Specs:
Role-play Fantasy
Notable Reference towards type of Role-play: Final Fantasy, Lord of the Rings
Older Times (At highest point, technology doesn’t advanced any further than our time)
Write the next part (abiding by the Forum rules)
No controlling other characters
First post, make and introduce your character (You may introduce them however you want, either in the format I used, or any other way you see fit.)
You may make your own race, color them however you want to, and make him however you want to (Dog woman, Cat man.) I’ll make races up at a later time.
Powers and weapons: You can have a maximum of two elemental powers and two weapons.
NO INVINCIBILITY OR ANY OTHER UNFAIR ASPECTS
Continue off however you want from the last post
Starting position in story is in Greava, although you may go off on another side story to explain how you got to Greava to keep the role-play going.
All questions should be directed to me
Communicate!
Length is no problem, short reply or long hand is fine.
Any questions should be sent to me through PM, or if you must ask….well…maybe I’ll make a discussion thread somewhere.
You may go off any post you see fit to, as long as it continues to progress the story.
All continuations must progress the story. No exceptions
READ ALL POSTS (or the last post well enough to keep the story flowing without having major holes in the plot)
No killing off any character. Those that leave are welcome to come back.
Enjoy. This is for fun, so take it serious but enjoy doing so.
Flaming, insults, or any other types of harshness that is deliberately trying to hurt someone else’s feelings will not be tolerated at all, nor anywhere on the Forums.
Realism:
Sure, this is fantasy. Fantasy implies that you can do whatever you want, right?
Not quite.
In Lord of the Rings, you do not see Gandalf summoning 999,999,999 huge dragons to kill the entire world. You do not see Sauron moving continents around with his pinkie finger. You do not see Frodo slaughter millions of people with a single swoop of his sword.
Which brings us to the guidelines:
Do not god-mode
Please don't make your character too powerful. Unless this is the Game Master creating some weird evil boss for the entire campaign, please avoid making your character overly powerful or godlike. Creating overpowered characters removes a lot of fun one can have while role-playing. Please consider the other participants. What fun is a story without some struggle? Take your GM's advice.
Know Your Place
Usually, characters will be split up into main characters and supporting characters. Main characters are crucial to the story, and everyone instead of the player that created it sometimes decides their actions, unless noted otherwise by the maker of the thread. Supporting characters are also crucial; they add spice to the story and make it much more complex and interesting. However, supporting characters aren't central to the story, and should refrain from affecting the storyline too much.
If you are a main character, please remain active in the storyline and don't fall back into a supporting character. If you are a supporting character, please don't overstep your bounds and try to be a main character. Know your place as assigned to you to keep things smooth. Anyone can be a main character, but if you are lackadaisical, you may end up falling into a supporting character role.
Be In Character
If you are stuck for a character profile at the beginning of the game, you may be able to make one up as you go, depending on what the maker of the thread prefers. Build up a general sense of the character's personality, and stick to it. Please don't act randomly out of character all the time. Your personality traits and other things to note should be typed up in your Character Sheet/Profile that is made in your first thread and made known to your supporting writers before the game begins. If we continue to have more profiles, a thread for a Character Sheet will be made.
If you need to temporarily "use" someone else's character to get the story moving, please make sure to do it so that everyone acts the way they normally would! As well, if you do this, the User must know of this, and full well understand. There is no controlling another character (killing them, or having them do something that the User-Author wouldn't do themselves.)
Be Active in the OOC Thread
Please communicate with everyone in the OOC thread if one is made! Communicate, communicate, and communicate. So many of the world's problems would be solved if everyone did this. If you are planning anything major, do not hesitate to post about it in the OOC thread. If you surprise people, they will not understand.
Keep an Open Mind
If someone requests you to change something you did, or criticizes something you did, please try not to get automatically defensive and angry. Problems are best worked out with empathy on both sides, and no one can improve without criticism. Please remember to be courteous to everyone, and really try to listen to what they are saying. Remember the golden rule: do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. If you like to be taken seriously and have your opinions respected and listened to, then please do the same for others, it is only common courtesy. For our thread, if you use dialogue or an action that is very big in the story (someone kills someone, etcetera) you need to send your post to the person you are using. For instance, if you make me kill someone in the thread, I want to see it before you send it because maybe my guy is a natural activist. Check with them first.

{Green is entry points for the writer, since I'm the game master, I want to make it obviously.}
The Greava Territory was one of the largest establishments in the world at that point in time; mostly because it was situated along the banks of the Lootah River: the only major water source within miles. The Lootah flowed down from the mountains to the north, and emptied into the ocean located sixty miles south of Greava. The area was advantageous because of its moisture, it would cause several different climate changes in the terrain, which attracted all of the races: both the good, and of the evil ones, because everybody needs water. Naturally, this causes clashes every now and then when the separate civilizations collide.
Although the territory of Greava was excessively large, the town itself was a small; housing district where the simple clay and dirt houses could be built and located. They were usually one roomed and contained little. There was also a few markets, including shops for any item, two inns, and several restaurants. Their futile attempts to keep the evil out consisted of a twenty-foot high wall, two gates to the north and south of the city, and an army that exceeded twenty thousand soldiers, which was smaller than normal compared to the surrounding armies in other districts.
It is February, and the winter has not been kind on Greava. In the last week, there has been four feet of unrelenting snow, and the skies are just now starting to clear, which should call for the inns to gradually empty as the travelers leave on their ways, resuming whatever task they were doing before. The sun is at its highest point and at its warmest that it would get to today at twelve degrees. Ominous clouds are gathering to the north and should move southwards to batter the region with more snow in the coming hours, but at the moment it’s a break between spats of precipitation.
It didn’t take long for Evan to leave his small abyss on the outskirts of Greava once he had noticed the minimal change in the weather. Although the sun was beaming its rays, it was still far too cold for his likings. He picked up his feet, running back into the village. Even though the Greava Territory was one of the biggest, the village never seemed to change, which was discouraging for Evan. He wanted adventure!
Maybe his chance was coming.
After the exercise of merely treading through the snow into town, he had noticed the first change to the town in almost a century. Travelers in large quantities, several hundreds of them, most of them either exiting from a wagon that was pulled by the mighty beasts of the North or from stallions of white; most exiting the winter by walking into the several inns, pubs, markets, and other establishments.
Evan approached the nearest pub to him, hoping that the barkeep would have any answers to the strange visitors.
What had happened in the North that had forced so many to Greava? Evan had thought the Great War had ended, but he could have been mistaken, for news traveled slowly to Greava. Why would the Territory allow so many visitors was another good question that boggled his mind. Was there something wrong with the security at the Wall, or was it intentional and if so, what about the wicked that always seemed to enter with travelers?
Evan entered the pub, finding it full of costumers, but always in her spot, was his favorite barkeep, Jennifer. As Evan walked towards Jennifer, who was behind the bar, mixing several different drinks at mach speed, he was stopped by someone, who had grabbed his coat sleeve. Ever alert and vigilant, Evan turned around, unexpectedly meeting friendly eyes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I used to be a soldier. They used my abilities to help Greava keep the evil out. I wasn't a very high rank, but still an important part of the army. Before the Army started to change as well. Before they turned evil themselves.
The evil still seemed to reach the city, however.
There had been a small breach late one night and a few of my comrads and I went to resolve the issue. Only a few of us survived, but it pushed them back out of the city. That was the night I was changed. Though, I didn't like to think about it.
I was a traveler now; old and tired. Old for my kind, anway. I didn't look a day over 27. That was one of the perks of vampirism. Endless beauty. Though no one ever stopped looking at me and it bothered me some. The whispers that followed you everywhere you went. You couldn't stay in one place too long, either. Couldn't risk familiarity past a half generation. Too many questions, too many questions.
It was here that I liked to spend my time now. In the pub near the center of the city. I enjoyed watching the travelers enter and speak to each other. I listened to their thoughts.
This man was different however. He didn't seem to have thoughts. He just seemed to exist. I begged to know what he was; what had happened to him.
I had seen him walk by and had assumed my natural instinct to eavesdrop on his thoughts. Yet there was nothing. I quickly caught him by the arm and glared into his eyes.
"Who are you?" I asked, full of menace. I waited for a response.
Oasis Writer 04-15-2008, 03:26 PM It took me a minute to realize what this person had said to me. She was wearing a black cloak and was only a few inches shorter than me, but instantly, my stomach turned. She was beautiful, but too beautiful. My free arm floated to my pocket, my hand gripping the pendent I had in there.
“I’m sorry, milady,” I started, trying to look away. “You must have me mistaken for another.”
Her grip was immensely tight around my arm, but I held strong. I wasn’t weak, but something about her was unnatural. An abundant amount of strength didn’t fall upon many of the female kind. Her complexion and anger in her eyes gave me a feeling she had been from the North, though I couldn’t be certain. Her eyes were a radiant violet.
I pulled my arm, her iron grip releasing me finally. I could see the words forming in her mouth, but I heard nothing. I double-took the area around me and moved towards the counter without a second glance back. I would have to admit, I was always a shy one. I grabbed my arm and rubbed it slightly as I made my way, though I could still feel her stare burning through the back of my skull.
I sat down and looked at Jennifer. Her eyes were floating quickly around the room. Her anxiety was unwelcoming.
“What is it?” I asked, already knowing the answer somewhere deep in my mind.
“Too much tourism for this time of year.”
I agreed. There was no way this many people could be coming to Greava on holiday. With the snow as bad as it had been lately, there would be no benefit.
“Who was that girl you were talking to?” she asked as I stared down the counter at numerous glasses full of alcoholic drinks.
“I don’t know.” I admitted, “she’s got an fanciful grip however.”
“She seems familiar. She come in with the wagons or reside here?”
I shook my head. For some reason, I could feel two people’s presence that burdened my thoughts. The mysterious girl and the thought of one more person as the door swung open and then entering, a line of tourists. I stood slowly, hearing a sound that stung my heart and mind, and yet, I knew nothing of this sound before.
I turned to the door.

