View Full Version : Virus: Biohazard
Raven 04-24-2008, 09:40 AM A biological hazard or biohazard is a biological substance that poses a threat to (primarily) human health. This can include medical waste, samples of a micro organism, virus or toxin (from a biological source) that can impact human health. It can also include substances harmful to animals. The term and its associated symbol is generally used as a warning, so that those potentially exposed to the substances will know to take precautions. There is also a biohazard HCS/WHMIS logo which utilizes the same symbol.

Virus Biohazard
June 12th 2010
After working on a new bacteria to use in a chemical industry to hopefully kill off other lethal diseases something goes terribly wrong when one of the scientists becomes infected with a newly developed toxin. He begins to change and mutate. The scientists working with him run test upon test trying to find a cure. But the infected scientist soon becomes aggressive in his behaviour patterns and lashes out and bites another scientist.
Within a week the whole base has become infected. The Government soon send in the army and organise a full lockdown. However one escaped.
Once the government realise they have no cure for the infected they cleanse the enter complex by burning the infected. Again scientists return to study the data recorded.
The Escaped infected survivor re-appears in the city of New York. The Military launch troops across the streets but fail to secure the infected soon becoming infected themselves.
Within two weeks the Military are sent in to secure the city limits and block all routes in and out. But soon it becomes noted by the Government that Virus has spread further a field.
Within three months the United States of America has become a state of emergency and quarantined itself off. The President is forced to evacuate the state of Washington DC. Unfortunately he becomes infected.
Within a further three months the Virus becomes airborne. The infected become deformed. It kills off much of a persons brain form reducing them to cannibalistic animals. Once bitten by these infected people the virus spreads through the body within 2 hours of infection. Within weeks the Virus spreads through to Canada and south America eventually spreading across to Europe and the United Kingdom.
After a period of 2 months the Virus dies out from being airborne.
Survivors emerge to a world very different to the one the grew up in. Terrorist cells begin to roam. In certain areas there are Military camps taking in refugees.
There appears to be no known government.
July 12th 2012.
What’s left of NATO command stationed near Paris decide to move into the city in full force. Once inside the find large to small groups of survivors. The Command quickly orders the city sealed off. And begins cleaning the streets from dead bodies and engaging those cannibalistic roamers. Its also discovered that global communication is lost, after the main bases are plagued by the infected destroying everything in their path.
August 12th 2012
Paris has been completely cleansed and the science team has been moved into a new laboratory now heavily guarded and testing begun’s on the survivors.
Within a week the survivors have been tested and cleared from infection. 2 weeks later more cannibalistic infected attack the cities boundaries the military repel them. One is wounded and after a days worth of observation from his characteristics they decide to capture him and bring him to the laboratory.
Its discovered he is a carrier of the virus. Unfortunately he is killed after he bites the medical person running tests on him. as is the medical officer. It’s then decided that another must be brought back for further testing in order to help save humanity
September 12th 2012
The Military begin sending out small groups to search across France and further to find a carrier.
Hence the biggest man hunt in human history begins.
October 12th 2012
Its discovered that out of every 5,000 infected one is a carrier. These carriers are important because they a the only answer to a cure.
The Military survivors have secured certain areas especially science laboratories.
December 12th 2012
The terrorists begin to attack military held instillations. Marking a new war of terror. Outside in the cities and across the country sides the infected roam.
12th March 2013
The Military begin recruiting anyone willing to help in the quest for the individuals who hold the key to the cure (The Carriers.)
Single people emerge prepared to help take on the task of going out in search of such infected carriers. They are told the first sign is these infected individuals are rational, and can be communicated with.
The game. Head out in search of such individuals who carry the cure within their blood stream.
The starting location in France Paris. The city has been heavily fortified by NATO forces. And a large laboratory is positioned within the now cleansed city to do tests and examinations of the virus. The rumour is the Virus could morph and adapt further. One fear is the Virus could become airborne again. It’s imperative that a carrier is found so a cure can be created
Examples of characters: Soldier, Sniper, Bounty Hunter, Mercenary, Scientist. You may carry only two weapons. No laser guns its still a projectile weaponry world.

In the game players will be searching through the cities or country depending on which direction you decide to take, and will be looking for a carrier. A carrier is a person who has been bitten by one of the infected people but unlike the others a carrier doesn't turn into an infected. They retain their humanity, but still carry the the virus in their blood stream. If they bite anyone the people they bite will turn.
The carriers carry in them a cure.
The players can either choose to play together or work solitarily.
You have a range of weapons etc. And your skills range from every day skills etc kickboxer, sniper, and runner, strong.
And weapons can be anything from a gimpy machine gun to a baseball bat. your character is aloud two.
Also added into the equation are the terrorist cells. They are like Taliban they want you dead no matter what the problem.

Oasis Writer 05-01-2008, 09:51 PM God, I hate it here.
Paris, France. Such a dirty town. When wasn’t it though? I was talking to myself again, or at least thinking to myself again. Dangerous to do in this town. The infection was spreading faster and faster as the time went on. It was broad daylight right now, which was the best time to move around.
Not many fools would move during the night.
I put my sniper rifle back in its case and looked down from the Eiffel Tower. Heaven’s it was high. Never was a fan of heights, though it was safer than being on the ground, for any case. Good point to scope out for the Carriers.
London was having troubles as well. I pulled a small phone from my pocket and pressed one, talk. No voicemail. I was half expecting a call from any of the survivors that I had been in contact with.
“Oh well, I guess.”
I hung up and put it away.
I looked up at the sky and noticed it was around 19:00. The clock on my phone worked, but the sun was safer to test time.
“Time to hide.” I said to myself. I grabbed my case that held my weapon and moved towards the zip-line repeal rope I had attached to several parts of the tower. Faster than an elevator, by far.
I came to quick, abrupt stop sending the dust particles flying, blocking my view. I grinned, they wouldn’t like it if I did that. I watched and waited as the dust cleared showing a deserted city. I frowned. That’s how most of the cities were, quiet. So eerily quiet.
I ran my fingers on my car door. An old jeep, good for what we needed to do. I had made it even better for the job with a few changes. I had reinforced the side with titanium, never sure of what those buggers would do. I had put seats on the back of it, just in case we met more people on the way.
I opened the jeep door, and took a step out, my boots getting covered with a small film of dust. The hard ground felt good as I stretched my feet. I took my gun out, placing it on the dashboard as I sat back in my seat. I quickly took a cigarette out, and lit it. I breathed the smoke in, and waited for her.
I cleared the last of the shrubs and walked out into the open. A beat-up black safari stood in the clearing. The driver door as open and I could see a leg dangling out. I started walking toards the jeep, but started coughing when a wiff of smoke enveloped me. I caught my breath and leaned inside the door, snatched the cigarette, threw it to the ground, and crushed it.
"How, many times have I told you smoking is bad for for you Kim??" I glared at her.
She shifted guiltily. I walked to the other side and slipped into the passenger seat. She started the car, and drove it through the dust down the other side of the car-track.
"You called him up?" I asked, when we pulled into the highway.
She shook her head.
I lost my temper, "Speak for goodness sake Kim, this way ain't going to get you anywhere-" I was about about to comtinue when I noticed that we were being followed.
I took out my cell phone. No use scaring Kim, I'd have to talk to him myself. I pressed speed dial, and waited as his phone started ringing.
Oasis Writer 05-01-2008, 11:12 PM Why do they always call when I’m repelling?
I pulled out my phone and answered it, holding on to the rope and my case as safely as I could.
“Go.”
“Being followed, hurry.”
“Street?”
“Main.”
“Got it.”
I hung up. Simple, fast, effective. Can’t waist time. I leaned back, setting the case on my chest, opening it to pull out my sniper rifle. Once I had the weapon and bullets that I could pocket, I threw the case. A few hundred feet wouldn’t hurt it, I hoped.
I swung around and looked through the scope. Main street…main street.
Fourth was filling up. Damn shadows. If the darkness wasn’t bad enough, why the shadows now? Must be really dark down there.
“Where are you?...”
Found ya.
The jeep was rolling fast, passing house by house, being followed.
You’re kidding me.”
There were too many to shoot singly. They would need to get to the open. I reached into my pocket and pulled out a long bullet that had a red dispenser in the back. I loaded it and aimed. This was risky, more for my friends than for those things.
I shot, the bullet traveling hundreds of meters a second until it hit the side of a building about 20 feet from the jeep. A bright explosion sent screams through the air, loud enough for them to be heard from where I was, which was an astounding amount of meters.
Eat sun, bitches.
My phone rang once more. I reached for it and opened.
“Location?”
“Eiffel Tower, on the rope.”
“Be there in fifteen.”
“Over.”
“Oh, Aaron?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m going to kick your ass for that.”
I frowned as the side of a building exploded, sending debree in all directions. I quickly took a turn. We had to get to the Eiffle Tower, fun.
I quickly slid her my gun.
"Two, better then one." I said with a grin, pushing my foot hard on the gas pedal. I took another turn, and could see the tower just meters away. I took the moment to look back, there were only a few left.
I made a quick stop, spinning the car to face the beasts. I quickly grabbed for my crossbow, loaded it with a pros speed, and shot the nearest one in the head.
"Get in!" I yelled, quickly loading my crossbow and shooting another one in the head. It fell down as I heard movement in the back of the seats.
I quickly hit the gas pedal, and spun the car around, heading the opposite way, dropping my crossbow next to my seat.
Oasis Writer 05-01-2008, 11:43 PM It took me a moment to rearrange myself enough to start my repell again. I could see the jeep coming up quickly. They would be very angry if I didn't meet them. There was still a few following them.
I slid down the rope and unhooked myself. The case was completly destroyed, so I left it. I ran with my gun in hand, towards the jeep that was spinning around. I heard her, but I didn't reply. I jumped into the back, stood up, and aimed. We were on the move very quickly.
Shoot and run, a great time.
I was fuming mad. He'd made matters worse. That explosion had warned them that we knew they're following us. I was going to get back at that guy for that.
