Talaris was once a human, but he was somehow changed into a Somnium. He then lost all memories from his previous life, and was forced to consume people’s minds to survive. Every time he consumes someone’s mind, they become a Dark One, and he remembers a little more of his previous life.

Let's see, we need to recrute but until that time, I think we should just keep leaving openings for people to join in. Right now, we have Ter, yourself, and I.

I'll leave posting up to Terra next, or whoever joins in afterwards. If no one posts in the next 30 hours or so, I'll do it. :D

Right now, we're burning down Greava, due to the dark ones, or evil ones, or whatever name that will fit later in the game. We're next to a figure in black that milady is attacking with a dagger, Terra said she say, and myself, who had asked for a name before the action. Now, if someone is going to join in, the character that is by milady and myself can be bad or be good (just one of the deserters of the bad kind).

No God-mode :D Just saying.

Awsome stuff. Been a while since I have been in teh RPG section. If I don't get a bulet shot precisley through my right eyeball and have my brains splatter over my stunned prison comrades.. I will join up. But it's about 2 am and I need sleep, but this is impressivly set out. So when I get started (hopefully tomorrow) the main villiage is getting burnt down.... by the bad guys????

I am having thoughts and ideas already about my character. Any limit to what a character can be at all?

The best way to go about it is to make a character that you can be in the story. Thereafter, just continue the story. I'm not good at explaining unless you ask a question. lol :D

If you can have a dream you can RPG. Its all just imagining what you would do if you where your char(which you are)

That does make sense, but what about the interactions with the other characters? And yeah xD Just having to remember all of the background information and such on the setting and on the other characters. Seems like fun nonetheless though. :p

Let the other characters respond to you just as they'll let you react to them, and as for the rest... you can always go back and reread or take notes.

Okay, we need to freeze-frame for a moment. I'm a 'little' lost.

OK, beasty one got hurt(i think) The new beastyes attacked, i bearly reached the statue in time to save my self. Statue beheaded beasty (Maybe dead? I still don't know) statue used its last moments to help girl. On my next post it's going back to stone. I can bearly stand due to over use of magic. Girly is fighting beasty to a stailmate.

I'll post next. We need to run this in turns to:

A) Make it fair

B) Give opportunities for others to enter, and change how the flow is going


I think, right now, we need to start using this thread a little more because I was only gone for an hour and a half, and yet, got lost in a moment. It might be healthier for the story if we plot out the next steps. :) Right now, I'll pull it into a 'blank page' status for us to think about the next part. We still haven't really met each other in the story. lol

Well at some point my char is going to realise that you dragged him around like the child he is and he's going to be mad/Embarised

Okay :) We can establish that in this next post then, but we need to figure out:

A) What necessarily is going on with Terra and Milady to make it a fair post.

B) Who everyone is, where they're from, etcetera.

Usually, when I make these crazy games, I make it a rule as Game-Master to PM the person before you post (if it effects other characters) so they can see what you're doing and react to it, etcetera. I don't think it's necessary here, but we do need communication so we can figure out what's going on and make sure this story doesn't collapse.

I think i'm the only one who hasn't made someone elses char talk or LOL glare though that was remarkabley i char.

That's exactly my point. :) We need the communication. So, for now, I think we might want to hold up on posting until Terra and Milady get a voice in.

If you like, you can post up something about your character. Dialogue to yourself between me and you. If you want, over PM or over this, I can ask the questions, you answer them, and then write your posts accordingly. :)

You should read through the actual RP board for Rapsody, they have some really great stuff there. I've never actually taken the time to read an RP before. Quite lovely!

Everyone else has posted it in the other forum, so that'll probably work, as for whats going on, well we just finished a big dramatic scene we're all bushed so if you showed up with a redbull that'd be great(JK). I'd wait for oasis writer to give you his oppionion.

