Hi
Just a quick question.

Is there any special page specifications that you use when writing on a computer. Page width etc..?

I read on Wikipedia that 2,000 words = 10 pages in book form. Or should I not worry about this and let some editor deal with it all? :)

Hi Steve

I'm not sure about page margins but I do know that - when submitting work - you should double space the lines of text and indent the first line of every paragraph apart from the first paragraph of every chapter or section. I guess it's up to individual publishers to let you know if they want otherwise.

Hope that helps you in some way. Welcome to the site by the way...

you can email me for format guides re the various mediums...

for prose, all mss must be double-spaced and left-aligned, should have 1-1.25" side margins, 1" top and bottom... most universally acceptable font is courier and whatever you use, it must be 12 pt...

do not concern yourself with the number of words on a page... all you need to know is the total number and whether your piece is within the proper range for whatever publisher you're submitting it to... that said, if you format/type properly, you should have around 250 words per page...

hope this helps... email me for guides and more details, if needed...

Awesome. Thanks you guys. It may sound a little silly but something like that put me off from writing. I need to know everything about what I'm doing before I do it. Thanks again

Steve

nothing wrong with being 'virgo'-prepared, steve!

Personally, I try to avoid details like that. But if need be, I suppose knowing an estimate of words/page, total word count/ etc could be useful.

if you're writing to sell, lp, you'd better not ignore the formatting details and certainly not the total word count!... those are the 'useful' things that, if 'avoided,' will get your work tossed before it's even read...