I leaned out of the window to check if we were still being followed.
We were. By wanna-be who obviously wanted to be a part of the fun.
I grinned. If fun is what he wants.
I fired both guns at the same time, and though the impact unsettled me for a minute, it made it's mark. The next thing I knew, the guy was rolling into the ditch. I grinned truimphantly.
Then I turned.
He was there, seated in the back-seat. I marveled at his looks once more. But this time there was a certain matureness that hadn't been there the last time. His eyes had sunken into hollowness, the childishness was gone, and I could see haunts of the past in them. I could see living solo had unnerved him though he ouldn't admit it. I sighed. If only he'd taken my advised and moved with me. I would have had a brother. And he would have been properly cared for. I wondered what he'd been doing for the past on year.
"You angry at me?" he sounded a little guilty.
"No, I'm not," I said.
He raised his eye-brow questioningly.
"Ok, maybe a little." I admitted.
It made me smile. Apart from his macho image, he just really was a kid inside, who'd never got any love. I'd have to get him out of his shell. He'd opened up the last time. But I wondered if he would now. There had been a lot many things that had changed. Like Kim for instance.
I'd met her at a base camp too, on a mission some 3 months ago, where she'd been taken captive. Though, she too, like him, had refused my offer to move with me. I sighed. Noone wanted my care.
Just then Kim glanced up at the rear-view mirror.
She saw Aaron.
And her mouth dropped open.
I grinned.
This was going to be fun.
My mouth dropped, but I quickly closed it and blushed looking away. Damnit. He was good looking, that was for sure. Distractions, thats all he was. A useful distraction, I gave small grin.
She handed me my gun back as I slowly went to a normal speed.
"I'm Kateja." I said, giving the man in the back a wave , "But call me Kim."
"Aaron" he said, with a wave back, as I looked through the rear view mirror. I nodded. Aaron the distractment. Lovely.
I took a turn, we were headed for the safe house. Just momentarily. Then it would be time to go out hunting. I grabbed a cigarette, ignoring the look from Aina, and lit it. I breathed in, with a huge grin on my face.

Age: 23
Sex: Female
Skill: Mentally unstable. Kind of warped when it comes to good and evil. She was a gymnast and knows street fighting and some martial arts.
Occupation: Bounty Hunter
Weapons: Two 9mm pistols.
I felt a smile spread across my face, it widened into a grin. Soon I was laughing uncontrollably.
thelastblueberry 05-02-2008, 12:48 AM Charlie stared at her reflection in the dusty, cracked mirror. Her short, choppy blonde hair was a mess, as always. The pink highlights were starting to fade.
“Need to get more hair dye.”
She wrapped the thick straps of cartridge holders over her shoulders and around her waste, then pulled on her favorite fingerless black gloves. She grabbed her guns out of the sink and slung them over her hips before waltzing out of the dinky bathroom and into the gas station store. Almost everything was gone from the shelves except for a few random magazines. She checked the register to see if the machines still worked. Surprising they did.
“Give Charlie some gas pleeeeaase.” She pressed a few buttons and then began whistling as she walked out to her jeep and flipped open the gas cap.
“Damn French. Whatever happened to good old American? Does anyone remember how many Euros equals a Dollar? Geez. Eenie meenie minie mo!” She jammed the gas pump into the jeep and continued whistling. She suddenly perked at the sound of gunshots in the distance.
“Oh you did not just start the fun without me!” She yanked the pump out of the car, jammed the cap back in place and hopped into the drivers seat. The engine roared to life as Charlie gave a hollar of excitement. She slammed the gas pedal and drove off down the road towards the Eiffel tower.
I stopped laughing when we slammed to a stop suddenly.
"What-??" I stared at Kim. From the corner of my eye I could see Aaron was surprised too.
She nodded at the rear-view mirror. I looked
And stared. Parked at an odd angle behind us, was a car, and sitting in that car was a girl with the oddest hair. Blonde with fading pink highlights. Aaron started to get out of the car, but I caught hold of his sleeve.
"Let me handle this," I said.
He nodded but got out all the same.
I got out of the jeep, Aaron following me, Kim behind him and walked over to the driver's end and opened the door.
"Just who the hell do you think you are and what exactly are you following us for?"
Kratos 05-02-2008, 05:06 AM Paris. It was supposed to be the city of marvels; of romance. Yeah right.
I scanned the ground from the vantage point of a tall tower. There were two cars near each other, with three women and a man fighting...well, arguing. I could see, but they couldn't evidently, a host of those things heading towards them. I grabbed my pistol and unsheathed my katana.
"Well, here goes,"
I leapt from the tower to the ground below. Ok, it really wasn't a tower....it was a junk heap. But it was tall! Anyways, I jumped, holding my katana in front of me and screaming incoherently.
No doubt I made quite a sight.
Suddenly I heard screaming, and I shot my eyes in the direction of the sound. I gasped, my cigarette falling from my mouth. There was a young man charging with a large sword. I quickly grabbed my bow gun, and put my arrow carrier on my shoulder, and patted my gun in it’s holder on my leg, making sure it was there. I looked in the direction the boy had been running and my eyes went wide. A huge group of them. I quickly stomped my cigarette out.
“Holy crap.” I yelled, “Aaron! Aina! LOOK!” I yelled.
I quickly loaded the crossbow, aiming expertly for the closest ones head. I got a direct hit as it fell to the ground.
“Maybe it’s time to get out of here.” I said, jumping into the car as I heard gunshots, “You guys shoot, I’ll drive.” I looked over at the other Jeep, hoping they would follow.
“Hey you!” I screamed as I put my crossbow down and sat in the drivers seat, yelling at the man with the sword, “Jump in!” I quickly handed Aina my gun again and sped the opposite direction of the group of the beasts coming towards us.
Oasis Writer 05-02-2008, 08:18 AM Crazy women sometimes.
As much fun as it was to scope out the area around Paris, it wasn’t funny to see a guy with a sword, charging the shadows to attack them.
I’ll admit, I would do it to if I had a cool katana; but nevertheless, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere close to those things to try and swing. Their strength was immense and their speed as far too swift to want to play.
I was shooting at them with my handgun when he jumped in and Kim spun around, speeding up to our safe house. It was getting really late. If we let the sun get any lower, we’d be doom.
I started abusing myself under my breath. How could I have been so careless? I should have known. I'd been in this business for 5 years now. I was senior for God's sake. And I'd been carried away. I should have seen this coming. Running away meant being followed. Being followed equated, attaching which lead to stalkers, and stalkers meant attacks. I'm so stupid.
I looked back as we came to a standstill in front of the safehouse. F**k, that woman. I'd forgotten about her. And she now knew where we were staying. But I know it was less dangerous letting her go than keeping her captive.
"You can go," I told her, when she came over. To my surprise I could see hurt flickering over her face. She looked so familiar. Sort of like another Charlie I'd known. But that Charlie had been American, and this was French. And that Charlie was dead.
"You don't understand English?" I snarled, angry at her for bringing back the old memories. "You want me to speak in French?"
"Of course I understand English." she said. "I'm American. Only, I'm not going anywhere. You're stuck with me."
There was a momentary awkward pause as everyone looked at each other.
“Bloody hell!” I yelled, “Let’s get in the damn safehouse!” I quickly thrust the door open. As everyone piled in. I soon followed only to notice my crossbow was still in the car. I cursed under my breath, and ran to the car. I opened the door, grabbing my bow, and going into the back to get my extra arrows. I suddenly heard a shot go right past my head and the cry and thud of a person behind me.
I turned around, and groaned as I saw the remainder of one of the beasts.
“Thanks.” I muttered, grabbing my extra arrows. I quickly ran for the safehouse and slammed the door shut, locking it’s bolts.
“What are we going to do?” I heard one of them say, “They’ll have this place surrounded soon.”
“This place won’t be safe long if they all attack it.” Someone else said. I quickly looked through the boxes, trying to find my extra arrows, ignoring them. I needed them if I was to survive this. I quickly came up my box of extra arrows and picked it up tossing it to the middle of the room.
“I have a friend with a Helicopter who stayed near here just in case something happened.” I said, and everyone looked at me, “I’ll call him now.”
I quickly grabbed my phone and held in the 1 key. His number dialed and I put the phone to my ear.
“Brauchen du mich?” his dark, German voice asked.
(Do you need me?)
“Ja.” I muttered, “Danke Brock.” I said hanging up the phone.
(Yes.) (Thanks Brock.)
“I’ll be here in a few minutes.” I said with a crooked smile. I quickly sat down on my box of arrows, awkwardly rocking back and forth as I heard the noise of the beasts outside.
I tapped my foot impatiently.
“For goodness sake get in already will you?” I said to Kim and Charlie who were bickering constantly. “Charlie, get inside, Kim, go in front with Brock.” Charlie smiled gleefully. Kim looked happy, but Aaron looked a little disgruntled at this arrangement. I waited for all of them to get in, and then got in at the last myself. So the copter rose and we were taking off.
“So,” Charlie turned to us, “How did you people manage to get into this situation anyways?”
I looked at Aaron, and he looked at me. I started explaining. Right from the start. Everything except why I was involved.
Iulia 05-02-2008, 10:56 AM Mikel De'Rojan. 26. Brown hair, blue eyes - scar on left wrist. He was to be at a certain pub tonight, and I needed the money - I needed it bad. Going out at night was a ridiculous risk, and I wasn't sure it was worth it. I stood at the door, paused in mid-step and fully armed with my gun and knife.
"Daddy? Where are you going?" Sh**. I turned around and bent down to look Cathleen in the eye. She was developing a bit of a French accent, but still rolled her "r"s like the Scot she was.
"I thought you were asleep," I said, not knowing what else to tell her. She shook her head.
"I couldn't." she mumbled, flatly.
"Listen - I want you to lock up the doors. I have to go out for a little while. Try to sleep - if someone comes to the door, go to your room. Lay flat on the floor and lock that door too."
"What if it's you?" she asked, with a small grin.