---------

Sare stood barefoot on the street, shivering. It was cold in Geava, even more than back in the valley. Then again, the world was always cold to strangers. All the world except for the Family. And the Family's kindness may have been its undoing.
The closeness of the city fascinated her. It was nothing like far-out space and privacy of the Valley. Here the people's houses were crushed together and people scurried about like ants from a desecrated anthill. Sare could smell the frenzy, the subtle panic beneath this divided unity.
She started to peoplewatch, noting the travelers who stopped in a nearby pub. One person, or rather two, in particular caught her interest. One, a woman with strange purple eyes, stood close to a tall man with the whitest hair Sare had ever seen. They spoke briefly inside the pub, then the woman disappeared into the crowd and the man went to a table in the back.
Sare left her wagon and stepped inside the pub. She searched out the pale-haired man, but just as she started to tug at his arm, she heard a sound. A hateful sound. A sound that made the hairs on her arms and neck stand on end. And it scared her.
She grabbed the pale-haired man's wrist and looked up at him, wide-eyed.
"What was that?"
Oasis Writer 04-16-2008, 07:23 PM I looked away from the door to see a child holding my wrist. I grimaced and looked back at the door, just to turn to the child again. I wasn't used to seeing children. Something was going on outside and was moving towards us, and I had no thought to help protect a child. I sighed, biting my lower lip before bending toward the child.
"Nothing, lass, now let us be on our way. Please, hurry. We mustn't be here much longer."
I stood up full height and pulled the child by the arm away from the pub; the girl in black still staring at me with bright violet eyes. I sent no thought her way and moved on towards the back entrance of the pub to rid myself and the child of the oncoming terror.
Terra Valentine 04-17-2008, 01:39 PM I let the man pull himself away from me, but my curiosity lingered on his back. Who was this stranger whose thoughts I could not read? I had to know, but as I began to make my way back to him a child grabbed his wrist in terrible fright. I stopped. No use in endangering a child. I turned and left the pub.
I would be back.
I headed down the road a few odd miles until I reached what looked like desolate and deserted cottage. Here I would wait until I could collect my thoughts and wait for the return of the man at the pub.
I hoped that he wouldn't leave too soon.
I turned the handle and stepped inside to met a pair of beautiful eyes that I had not been expecting. I smiled.
Oasis Writer 04-18-2008, 11:03 AM I picked the child up as I exited the bar. I wouldn't drag a child through the snow without shoes on. I looked left towards the street to see many people walking around, more carrying swords than I would like. No one was fighting, but the extra noise was discomforting. Something on the inside told me to leave. I looked at the child but she was burying her face into my chest.
“Where do you reside, dear?”
There was no answer. It was rather cold, so I let it be. I looked towards the cottages that were around. I knew most of all the regulars and where they lived, so she must be an outskirts resident. I walked around the back of the pub and made my towards some of the cottages that were a few miles out. She was starting to shiver, so I pulled my jacket over her.
“Do you think a bigger storm is coming?” I asked her, thinking she wouldn't understand what I was thinking without further explanation. “Hmm....I don't know. Tourists with weapons always made me uncomfortable.”
I looked towards a few cottages that were further out. I could see a group of people heading towards a single cottage, being lead by a figure I couldn't see that well. They all carried swords. The group stopped before the cottage while the leader went to the door.
The child whimpered against me. I looked down, then turned from the scene. Search parties always turned me away. I lifted my foot and made haste for a different location.
Terra Valentine 04-18-2008, 11:50 AM My friend from many years ago looked me deep in the eyes. I couldn't help but smile. I had missed them terribly. They had been one of the few who had helped me thorugh my transformation. The smile they returned to me wasn't a friendly smile, however. It was a smug one, like I had just fallen into an epic plan.
I had.
At that moment a group of people carrying swords on their backs came through the door where I had been standing. I turned and saw that they were bloodsuckers like myself, but did not follow the same lifestyles as I. Their eyes were a filthy blood red and their fangs hung out over their bottom lips.
"You're just in time."
Oasis Writer 04-18-2008, 11:56 AM As I made my way back to the town, I noticed something I hadn’t before. Smoke in the sky. I couldn’t figure out what was going on, but I could smell disaster, see it, and as I got closer, I could hear it.
The roaring flames…
The screams…
I cradled the child tighter, looking at the disaster as I made my way around the town so I wouldn’t be seen.
“You’ll be safe at my home. Just hold on, dear.”
I stomped through the snow towards the inferno.
Terra Valentine 04-18-2008, 12:08 PM The vampires edged closer to me. I backed away slowly. They merely smiled showing off their perfectly white fangs.
A smell wafted through the air at this time. Whatever it was, the vampire clan crinkled their noses. Fury flew across their faces.
"We'll be back," the leader said an with that, they left the cottage.
I stepped outside after them, but they had already gone. I turned to look at the direction of the smell. It smelled faintly of burning flesh, but I couldn't be sure. I ran swiftly toward the flames in the distance.
And there standing, watching the burning pile of corpses were two familiar faces.
The stranger from the pub and the little girl lying unconscience in his arms.
Next to them, however, was a hooded figure. It was not familiar.
Milady 04-18-2008, 02:07 PM Sare clung tight to the man as he carried her out of the pub. She didn't know where he was taking her, but so long as it was far away from whatever had made that noise she was ameanable.
Out in the cold again, the man asked her, "Where do you reside, dear?"
Sare opened her mouth to answer, "Haven Valley", but suddenly remembered the Bad Ones that had taken the Valley away from her and the Family. She lived nowhere now. All her posessions were locked away in a little trunk on her parents' wagon.
Sare started. Her parents! They probably wouldn't be too worried to find her missing again--she wandered off often, even back at the valley--but what if whatever made the noise found them? She licked her lips to ask the man about it, but a scream broke through the silent snowfall and Sare choked on a sudden waft of smoke from a far-away fire.
The man said something, but Sare wasn't listening. She squirmed a little and shot her hand into her leggings, where she could feel her dagger laying against her leg where her mother had tied it. Reassured, she looked up toward the blaze they were so rapidly approaching and saw the dark lady from before. The lady's purple eyes were widened and focused on something over the man's shoulder. Sare turned to look--and screamed.
There, hooded in a black shroud, was a Bad One.
Oasis Writer 04-18-2008, 10:15 PM As we neared Greava, the smell of burning flesh became stronger. I pressed closer on the child, whom had begun mumbling gently to herself, too gently for me to hear. She was shifting a lot more, but I held her tightly to make sure she was warm. I stopped, the air changing around me, the sounds changing beside me.
I stood there in silence for several moments. I could feel stares, and I could feel a presence, but I wasn’t sure if I should rely on them. I could not fight in the condition I was. I wouldn’t put this child in danger. The flames grew closer to the furthest ends of Greava. If they continued, I was going to have to run. I could not let them get to my home until I had grabbed it.
My sword was still in its place, but I could not grab it if I was going to fight anything that was attacking. With the world at war, I was sure this was done by Malnarcosus but I would have no evidence, nor would it matter. Haven Valley was destroyed before by the elemenetals of Leemaxus and Jevoo years before. Greava was a little price to pay in Malnarcosus’ eyes.
Finally, I grew the strength to ask.
“Do you have a name?”
I stared at the flames as I heard a silent laugh. I could not tell if it was a male or female, but I could tell it was one I had heard before, in a life I could no longer remember. I needed to know. I pulled the child closer.
“Do you have a name?”
Milady 04-19-2008, 04:22 PM Of course it didn't have a name, Sare thought. Shouldn't he know that? But he hadn't been in the valley, hadn't been there to see the Bad Ones creep in, one by one. He hadn't seen the stranger the Family had picked up from the desert summon them to him. He hadn't seen the--
But he had. Here was the corpse fire to prove it. The bad things that had happened in the valley and had driven the Family to Greava were happening here now. They might have happened in other places, to other people. But this time, even though she hadn't been able to do anything about them before, she was not going to stand for it now. Sare grasped her dagger and squirmed so that she could see the figure clearly--or as clearly as possible.
It didn't look solid, but she could always hope. She slid out of the man's grip. Catching her balance, she held her blade aloft. And charged.
Something grabbed her.

------------------------------
My mind told me to just stay in the alley and everything would work out, but my instincts told me that I was in danger. Aquarius stood on my shoulder as I crept to the enterence, knife held up and ready.
"We should get out of here." hewhispered
chad.sims2 04-20-2008, 08:35 AM "Not until I see whats going on" I replied to Aquarius. Slowly I poked my head out, knife in front as if it where a shield. I saw just outside the gate, a young girl, a man and a cloaked figure that sent a shiver down my spine.
"Ok, you looked lets go." Aquarius, said I could feel him tense as he poked his head out with me.
"No." I said firmly and more than a little loud. For an moment I felt the figure notice me before returning to it's curent prey, or thats how it felt to me.
"It's to late now." Aquarius, said stating what I thought. I was already found and I would not die running, I would give it my all to take it with me. I stepped out so I was in full view, held my knife up in shaking hands, and put on my ferociousest scowl. Again it only glanced and I swore I felt amusement coming from it.
Oasis Writer 04-20-2008, 05:14 PM Too many things were happening at once. The girl had slipped from my grasp and ran towards the cloaked figure and was carrying a dagger, a boy had appeared from the walled gates with a dagger as well, I could hear footsteps behind me, and I could see the figure moving faster than most could react. It finally turned into a test of my agility. With my left hand reaching for my sword, I threw my right hand around the child’s arm and tugged her back violently, throwing her behind me into the snow several feet back.
I swung the sword at the figure that was now moving quickly to where the child had been. I wasn’t fast enough.
I barely got my sword up to block myself when a force through me back. After sliding through the snow, still standing, I looked in front of me. I was lucky; the sword blocked me but the attacks were still coming. I swung hard and through at the figure, but it swooped around my blade flawlessly. The ultimate defense, in my opinion:
No body.
I had seen something like this before, but it still threw me aback. It wasn’t possible, in my mind. I swung several more times, warding it off momentarily so I could focus on the child behind me, and the child by the gate, who was now coming towards us.