The thing we have to be careful about is over-planning- sometimes it's good to bounce off ther others post. It also helps us with our writing. And besides, if we plan too much here- nothing is going to get anywhere. I mean- I wana join in! and get into the game! I mean, plane, sure, but I don't really wana wait around forever for someone to plan the next post you know? I like controlled chaos, personally. :) I don't really want planning, more than just communication. People's characters can get destroyed if not careful, I've seen it before, which draws people to leave because of what can happen. :)

Actually i think this would be a great writers challenge for anyone. Sort of like the final exam for Creative writeing where we had to do a short story on the subject that was voted on by the class. (Pirates won thank god, if it had been love or romance or something i would have gotten a B at best, probably a C, LOL)

I'm working on my computer now and can type out faster and more better, if you noted that my last post was at least a step up from my usual poor writeing i do due to being done on my PS3 LOL. So hopefully i'll still have my freinds cord for the challenge (Mine broke thus the reason i've been useing my PS3)

I'm interested in playing the game, but if I do, I'm interested in being something of a holy-man (a failed priest in this case) as opposed to my usual portrayal of the slacker-rogue.
Is it set, or would my character have an impact?

I don't belive we set any religion for the area, and i would guess it would differ depending on where you where from. (See huge map) I'd suggest hitting Oasis Writer up before adding in a religion due to the fact that it slightly adds to the setting. I doubt he'd mind. As it is the area sort of reminds me of Mideval england, so a failed prest would fit fine. It also has a sort of Anime feel to the game play so i don't think a Japan style preist would really be out of place either. He'd just have to be from out of town if you asked me because this town really feel like it would have a Monothiestic church somewhere.

Of course you can join. The religious nature of the world, as a whole, is that of many places here in our own countries, no matter where you're from. There are many types of religions, and beliefs, as well as ethnics and races (as you can see from the variety of our characters). I've sent you a PM, but I don't think it answered this post, so.....*thinking*.....*thinking*.....we'll go with monotheistic for now, though we'll say the North Eastern is very polytheistic. Gives you a choice from where you are from. Maybe even might set up some funny or series issues between some characters in the text.

Guys, we really need to read others posts before posting random stuff as well- Ive seen it happen in other RPGS and it can off-set the game for others.

So far- I figure the dark ones get killed, they turn tinto cindery ash- like when you burn paper? I don't know if thats acceptable, I can fix the post, but yeah, that's the way I saw it and figured it.

Dark Ones are weaker in the light; we're fighting in an open area that shadows the grounds really well by tall trees from the surrounding forests. They turn to cinder ashes when they are destroyed, though they come from abstract things, such as fear, hatred, etcetera. They're our own inner demons. They don't necessarily take forms, such as vampires, or anything else, but they are demons. They appear more often after wars, due to lose, pain, hopelessness, etcetera.

Reading it is very important, or at least ask myself for a summary. If wanted, I can summarize it as we go.

So I'm getting a little lost in the story. I'm just going off what I'm reading from others. I honestly have no idea where I'm going with anything, I'm just writing randomly. One question--

Anyone know what happened with Adelaide? Previously she had gone to investigate the noise in the bushes and had run into Leaka's character.

We seem to have a discrepancy here- there's no mention of her activities after (Probably because Leaka hadn't yet responded to Bick's post), and Terra has us continuing to fight the Dark Ones... who have now surrounded us, and she is asking a question of Adelaide.

Can we get a hold of Leaka or Bick and try and update their situation?

I've already asked Oasis to send me a summary. I think that's what we all should do is post a summary of what we think is going on and not reply until everyone has posted one. Then collaborate so we can all be on the same page.

Hmm... Sounds like a good idea. We can try to get everything under control before we go on. And it's not like everything's gone wrong--I was just pointing out the thing with Adelaide and Leaka. Easily fixed.

But Oasis has foreshadowed a new and exciting post... and promised us a challenge. I guess I'll just have to wait and see... :D

Sry. I really don't care if there is a change to the story line. I was just makeing sure that i wasn't the only one who had seen posts to stand your ground and then one post that moved us up a trail and to the woods. I just like playing my char so if you agree that this is the direction we should head then i'm fine with it. My char can't do much in a fight with out any prepared figures (The carving i started) or a statue or something so i'm not a driving force in this story, just along for the ride.

We'll work through this all :) So far, I'm impressed with everyone's stories, and I'm really glad we were able to have this thread to discuss as a whole what was going on. Without it, I think things would have gotten much more confusing.

I think it'd be really cool if some how at the end of this if we all wrote the whole story from our charicters perspective and then compared them all. That'd make a cool fantasy series. one story many perspectives. Of course after reading the first you'd lose a lot of the excitment do to given away plot from the other one.

I'm looking forward to that too. :)

If you have posted before this post, you have a mission:

2) You must eliminate at least five Dark Ones in your post.