"I have a key, I won't knock or break in. Okay?" Cathleen looked horrified. She hated being left alone, but there was no one I could trust to take care of her. I could starve to death for all I cared, but my daughter was getting more and more slender and I had to provide for her. Otherwise, I was incompetant and nothing.
Oasis Writer 05-02-2008, 10:57 AM I listened to her story. It was weird seeing her again after so long. When everyone was killed in my life, I joined the army for a while, but it didn't last long. I was always a loner. It was weird being with a group again.
I interrupted her story when I heard a noise.
"I'll be back." I said, grabbing my rifle and walking outwards toward a window.
I looked out of the plates of metal and saw nothing. It was about dark. Extremely dangerous time. I sighed. Today didn't go well. We were really reckless.
We were on the top floor of a building, Brock had already managed to secure it. He was a good friend, heartless bastard or not. He grabbed my shoulder, his face like stone, emotionless as usual.
“Holsteiner und Brot.” He said, handing me a bagged wonderbread and
(Holsteiner[very popular German sausage] and bread.)
a large german sausage.
“Danke meine Freunde.” I said, patting his cheek as he went to his
(Thanks friend.)
bunk in the far corner. His English was poor and his social skills were lacking, but all the same he was my friend. I pitied his lonesomeness, but I smiled and came to the group.
“Bread and some german sausage.” I said with a half smile, setting it on top of my box in the middle of the room. Hungry eyes looked my way, and Aaron began to cut the sausage into thick slices.
“Dinner is served.” He said. I smiled, taking two slices of the bread and putting the sausage in between. I greedily took a bite, the greasy but flavorful sausage melting into my mouth.
I looked disgustingly at the sausage.
"Kim?" I said.
"Yeah, Aina?"
"You got canned tomatoes right?" I asked
"Yup," she answered.
"Gimme sum of it, and the bread."
"Why?" she looked confused.
"I'm a vegetarian."
I quickly got up, the sandwich still in my hand. I gently shook the closed-eyed Brock, waking him from his sleep.
"Hat gekonnt Tomaten?" I asked, and he gave a grunt as he lifted himself up.
(Canned Tomatoes?)
"Nicht." he said, "Ein Kuchen?"
(No.) (A cake?)
"Ja! Das ist super!" I said with a smile, as he went to his bunk, and picked up a foil
(Yes, that's great!)
wrapped cake, and handed it to me. I quickly walked over, and handed Aina the cake.
"No tomatoes, but here's some cake," I said, "Sorry."
I crinkled my nose, "It'll have to do I guess."
We all at in silence, all mulling over our own problems.
The room was in silence fifteen minutes later too, even though everyone had finished eating.
I sighed, "It's getting monotonous I guess, after all the excitement. We should really go off to sleep."
No-one protested. Everyone moved to their bunks except Kim and me. We took the sleeping bags and spread them on the floor. I switched off the light and got into the sleeping bag. Soon i found myself slipping off to sleep. The last thing I remembered was thud.
thelastblueberry 05-02-2008, 01:33 PM Charlie sat in a corner and watched as everyone ate. When she was offered some sausage she waved it away. She wasn't interested in food right now. She stared at Aina shamelessly, a small smile curving the edges of her mouth. Her green eyes glimmered with some secret only she seemed to know.
After their silent meal Aina suggested getting some shut eye. Everyone agreed. Charlie watched them lie down and make themselves comfortable, never taking her eyes away from Aina. After a while everyones breathing bcame slower and deeper as they entered the land of dreams.
Charlie got up and tiptoed carefully over to Aina and then noisily plopped down on the ground next to her. She rested her elbows on her knees and leaned over Aina to get a better look at her face. Aina's eyes flashed open and blinked a few times, looking startled.
Kratos 05-02-2008, 03:33 PM Wow. That was unexpected.
Usually I work alone, but I needed these guys. It was a bunch of chicks anyway, apart from a guy. I realized that charging into a group of monsters with just a katana wasn't the wisest thing to do, but hell, it looked sweet.
Well, I was lying in an apartment with all these people. Most, like me, were pretending to sleep; either from fear of those creatures coming back or from distrust of the others. Me, it was the distrust. I don't really like people at all. They just slow you down and let you down. You let them into your life, and they ruin it.
I took a deep breath and leapt up. Two girls stared at me with distrust. None of these people had even spoke to me before.
"Don't worry. I'm going to scout the area."
They stared at me, amazed that I could speak English. Well, I could. Japanese, English, Chinese, French, Arabic, you name it. I made it my specialty to learn languages. The only problem was that I didn't really care what people said.
I headed out the door, gun in my left hand and my right resting on the hilt of my sword. There was no sign of the monsters that I could see immediately. The city just looked dead.
Suddenly, I realized my mistake. I had never fought these creatures before...and I was out at night.
"Man am I stupid..."
They were coming...
I sighed as the boy walked out the door and I quickly grabbed my gun.
“If you hear yelling, then you’ll need to come.” I mumbled. Whether they heard me or not, I didn’t care. I patted my gun in it’s place, and took my crossbow in my hand. The sleep metal felt good in my hands. I quickly slung my arrow carrier over my shoulder, filling it as much as I could with extra arrows.
I quickly ran after the boy, and could all ready see the beasts surrounding the building. Most of them couldn’t be seen in the dark, but you could definitely smell them.
“God damnit.” I cursed under my breath. I quickly grabbed the boy and ran inside the building with him.
“We can’t fight them in the dark.” I hissed, “What do you suspect we do boy?”
Kratos 05-02-2008, 04:40 PM One of the girls, Kim, I think, grabbed me and forced me back inside.
“We can’t fight them in the dark,” she hissed, “What do you suspect we do boy?”
"First off, I'm older than you are. About what we're gonna do...we're gonna blast their brains out, what else?
She gaped and looked at me strangely. I guess she'd never heard someone talk to her like that.
I unsheathed my blade. "Let me at these guys. I'll carve 'em up like sushi."
I chuckled. "See there? I made a joke. I'm Japanese, sushi?"
She didn't answer.
I shrugged. "Fine, ignore me."
She still gaped.
"Hey, you ok?"
She pointed behind me and raised her weapon. I spun around and came face to face with the largest horde of monsters I had ever seen.
"Oh shi-"
milove 05-02-2008, 05:45 PM I aimed my sights at the nearest creature next to me and fired my beloved revolver. There was a loud bang and the mindless being fell to the floor. Blood oozed for the bullet hole. I had killed an other infected human.
An other one down, I thought slowly. I stared at the body with sadness. I could never stop thinking how they were human also. I think I'll call this one Lily.
Feeling sentimental I picked a wild flower that was growing next to my boots. I then laid it on the corpse slowly.
It was difficult, but we needed to find the cure no matter how many lives were lost.
Iulia 05-02-2008, 05:45 PM As I walked through the street, I kept my gun in my hand. The pub was only yards away, and I had already shot three of these vicious creatures. The light was on, but I could make out only one figure. I could see him - there he was. I didn't get much thrill out of my so-called job, but I saw the villain as bread on the table. So . . . close.
Iulia 05-02-2008, 05:55 PM There was a woman leaning over a corpse to my left, and I felt a sudden pang of sadness for her. She was setting a wildflower on it, remorse on her face. I cocked my head to the side, thinking this a trite strange, but as I pondered, another Infected came up behind her and raised arms above her head.
"Look out!" I yelled, leaping at the creature with my knife raised. It fell to the ground and she looked up, shocked.
He turned around and said something, but my attention was elsewhere. I stared at group of beasts in front of us. Surrounding us on all sides. My eyes went up and my heart raced as I took notice they were even atop the buildings. I slowly loaded the arrow onto the crossbow, not taking my eyes off of them.
“Oh shi-“ I heard him say as I snapped back into reality.
I shot one of the nearest in the chest, he fell to the ground without a noise. I quickly loaded another arrow, shooting another in the chest.
“Kommen sie hier!” I yelled instinctively. I cursed under my breath, I
(Come here)
hated the English language.
“We need help out here!” I screamed. Taking my handgun out, shooting at the on coming infected beasts. I frowned as the body of one brushed my boot. I always feared infection; that’s why I was here. I just worried we wouldn’t find one with the cure.
I heard the others come, and I went around trying to get to the other side. That’s when I noticed a man and a young lady on the other side of the monstrous group. They had weapons, and appeared to not be infected.
“Hey!” I yelled towards them. Suddenly one of the infected beasts jumped at me. I quickly fell to my side, shooting at it more then I needed to. I frowned as the last shot came out as a blank. I was out of bullets, they were inside the building on the other side.
“Sheiss.” I yelled, grabbing an arrow and equipping it to my crossbow.
Iulia 05-02-2008, 06:25 PM "What are you doing?" I called, as a girl shot wildly at an Infected coming at her. I hoped I didn't sound angry - I just thought it a shame to waste amo. I had heard her speak German and English, and was relieved not to have to speak French. The tone they put to their 'r's was one I couldn't manage, and I did not like the language anyway.
I looked over at the people that I had worked my way towards.
“Hallo.” I muttered, shooting one of the infected that got to close to me. I shuddered, this was getting uncomfortable.
“We have a helicopter over there.” I said pointing to the very top of the building where the vehicle sat, “We can get out of here with our group.” I waited for a response as I kept my guard.
Iulia 05-02-2008, 06:37 PM "Thanks, but I've got work to do." I replied, flashing a half-hearted version of my crooked smirk.
Kratos 05-02-2008, 06:55 PM The chopper came down, but I ignored it. I slashed an infected, cutting its arm off. I turned and blasted the next one in the head with a bullet.
"Get on the chopper!" called one of the girls, cupping her hands to sound louder.
More Infected crawled around me, admitedly more than I could handle. I climbed up the ladder, taking a few shots now and then.
As we all crammed in the copter, I managed a smile. "Oh, by the way, my name's Roku."
Iulia 05-02-2008, 07:00 PM I had in mind to simply dash into the pub, kill Mikel, collect the reward and be done with it. Then I could get home to Cathleen and buy food in the morning. Unfortunatley, the Infected were coming at us like ants on a lump of sugar, so I had no choice but to give into being dragged into the copter.