From my right, the girl from the pub was running extremely fast towards me. It took me a second to remember what I was doing. The speed of everything around me was a distraction. The girl ran for the figure again, this time slipping by me. I couldn’t let anything happen to her. I felt obligated. I moved after her before seeing something unbelievable happen.
The lady from the pub pounced upon the clocked shadow from several yards away, giving me time to grab the child by the arm once more; this time pulling her up into my arms again and looking at the site. The woman tore apart the clock viciously, but nothing seemed to be happening. Maybe something was, but I didn’t want to figure it out. I holstered my sword and ran for the town. Fire seemed more comforting than this.
As I ran towards the town, the boy was a lot closer. He was whispering something to himself, and had stopped running. He wasn’t that big, but he had something to him that felt like strength. Right now, I was clearing him by three feet and we needed to run, somewhere. I sighed, picked him up in my free arm and moved. I don’t think he’d mind getting away faster.
I moved as quickly as I could towards the gate when something new appeared. Shadowed figures were floating atop the buildings, and down the street. Before, I was moving as fast as I could, but now, I felt like I was the slowest things in the world. I looked at the children in my arms and sighed.
“You’ll be safe, guys, I promise.”
The boy whispered something, and I could have sworn I heard a third voice, but I didn’t pay much attention. The girl did say something, but I couldn’t hear her. The boy responded. I felt out of the loop, but it was fine. The figures had noticed me and were starting to float towards me.
“You’re going to have to run soon, guys, okay?” I said to them. I felt bad letting them run free by themselves but I was going to have to defend them.
I set both of them down, and took a step past them so they were behind me. I pulled out my sword and held it in the best position I could. I looked behind me to see the girl from the bar making her way towards me. A little back up, I guess. I looked at the gate once again and got ready for the attack.
chad.sims2 04-20-2008, 05:39 PM Things happened to, fast. The cloaked thing lounged at the man, who through some magic managed to fight back against the blurred movements.
I had hardly noticed the girl getting back up when a strange woman subdued the cloaked thing, and t he man was headed my way fast.
"What now?" I asked Aquarious but never got an anwser. The next thing I knew it felt like I was ripped into the air by an eagle. As surprised as I was to carried the stop was scary, it meant something was in the way.
I heard the mans attempt to console but was more worried about Aquarious. "Are you ok?" Iasked him as i looked at the new holes in my clothes.
"Better than him." He said motioning to the new cloaked things approaching.
"Great saved me from the pot, and ran into the fire." I said as I look thoughtfully at a statue of some long dead hero.
Milady 04-20-2008, 06:27 PM It didn't work. It didn't work. Sare hung miserably in the man's arms, still clutching the dagger. She hardly noticed when the man stooped to scoop up some boy.
The boy whispered something.
"What?" Sare said, but the boy looked at her sharply, as if he wasn't talking to her. She watched the strange boy another moment and caught a glimpse of a blue serpentine creature poking its nose out of his clothes. It was talking. Seeing her interest, the boy said something in explanation, but Sare didn't notice because the man stopped.
"You're going to have to run away soon guys, okay?" the man said and deposited them both--or, rather, all three of them--on the ground. He held his sword aloft and strode away from them.
Sare noticed the man had stopped refering to her as "Lass" or "Dear". He sounded scared. She would have to help him, then. He had, after all, saved her from the Noise at the pub and from the Bad One back by the fire. She looked for help from the boy, but he was talking to the snakey thing again and looking at some statue. Very well, then. She tightened her grip on her dagger again and stumbled after the man.
They both stopped up ahead. The other Bad Ones that flitted atop the buildings hadn't noticed them yet; they seemed to be focusing apon the Dark Lady and the first Bad One. It looked like the Bad One was winning, and then suddenly it jerked back as if injured. Enraged, the shadowy figures swooped down on the pair from above. The air was so thick with them, it could be cut with a knife. Hopefully. Moving a safe distance away from the boy or the man, Sare slashed at them wildly. She wished for a moment that she had brought her sling with her, but soon she was whirled into a maelstrom of slashing and dodging, sometimes making contact but more often passing through.
Sounds of struggle came from behind her. The others must be fighting, too.
chad.sims2 04-20-2008, 06:49 PM I felt bad for a second before, returning my attention back to the statue. A man in full plate, with a sword on his shoulder. "I hope this works." I said softly and took off at a fast walk towards the statue.
As i reached it I heard a sound and started to glance back when Aquarious chimed in "Run for it." I didn't question him, I just ran. Hand out stretched I forsed the magic though me in to that hand. The sound of some ghastly creature moments behind me.
I felt stone, and the magic now being sucked out of me. My body tenced I looked back, the blade was desending, my death near, and the sound of metal on metal rang, as the flow of magic stopped.
"What a low beast to pick on a child." A deep, strong voice spoke. I recognised the cold steel that my hand now touched, and smiled.
The mighty hero threw aside the things blade and with deadly beauty sank his broad sword into the creature. At least I thought he had but it appeared unphased.
What followed was to fast for me to keep up with.
chad.sims2 04-20-2008, 06:57 PM The hero stumbled for a second, recovered his balance and decapitated the creature. "Damned beast knows how to fight." he swore and turned his attention to the girl. He ran at the distracted creature andcut it down where the spine should have been if it was human.
"We should go." Aquarious said but I just groaned as I stood up that if the girl could fight so could I. "Fight you can bearly stand." he retorted ,and he was right.
Oasis Writer 04-20-2008, 07:34 PM My swings were very weak, and I was starting to lose sight of what was really going on. The girl was trying to fight, and the boy had brought to life a stone of a guy I had never seen before. It didn’t bother me much because he was fighting for us, but it caused confusion on the battlefield that I was not expecting.
The lady from the pub had gotten here and was making her fight against the cloaked figures, and winning, to what it seemed.
I, unfortunately, was lost. It was the darkest part of the night, and the area was only lightened by the flames in Greava. I sighed as I swung once again, hoping to catch something.
The light from the sky started to rise moments later. It wasn’t instantaneous, but the sun rise was breaking the horizon, and the night turned to morning. I looked up at the sunrise for a moment, before looking back for an enemy.
An enemy that wasn’t apparent anymore?
I lowered my sword, looking left and right but saw nothing. The town was still in flames, but the figures had disappeared.
“What the…” I whispered to myself. The girl reached my side, and besides her was the boy and a blue dragon on his shoulder. I jumped at the sight and swung my fist at the small dragon, but the boy jumped away and protected it. I subsided and left him be.
Behind me, the girl from the pub was walking towards me, and the person that had helped us turned back to stone. It confused me, but most magic did. Being a non-user, I wouldn’t know much about it.
I looked down at the children besides me and sighed. Another crazy day in Greava.
Oasis Writer 04-20-2008, 09:36 PM The man looked down at me as if he was better than me, I hadn't seen him do much back their. Plus attacking Aquarious, the man was inferiating.
"Sorry for swinging at the dragon. I thought he was attacking. My apologizes. Is he your guardian or something, son?" SON! "I thought to myself angrily.
"No actually, he's my companion." I said as adultly as I could, but I could, feel the scowl on my face.
"Aw, I see. So, where are you from?"
"Around." I said quietly embarrassed to not know myself.
"Hmm...well, you haven't said your name yet, lad, or your dragon's name, for that matter. Mind?"
"Neather have you." i pointed out before Aquarious chimed in.
"I'm Aquarious and he's Drake." With a voice just slightly to happy.
"Hmm" He said with a confident smile before turning his attention to the girl. "And you, dear? What's your name?"
I was to tired to argue so i just took a seat on the ground and looked up at the hero statue's chest which was sliced open. "To bad, I liked him." Aquarious said softly.
Oasis Writer 04-20-2008, 09:50 PM I begin to ask the girl my first question, but something distracts me. I look towards the town, remembering I had a mission. I needed it from my house. The fire was spreading fast. It pulled my attention too well, because the children didn't matter in my mind. It was all I had left of my past. I looked at the children and the dragon.
"I'll be back. Be safe."
I ran off as quickly as I could towards the flames. I needed it too badly. Too many lines in my head repeated themselves as I thought about the item. It reminded me of an angel from the underworld, or a devil from paradise. It was all I had left and it owned me.
I was midway through Greava when I heard laughter. I slowed down, looking around when I noticed someone near a building I was passing. Whomever it was, they were leaning against it, looking down towards the snow.
I hadn't the time for this.

My hands shook as I walked through the ruined streets of Greava. The burnt smell was lessened from the cool fresh air. I wrung my hands to fight back the tears. He had vanished just after the commotion, no where to be seen. Thomas, her one and only family member. She leaned against the side of a nearby building, and could feel the grief building up in her throat. She took deep breaths trying to sedate her sadness. Unfortunately, she failed and let out an agonized cry. She quickly covered it, coaxing out laughter.
She looked up, and saw a young man, very much taller then her with white hair just feet from her. She could feel her face turn red in embarrassment.
“Heh.” She said, pawing at the snow with her foot, “You know how it is. When you think of something funny.”
Oasis Writer 04-20-2008, 10:50 PM The person was in orange, a fanciful color to be in, but not necessarily the smartest to dress if trying to stay hidden. I didn't care in any which case. Her words were kind, very soft spoken.
“Heh.” She said, pawing at the snow with her foot, “You know how it is. When you think of something funny.”
I stopped, stared, and responded. "What's funny?"
She turned red at the check and looked away, quickly making her way down the street where I had been going. Was she leading me to my own house? I certainly hoped not. I couldn't help but think this was a game to her, but in any which case, I had to beat her there. For some reason, I felt a smile across my face, even though the scenery didn't fit the mood. Flames still covered the town, and bodies laid everywhere.
And I was smiling; racing a girl to my house.
In any which case, it made me laugh on the inside. I straighten my face and moved quicker than I had before. She had a head start.
chad.sims2 04-20-2008, 11:04 PM I sat there in the middle of the road just feeling that I had just been left behind so i wouldn't get into trouble.
