoke so confidently that Zauree was compelled to nudge him.
"Idiot...we're acting as poor people. Ask about the rent first."
She whispered lowly, and he immediately corrected himself:
"I mean...how much would that be?"

"Three pieces of gold." Leo said, trying not to let his weird feelings toward the couple show.

He could have sworn that he heard the woman whispering something to the man about being poor. The man smiled awkwardly, as if he had no idea where he was.

What is going on? Leo thought to himself.

He made a mental note to himself that the couple should be watched, and if need be, he would tell the Inn Keeper about their strange behaviour.

"If the price is alright with you," Leo started. "I can lead you to your room."

Leo lead the pair up the creaking, wooden stairs. Candles along the wall glowed and lead the way to the end of the staircase. At the top, there was a long, narrow hallway, with doors lining the sides.

As Leo passed the doors, he could hear different sounds from the inside. In one, a baby was crying; In another, a woman sang softly as she scurried around the Inn room, apparently doing some sort of chore.

Finally, the group reached a small door at the end of the hallway. The latch was broken, and the door was stained with mildew.

"Sorry..." Leo said, embarassed at the state of the room. "There was an... accident last night. I'm afraid I haven't had time to scrub the door and fix the latch."

Leo opened the door, letting the two inside the room. It was extremely tiny, there was only room for a bed and a nightstand. On the bed, a stricken curtain was sprawled along the dusty pillows. On the nightstand, a large, thin candle burned slowly, dully illuminated the room. Above the stand was a window; small and broken, the view of dark trees and shady individuals littered the landscape.

"How long will you be staying with us?" Leo asked, picking up the curtain that laid on the bed.

Azron and Zauree exchanged desperate looks as the hideous (or something close to it) room was revealed to them. Zauree grinned widely, accustomed to such inns. However, Azron was highly disillusioned. Sweat had already started to trickle down his neck as he thought of how uncomfortable his night was going to be.

Zauree quietly went into the room, flopping over the bed in a better state. Azron despised her uncouth style, especially her inhuman yawn, but did not say a thing.
"We'll be staying for the night, and possibly tomorrow morning," He then sulked artificially.
"Provided we have money."

Hajime stood outside the inn with several other guards in tow. The night was dark and frought with magical misfits running loose. He adjusted his white hat then turned to his inferiors.
"When we go in there i want to be fast, this is not the last place we will check tonight." he watched the faces of the incompetant recruits, "Understood?"
"Yes, Sir!" was the choir like response.
"Good. Atalos, you will read the list of suspects, the rest will fish them out." he handed Atalos a slender scroll.
Hajime led the way, opening the door into the inn. He always enjoyed the look of fear on peoples faces when they saw his blue uniform.
He smiled slightly when the murmurs died down and watched as Atalos read the register. he watched as the innkeeper was dragged away amid the futile pleas of his wife.
After everyone on the list had been taken away Hajime still felt that this inn was hiding something. He adjusted his hat again and walked out of the inn.

Leo was just about to tell the couple about free tea and buisuits being served each morning in the lobby, when he heard a commotion downstairs. The door of the Inn had been opened abruptly, with an apparent strong force. He heard heavy footsteps, then worried voices.

Suddenly, he heard a familar voice. The Inn Keeper was yelling something that he couldn't understand through the two floors, but it was obvious that he was in an up roar. More people in the lobby started to yell furiously, and a voice of a stern man quieted them and left the lobby.

Leo swiftly walked to the window inside the dirty room. In the dark, he could see the Royal Guards, hauling almost ten people out of the Inn. The people looked scared; worried even. Then he saw his boss being carried by two of the biggest guards out of the Inn. What did the Queen suspect now? What if the guards found out that Leo was working for the Inn Keeper? Would they come for him too?

"I have to get out of here." Leo said aloud.