"Kale," I mumbled in response.
I woke up with a start. That girl, Charlie, was staring down at me. And she'd gotten to close for my comfort, but it felt like someone had drugged me. The boy with the katana got up and moved towards the door.
To my surprise, Kim followed him. I would’ve too, but I was too drowsy.
Then it all started going wrong, i could hear all sorts of sounds outside the room. Everyone in the room was scrambling for the door. I tried pulling myself up, but found no strength. Next moment I found myself being pulled to my feet and supported out of the door. Charlie. It was her.
“Don’t worry, Aina, Charlie will take good care of you.” She said. She led us to an onclove besides the building. I was really drowsy. I wondered if Brock had mixed something in the cake. I’d been the only one to eat it. And I was the only one feeling like I was right now. I started falling back to sleep. Next moment, someone jerked me very rudely and I found myself being carried to the copter. I was bundled in next to Kim, and Charlie came after me. She clasped my hand tightly and I put my head on her shoulder. It felt so nice to be with Charlie again. No, this wasn’t my Charlie. But it felt like she was, like she’d come back from the dead. I heard the boy with the katana introduce himself as Roku. Then I started slipping from the seat in between. I hadn’t tied the belt. I grasped Charlie’s hand tighter, but continued slipping.
And then I passed out.
thelastblueberry 05-03-2008, 03:48 AM Aina didn't seem like her usual self. Charlie didn't liek it.It had been five years since she had lst seen her riend alive. AShe grabbed Charlie and tried shaking eh awake. Whent hat didn't work she suppoted her towards the helicopter. Charlie was dying to get a shot at the nasty beasties, but she needed to help Aina first.
"Don't worry Aina, Charlie will take good care of you."
They climbed into the helicopter, Charlie guiding Aina the whole way. She felt the urge to hold onto Aina's hand, as if Aina would simply dissapear unless they kept some kind of physical connection. She felt AIna's headbob and then slwoly fall onto her shoulder. Charlie placed her arm around her and stroked Aina's hair.
"Don't leave Charlie again ok? Just sleep." She began humming a lullaby no one had ever heard before as the heicopter took flight.
Kratos 05-03-2008, 12:29 PM One of the girls was singing the other one a lullaby. It must've been some American one, 'cause I'd never heard it. It was a strange contrast; a lullaby in a forlorn, death-ridden city crawling with zombie mutants.
No one spoke; we were all tired and uncomfortably crammed into the chopper. Things had happened so fast that I wasn't sure who was who, or even where we were. But I knew my mission. The people of this world needed protection against the Infected, so I would be the man for the job. I usually work for money, but I'm not really sure that money is really worth anything with these Infected around. I guess I was in it for fun; and possibly pleasure, if I saved the right woman.
"Anybody know where we're heading?" I asked.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 12:47 PM I was grateful - I really was. They had, after all, possibly saved my life, but on the other hand, I was annoyed.
"I um . . ." I began, unsure of how to explain myself. "Thank you," I started over, hoping to appeal to them. "Listen, I need to get out of here. W-what I mean is, I need to get home." The others looked at me a bit strangely, but I waited for a reply before speaking again.
I came back to reality with a snap.
"Damn, damn, damn," I cursed, all the drowsiness being washed out, "We can't leave Paris."
Iulia 05-03-2008, 12:50 PM The next voice I heard was hardly a helpful one. The girl who'd been sleeping began to curse, and then spoke of leaving Paris. She didn't want it, and I suddenly felt panicked.
"I agree," I said quickly, "we definetly can't leave Paris."
Kratos 05-03-2008, 12:50 PM One of the girls was acting all flustered and kept saying how she had to get home. None of the others were talking at all, so I decided to chime in, being the talkative guy I am.
"Why are you here, anyway? You live here?"
Iulia 05-03-2008, 12:51 PM "Me?" I asked, not sure if he spoke to the girl or to me. "I live . . . not far away from where I met you."
"Damn it Roku. I'm on a mission to save the world. Couldn't you see from the way those monstors are following us around? I've been assigned the charge, and currently I'm in charge. Unless you've got a problem with a woman being in charge." I raised my eye-brow. "I'm Ainadika by the way. You can call me Aina."
thelastblueberry 05-03-2008, 12:59 PM Charlie turned to look out the window, continuing to hum the lullaby and ignoring the conversation. She stared at the dark city below and remembered when it used to be full of lights and life. Her beathe materialized on the window, partially blocking her view of the city. She seemed lost in her own world.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 01:17 PM The girl who'd formerly seemed so tired was not so anymore. She spoke harsh words at the man, and I was inclined to give up my cause. But I thought of Cathleen, and I knew I couldn't leave her for much longer. I began to get angry, thinking of her shaky voice and her fearful expression. It was as if they didn't hear me speak at all.
I watched as they talked, gently squeezing Brock's shoulder, his eyes heavy with sleep. I frowned, not sure what to say to the others.
"We have ourselves a few problems." I finally said, everyone looking at me now. I rubbed Brock's arm, and he quickly grabbed my hand and smiled.
"We have a very exhausted driver, I don't think he'll last over another half an hour." I looked at Brock's weary eyes, concerned.
I looked at the man who had called himself Kale.
"Why do you need to go home?" I said, "We aren't leaving you there, unless its safe."
Kratos 05-03-2008, 01:36 PM That Aina girl was getting really flustered, cursing at me and stuff.
"No..I don't have a problem with women in charge...I was just makin' conversation...I'm just confused. Where is this chopper heading?"
Iulia 05-03-2008, 01:37 PM Finally. I sighed in relief, able to explain myself.
"My daughter," I said, "I have to get home to my daughter."
thelastblueberry 05-03-2008, 01:37 PM Charlie suddenly turned away from the window, full of eager energy.
"Charlie will fly the helicopter! Charlie knows how." She grinned and looked around at the perplexed faces staring at her. No one seemed to believe her, but Charlie didn't notice. She half stood, stooping under the roof of the heicopter, and made her way to the front where the driver and woman sat.
"Step aside!" she ordered as she stretched her arms forward, cracking her knuckles.
"We're staying in France. We have to Kim, we've got to hunt down the cure. And France was instructed to be our first destination." I started getting frustrated.
"Charlie, no, not now please." I said. "Let him manoveur. I'm the boss remember? So I get to decide?? Please. Then when we land Ieither Aaron or me'll pilot and you can sit next to us." I spoke to her as if speaking to a child.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 01:49 PM Her words rang in my ears. Hunt down the cure. Now I felt even more strongly than before. I didn't belong here.
"Please!" I said, louder than before, "she's six years old!" I gasped and continued, "I don't even care if it's safe, más féidir leat, let me down!" I breathed shakily, realizing I hadn't even remembered to speak English the whole time. I felt like a madman, but frankly, I didn't care much.
Kratos 05-03-2008, 01:56 PM That guy Kale was getting on my nerves. He kept whining about how his daughter was down there.
"You wanna get down?" I asked.
"I'll help you look, if you want."
I looked at Aina, a little irritated.
"Never said we should leave. But we need to get Kale to his daughter." I muttered and quickly turned back to Brock. His eyes dark with tiredness.
"We need to land, can someone else take over the piloting?" I motioned for Brock to land on the nearest tall building, and he obliged.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 02:00 PM I was angry with Roku, who made sarcastic comments, but I felt I owed my life to the girl who spoke of me.
"Thank you. Bless you," I said, calming down.
thelastblueberry 05-03-2008, 02:06 PM Charlie turned to glare at Aina. Her green eyes were suddenly dark and cold. "Don't talk to me like that. You have no power over me."
The anger dissapeared as quickly as it had come and Charlie's face brightened. "Helicopters are no fun. Let's go down!" she settled herself directly behind the man and woman guiding the helicopter and settled her attentin on the one they called Kale.
"Aren't you too young to have kids?"
Kratos 05-03-2008, 02:07 PM I sighed. I never got any recognition, even when I was trying to be nice. The chopper landed on top of a building, and Kale leapt out, yelling about his daughter.
"What the heck..." I muttered, jumping out and following after him. After all, there were Infected about.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 02:07 PM "I'm twenty-nine," I replied. No sooner, a girl jumped from the helicopter as it landed on a building. Roku followed her, and I simply stared, wide-eyed.
"Thank you so much. I wish I could pay the debt I owe you some way." I said, before stepping our of the copter myself, gun at the ready.
Kratos 05-03-2008, 02:28 PM "No problem," I muttered, pulling out my pistol and katana.
"So, where's your daughter?"
Iulia 05-03-2008, 02:31 PM I raised an eyebrow. Did he mean to help me?
"Not too far, thanks," I said, trying not to sound rude. After scanning the area to see where I was, I began to climb down the escape ladder.
Kratos 05-03-2008, 02:37 PM He seemed really surprised that I was helping him. Guess that's what comes with being sarcastic.
I followed him, leaping down the escape ladder and heading through the alleys.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 02:39 PM He followed me down the escape ladder, and as soon as I hit the ground I began to run. He ran too, and although I was sceptical at first, I was kind of glad.
(p.s. even though I myself am, my character's not a girl)
I watched as the others slowly piled out, and Brock moved to the back, resting his head on the side of the copter, falling asleep.
"Tag." I said patting him on the head and following. I watched as the Roku and Kale went down the building, headed in some direction. I quickly followed as they got to the bottom of the ladder, I yelled down.
"Wait!" I screamed, and then slid down the ladder, burning my hands. I felt my crossbow fall to the ground as it fell.
"Ow." I muttered, looking at my bow, making sure it wasn't broken.
"I'll come with you."
Kratos 05-03-2008, 02:53 PM (Now I feel stupid. Sorry!)
Kim jumped down and asked if she could come.
"Why not? Join the party," I muttered.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 03:06 PM (don't feel stupid)
I furrowed my brows as the number of people following me increased. It was okay, still. As long as I was getting home.