Just me and that scary girl. I thought as i looked up at her and found my eyes lingering. "Hey it's your first time alone with a girl isn't it." Aquarius said into my ear and I felt my self blush as I looked down.
"Shut up." I said weakly.
"Isn't that sweet." he teased softly. "You should at least introduce your self." I ignored him and quickly pulled out a small wooden block to widle away at, and to keep my eyes on something.
I could feel my face turn tomato red, and I quickly looked the other way, and trudged forward. I went at a quick pace, wanting to get past the man as quickly as possible. I slowed my breathing, and put my mind on other things. I had to find Thomas, if he was alive that was. I dug my nails into my arm. No. He was alive. He had to be.
I took a quick look behind, and saw the man following me. I quickly flung my neck forward, acting as if I had seen nothing. He didn’t look scary, just normal. But with all that had happened, who knew. I quickened my pace into a slow run, slowly sticking my hand into my cloak. My hand wrapped itself around my dagger, and I stopped suddenly. My hand shook, and I turned around.
“Why..” I started, only to have him race right past me, towards the homes not far from us.
Oasis Writer 04-20-2008, 11:23 PM I passed her! I was going to make it. I laughed on the inside, knowing that I was going to get there first. I hadn't caught it instantly when it happened, but the words finally caught up. She said why. I looked back, noticing she was on her knees. Had I accidently hit her? No...I hadn't. It would have jarred my sprint.
What happened?
I slowed down, looking back upon her and then slowly made my way back. What was I going to say? Sorry I chased after you. It wasn't personal, I just had to beat you? No, that was stupid, and rude. It sounded like she was crying. I felt pitiful. Had I been the reason?
I walked up behind her, placed my hand on her shoulder and bent beside her.
"Are you okay, milady?"
As he passed me, I could feel all control of my emotions leave me. The tears flew down my face like a violent downpour. I fell to my knees, feeling weak from the sudden emotion. I lost grip of my dagger and it fell into the snow with a thud.
My hand came upon the trinket on my wrist. The last, and only thing that I had gotten from my parents, besides the wings.
Suddenly, I heard the man say “Are you okay, milady?”
I quickly got up from my knees, and grabbed the edge of my cloak wiping the tears from my face. I took a deep breath, and turned around to face him.
“Yes, of course.” I said, with a smile, “Just dropped… something.”
I looked down, and grabbed my dagger from the snow. I tugged on my cloak, as I attempted to put the dagger back in it’s place. I gave a startled yell as I managed to tug too hard, and my cloak glided down my back and onto the snow. My wings stretched out, barely missing the man’s head.
"I'm so sorry!" I blurted out, blushing once more.

Oasis Writer 04-20-2008, 11:49 PM It took more agility than I was prepared for to dodge white wings coming from under me. I looked at the magnificent size of them. My eyes were a little wide, and for her to have to look into them, was probably making her feel bad. I straightened my gaze and smiled.
"It's okay," I reassured her. "They're gorgeous."
She blushed.
"So, what were you running for?" I asked innocently, gesturing her towards my home. I hadn't forgotten my mission.
She looked like she was thinking her answer over. I let her be for the moment. I looked up towards my home, which the fire hadn't reached yet. I sighed, before looking a little further into what I was seeing.
My lantern was lit.
I narrowed my eyes. That's not how I left it.
I looked at the girl beside me and, again, felt terrible for abandoning yet another person.
"Something is terribly wrong." I started, "I'm going to have to move on. If you want to follow, you'll need to keep up, but please be safe. Don't get in the way if blades swing. I don't want you getting hurt."
She started to speak, making me wait just a moment longer. I looked at my house as her words entered my ears.
My heart sunk as I saw how wide his eyes became. Another person to be afraid of me.
"It's okay," I reassured her. "They're gorgeous."
I blushed, but smiled.
I quickly bent over, grabbing hold of my cloak and dagger. I gently managed the dagger in it’s place on my belt, and placed the cloak in my satchel.
"Something is terribly wrong." He said, "I'm going to have to move on. If you want to follow, you'll need to keep up, but please be safe. Don't get in the way if blades swing. I don't want you getting hurt."
I paused, looking at the urgency in his voice.
“I’ll follow.” I answered, pulling my bow from it’s resting place on my shoulder, “I’ll be right behind you.”
Oasis Writer 04-21-2008, 09:10 AM I smiled, but dropped it quickly to look at my house. If it was still in there, I would even resort to killing them if I had to. It was sad, but I couldn’t lose the only thing I had left in my past. I pulled out my sword, and started trudging towards my house, staying closer to the trees as I could. Behind me, the woman followed closely, her arrow at the ready. I felt silly sneaking up on my own home.
The light went out suddenly, though the lantern was lit from the inside of the house. Someone had blown it out.
I stopped, looked back at her, and then back at my house.
“How accurate a shot are you?”
She didn’t answer, and I didn’t look back to see why.
“Can you do me a favor? Shoot a few at the windows.”
Oasis Writer 04-21-2008, 09:34 AM Arrows flew across the sky towards my house. I felt dirty, but I couldn't allow it. My window's shattered. She was a very good shot. I told her to continue shooting through the windows as I started to move towards my house again.
Behind my house, several yards away, were more houses that were burning and colapsing. I could see people everywhere, some looking like Greavans, and others looking like the Dark Ones. They were fighting in the shadows.
I finally reached the front of my house, leaning against the wall and waited. A few more arrows flew by my head into the window. I could hear the arrows stabbing through the wood, some breaking vases that I had, and some hitting random objects I had.
I sighed. I was going to have to enter sooner or later and confront this.
Leaka 04-21-2008, 09:43 AM The smell of blood was long gone by now. The trees gave a sad cry and I touched them with my smooth hands trying to comfort them, but then again I couldn't do anything much for them because my people were dead. My people were the people of the forest. They no longer existed. I remember when many soldiers burned down our forest and killed my people.
But I could feel it a powerful force watching me or watching the forest. Something that wanted to kill these already dead trees.
I could feel something bad in the air and I sense another being. Somewhere somewhere far away there was something going on.
I had to go or else. I had to find someone...a savior or two.
Leaka 04-21-2008, 10:17 AM I was walking on the winterous mud. I had to find the saviors soon or the forest would die. the tears of the forest were getting louder it entered my heart as if I were trees myself. I tried my best to avoid the villages or mass of people. I rather them not see me. A forest elf of the White Top Mountains. I was a wander and drifter.
The smell of magic was being picked up by the wind. Something was happening in the white winterland. I knew cause I could feel it. I wondered what was going on, but as I ahve told myself I stay from the masses they may try to kill me.
After all my family, firneds, and home were destroyed for another village. I didn't want to be killed. I needed to survive for my species.
Terra Valentine 04-21-2008, 12:09 PM The figure lunged for the man and the little girl. The man was not quick enough to move her out of the way.
But I was.
I leaped toward the figure causing his hold on the girl to weaken. I grabbed her and threw her aside. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the man take the girl and run in the direction of the burning city. He picked up what looked like a young boy on the way.
The figure had bright red, glowing eyes. And it was strong. Very strong. Like the strength of a vampire or worse. A werewolf. My mortal enemy had long since showed its face in these lands and I couldn't be sure if that's who it was, but the strength....
The strength...
We struggled, one overpowering the other again and again. I tore chunks from his flesh and, in return, I was scathed. After minutes of the battle I had it pinned and the cloak flew off of its face.
"You'll never win the war! We shall return!" His eyes had turned black and his teeth were dangerously sharp. His face was pale white, but his skin. It burned against my own. I scrunched my face as I ripped his head from his body and flung it across the area into the flames. Purple smoke billowed from the pile. He was a hybrid. Half werewolf (I knew from the rapid change in eye color), half vampire (the pruple smoke gave that away). I hoped...no, no, no, I prayed, something I never did, that he would be the only one. He was a hybrid and I was lucky to have beaten him. Next time, if there was a next time, that may not be the case.
I stood. I knew this wasn't over, but what had he been talking about? We will never win the war? What war? And they would return. Who were they?
I looked up at the buildings and saw more figures bounding from rooftop to rooftop. Why did I have to be the one with the superhuman strength? I leaped to the nearest rooftop and began to sprint to the figures. They were fast, too. One by one they were beheaded, torn to pieces, and burned. Purple smoke filled the city.
Down below the rooftop I was on, I saw the man below me another figure in front of him. I crouched as the figure's sword swung upwards in a dramatic motion. Human's reactions were so slow. I lept and fell upon the figure. The man's eyes were wide and he quickly left.
The figure's head hung heavily in my bloody hand.
The man had run into a beautiful woman, angelic almost. With wings as white as snow. She was clothed in all orange. A little strange for my taste, but all the same...
The man was beaming at her and looks of curiosity and attraction were being exchanged. I felt a pang of jealousy in me. Strange. He was human.
They left in the direction of more burning houses. I beat them there. I entered the house that I assumed they were running to. It was the last one on the street. I went inside and turned on the lantern. Cozy. I looked around the house, examining things as I went. Studying. I went upstairs. Suddenly, I heard the door open and two people come rushing inside. The man said something that I couldn't hear, but the woman agreed to something and I heard arrows being shot through glass. Windows. I lept out of the second story window and took off. It wasn't 100 yards from the house when I ran into them.
The Dark Ones. Thousands of them. Thousands of glowing, red eyes with sharp fangs and pale skin.
Thousands upon thousands... of hybrids. The man and the angelic woamn walked up next to me at that moment. They both watched the massive army with wary eyes.
I felt my jaw drop and a bloody tear came to my eye.
Oasis Writer 04-21-2008, 01:08 PM I pushed the door open and entered. The arrows stopped as I entered, sword aloft. It felt natural to be infiltrating, though it felt awkward to be doing it in my own home. Nothing seemed out of place, excluding the arrow damages. I made my way up the stairs, towards my room. I knew where I had left it. I peaked over corners and looked for anything that would be suspicious. As I entered my room, I noticed nothing was touched, or so I thought.
I reached into my pillow case and pulled out a pendent. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a second pendent.