History: Once, Nanaria had been a place of Magic and fortune. Alger remembered such times. Once, he had stood in the Royal Court of the king as the best swordsman in all the land...once. Time had passed though, nearly thirty years as best as Alger could tell from his dark hole in the mountains. Magic was almost lost to this place now, as lost as hope was. That ill-begotten wench who held the throne now...it was her fault. She had done this to him. It was a little known fact, but when this 'queen' took the throne, she had her own little escort of those who could wield the power of magic. She had outlawed it, yet they who served her still used it. He could remember the day all had been lost. He had tried to fight, tried the help the revolt. He had been so close to ending it, his sword at her back. One of her magicians had stopped Alger. He was tortured for weeks. That magician took his body from him, twisted his features. Now he was a monster...and no one remembered the name of the Alger.

Alger crouched down in the alleyway across from the inn where the uniformed men were carrying people away. Those men were supposed to be the Royal Guard, but in actuality they were nothing more than murders. The people they carted away, suspected magic users or people who plotted against the queen, were never heard from again. That is, unless you counted their screams.
Alger stood a little and began hobbling towards the guards and their captives. One, clearly the leader, was barking orders. That one was his target. Alger hobbled ever closer, the clink of his chain armour sounded in an almost rhythmic fashion, like the sacrificial drumbeat of the surrounding tribes. Alger's eyes were trained on the leader. Slowly he reached into the folds of his cloak and gripped the hilt of the blade that had once marked him as the best swordsman in all the land. It still fit him perfectly.
"You there, what are you doing?"
One of the guards had drawn his blade and was walking towards Alger briskly. Before the other guards had a chance to turn and see what the commotion was about, Alger dashed towards the guard and, with his free hand, smacked the man hard across the chest. The crack of bones breaking could be heard as the man was sent flying through the air. The leader spun on Alger and had his blade out in an instant, but so did Alger.
"Stay your blades men. I'll handle this beast."
The man was too confident. He lashed out at Alger with deft precision. So swift was the blow that even Alger was caught a little off guard, yet he still managed to block it. The man was clearly surprised. He wasn't used to someone blocking his attacks. He was in for more surprises. Alger launched a volley of swift stabs at the man, pushing him on the defense. The man was quick, sweat trickled down his brow. Then it came. Alger saw the opening, however small and brief it might have been. He kicked the man hard in the stomach, sending him sprawling.
Before the guards had a chance to react, Alger brought his sword down hard on the chains the bound the captives.
"Run!" He gargles out as he turned to do the same.
With a mighty leap, Alger jumped up onto the roof of one of the nearby buildings. For a moment he glared down at the man who had been leading the guards. The man met his stare without fear. Credit had to be given for bravery. In another moment, Alger was gone. He had dashed off across the rooftops without so much as a backward glance.

"Goodness, what is that!"
Zauree got up from the bed, her face pale and dry. Azron trembled as he heard the commotion, the haunting screams and pleas of the people. Some guards from the Royal Court had arrested several suspects for mutiny and revolt against the Queen. Azron was clearly frightened, but he recovered immediately as the voices shifted to the window and the worker went over to the window.

The worker cried out involuntarily, probably afraid of his own arrest. Zauree reached out for Azron and grabbed his shoulder, worried.

He helped her sit down after the shocking tragedy, at which she whispered:
"That was lucky escape."
Azron made sure the guard was still emotionally tangled in the situation, looking back at him. He then whispered to Zauree.
"I don't think so. If I would've been on the suspects' list, the guards would've come to check the rooms."
"They probably don't know your location."
"Or," Azron said out, a bit louder, "They're coming back later."

Zauree shivered at the frightening possibility, and sulked in disdain.
"Then, what should we do?"
She cried out loud, both of them forgetting the worker was still there.

There was another haul of screams and Azron moved over to the window himself, seeing a brave man free the captives. The guards were profoundly shocked, but very angry. Azron was relieved; they wouldn't come back for more until they caught the lost sheep.

"How did this happen?"
"A beast came, hidden in the shadows, he crept up on us and-"
"How is it that he was not dispatched!"
"My lord, this beast has great skill with the sword. I have not-"
"Hajime! The reason you were assigned to carry out this task was because of your superior swordsmanship. I find it unacceptable that you be disgraced in front of your men in this manner." Hajime clenched his fist and cursed under his breath.
"Rise from your semi-recumbent position and leave my chamber."
Hajime arose, and stood tall. He eyed the hooded silhoette and bowed his head slightly before turning and walking away. His footsteps echoed on the marble floors as he left the massive chamber. He thought to himself how good it would feel to slowly dismember his superior and smiled as he walked out into the sunshine.