Oasis Writer 05-03-2008, 03:56 PM It was amazing what could happen in just a moments time. I had managed to disappear from the group that I had been with at dawn, long enough to hide myself in my favorite spot - the Eiffel Tower, doing the same thing I always was, scoping the area.
I had stayed here for a long while now. I was starting to give up on what was going on. The cure wasn't out there. If it was, it would have been found. If it were out there, then why wouldn't those things not kill it? Sure, it can't be infected, but that doesn't stop those things from tearing it apart.
That made me realize something.
What if the cure was in one of us!
I reached for my phone and rang the first number by memory.
No answer.
I needed to tell someone. Maybe this could be a clue. I called, and waited.
thelastblueberry 05-03-2008, 04:56 PM Charlie watched as everyone jumped out of the helicopter, down the ladder, and out of sight. Everyone seemed to be in a rush. She sat calmly, legs dangling over the side as she watched light forming at the horizon. The sun would rise soon.
Iulia 05-03-2008, 06:40 PM I could hear my breathing loud in my ears, and the heavy footsteps of the others behind me. We had been running now for almost a mile, and killed several infected along the way. The darkness was slipping away, and soon the world would be a less dangerous place. I tried not to panic, as to do so would drain my energy, but I could do little to help it. I wished I simply hadn't left her - but I really had no choice. I wondered what Roku and Kim were thinking; we hadn't spoken since the base of the ladder, and the world was silent except for beats of running and gasps for air.
My heart pounded but my energy remained high. I stood in the far back, I wasn't much for company. I was much like Brock, but at the same time I wasn't. I took in a heavy breath, and switch hands as my crossbow bared its weight on my hands. The sweat raced down my face, and I put my hand on hair. Wet with sweat. I cringed, running to catch up with Kale.
"Are we almost there?" I managed through heavy breathes.
Iulia 05-04-2008, 10:57 AM Kim seemed to be getting tired, even being as strong as she was. She was asking me if we were close, and I didn't quite know how to answer her.
"It depends on your definition of 'almost there'", I called back. "About another mile or two."
Kratos 05-04-2008, 01:08 PM Well, maybe I was insane. Actually, I probably was insane. I was helping a man I had never met find a child I'd never met in a city I'd never visited being chased by mutant-monsters.
Yeah, that would be insane.
"How much longer?" Kim asked, breathing between every word.
"About an hour," answered Kale.
She did a sort of sigh-scream and kept going. Suddenly I heard a scream. Five Infected leapt from the top of a nearby building, hissing and heading towards us, claws slashing.
"Damn..." I muttered, shooting down one and slashing the other. I turned, thinking they were dead, when the one I shot leapt up and knocked me to the ground. I shot its eye and kicked it off, just to see the other three leap at Kale and Kim.
I yelled as one fell on me, but I quickly rolled over as it attempted to bite me. I quickly grabbed my gun, shooting it in the head, but missing. I cursed in frustration as it came back my way. I kicked it in the chest, sending it falling back. I took aim at its heart, blood spattered everywhere.
I turned around just in time to see one fall behind me, as the man took his sword from its back.
"Danke." I muttered.
Iulia 05-04-2008, 03:10 PM Suddenly, infected lept out from every direction. I slashed those nearest to me with my knife, and shot a few, and Kim and Roku fought others all the while. They were skilled.
I picked up my crossbow and muttered angrily at my clumsiness.
"Heh, thanks again."
We continued for what felt like hours. The walking became easier but my lack of sleep was slowly catching up with me. We finally stopped at a building, we both looked at Kale.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 09:53 AM They looked at me as if to ask if this was it. It looked like my house, but it was quite a bit different from the way I left it. I nodded slowly, but my heart began to race as if it would burst out of my chest. The seven bolts were each one savagely broken, and the door was dilapitated. I could see into the house, which was empty. It had been empty before - there was nothing to steal but Cathleen's and my own extra set of clothes. I tried to maintain my breathing, but it was no use. I went into the house, as if searching for some clue. Only her cot remained, for I hadn't sold it, and I looked underneath it even though I could see she wasn't there. It was as if someone or something had dropped a ton onto each of my shoulders. I fell to my knees - she was gone.
I followed Kale through the building, when she stopped next to a cot. He looked under it, I could feel his terror. His child apparently wasn't there. I looked at Roku, and he looked back. Awkward. What were we to do?
I put my hand on his shoulder, "Maybe we can look for her?"
Iulia 05-05-2008, 11:10 AM "Gabh mo leithscéal," I muttered to Kim and Roku, before realizing they didn't understand. "I'm sorry," I quickly added. Kim put her hand on my shoulder.
"Maybe we can look for her?" she said. I felt a flicker of hope, but I knew it was probably in vain. Still, I had to try - I knew that from the begining, but I didn't want to slow Kim and Roku down.
"I um . . ." I began, clearing my throat. "Don't let me be an obstacle to you. I'll understand if you'd rather get back to your mission."
I looked at his face, it was drenched with despair. I could never leave him, not like this, not when there was a child on the line. I managed a smile.
"We're going to help." I said, before Roku could say anything.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 11:18 AM I tried to muster a gracious smile, but I gave up.
"Thank you," I said, for there was nothing else to say. I never knew what to do in these situations.
I gave him an awkward pat on the back. Going outside the building.
"I'll go look in the building next door" I yelled into the building, "Do you think she will trust us if we find her?" I quickly asked, as a pang of worry hit me. I was rather scary looking, my rough accent and my large crossbow. Who wouldn't run?
Iulia 05-05-2008, 12:00 PM "Tell her you know me," I said, doubtful they would find her, but this made a lot of sense. Cathleen was a smart girl, and if they said simply "I know your father", she might not be convinced. "Actually, say 'ceart go leor, I know your father.' No one else here speaks Gaelic." I said, adding the last bit as reasoning.
“Ceart go leor, Ceart go leor” I whispered to myself until I had it in my head, I couldn’t forget it. I turned the knob of the building, it was locked. No use going to check in a building she can’t get into? I turned away, just in time for my eye to catch a hole in the side of the building. Just small enough for a little girl to crawl through, to escape to. I groaned, not big enough for me though. I looked at the door, if I kicked it in, it would scare her. I looked at the lock, it was just a simple one. I took a bobby pin from my hair, and began manuevering the components that made up the lock. Suddenly it clicked, and I slowly slung the door open, dropping the pin to the floor. I quickly brought my crossbow forward, the arrow all ready in it’s place.
“Is anyone here?” I asked in a whisper, almost afraid of someone to answer. I first came upon a empty room, the carpet filthy with dirt. The sun shown through the window, just giving me enough light to see. I walked towards an open entryway, and came up a kitchen. The stove was gone, but the counters and cupboards remained, empty of course.
“Little girl?” I asked, this time in a normal talk, “Are you here?”
Nothing. Silent. I walked towards a closed door, slowly opening it. My blood ran cold. Standing, huddled behind a desk were 6 of the creatures, I looked over. The girl sat motionless on the top shelf of a closet. Her eyes were filled with terror, and she looked at me. She put her finger to her mouth, motioning for me to be quiet. In a split second I shot one of the beasts in the head, and took my gun out, dropping my crossbow to the floor. The others screamed in anger, coming my way. I shot at one as they ran forward, it fell to the ground. I dashed backwards, facing towards them and shot at their heads. Three fell, as I tripped over a something behind me.
I fell, I could smell the nauseating dying smell that came off the beast as it lunged at me, it’s teeth bared. I yelled, shooting at it’s chest as it came down on me. My heart raced as it fell limp over my body. I threw it off, and it fell with a thud next to me. I panicked, looking my body over. No bites, just blood. I quickly put my gun in it’s place, and ran towards the door. The little girl had gotten down, my crossbow in her little hands. She struggled to hold it but held it at me. I looked at myself, blood all over. I almost looked like one of the beasts. I understood her fear.
“Ceart go leor” I said putting my hands on the crossbow, and trying to give her a smile. She looked at me, and let me have my crossbow.
“Let’s get you to your father.” I said, grabbing her hand and walking her out the door.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 01:00 PM I looked frantically through the house to the right of mine. Roku had been strangely quiet and I didn't know what he was doing, but I didn't care too much. Kim, I knew, was looking in the house of my other non-existant neighbor, and I hoped she'd had more success than I was having. Another infected came at me, and I shot it non-chalantly. I was pathetic - I had no zeal left.
We walked from the building, she didn't say anything to me, just looked down. I looked inside the building where I'm assume Kale's home had been. Nothing, no one was there.
"Where are you Kale?!" I screamed. Walking towards the other home.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 01:14 PM I heard my name called - it was Kim's voice. I couldn't decipher her tone, but she didn't sound anguished. I stepped out of the building, wiping the blood and dirt from my face.
"I'm here!" I called back.
I looked at Kale, he looked almost as bad as me. I attempted a smile.
"I'm here!" he said.
The little girl looked at him, her eyes full. She quickly ran over to him and hugged his leg. I smiled, reunited.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 01:22 PM I don't think I'd ever been so relieved in my life, to see Kim walking towards me, holding Cathleen's hand. Cathleen ran towards me and wrapped her arms around my leg. I laughed out loud and picked her up. I wasn't sure what to say. So I said:
"This is Kim."
"Kim saved my life." Cathleen said, flatly.
"Thank you so much," I said, growing serious, and looking Kim in the eye.
I smiled, a genuine smile this time as I looked at the little girl and her father. Those were the days, family.
“Who wouldn’t have saved such a little cutie?” I said, with a grin, “She’s a strong little one.” I said lifting my crossbow up, “She picked this up.”
I looked down at the ground as came out way.
“We need to get out of here, get back to the others.” I grabbed my phone, “Are you coming with us Kale?” I said hopefully.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 01:37 PM I smiled down at my daughter, then at Kim. She was asking if I'd come with them, and after trying to figure whether she genuinely wanted me there or if it was out of courtesy, I decided I really didn't have another choice.
"Just thanks isn't enough," I said, growing suddenly nervous. I knew if I said what I planned to it would change my own mission, but I said it anyway. "And it just so happens I have something you're looking for too."