Two pendents: two of the things I had left from my past.
I placed both of them in my pocket and moved to my bookshelf. There was a small palm sized book on the shelf with white bindings. I grabbed it and opened. A small picture of a woman with light hair was smiling. It was black and white, but it was the third thing I had left. I shut the book and looked at it for a moment.
Laments of a Rhapsodist
My favorite play, though I had no memory of why.
I pocketed it and moved out of my room, stopping at the window that was facing north. My eyes widened as I then started moving down stairs at great speed.
Dark ones. Thousands of them.
There were people fighting them and I needed to help. I got outside and waved for the girl with the bow to come towards me. I turned to the side of the house and ran around, straight for the dark ones. I came up to the girl from the pub, who was completely in awestruck. I gripped my sword and looked at them, the angel girl grabbing arrows for her bow.
If it was a fight they wanted, it's a fight they were going to get.
Terra Valentine 04-21-2008, 01:17 PM It was the three of us, virtually having a staring contest with the thousands of Dark Ones. They were still. We were still.
I wiped away the tear forcefully and licked the blood off of my hand. It tasted sweet, yet bitter. I hadn't had human blood in hundreds of years. My own blood didn't satisfy me, but I wasn't going to turn on the man and woman standing beside me. I had more discipline than that.
Many emotions went through my head. Fear. Anger. Sadness. Worry. How the HELL were we going to defeat these thousands of dangerous creatures? I was the only immortal on our side (I assumed we were on the same side). Perhaps the angelic woman had some sort of holy power, but I couldn't be sure. And the man? He was just a man. What could an immortal do?
Besides bring down a creature only seen in nightmares.
I blushed at the thought.
Questions also floated through my mind. The one burning in the back of my mind was picking a hole in my brain ever since I had seen the endless fires and the vampire in the "abandoned" cottage.
Why were vampires, hybrids, monsters of myth suddenly showing themselves, exposing themselves? I didn't make sense... Unless....
They were planning to take over.
They were planning a worldwide massacre.
I followed him a few steps behind as we came up a home.
“How accurate a shot are you?” he asked.
I grinned, and pulled an arrow from my shoulder carrier. I put the arrow in it’s place, and pulled back on the string as tightly as I could.
“Can you do me a favor? Shoot a few at the windows.” He said.
I looked at the window, and aimed. The arrow shot out at mach speed, shattering the window. I quickly grabbed another arrow and continued to shoot through the windows of the home. I could hear the sound of splintering wood, and of shattering nic-nacs from inside the home.
I reached for one last arrow, as the man walked inside. I quickly put it away, placing my bow back onto my shoulder. I followed him into his home, picking up my arrows that laid around the house. I smiled to myself, only one broken arrow. I placed the unbroken arrows back in the carrier, and put the broken one in my satchel, I would fix it later. I walked from the house, as the man motioned for me to follow him to the north of the house.
I first took note of a hooded woman, but my eyes turned wide as I saw thousands of dark figures staring at us. I stood next to the white-haired man, and quickly grabbed my bow, and placed one of the arrows in place, pulling back the sting tightly. My hand shook, as I stared blankly at the figures ahead of us. I had never been a fighter, but I knew I had to help. I took in a deep breath of air, and stood my ground.
Oasis Writer 04-21-2008, 01:29 PM Laments of a Rhapsodist spoke of lies and war, love and lose, and every other cliché thing in the book. I could only base my thoughts right now on what I had once read.
The figures started moving around a Nephilm girl in the distance. Felt like an ally. I looked at the two besides me and was about to speak when I noticed they had seen the girl as well. I looked back to make sure she was still okay.
We were wasting time standing still, but we couldn't do much right now. I started taking my first steps towards them when the girl from the pub grabbed my arm. Again, the strength that I could not understand. She shook her head.
I was about to detest when she pointed at a path that would lead us to the Nephilm girl and around the dark ones path just a little bit better. It was still suicidal, but standing still until they all noticed us completely was paving a deadlier path.
I nodded, and the three of us made our way northeast around the army of dark ones, the best we could, to come in contact with the Nephilm girl.
Leaka 04-21-2008, 02:02 PM I could feel it coming closer. The feeling of the abyss and darkness. The forest cried a deep cry as ancient wood started to bend from the darkness. I saw in the corner of my eyes some Dark Ones.
I sighed calmly and closed my eyes. I heard the whispers of the forest this was their end if a fight ensued here.
The forest would be destroyed. The Dark Ones seemed to have a location talking in their langauge of dark hearts. I decided to follow them, but in the cover of the green forest. I snuck slowly watching them carefully. I found the forest began to get smaller and turned into a small willowed garden. A garden of a vampire I suppose. A house, and some fighters entranced me. I wondered, but then again my duty was to protect the forest.
But they began yo head northeast. Were they going to see the Nephilim one. He wondered so he began to stay close to the green calmy and swiftly.
he wanted to see what was going on without getting invovled.
Milady 04-21-2008, 02:12 PM Things were happening so swiftly. The Bad Ones were here, then they weren't. The man was here, then he vanished. The boy was still here, though, talking to that snakey thing. It whispered something in his ear. He blushed and snapped something back, then found a block of wood and began to carve it.
Sare wondered briefly whether he would bring his new creation to life, as he had the stone statue. The granite form was dead now. And where was the man, anyway? Sare was finding it hard to keep everyone straight--she had met many people in so short a time and had only learned one--two of their names. Funny, they probably were all having the same problem.
On a whim, she staggered over to the hunched form of the boy--Drake?--and grabbed his arm, interrupting his whittling. He looked up at her; she shook his hand quickly and muttered, "Hi, I'm Sare. Bye," and scuttled away.
Out in the open, she looked for the man. In the shadows across the street from her, a new stranger appeared. It looked like another woman, different from the first but powerful in that supernatural way. Nephilim, Sare thought, though she had never heard the word before and had no clue what it meant. The Nephilim didn't give her a feel of "bad", but it was best to be wary.
Sare padded up the street a little way only to come face-to-face with the Man and yet another new stranger. Wary, she clutched at her dagger, until the new woman turned around and displayed, to Sare's surprise, a pair of magnificent wings.
Sare had heard of angels. She decided to trust this one.
The man had turned to walk straight into the maw of the massing Bad Ones. And though he could probably take care of himself, Sare still felt obligated to pay him back for the trillions of times he had saved her life in the past few hours. She scampered up beside his elbow and grabbed his arm, pointing back the way she had come and to the Nephilim. It was all clear there.
The Angel looked at Sare with interest. The man nodded. The three of them picked their way back up the path to the street corner where Sare had first sighted the Nephilim.
Everyone looked at each other, and at the still-growing horde of Bad Ones.
Tension was thick.
I lowered my bow, slowly releasing my hold on the string. I let the arrow lay limply in its position, ready for whatever was going to happen. I looked over as a little girl grabbed onto the white-haired man, and pointed in the direction of a silver-eyed woman. The group walked towards the woman, but my eyes were on the little girl. I had always loved kids, since I had been born with that strong maternal instincts. I wanted nothing more then to hold the child and keep her warm and safe. Suddenly, I heard the sound of quick footsteps. I turned around, and a little boy with a small dragon on his shoulder came running up to the girl. I smiled, more children. I quickly moved my gaze back to the horde in front of me.
I again pulled the string on the bow back, and waited. They had to make the first move.
Oasis Writer 04-21-2008, 03:31 PM I looked down at the girl as we all made our way to the path. I picked her up and put her on my shoulders. I didn’t see a reason for her to freeze her feet off. I looked up at her and smiled. It was time to get to know everyone. It wasn’t necessarily the best environment, but if we were going to die, I felt better dieing by friends than strangers.
“My name is Evan Amaryllis Del Blaine.” I said aloud, keeping my sights on the girl from the pub that lead the way.
She, surprisingly, was the first to reply. “Naomi.” Simple, and yet, very effective.
From my shoulders, the girl said, “Sare.”
From behind me, I heard a very familiar dragon, considering it was the first dragon I had met. "I'm Aquarious and he's Drake." I looked back to see Drake and his little pal.
The angel spoke last. “Adelaide Bequem.”
I smiled. That was everyone, I guessed.
“Okay, Naomi. Lead the way.”
chad.sims2 04-21-2008, 03:36 PM "Hey. Hold on." I called out to the Sare, pocketing the now oddly shaped piece of wood. As I walked swiftly after her.
I stopped suddenly as I noticed an angel looking in our direction before returning her attention back on an army of thoughs creatures. "What's going on here?" Sare stood by a new guy, and I just slowly pulled my small knife out.
"I hope you ain't asking me?" Aquarius replied to my undirected question. He move higher on to my sholder and snapped his razor sharp teeth togeath lightly. "I think we're in over our heads." He added, as always stating the obvious.
Leaka 04-21-2008, 03:57 PM I wanted to get a closer look from the non green plants. I began to step out, but still stay hidden. A snap of a twig, how could I be so careless? Then I fell over. I only hoped to god the masses didn't see me watching them. Or even see me. Elves were known in these times as spies and thieves.
But that wasn't I. I was no spy and I was no thief. I was just an elf trying to protect a forest. I didn't want my forest to go away. I was connected to them like I was connected to my home that was destroyed.
i was fairly shy since I only talk to wood and green leaves. I quickly moved back into the bushes, hopefully they hadn't seen me.
I stepped back from the group. I placed my bow back onto my shoulder and put the arrow back in it’s carrier. I stretched out my wings, and began to flap them. I quickly took flight, and began circling around the general area. I playfully waved to the children, giving them the most pleasant smile I could make out. They smiled back.
I struggled to keep altitude with the lack thermals. I flew over the woods, and gasped as I saw a quick movement and a flash of white in the plant-life near the group. I quickly dove behind the area, pulling my dagger out. I landed with a gentle thud, right next to what appeared to be an elf clothed in white, with long platinum blond hair. He turned to look at me, a staff in his hand.
I flashed him my dagger, letting him know I wasn’t defenseless.
“Are you spying on us?” I said, eying(that doesn't look right, but that's what spell check said.) him.