Cili stood hidden behind an overly large shrub that had not been there moments before, waiting for all the commotion to die down. The guards interrupted her in the middle of her question, and threw the entire inn into chaos. At this point Cili had taken refuge behind a small potted plant replaced with the image of a large shrub she had seen a few days ago. Cili had lost site of Sestet in the action, and was hesitant to find her again. Sestet might think that Cili had had something to do with it.
No thank you, Cili thought, looking around. After several moments, she slipped from her cover (the image of the bush vanished), and retreated to her room. Best to wait for the dawn before any other ferreting around.

Sestet had been seconds away from answering Cicil. Her mouth open and a response half out of her mouth.

She watched as the guards entered the room. Her eyes narrowed as she turned away from them, her eyes moved to the ferret on the table. They two seemed to have a silent conversation.

Sestet was unmoved by the commotion. As if she had been unnoticed by the guard. And in fact, she was. It was something she had learned to do. Unless they knew that Sestet was their target, and knew it will all their being that she was the one they intended to take in. They would simply see her as no threat. She would not even have been questioned.

After they filed out she smirked at Loki. "Well, dear, that was easy."

Loki chattered at her, in response Sestets eyes widened. "Hmph, I wouldn't say that. More.... Confidant."

Again Loki chittered, but simply crawled back into the back for a nap. Sestet looked around the room for Cicil. Not finding her, she turned to the rest of the room. Deciding her plan was going to be much more trouble. She would simply have to make it... a spur of the moment thing. Once all those guards go on their way.

Leo abandoned the couple without another word. He raced down the hallway, and the stairs, then slowed down his pace when he got to the lobby. The people in the lobby seemed a little shaken, but most of them were not that affected by the incident.

Leo pushed through the door in the back of the lobby. A tiny kitchen emerged, covered in hanging pots and boiling liquids. He walked through the tiny maze, coming to another door. Exiting the building, Leo walked into the uncertain, dark, cold night.

Zauree was pretty afraid, but Azron gently rocked her to asleep.
"You're such a child."
He laughed to himself once she had fallen asleep, and instead of sleeping, waited for his tichkehr to arrive. After all, the room's condition was frightening! It wasn't that Azron had never pretended to be poor, but that only ad been twice, and his act never extended to the night. Being a spy in the government, he usually chose to be a guard, and from where he came from the guards had good conditions.

Azron then glanced outside the window once more. He was happy the government hadn't gotten to him yet, but fear kept pricking him. He was on the wanted list about two weeks ago, when he was near Isti, a small garrison town, but maybe they labeled him as dead? Or maybe, he just wasn't an important enemy anymore. They are so wrong.

Azron stood up as a tichkehr finally flew right through the window, a letter in his hand. He was delighted; this was simply extraordinary for him! He unfolded the letter, also petting the tichkehr. He then calmly read it, until suddenly it dropped from his hands as the mocking wind whistled through his existence.
I have thought about your proposal, stranger. However, I have also said a big, flat no earlier. You tried to persuade me by locating me through this tichkehr. Too bad for you, I am not going to be intimidated. However, your adamant ways encourage me to at least compensate. It won't be long before I find you, and then, the Queen will tackle with you herself.
The thought of trying to find him immediately struck Azron. He brushed through the tichkehr's hair, smelling a unique perfume. Magic dust, to locate me.

Azron sighed and rubbed his temples. It was late, so he decided not to disturb Zauree.
"Why did I bring her with me?"
He questioned himself as he planned for ahead.

((In my opinion, nothing is dead until it starts stinking. We need something to go on to continue the sim... if you don't mind my asking, where did you intend for this thing to go? In the old chat-based sims I'm used to do, the GM would leave hints for us as to where he/she wanted us to go and leave us to our own devices on how to get there.
I have a few ideas on how to continue if you're interested... though I've never been GM before, but that was because I was too slow in the chat-based sims. This is different.))

((I've played some DnD and stuff. Basically it was where ever the characters took it. I mean, the logical end would have been for the true queen to come back. But it was really planned out to be much more character based, I didn't intend it to have a gm sort of person.))