"And it just so happens I have something you're looking for too."
My heart raced, and I looked at him, almost suspiciously. What could he have that I was looking for?
"What exactly are you talking about Kale?" I asked, my voice steady but my heart racing.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 01:57 PM "You're looking for carriers, right?"
"You're looking for carriers, right?"
I looked at him, my breathing momentarily stopped.
"You're a carrier of the cure? One in a thousand?" I asked, my voice shaky.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 02:03 PM I took a deep breath. She seemed tense, and the last thing I wanted to do was let her down.
"All I know," I began, "is that seven years ago I was bitten by an infected. And nothing happened."
I looked at Kale, I wanted to hug him. Was he the answer to this madness? I calmed myself, and pulled out a smile.
"Kale." I finally said. I looked at his daughter, and then at him.
"You have to come with us." I said looking at Roku.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 02:10 PM I nodded, took Cathleen's hand and led her along, following Roku and Kim.
We stopped in front of Kale's home.
"I'll call for the copter to get us." I said, "I don't have much energy left in me. Been quite a while since I've gotten any sleep, and today's been a long day."
I took my phone out, and put it to my ear. I held down one, but it almost instantly went back to it's screen. No signal? I looked at the bars, zero. What the hell was going on?
"I can't get a signal." I said looking at Kale and Roku.
thelastblueberry 05-05-2008, 04:05 PM Charlie stood up and stretched, wondering what was taking the others so long. Aina had fallen asleep again and lay sprawled across the helicopter seats. Charlie looked at her sleeping form, her eyes suddenly dark and serious. After a few minutes she turned away and resumed her usual strange self. She began walking around the helicopter, inspecting it as if she knew what she was doing, then stopped when she heard noise coming from the escape ladder.
"It's aout time you guys came- wow, you're ugly!" She stepped forward to greet eevryone, only to find the gaping mouth of an infected snap a her. She jumped back, reaching for her pistols and pullng them out simultaneously. Aina stirred slightly in her sleep and Charlie moved to stand between her and the monsters.
"I know what you're thinking and it's not gonna happen beasty!" She shot the infected being in the head and watched it fall backwards. She walked forward and looked down the ladder to find two more infected climbing up. She shot both of them and placed her hands triumphanty on her hips. "Come and get me if you can!!" she yelled.
Kratos 05-05-2008, 04:39 PM "I can't get a signal."
"No signal?" I yelled. "How the hell are we supposed to get out without a chopper?"
No one answered. They just stared down at the ground.
Why aren't our cells working?
Suddenly I heard a scream from behind me. Infected were pouring through the alleyway behind us -- not exactly a strange occurence here. But these were different. They were screaming...French. They were still sane.
Iulia 05-05-2008, 06:02 PM I didn't speak much French, but I sure understood it. What I thought were infected were coming at us quickly, but their ability to speak anything fluently lead me to believe otherwise.
"What the - " I remembered the child still holding my hand and didn't finish that sentence. Instead I saved my breath and began to shoot.
I opened my eyes slowly. The world seemed to be spinning. My chest felt as if it had a heavy load on it. My breath was coming in short rasps. I grew frantic. Not now, I wanted to scream, remembering of my Mother's death, I'm not ready to die-not after surviving so long. I opned my mouth to call out for Chalie, but a pain suddenly caught hold of my heart. I screamed, and then blanked out.
(I won't be able to come online till the 20th now, so I'm in coma now, to last that town. You can do whatever you please with my body. one more trouble to add to your list.)
thelastblueberry 05-06-2008, 12:46 PM Charlie looked around and pouted when she saw no more infected beasties within the vicinity. She folded her arms across her chest and began tapping her foot. "Well this is boring." Gun shots rang in the distance and she turned towards the sound, but it was too far away for her to see anything. Then there was silence. Charlie grew impatient and began checking the ammo in her pistols when suddenly Aina began screaming. Charlie jumped around and ran towards her, but she had collapsed back into unconsciousness.
"Aina! Aina do you hear me?" She shook her as gently as she could, but Aina remained silent. "Charlie asked you a question!" she yelled pointlessly. Aina's limp body began sliding off the helicopter seats. Charlie caught her and, with surprising ease, lifted her up and readjusted her on the seats. She quickly did the basics, checked her breathing, pulse rate, etc. Everything seemed normal. There was definitely something wrong. Charlie didn't see any medical facilities nearby and she couldn't risk leaving the safety of the roof while carrying an unconscious woman. She had no choice but to wait for the others to return. She settled herself on the floor of the helicopter by Aina's head. The tune of the strange lullaby floated from Charlie's lips as she began stroking the girl's hair.
Iulia 05-06-2008, 03:38 PM (fine, I'll post)
I kind of felt bad that I was killing people in front of my six year old daughter. Still, it had to be done, if we wanted to live to get back to the helicopter. I really wasn't paying any attention to where we were before, and was just following Kim and Roku back to the building. Cathleen ran as fast as she could to keep up with our fast walking, and I picked her up, still shooting infected. Kim looked disgusted at the smell of death, and I didn't blame her at all. In fact, the entire expirience was pretty wretched.
I loaded my crossbow, shooting at one that came my way. I quickly reloaded, shooting another. I looked at the mass of them, I had no choice I would have to use my handgun. I hung the crossbow on my belt, it was heavy and awkward but I couldn’t leave it behind as we ran and shot. They were all over. I kept close to Kale, my thoughts on the child. I shot one in the head as it jumped my way, my face showed my distaste as the strong smell of death came. I fell over it’s body as something knocked me over from behind. I screamed and rolled to my side as bared teeth came my way. I shot at the beast in it’s chest three times.
My heart raced as I quickly dashed up. ****. They were everywhere.
“We need to get the hell out of here!” I screamed, as I ran at full speed, many of them on my tail.
Iulia 05-06-2008, 03:51 PM She was right. But what were we to do? We were already trying to get out, but the situation was becoming more and more urgent as the infected multiplied. I felt the collar of my shirt tighten as Cathleen clenched her fists. I patted her back and simply ran, now not even making much effort to finish infected off, but simply batting the ones trying to kill me away with my free arm.
My heart raced as I looked back at the child, I could see the fear in her eyes. I was ahead of everyone else by meters, my energy and quickness coming back to me momentarily. I looked at the building in front of me. No windows just a door. That could save us. I looked at the motorbike next to it, the car on it's side.
I ran to the door at full speed, thrusting the door open. One that came out not in. Good.
"Get inside!" I screamed as Roku and Kale made their way towards me.
They rushed in, "Go as far back as you possibly can." I screamed, worry on my face.
"Hide behind something." They ran back, the beasts seconds from us. I quickly closed the door, the best it could. I heaved the motorbike in front of the door, it had to weigh at least a ton. I kicked it over in front the door as one of the infected jumped on me. I yelled and shook it off shooting it in the head and running around the car as they jumped on it. I shot and ran trying to get to the cars other side. I watched as most of them clawed at the door, and a handful of the others growled my way.
I took my handgun, quickly reloaded my gun. I gulped as they came my way.
I backed off, my back hitting a wall. You better have gas I thought just before I took the shots at the gas tank. I quickly lunged myself behind a mailbox as I heard a loud explosion and the screaming of the beasts. I screamed with them as the mailbox flew back, hitting me. Everything went black.
Kratos 05-06-2008, 06:50 PM All hell was breaking lose. Kim collasped on the floor, while me and Kale were trying to hold off the approaching Infected. It just seemed like they kept coming and would never stop. How many of them could there be?
Suddenlt, I pulled my trigger, and nothing happened.
"Damn!" I cursed. I had run out of ammo. I pulled out my bloody katana and tried to cut back the tide of creatures, but I wasn't getting anywhere.
Iulia 05-06-2008, 08:43 PM Two for each we killed - they seemed to be multiplying and doing it fast. Kim was unconcious - I felt I had to get to her, or Roku did, to help her, but I didn't know how. Someone would have to watch Cathleen and it'd be hard enough to get to Kim alive. I felt awful when I heard her yelp but I pushed Cathleen into a small corner that was guarded by Roku and dove for Kim. She wasn't heavy, and I asumed a good bit of her weight was her crossbow. Roku still fought diligantly, although it seemed hopeless, and I hoped I didn't throw him off in passing Kim to him. I picked up my daughter and yelled:
"run!"
Kratos 05-12-2008, 05:51 AM "Screw it," I muttered, running as fast as I could, carrying Kim and following Kale. We went out to the deck and climbed up the ladder, the constant screaming of the infected below us. I noticed the chopper above us and I waved my hands and screamed for them to come down. Hopefully they'd get here before the Infected did.
thelastblueberry 05-12-2008, 09:33 AM Charlie was resting her head on the seat by Aina's head when she heard the distant cries of infected. And they were growing louder. Charlie crawled out of the helicopter and walked over to the escape ladder to find herself staring at about a hundred infected chasing the people she had come with earlier. One of them, the asian guy, seemed to be signaling her to come down.
"I'm not coming down there! Are you crazy?" she plled out her pistols from their holsters and spun them around once before pointing both of them straight towards the monsters. "You guys come up here! Charlie will hold them away from the ladder!"
She grinned and began shooting wildly towards the infected. They were just barely within her range, but she could still aim with deadly accuracy. The front row of infected crumpled to the ground, blood flowing from wounds in their head and chest. Some of the infected from behind trpped over their fallen fellows, causing a domino effect. As they struggled to get up, Charlie gave a manic war cry and then continued shooting before the infected could fully recover.
"Hurry up and get your asses up this ladder!" Charlie yelled.
Iulia 05-12-2008, 10:55 AM I waited for Roku to get up the first two steps, and then climbed on myself. I didn't know how Roku was even climbing, with Kim still unconsious, I was just glad he was.
thelastblueberry 05-12-2008, 02:31 PM Charlie stopped shooting for a moment to help the asian man with the unconscious woman's body. Charlie pulled her up onto the roof and then quickly reloaded her weapons by dropping the old cartridges and slamming in new ones that were hanging on her belt. She pointed the guns towards the recovered and advancing group of infected and began shooting again.