Milady 04-21-2008, 06:15 PM Evan's introductions weren't exactly the formal ritual used by the Family, but they got the job done.
Still sitting on Evan's shoulders as the group slowly approached the mass of Bad Ones, Sare was admiring Adelaide's wings and trying her best to keep the name straight. Adelaide. Adelaide. It was a mouthful, but Sare reasoned that Angel names were supposed to be.
Suddenly, something crashed in the woods that crept slowly up on the city's walls. Evan flinched subtly under her, and Naomi cocked her head, listening. Adelaide took a more direct approach; she spread her wings and rocketed off into the air with a quick wave.
"Where is she going?" Sare asked, but nobody answered. "Look, she's seen something!" she said as Adelaide angled down and dove into the scrubby trees only a few yards away.
Leaning forward and almost overbalancing Evan, Sare could make out the Angel accosting what seemed to be yet another child. Looking closer, she could see that it wasn't a kid after all, but some sort of man. Sare was probably already as tall as him, whoever he may be. He had the longest hair, though, and it was white--whiter even than Evan's hair.
Sare didn't like the idea of more strangers, not when she was finally learning people's names. "Leave us alone!" She shouted at it, but was immediately silenced by many pairs of eyes--the scariest of them purple.
Up ahead, the masses rotated slowly in their direction. The storm hadn't yet broken, but it was coming fast.
chad.sims2 04-21-2008, 06:36 PM "Great." I said under my breath, as i took a deep breath trying to steady my shakeing legs. I had already used more magic than I should have today, but still i looked around quickly for anything that might help the situation. Nothing stood out as helpful. "I guess it's just me and you." I said to Aquarius.
"So somethings never change." He replied in a tense, deeper voice than normal.
I stepped up next to Evan and Sare, and forced my fear deep into the back of my mind. If you learned one thing from magic useage it was control. I widened my stance a bit, hopeing to give my self enough of a base that i wasn't just ran over, and after sapping the smallest amount of magic from my body Aquarius prepared to jump at what ever attacked us.
He was just like all my creations, I had to feed him magic to keep him in his form, or else he'd just be another piece of wood. Thus he stayed by my side, never straying from phisical contact for more than a moment.
Adelaide spread her beutiful wings and shot into the air, a strangly peaceful view in this war zone. I guess it could be called a candle in a dark room.
I bearly noticed Adelaide dive into the bushes and figured that an angel could easily take care of herself, no matter how fragile she looked. I needed to concentrate or i'd be dead the moment that these things charged, it was like watching the sun go down everynight knowing that i'd soon be greeted by the cold moon, and the silence and lonelyness that the silence brought with it, the cold pain in my core that reminded me that i lived on the street, that i was the only one of my kind around, and that death would come for me if my body ever lost to the cold. I would not lose! I could not lose! Then Sare shouted and the mob slowly shifted as if her voice had broken some unspoken spell that held them still.
"BRING IT ON!" I shouted in a challenge to the demon's without and with in.
Darkthought 04-21-2008, 11:50 PM A pounding of hooves could be heard through the still, silent masses of the creatures aptly named Dark Ones. Adrastus had encountered a few such creatures in his time and all of them were deadly. Strange, bodiless things they were. Like darkness made living. They were the fears of all the people of the world embodied. These monstrosities were creations of the darkness, always present in the world after great tragedies. It was no wonder that so many should appear in one place so soon after the Great War had ended. The mass seemed focused on one area, though Adrastus could not see on what it was they focused. Surely the other side of this mass held at least a clue to the object of his long searching since the end of the war a little more than two months ago.
Suddenly a cry rang out through the horde of Dark Ones. "Leave us alone!" As if the entire world had released the breath it had been holding, the Dark Ones shifted in their ranks and began to move inward, towards the source of the noise.
A pounding of hooves mixed in the air with wispy sound of the Dark Ones movements as Adrastus neared the rear flank of the horde. He dropped the reigns of the massive black warhorse on which he rode just long enough to reach his hands down and grasp the hilt of the weapons at his sides.
"Protect me, dear friends, that I might protect others in turn. Serve me that I might serve when it is asked of me. If it should be your will that I die today, then I am proud to die in the company of friends."
Perhaps it was just a trick of the light, but as Adrastus finished his mantra, the blades seemed to shimmer as if alive. The feathers of the silver-worked hawk on the hilt of the longsword and the dove on the hilt of the dagger seemed to be more pristine, seemed to bristle with anticipation if such a thing were possible.
The horde of Dark Ones rushed forward and Adrastus could hear cries of battle echoing from deep within the might host's folds. Adrastus' horse let out a mighty sound as it collided with the rear line of the enemy. The blades and metal spikes of the horse armor cut and pierced through the folds. Ahead, Adrastus could make out a forest and a small group of people doing their best to fend off the seemingly endless waves of Dark Ones.
Adrastus leaned down and whispered in the horse's ear, "Good luck...find me when it is done." With that, he leaped to his feet in the saddle, so that he was standing at full height on the steed's back holding nothing but the reigns. He neared the small circle that the defending group had managed to hold and, in a mighty display, drew his blades and jumped from the saddle. Adrastus spun through the air, landing finally between the defenders and the Dark Ones.
His stance was perfect. He lofted the beautiful and mighty two-hander effortlessly in one hand over his head, the long bladed dagger going up the length of his lower arm nearer to his waist. The dimming rays flashed off the steel like the fire of war, and an unspeakable fury raged in his stormy blue-gray eyes as he met head on with the first of the Dark Ones. The creature lunged at him and its attack was answered with the fiery steel and stormy rage. The two-hander came down hard, crushing the creature as much as cutting it in two. A second passed and another of the Dark Ones broke rank and lunged at Adrastus. It received a furious slash to the face from the long bladed dagger and then a quick returned slash that lobbed the dark mass where its head should have been completely off.
The waves of Dark Ones seemed to pause for a moment to take in this new threat. In that brief reprieve Adrastus turned his head towards the defenders. "You fools! RUN!" That was when Adrastus saw him. There before him was white haired, red eyed Evan Del Blaine.
I started and for a moment looked at the girl in front of me. I could not see her face but I heard her scream something at the thugs who were now closing in on her. I could not take it anymore and ran out, putting my wand into my staff as I got closer.
“Leave her alone you villains,” I cried, “Fight with your equal.”
The thugs stiffened and slowly turned around. Surprise shot to their faces, and one of them laughed.
“Get back, kid,” he said, “You ain’t belong around here, get back to you Mumsies, before we hurt ya love.”
“No, she won’t.” Another chided, “I take her with me” They laughed again.
Terra Valentine 04-22-2008, 01:18 PM I observed my surroundings the best that I could and found a path that led northeast around the massive army. Although they were staring right at us, I could only assume that their leader had ordered them not to attack. Odd, but I took the advantage. I waved my hand in signal to have the others follow me.
"My name is Evan Amaryllis Del Blaine." The man from the pub said. Evan. Nice name.
"Naomi." I replied quickly.
“Sare.” the little girl said.
From behind me, I heard the boy I hadn't yet met speak. "I'm Aquarious and he's Drake." I looked back to see Drake and his little pal, a dragon.
The angel spoke last. “Adelaide Bequem.” Even her voice carried its own beautiful tune.
“Okay, Naomi. Lead the way.” Evan said. I nodded my approval.
It wasn't far to the forest the path led into. But the forest was dark and cold and everyone seemed to walk hesitantly to get there. It took longer than it ought to, but we were getting away from the Dark Ones and that was okay with me, no matter how long it took.
I took one last look before we entered the forest, and to my suprise the Dark Ones had vanished. Damn hybrids, I thought, my jaw clenching. Damn immortals. The hybrids speed was comparative to my own. How could the rest of the group keep up? And would I be able to keep my speed and still keep Evan safe? I didn't want to think a mortal could make me falter so, but I wasn't sure...
I was sure the hybrids had entered the forest further down the forest's edge, but why they hadn't attacked us yet was unbelievable. I looked back into the trees and gasped.
"What is it?" Evan said stepping to my side and looking into the darkness as well. He squinted.
I merely looked on with fear. There, in the darkness, farther than the others could see, were the thousands of red eyes glowing faintly in the shadows. They had followed us. I looked around us and, sure enough, we were being enclosed by the hooded fiends.
An ambush.
How could I had been so stupid?
I spoke my next words carefully, slowly, as if weighing each one. There was only one way out of this mess. We couldn't take them alone and definitely could not take them right now. "Adelaide, can you carry people and, if so, how many at one time?"
The others exchanged looks of confusion and fear.
Oasis Writer 04-22-2008, 05:01 PM Everything was starting to confuse me. My eyes were lying me with events that could be happening and what wasn’t happening at all. The sight of people in the woods, Adelaide finding the elf and then coming back into what was impossible odds against the dark ones. I was discombobulated.
I watched as the dark ones started to surround us, the newest member of our little group that was carrying amazing blades swinging at them; turning many to cinder, Drake and his dragon starting to attack as well, and Naomi turning to battle as many as she could off of us.
I swiftly pulled Sare off me and pushed her to run off into the forest with the elf that Adelaide had found. I figured she would be safe. Most of their kind was very kind and peaceful.
I pulled my blade and turned to attack, seeing the eyes of the new warrior on me, staring me down, as if he were trying to stab me down with knives. It was unexpected, but I dealt with it for the moment. He was familiar, but I didn’t want to play too much into the thought.
Arrows flew through the air, blades swung, and screams surrounded us. I could only see what was in front of me. Surprisingly, I was a natural at this. My swings were effective, and taking down the dark ones, one at a time, though most of them took several swings before they’d turn to cinder. I hadn’t fought in a long time, I thought, since I only remembered the last two months.
Naomi dove into another three, tearing them to shreds.
The girl that had been using magick a few hundred yards away had finally made her way closer to us, though we had made our way towards her. We weren’t making much of a dent in the thousands, but we were doing something.