3) You must see a silver flash, then be surrounded by darkness, before coming into a world of complete white, surrounding you completely in every direction. You may reword it however you decide to, but it must be the same for everyone to the least. Silver, darkness, then white.

4) Have a mental breakdown. You have to talk to yourself for at least one dialogued line. This is to expand your character. Have a revelation, find something cool out about yourself, or maybe make us want to know more about your character. Find something, and use it. But you must talk to yourself for at least one line, and get a response.

5) Be revived if you desire to continue through the story.

6) Since there are only…what? – Eight or so characters before this post, you must pick a town that has not been occupied by ANYONE else, excluding Greava.

7) Do not explain how you got there. No explainations, that will be left to me at a later date.

8) Explain any wounds you may or may not of gotten, but you do not have to explain how you got them. That is optional.

9) End with a nap. Any kind of sleep. I don’t care if it’s a coma. But you gotta fall asleep in the end of the post. That way, we can start off being all refreshed the next post. :)

Just wondering what you people think about having some kind of religious thing going on in the story. My Character, at least as he's planned now, is going to be a "failed Priest", meaning he went through all the steps of becoming a priest, and has all the perks, but isn't actively serving in any capacity.

How will his priestly powers effect the dark ones?
How will he interact with Bick's character (Sorry, I can't spell her name from Memory.)?

That depends on what his priestly powers are. Obviously he can't just wave and have them go away, but they could work the same as a weapon or something (except spiritually rather than... um... physically? driven)

I assume you're asking cause people have referred to her as an angel. That could be a fun thing for him to play with. Maybe he's convinced she's a messenger from God sent to save them. We don't know (I don't think?) what she actually is, so Bick will have to deal with this. She could have some fun reactions, I'm sure.

I think that's fine. It could be fun actually - have your guy always pestering the characters not to do the crazy violent/generally unethical things fantasy chars are always doing. lol.

Weapon of Choice (Max of two): If the occasion called for it, she’d use whatever blunt object was nearby, or her fists (despite her seeming obsession with jewelry, she was quite the tomboy when she was younger). She doesn’t carry a specific weapon.

Notable Powers (Max of two): She uses the jewels in the array of jewelry she wears to do various small magics – moving small objects without touching them, etc. As far as non-magic abilities, she has learned some useful first aid skills (enough to know how to help stabilize and bandage Evan, for instance).
Description: Grew up in a fairly small town in Noempla, where she has spent her whole life. Although her knowledge is limited by this upbringing, she is very bright and inquisitive about the outside world. She is, however, prone to bouts of shyness, though she combats / disguises this with the eccentric nature of her dress (ie the jewelry and pretty clothes) and often by acting far more outgoing than she is.

4) Have a mental breakdown. You have to talk to yourself for at least one dialogued line. This is to expand your character. Have a revelation, find something cool out about yourself, or maybe make us want to know more about your character. Find something, and use it. But you must talk to yourself for at least one line, and get a response.

5) Be revived if you desire to continue through the story.

6) Since there are only…what? – Eight or so characters before this post, you must pick a town that has not been occupied by ANYONE else, excluding Greava.

7) Do not explain how you got there. No explainations, that will be left to me at a later date.

8) Explain any wounds you may or may not of gotten, but you do not have to explain how you got them. That is optional.

9) End with a nap. Any kind of sleep. I don’t care if it’s a coma. But you gotta fall asleep in the end of the post. That way, we can start off being all refreshed the next post. :)

There is a mystery in the town.
Create a mystery (Murder, assault, something missing, finding something)

Deduct how to solve it
At least ten lines of dialogue


Quelo

Dark Ones have returned. There are only 30 in the town. Destroy all thirty
Realize how effective the Military of Malnarcosus is.
You must find reasons to be supportive of the Miltary of Malnarcosus. (Reasons why you should not be apart of the rebellion.)
Have a flashback of the past
Include thoughts about your training (Fighting, magic, etcetera.)


Lootah

There are rebels that are going against the Military of Malnarcosus. You must join their ranks

Can some of this happen over multiple posts?
For instance - I have something kind of planned out, which actually fits really well with the guidelines for Noempla (yay), but the easiest way to do it, particularly since you and I are in the same place, will be for me to post my introductory post and begin the conflict, and then have you continue it (I'd have you wake up at the end of my post). Since I'm waiting for you to wake up, I probably won't fit in 15 lines of dialogue. Thoughts?