The helicopter came to life behind her. It seemed the German man who had been sleeping this whole time had woken up and started the engine. Charlie began backing away while still shooting. The infected were almost at the ladder.
Iulia 05-12-2008, 03:41 PM The girl with the interesting hair helped Roku up, and the helicopter started. I finished climbing the ladder and breathed a sigh of relief as I looked around to see everyone was safely in. One girl was unconcious besides Kim, however, and looking around, I saw none of us were in excellent shape. I started to laugh.
thelastblueberry 05-12-2008, 03:56 PM Charlie was still shooting at infected when one of the guys started laughing. For some reason the sound made her extremely angry. She turned her head and scowled at him.
"Why are you laughing, dumbass? Does this look funny to you?"
The infected had reached the ladder and were now fighting each other to climb up. Charlie finished off her ammo and then hopped into the helicopter.
"Let's go go gooo!!!!" she yelled while waving her arm and pointing up.
Iulia 05-12-2008, 04:01 PM The girl cursed at me and it shocked me, but it didn't kill the relief I felt.
"Don't you see?" I said, "we're fine! Everything's going to be okay." Really, I felt sorry for her, things could've been bad in the helicopter while we were gone, but I couldn't help feeling completely joyful. She was also tense, I realized - she still thought she was looking for carriers.
thelastblueberry 05-12-2008, 04:10 PM Charlie wasn't paying attention to what the man was saying. She was impatient to get into the air and find someplace where she could give Aina treatment. She began banging on the side of the helicopter. "What is taking so long?" She turned to look back at the stupid man who had just finished talking.
"Are you going to get in or do you want us to leave you for the beasties?" she nodded towards the ugly head that just appeared at the top of the ladder. Charlie slammed a new cartridge into her pistol and pointed it at the creatures. It cried in pain and fell backwards off the ladder as the bullet buried itself in its skull.
Iulia 05-12-2008, 04:14 PM I became totally serious, realizing what I was to her.
"Stop yelling, please. I am in, and only the driver can close the door." I said, calmly. "I don't know what you're talking about but - schließen Sie die Tür, bitte," I called back to Brock, hoping my German was at least understandable, since the door seemed the most of her stress. "You need to calm down." I finished in English. Cathleen had her arms crossed and her head down - she didn't dare look at the girl. The door shut slowly and mechanically.
I woke up, my chest throbbing more then anything. I groaned, and pushed myself up with my arms. My arms screamed in pain, but I ignored them, and sat on the seat. I looked over and saw Aina, unconscious. I brushed her hair from her forehead, feeling her temperature.
I checked her pulse, it seemed to be fine. I began to gently shake her, rubbing her face. She didn't wake. My eyes filled with worry.
"What's wrong with Aina?" I muttered, my chest paining as I spoke.
Iulia 05-13-2008, 08:59 AM I turned quickly, forgetting the girl as I heard Kim's voice. I walked over to the girl who was unconcious and pressed my forefinger to her wrist. Her pulse was normal, and her temperature seemed normal as well.
"Aina will be fine," I said, more surely than I felt. "Are you alright?"
"I've been better." I muttered, a pain raced through my body, making scream out. I looked at Kale, giving him a half-hearted smile, and got up. I quickly sat in the seat next to Brock. He looked at me, worry on his. He gave me a kiss on the forehead, and pointed to the blinking fuel light.
"You guys." I said, stopping momentarily to let the pain pass, "We have a problem."
Iulia 05-13-2008, 09:15 AM I felt horrible for Kim as she smiled at me, trying to tough it out. The fuel light was blinking, and Brock looked worried. I started to say "what'll we do?" but decided against it - I'd find out soon enough and I'd rather not ask questions. Instead, I said:
"We'll have to land, then."
"We'll have to land, then." I heard it, as though a haze.
I opened my eyes and looked around. Panic seized me.
"Who are you, where am I?? And most importantly, who am I?"
Iulia 05-13-2008, 09:28 AM I heard a panicked voice behind me, questioning everything that could be questioned. Aina seemed to have lost all memory - even of who she was, and it seemed that our trouble was multiplying again. I knew only her name - I wasn't the one to answer her questions.
I looked at Brock, I could hear the commotion in the back, but first things first. I motioned for him to land on a building a few blocks from our Jeeps. I knew the Copter only had so long before it would crash. He began to land and I paced to the back, sitting next to the frazzled Aina. She was awake and appeared to have lost her memory.
"Aina. That's your name. AINA." I said to her.
I looked at the girl. She seemed vaguely familiar. Like a sister or something. I reached out and brushed back the strand of hair. She didn't flinch as I though she would.
"Aina?" I asked her. "Ainadika?"
"Correct." I said, holding onto the seat tightly as the copter came down in a rough landing. I could hear Brock cursing under his breath.
"Aina, we need to get out of here, and to Charlies, and my Jeep." I said, grabbing her hand, "Do you think you can walk?" I helped her to her feet.
"Do you remember how to shoot a gun?"
I took out the gun from my leather strap. i shot at a tree in the distance. Bull's eye.
I grinned at the girl. "That should be your answer honey. And yes, I can walk fine."
Iulia 05-13-2008, 10:01 AM Aina, though her memory didn't seem all there, shot well and seemed to be okay. I didn't feel so bad for telling Kim she'd be fine when I wasn't sure. The helicopter had landed - not smoothly, granted, but it had landed.
I walked from the copter, Brock followed behind. I watched as everyone else off loaded, and I looked at Aina, afraid for her.
"I will take lead, everyone follow me. I'll have to take as leader for the time being." I mumbled, knowing Aina wasn't in the proper condition.
"We'll have to be fast. I'm sure we'll find Aaron around the Tower." I said pointing in the direction of the Eiffel Tower. You could see the top of it not far off, we were pretty close. I suddenly realized I didn't have my crossbow, and ran to the copter. I looked all around and under the seats. I had left it behind. I cursed under my breath.
"Let's go." I muttered, as we started down the street.
Iulia 05-13-2008, 10:09 AM The Eiffel Tower was pretty nearby. I knew nothing about Aaron, but figured I'd meet him soon enough. Cathleen ran to keep up, holding tightly to the bottom of my shirt. I killed an infected with my knife. I avoided shooting in case the noise might arouse more infected, and the street was strangely clear - we may as well take advantage of it.
I walked forward, as we walked in a closed group, everyone had their guns out. We turned down the second street, just one more block until we got to the cars. No infected in site, slightly unnerving.
We turned the corner, the jeeps were in sight, but so were the mass of infected that hid behind the jeeps. I frowned, but luckily for us, they were asleep, and didn't seem to take notice of us yet.
Iulia 05-13-2008, 10:30 AM I refrained from cursing and pulled my daughter closer as I saw the infected. They slept near the jeeps, and we had two choices. We could shoot, and wake them up, or we could try to make a run for it and let the engines wake them. There was no sign of Aaron, unless he was an infected, and I hoped we'd soon find him. I hate this place.
I looked around. This placed seemed strangely familiar. and then i saw them.
The fraggled, alienatic bodies, those people. I knew who they were. Memories started overcoming me like flashbacks.
*Mommy don't leave, I want you.
Honey I'm not leaving.
yes you are and she did.*
*I love you, please stay. She'd cried.
I am, I'm gonna stay forever. He'd promised.
Next morning he'd been found dead on one of the streets.*
My head started spinning. And then I blacked out.
Iulia 05-13-2008, 10:46 AM There was no warning, no yell, she just fell to the ground. Brock picked her up, and we kept walking. Cathleen looked up at me with wide eyes.
"Is she okay, daddy?"
"She'll be okay," I mumbled, once again unsure. Cathleen looked ahead again, expressionless, as if she'd worn out her fear. I was only glad the infected still slept, but I started when one began to stir, and I brought out my gun.
Brock held the unconscious Aina in his arms, and gave me a look of pure unhappiness. I looked at everyone else, and smiled at the seemingly fearless child.
"We'll have to try and get into the Jeeps, be as quiet as you possibly can." I whispered, as we stopped just 50 feet from the parked Jeeps.
"I'll drive one, and I want Brock to drive Charlies." I said, "I'm not in the condition to be able to shoot, and Brock is one hell of a driver." I thought of my lost crossbow, but quickly shook it off.
We all began to pace, slowly and silently towards the jeeps. I watched as Roku jumped in to Charlie's without any problem. I quickly followed suit, jumping in the front seat. I took the child from Kale and sat her in the seat next to me. He crawled over me, sitting at the window with the child on his lap. Brock was in the front of Charlie's Jeep, with Charlie in the back, ready to fight.
I nodded at Brock, and we both started out engines.
thelastblueberry 05-13-2008, 02:48 PM Charlie stayed silent as the group made their way down the street towards the jeeps. She didn't bother glancing at the infected and wasn't paying attention to the conversation. Her eyes never left Aina, watching her every movement, listening to her every word. She wasn't surprised at the memory loss. After all, Aina didn't seem to even remember Charlie. Even though they had been so close...
With no warning at all, Aina collapsed. Again. Charlie jumped forwad to catch her but Brock beat her to it. She silently gave him the evil eye as he carried Aina over to the jeeps. The woman they called Kim announced that Brock would be driving Charlie's jeep. Good, she could shoot more beasties that way. She would never let them get their filthy hands on Aina. Not her Aina.
Charlie hopped into the only empty seat left in the back of her jeep and pulled out her pistols. She checked to make sure her ammo was loaded and then glanced over her shoulder at Kim in the other jeep. The engines rumbled to life and the infected began to stir.
I slammed my foot on the gas pedal, and we took off. Brock was faster, speeding in front of me. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder and I yelled as an infected held on to me and the car, fighting to get in. I quickly hit it with the end of my gun, as it fell to the road, its body twisting. I cursed as I saw a rough turn up ahead, and at these speeds it was going to be hard.
“Hold on!” I yelled. The car gave a violent turn, jerking everyone in the car to the left with a bang.