Blood ran down my face across my eyes. One of them had caught me with their long claws, catching my forehead and eye. I don’t know if it caught me in the eye completely, but I could tell I was bleeding. I didn’t rely on my sight, I relied merely on instinct and formation. They were all the same. They moved side to side first, and then dove forward in a slight sway.
Something then happened. Something I could never explain with words, but I knew the exact feeling, because I had felt it before I had lost my memory.
A flash of silver, before the immediate darkness.
I was blinded by the action, everyone around me, my ‘friends’, the girl with the magic and the new warrior, and the dark ones, all disappeared. I was alone in the darkness. I wasn’t sure if everyone else was in the same darkness, but I knew they weren’t with me. I felt a sting before I was surrounded by immediate light once again. I wasn’t in the field of shadows and trees that I had been in before. I was in a field of white. I looked around and saw nothingness. My head hurt, and I was slightly disoriented, but I was alone.
“Hello?”
Nothing.
“Anyone!?”
Nothing.
“Great…” I said aloud. “I’m dead…”
“Of course you’re not.”
I jumped…who was that? I looked around, seeing nothing.
“Fool, it’s me.”
I looked sharply to the right, and then to the left. I was hearing myself? I didn’t understand why was my own mind talking to me. I wasn’t thinking of anything.
“You’re not dieing fool. You’re right here.”
“Stop.”
“Stop what? Being myself?! How dare you try and control me!”
“Stop…”
“God, you are truly hopeless.”
“Where are you?!”
“I’m you, you imbecile. I’m everything you are, I’m everything you will ever be, and I’m everything you’ll want to be.”
“Stop that.”
“You don’t understand, do you? You are a murdered, you know that right?”
I shut up, biting my lip hard. No blood came, no matter how hard I bit.
“You used to be the best in Malnarcosus. You were the one warrior they could never control. You were the one warrior that could do whatever you wanted to do, and get away with it. You murdered millions. You helped destroy the forests of Leemaxus, where the elfs lived. You were the one that destroyed much of Haven Valley. You were number one until the Great War ended. Until the Minister of Malnarcosus lost all interest in you and tried to eliminate you. You fell into the sea by Potornaums. You were lucky the bartender, that Jennifer saved you as you were still afloat.”
It pained me but I knew it was true. I looked up at what I thought was the sky and started to cry. My eyes were burning.
“What about her.”
I opened my eyes when my mind didn’t answer. I looked around frantically until…
I really opened my eyes…
I was laying down in a bed. I was still alone, or I thought I was. I tried to stand, but I couldn’t pull myself up in the bed. It hurt to move, to breathe, to do anything. I laid back down and sighed.
“Good, you’re up.”
My eyes opened immediately at the sound of a second voice that wasn’t my own. I looked off to my left, but saw someone I was not familiar with. She was in the shadows, but she was someone I had never met before. I could barely see.
“Who are you?”
“You lost your right eye, dear. You were really wounded. I was surprised to find you still alive. You have a strong soul.”
“What?!” I reached for my eye, finding cloth wrapped around it. I pulled my hand away slowly. “What else has happened?”
“Your leg is gashed really badly. It will be difficult to walk for a while, but I think you’ll heal. I don’t know white magic, or I’d be more help.”
I could feel the pain in more places than my leg.
“Your chest was crushed inward.” She said quietly. “Almost as if a boulder landed on you. What were you doing?”
I didn’t want to fill her in on the horror. I waited for her to speak.
“You’ll have a hard time breathing for a while, but otherwise, you should be okay. We’re safe here.”
I sighed, laying back down. “Where am I?”
“Noempla.”
I shot up, the pain my body tightening around my lungs. “How?!”
“You were in the streets. I found you…I’m so sorry.” She was afraid. I knew she was. I settled down.
“Where’s everyone else?”
She was still scared, but this time with confusion. “There was no one else.”
Where did they go? Had everyone made it out alive? What had happened? I laid back down and closed my eyes. This was too much for me. I would think more about after I awoke. I was able to force out a last thought before I left the girl alone.
“Thank you…for saving me.”
She giggled.
If you have posted before this post, you have a mission:
1) Fight the Dark Ones.
2) You must eliminate at least five Dark Ones in your post.
3) You must see a silver flash, then be surrounded by darkness, before coming into a world of complete white, surrounding you completely in every direction. You may reword it however you decide to, but it must be the same for everyone to the least. Silver, darkness, then white.
4) Have a mental breakdown. You have to talk to yourself for at least one dialogued line. This is to expand your character. Have a revelation, find something cool out about yourself, or maybe make us want to know more about your character. Find something, and use it. But you must talk to yourself for at least one line, and get a response.
5) Be revived if you desire to continue through the story.
6) Since there are only…what? – Eight or so characters before this post, you must pick a town that has not been occupied by ANYONE else, excluding Greava.
7) Do not explain how you got there. No explainations, that will be left to me at a later date.
8) Explain any wounds you may or may not of gotten, but you do not have to explain how you got them. That is optional.
9) End with a nap. Any kind of sleep. I don’t care if it’s a coma. But you gotta fall asleep in the end of the post. That way, we can start off being all refreshed the next post. :)

chad.sims2 04-22-2008, 05:58 PM They where upon us. I reacted as well as I could. Clumsily dodging and striking back at their barley real bodies. I felt the thin nicks of steel cutting my flesh but refused to give ground against them. I struck, time and time again, but still I could not manage to down one of them with my small knife.
Aquarius let out a sound halfway between a lion’s roar and an eagles call, and for a moment his nails dug into me and I risked a glance over at him to see that the ear on my side had been carved off by the monster’s claw. Then he leapt with a ferocity I hadn’t known he possessed into the cloak where the face should have been, then back out of the blackness as the creature crumbled to ashes.
Their face? I thought and as the one fell I took advantage of catching the next off guard and leap with all my might burying my knife into it’s head. It to crumbled but the next one was ready and I leapt back running into someone or something as I did and I felt the claws dig into my chest. Aquarius leapt again and again the creature fell to his razor teeth tearing at it’s face. It followed the first two into hell. But now two came at me at once, I knew I would soon be mashed and choose to take at least one of them with me. I leapt with all my might and ignored as I felt a set of claws ripe away at my left shoulder and plunged my knife into this one’s face. The other one I turned to see Aquarius dealing with. He finished, leapt, and was cut in half as he neared his resting place on my shoulder. Two wooden haves landed heavily on the ground.
I turned to continue, putting Aquarius out of my mind for the moment and was blinded by a brilliant flash of silver. It lasted only a moment as darkness deeper than any night replaced it. A cold empty darkness, that lasted a moment before being replaced by an endless field of White.
“What happened?” I asked the emptiness, only to find my own voice replying.
“You were weak.”
“No, that can’t be true. If I die then there’s no one left!” I said shaking, falling to my knees, tears running down my cheek.
“What does it matter? Would anyone miss us? No, they wouldn’t, you live alone, you live hatefully at the world who hunted down your kind due to their own pride!”
“No that can’t be true.” I argued. “It was not our fault, they where scared of us, they where greedy, they where evil.”
“Really? That’s just the story that you’ve convinced yourself of over the years.” My voice said to myself cruelly and calculated. “This is how things truly went, The Darkling king in his folly declared that all other races where worthless, forbid them entry into his lands, and then declared war on the world, foolishly thinking that he could beat them all. Everyone has told you that the Darklings where powerful but there power couldn’t over power the armies of man, and so they where rightfully removed from the face of the earth for their Pride and Prejudice.”
“How can you take there side?” I screamed and the voice laughed.
“Who said that? Their where woman and children killed, their war was one to eliminate us for our kings crimes, but they where not at fault for it, it was the king!” I buried my face against the ground hands covering it catching my tears.
“We’re finally extinct then?” I asked through shaking breaths.
“Not quite.” Came a harsh voice in reply. I opened my eyes slowly and looked upon a rough looking man clad in hard leather, and smelling of rotten eggs. “So you’ll live.” He said softly and the pain of my wounds rushed back to me.
“Where am I?” I asked softly against the pain in my ribs.
“HavenValley, in the camp of the great bandit lord Rufio the heartless.” He said as if that should impress me. I still felt my moist eyes, and tried to deny what my dream had told me but couldn’t, but even so managed a quizzical look at the bandit, which I now realized that was what he was. “You’re not from around hear.” He said to himself as if confirming some suspicion. “Well it doesn’t matter because you’re being sold as a slave within the week.” He said and stood to leave the small tent I was in. It was simple unadorned and had only a small flap for a door. He opened the flap and sand blew in from outside. I had no doubt now that the man had told me the truth, why lie to a prisoner anyways. The flap closed and I attempted to move, knowing that I would have to disappear before I was sold. I found only tight rope binding my arms and legs and even tighter pain in my many small cuts, my chest and my left shoulder.
I soon found myself falling back to sleep, thankful for the break from the world, and from myself. Hoping that when I awoke I’d be in better shape to escape.
Darkthought 04-22-2008, 06:28 PM Adrastus had only a brief second to look into Del Blaine's eyes before the tide of the enemy crashed once more against all of them. They were everywhere, Dark Ones on his left, his right, behind him, in front of him. He had been cut off from the group, cut of from his prize of Del Blaine's head. The thought enraged him.
The Dark Ones had him completely encircled. He began to realize there was absolutely no hope of survival for him if he tried to fight, yet Adrastus was calm. He had faced death many times before in places darker and colder than this. Adrastus smirked and gripped the hilts of his weapons tight.
"I am proud to die in the company of friends." The blades seemed to shimmer again, both ready for death and glory. The Dark Ones began moving in on all sides, closing the distance between them rapidly. In a sudden flash, Adrastus charged straight ahead and dove into the ranks of Dark Ones. He did not give them the chance to come to him. In a fluid motion he swung a wide arc in front of him with the two-hander. His enemies jumped back, but two were not so lucky. A pair of the shadow creatures fell in half and burst into cinders. From behind him, two more leaped into the air and dove onto his back. The monsters had no faces to speak of, but Adrastus could feel their razor-like fangs tear into the tender flesh of his neck. He cried out, but he did not fall or falter. He kept lashing out ahead. Another of the dark ones fell, this one to the dagger. Its head had been split down the middle. Another of the creatures latched onto his right leg and bit in. Adrastus fell to his knees. As he was about to lash out with the two-hander once more, a fourth Dark One dug its stiletto claws into the muscle of his arm. The weapon fell from his grasp, his tendons cut. Adrastus called his last bit of strength to him and stood, letting out a cry to shake the bones of any man, a battle cry. In the distance there was a sound of hooves. The mighty warhorse charged through the ranks toward its master. A pair of Dark Ones attempted to impede it, but met untimely ends as they were impaled on the spike battle armor and burst into cinders. Just as the mighty beast was nearing Adrastus, a Dark One leaped from the mass and jammed its claws through the unarmored section of the horse's neck. Adrastus cried out in despair. Suddenly, not far off, a magnificent silver light erupted upwards. It was so bright, even when Adrastus shut his eyes he could still feel it searing them out. Then there was darkness.
Adrastus' eyes snapped open. A vast expanse of pristine whiteness greeted him. He became acutely aware of the lack of anything at all. A man could go mad in a place like this.
Slowly, he sat up. His wounds appeared to be healed, or more precisely, appeared to have never happened.
No hurt can come to you in this place Adrastus.
The voice was strong and imposing. Even without seeing the person it belonged to, he could tell the man was powerful warrior. Adrastus jumped to his feet and reached for his weapons. They were gone. The voice laughed, a deep and thunderous rumble.
Adrastus, have you become so dependent on such things? That was not your way once.
Adrastus spun around wildly and shouted, "Who are you?! Show yourself demon! I am not afraid to face you!"
A soothing voice answered him this time. It was like a warm wind.
We are you, and you are us. The dove to your hawk, the hawk to your dove.
This didn't make any sense at all. Adrastus felt himself getting dizzy.
Adrastus, came the strong voice. What has become of you? Are you so given over to revenge that you have forgotten everything you were taught?
"Del Blaine had nothing to do with this!"
Oh poor child, came the gentle voice. Del Blaine is but one of the many masks you put on your own flaws. You are no different from hi-
"Shut up!" cried Adrastus frantically. "Shut up! Del Blaine is nothing! NOTHING!"
Adrastus sputtered and choked as the water tried to fill his lungs. He made himself roll over, every part of his body crying out in pain. Above him, gray clouds rolled on their way. A chill wind buffeted him. He was back in the mountains, back in Lootah.
The shallow stream made little eddies and whirlpools around his body as he lay there. He felt as though every bone in his body had broken. He thought he could hear the splash of several feet coming up the stream. Then he saw his reflection. No, not his reflection, but much the same. It was younger, and beardless.
"He lives, but he is badly hurt," said the reflection as it looked off to the side. "Help me carry him."
Adrastus vision faded as he was once more engulfed in darkness. There was no white expanse this time, only nightmares of his past. He saw the faces of those he had killed during the great war, a countless number. He had served every nation, every lord. He saw Del Blaine standing over him, the man's blade pressed hard against Adrastus's neck. Then there was nothing at all, only quiet darkness and the sound of rain on the mountains.
The Dark ones upon me in a sudden rush. In a split second I took flight, the skies being the best place for me. I was feet from the ground when the first dark one struck me, I yelled out in pain, struggling to get into the air. I flapped as hard as I could, kicking the beast from me.
I took to the air, ignoring the pain in my ankle. I quickly grabbed my bow from its resting-place, and put the arrow in place, pulling the string back. I aimed for the nearest dark one. The arrow shot forward at tremendous speed hitting it where it’s heart should have been. I watched in amazement as the creature fell to it’s death, turning into a mass of ashes.
I hovered just above the trees, making sure I could see dark ones. I pulled out another arrow, aimed, and shot another of the dark ones just below me. A gust of wind changed the path of the projectile by inches, making the arrow miss the heart area. I cursed under my breath, sending another arrow its way. It fell to the ground, turning to ash. I flew higher, grabbing another arrow and shooting another in the heart.
Suddenly a pain emitted from my wing, and I screamed in agony and I plummeted to the ground. I fell to the ground with a bone-crunching sound, and sharp pain went throughout my body. I quickly got up, clenching my teeth as more pain shot through my ankle. I quickly thrust my bow back onto my shoulder, and pulled out my dagger as the dark men took notice of me. I thrust my wings out, clearing the ones surrounding me from behind. I limped forward, jumping onto the nearest dark man. I screamed, plunging my dagger into his heart. I fell to the ground; it’s burnt remains surrounding me. I thrust my wings back again, as more came from behind. I struggled to get up, as a blade just barely missed my head. I stood up, as a dark man flung at me, and I fell to the side as he barely missed me. I got up, fling my arm around with the blade in front in quick intervals.
I attempted to flap my wings, but to no avail. I screamed in pain, as it shot through my wings furiously. I yelled, as a blade sliced my arm. I lunged forward, taking the dark man responsible for my new wound with me. The creature’s strength was immense as it threw me from atop it. I fell to it’s side, quickly rolling near the creature, thrusting my sword at the creature. It yelled as my blade pierced its neck, but that only angered it as it grabbed my wrist, twisting the blade from my hand. I screamed in pain, trying to struggle free from it’s grip. Suddenly it let go, only to get up. It grabbed it’s sword and thrust the blade down upon me.
I yelled, and caught his blade with my dagger. My wrists shook from the pressure, and I rolled to the side, getting up unsteadily. I yelled defiantly, running at the beast and knocking it down once more. This time, I didn’t miss as I lunged my sword into the creatures black heart. The ash flew around me, as something stuck my head.
There was a quick, illuminated flash of silver light. Suddenly everything went into a thick, seemingly palpable darkness. Then as suddenly as it came, it left me onto pure nothingness. I was surrounded by white, as if on a clean slate of paper. I gasped, and it echoed.
I was standing, or if that’s what you could consider it. It’s a feeling one can’t really explain. For, how do you stand on nothing? My ankle was no longer in pain, and my wing was in perfect condition.
“Hello!” I said, and my voice echoed as if I was on a canyon-side.
“You know, no one can hear you.” I heard a very familiar voice say. I quickly looked around, seeing nothing.
“Who’s there?” I asked, reaching for my dagger, but to my amazement it was nowhere to be seen.
“You don’t need weapons here.” The voice stated.
“Who.. are you?” I asked.
Suddenly the entirety of the nothingness was filled with the sound of pure, honest laughter.
I shivered.
“I’m you, of course.”
“Have I finally gone insane?” I asked.
“No. I’m still in you, I’m just the truth. The truth you deemed insufferable, and left in the back of your mind. You can’t hide from the truth love.”
I wrung my hands, and screamed “Go away!” My voice echoed once more, causing me to fall to my knees; my hands shaking.
“You knew. You knew that bastard killed your parents. He enslaved you! For all those years, but he grew to love you as daughter. He adopted you, making you forget what a monster he really was! He murdered them Addy!” the voiced screamed, and tears fell down my eyes.
“That was the old him! He-“ I was quickly interrupted.
“No. You know he was never an honest man. Do you think he made a living by cooking? Heavens no! He was a thief and murderer and you just let that slide! You’re no better then Thomas, you’re a coward! I filthy coward! The blood of the innocent people he murdered. All for what? A few dollars and food on your table! You filthy coward!” The nothingness shook with fury, and the tears fell down my face in sheets.
“Look, I think she’s awake!” said a child’s voice said. My eyes slowly opened. My body ached in every area, my ankle throbbing the most. I lifted my arm and yelled in pain. My wrist black with bruises in the shape of a gripping hand.
“Good to see you’re awake.” Said an older, female voice.
I struggled to sit up, wincing as my wings came from the earth.
“Where am I?” I yelled, recollecting myself.
“Why, you’re in the Celot Forest.” Said a grey haired old woman. Behind her peaked a young boy. I smiled and gave him a little wave with my healthy hand.
“Where are the others?” I asked, looking around the general area.
“What others young lady?” said the woman.
My heart skipped with panic. Where were they? Where they okay? What about the children?
“You should really rest, you got beat up pretty badly. I’ve already dressed your wounds.” Said the old woman, handing me a blanket.
“Yes, rest would be good.” I said yawning, and laying my head down on a rock. I placed the blanket over my throbbing body.
“Thank you so much.” I said, as I closed my eyes. Sleep found me fast, and I smiled, falling into a dreamless sleep.

I laughed as I ran along the shore of the beach. I loved to run- it gave me an unspeakable sensation in my heart. I could chase the sun- I could kick a hole in the sky. When I thought of that, I stopped running. Memories unwanted pushed and pushed until they were there. A deep, dark feeling crept into my solar plexus and I sighed. I was thinking of him again.
"Brother," I thought like a child.
After Fenris left, I didn't have a place to live- I'd burned every single memory of him. Though the ashes, the remains of that fire, were still in my mind.
I walked along the beach some more, and I realized that I haven't had a place to live for ages now. I'd been traveling and making money here and there as a chef at various inns.
"That's not living," I thought bitterly.
I sighed, my energy drained.
I hated thinking about my brother. It made me weak, vulnerable. It was one of the few things that made my life miserable, the memory of him.
My way of dealing with things is that I tried not to think of them. I try not to reminise.
I shrugged it off, but then I thought about something else.
Did I miss anyone when I leave a place?
Usually what kids do when they leave their home is they feel sad, or maybe even cry. I'm not in the usual category. I never clinged or cried to my brother. Though I loved him then, I merely said goodbye to him and left it at that. But I am stronger than that. Much stronger.
I am on my way to becoming a man, and I don't need anything like my memories of Fenris keeping me from reaching my goal of becoming stronger.
************************************************** ***************************
I came upon a door to a house on the beach. Though, when I tried to open the door, my hand kept going back to where it was. It kept going forward, then back, forward, then back again. I didn't know why I was so afraid of the door, or what was inside. Not even my fiery pride could find the strength to make me open the door. And that's saying something.
Though, when I tried opening the door again, I heard a voice.