“Sorry.” I muttered. I looked at Charlie’s jeep and laughed inside. His turn had been perfect. Man could he drive. The sounds of shooting and the falling of bodies filled my ears as I sped down the road. I took another turn, slowing just in time to smooth this one out.
My mouth went wide in shock as I took in the spectacle in front of me. There were hundreds of the infected surrounding the Eiffel Tower. I could see some of them climbing it, with Aaron on the very top shooting at them.
Iulia 05-13-2008, 03:46 PM Ah. This must be Aaron - the man stood at the very top, shooting quickly at infected which surrounded him. Sure, he looked quite theatrical, but no one person, no matter how strong or skilled could take all these.
I rammed the car into the group of the infected. I could feel a few trying to cling onto the car as it pulled off. Some stood on the hood, but only were able to stay there for a few minutes. I saw Aaron climbing down the side with the least amount of infected. I took out my gun, and shot at them hoping to help him get down.
We arrived at the side of the tower, and he jumped down, barley landing in the back seat of my jeep.
“Welcome back.” I yelled back, trying to be heard over all the commotion. I sped forward, hitting a group that had surrounded us while I slowed down momentarily.
“Anyone have any explosives?” I yelled, as the jeep fought its way through the infected.
Iulia 05-14-2008, 11:50 AM Kim was asking for explosives. I raised an eyebrow, doubtful that anyone had anything of the sort. That's when Cathleen, of all people, reached into the pocket of her dress and pulled out a stick of dynamite. I stared at her a moment, speechless and wide-eyed as she handed it to Kim. Then I wondered when she got it - I remembered the safe, the one I didn't even know she knew about.
"You're just full of surprises, aren't you?"
I looked at the little girl momentarily, taking the dynamite from her, and quickly looking back at the mass of infected as the jeep rammed through them.
“I have C3.” I heard Aaron say, as he handed a large block to Kale. I handed him the dynamite.
“There’s tape in the glove compartment, put those two together. We’ll need them soon.” I could see we were getting close to exiting the massive group, but unless we did something they would still follow persuit.
Iulia 05-14-2008, 12:32 PM Aaron also had explosives, and I flinched when he handed a large block of C3 to me. Kim was talking about tape and combining the two and I started to brace myself for a large explosion.
I gave a sigh of relief as we finally got out of the crowd of the infected, but they were quick on our tail. Brock sped up next to us. I pointed to the explosives and he shook his head. Speeding ahead of us. We took a turn, sending the space between us and the infected larger. I took out my cigarette lighter and lit the dynamite. I quickly grabbed the combined explosives and heaved them at the turn. I sped the car up as fast as it could go, rubber burning on my tires.
I threw my body over Kale and the girl as the powerful explosion tossed the car to it’s side. The sides of the buildings around us fell and crumbled. I moaned, the pain immense in my all ready bruised and battered body.
“Everyone okay?” I mumbled, the pain of speaking caused me to yell out in pain.
Iulia 05-14-2008, 12:54 PM There was a huge explosion, and I blacked out for a moment. When I came to, Kim was asking if everyone was alright. I nodded, though I felt as if something heavy was crushing my ribs. Kim looked battered and hurt. Aina was still unconcious. Charlie was staring off into space, and Brock and Aaron were struggling to stand up from the rubble. Cathleen was bruised, but she looked okay, all in all. I stopped thinking a moment to realize I wasn't breathing. It was a bad time for an asthma attack. I drew in a long breath, and started to gasp. I sounded awful, but I didn't want to cause any trouble.
Kratos 05-30-2008, 01:34 PM "Damn..." I muttered. My head hurt like crap. I rubbed it and opened my eyes. Me and all the rest of the gang were huddled together, but it was dark, and I had no clue where we were.
"What happened?" I asked. When the saw I came to, they looked at me. Suddenly their eyes filled with fear.
"What?" I asked. They pointed at my hand. Their was a large...bite mark. And the skin around it...was Infected.
Iulia 05-31-2008, 04:48 PM Roku was staring down at his hand when I started to calm my breathing and looked up. Something had bitten him - I knew what it was, but I couldn't bring myself to realize it. I remembered my unexplainable horror when I realized I'd been bitten - and I remembered watching someone turn. It was the worst sight in the world. I gasped again, and tried to focus.
I panicked as I got up. Kale was on his side, his breathing was difficult. I ran over to him and gently rubbed his chest.
“C’mon buddy.” I said, “Try and breath.” I wasn’t sure what to do, I only wished we had a paper bag.
I looked in my bag and found an old paper bag that had once been wrapped around some bread. I quickly put it in his hands.
“C’mon, breathe out of this.” I knew it was cliché, but it was the only thing I could think of.
Iulia 05-31-2008, 04:55 PM Kim was handing me a paper bag. I took it, and took a few deep breaths into it.
"Don't mind me -" I struggled to say, "Roku." And then I went back to my breathing.
Kratos 05-31-2008, 05:01 PM I shuddered as I felt a pain spike through my body. My arm felt dead, but pain radiated from it. I began to sweat, and my eyes rolled into the back of my head. The Infected part spread, my fingernails elongating and sharpening.
"Gaaaahhhhh!" I screamed. "Help me!!"
My vision blurred, and blood poured from my mouth as the others looked on in horror.
I ran towards Roku, as his sword fell to his side. I could tell he was in pain.
“Maybe we can save you, we’ll have to cut off that arm though.” I said, trying not to get to close. He nodded through the pain and blood. I quickly grabbed his sword. My heart raced, I knew this would hurt him badly.
I aimed, and closed my eyes as I swung with all my might. He yelled out and I dropped the sword as I saw his infected arm fall to the ground. I quickly took the bandages from my bag, and grabbed the alcohol.
“This’ll hurt even more.” I said, my eyes full of worry as I grabbed what was left of his limb. I quickly threw some of the alcohol on the wound and he screamed in pain. I could see the tears falling from his eyes. I didn’t want to feel what he felt. I quickly bandaged his stump up.
“You’ll need Kale’s blood, to stop that infection completely. It’s only going to be slowed down now.” I said, getting up.
Iulia 05-31-2008, 06:38 PM I was breathing fine now, and I looked over at my daughter. Her eyes were as wide as saucers and I wished she wouldn't see what was happening. I took out my knife, hearing what they said.
"How much do you need?"
Kratos 06-01-2008, 06:28 AM It was the most horrifying time of my life. I screamed in agony as my own blade cut off the arm of its master. It was my left hand, though, which means if I survived this I could still fight. My vision dimmed to almost darkness, and I heard voices. Suddenly another pain, even worse than the first erupted through me and I blacked out.
When I came to, Kale was sitting next to be, pale and covered with bandages.
"Thanks..." I managed to croak out. He nodded.
I tried to move my arm, but there was nothing left but the stump.
Iulia 06-01-2008, 10:40 AM When Roku came to I had bandaged my wrist and was watching him intently. He seemed traumatized, but I wasn't good in these situations. Cathleen didn't say a word, she just held onto my right arm, with her eyes closed, but she wasn't asleep. I felt sick for Roku - but, if he survived, he was the first of those who'd been cured.
My hands were shaking as I saw him fall to the ground. I quickly went to him, regret in my eyes.
"How much do you need?" Kale asked. I looked over at him as he took out his knife.
I wasn't sure, and I wasn't sure how this would work. I knew it would be awkward transferring blood without the proper tools. I stood back and watched as he awkwardly gave his blood.
Within the hour Roku woke up. I waited impatiently, knowing it would be dark within hours.
"We have to get out of here." I said finally, as he got up, "I know you're both in pain, but we really need to go. We could get refuge in that hospital momentarily." I felt bad pushing Roku in his condition, but I knew it was needed.
I helped Roku to his feet, his body was shaking from the pain.
"We'll probably be able to find something for that pain in the hospital."
Kratos 06-01-2008, 06:30 PM I lurched to my feet, my entire body radiating with pain.
"Kami! Shuushi za itami! Kami" I cried, my native tongue slipping out.
"I need...stop...the pain..." I collapsed, and all went black.
Iulia 06-01-2008, 07:34 PM Roku yelled out in Japanese, and fell to the ground. Cathleen dove to his side.
"Roku!" She yelled, "iachall a chur ar dhuine rud a dhéanamh!" She was upset, tears falling down her cheeks as if somehow the emotion suddenly hit her.
"Somebody do something," I translated, pulling her aside. "How far is the hospital?"
My heart raced as I looked at them both. I yelled for Brock to come and he did. He was badly hurt, but I know he wouldn't say anything. He quickly picked up Roku, putting him on his back. The man was out cold.
"Go!" I yelled. We all ran after Brock, who was running full speed. I knew we were all tired, but Roku's life was at stake. He turned the corner as I fell behind. My aching body was running a toll on me. I turned the corner and I noticed why he had yelled. He was defenseless with Roku on his back, and there were at least 10 of the infected near the entrance of the Hospital. I pulled out my gun.
Iulia 06-01-2008, 07:54 PM I was tired of fighting - but we would do whatever had to be done. I followed Kim's example and pulled my gun.
Three consecutive shots left my gun as I aimed for the head. All direct hits, the others took care of the remaining as I saw them come down without much of a fight. I sighed and ran in after Brock who was all ready inside the Hospital. Kale and his daughter ran in front of me as my aching body caused me to momentarily stop. I was throbbing everywhere, and my breathing was limited from my chest pains. I put my hands on my knees and bent over heaving.
I looked up at the sky, and brought myself back to reality. I needed to get in there. I ran in, my gun held out. Kale and Brock were sitting in the waiting chair seats with Roku lain out of a few of them, waiting for me.
"Let's get a room secured. I'll go find the antibiotics and painkillers." I said running off, my nerves high and my gun in front of me.
Iulia 06-01-2008, 08:06 PM "Are you alright, Kim?" She seemed okay, but something lead me to ask.
I looked back, and smiled.
"Of course." I lied. I quickly went forward, walking around the hall. My feet echoed eerily. I looked from room to room, my gun held out. It was creepy to see an empty hospital. At one |
