Misven the run away Peace was an odd feeling, and a rare one, but as of right now he felt it wash over him like an ocean wave on a tranquil beach. Who knew getting in trouble could lead to such bliss. Luke opened his eye’s and took in the orange sun reflecting of Damas river, so large and still it looked more like an ocean. Better yet not a ship in site, just him the soothing waters, and the warmth of a waning sun. Suspension was a beautiful punishment, who ever thought of it must have really liked kids. Fay had somehow got him off with only a mild consequence, no explosion, just a week off by him self. “If this is to make me think about my actions in some remorseful way, then I may just do it again.” He closed his eye’s again, content to stay here for ever if he could. A shattering scream ripped him from his tranquil state deafening in tone his ears cried out in pain and his blood chilled at the sound. So horrific, so loud was it even possible for a mortal to scream so awfully? It droned on for about ten seconds the deafening cry turning the heads of distant people until it suddenly stopped. Luke sprung to his feet and instantly headed towards the source of the sound, someone was in trouble no doubt, no trouble was not the right word, someone was about to die, he knew, he had heard that sound before, it is the sound of a soul last attempt at defying death, it’s last protests against a violent end. The sound came from down the beach, and as he ran his mind flashed back to one thing, that horrible night, he pushed it out of his mind but like a resurrected corpses it sprung back reminding him of long buried horrors. He used his fear, his sorrow to push his legs faster, harder then he ever had. Rounding a rocky bend he came upon the source of the scream, a mer child surrounded by three other merfolk. It was unexpected, he stopped his dashing and stared trying to get a sense of the situation. Three mers, all warriors, all full grown men, surrounding one mer child? Since when did mers fight there own? For a moment a thought graced his mind, leave them, this is not a land dwellers business. But as one warrior reached for her fragile throat, the thought vanished like mist in the noon day sun replaced by an over powering urge, he dashed forward releasing a savage shout he yelled. “Don’t you bastards fucking touch her!” He weaved and literally threw three undead skeletons at them shooting them out of his weave, the three mers leaped back a frighten and taken by surprise. One fumbled his blade, it dropped and he was hit by the skeletons boney fist, a resounding crack could be heard but from the skeleton or the mer one could not tell. In a panic the three warriors leaped into the ocean and disappeared beneath the waves. It was just him and the mer child now, and for a minute they just took steady breaths, holding there chest as the events replayed them self's in their young minds, slowly the trauma left them, and they noticed each other. She was small, 10 years old at most with hair that went only a little ways past her ears; which where graced with fin like projections, the strangeness of the girl was just sinking in as he approached her with the three bone men in tow, light blue skin wrapped on a thin soft body replaced on her lower half with a long eel like tail. But for all her strangeness, there was something bewitching about her, he couldn’t explain it, it wasn’t lust, she was too young to evoke that, another feeling something like that but different, more subtle. Suddenly he became aware of his awkward staring, he blushed. “Sorry, are you okay?” “Thanks to you land dweller I am, but they may return, please can you take me further in land? They won’t follow me too far into human territory.” Luke jogged up to her and scooped her up in his arms, smooth, her skin was very smooth almost silk, and she was very soft to touch, he feared if he squeezed too hard she may pop. Hurriedly he dashed back down the beach, night was falling and Damiruu was ablaze with ethereal lights. “So strange.” She suddenly stated. “Pardon?” “Land dwellers look, so strange.” She was studying him, looking into his eye’s the same way he had done to her, amazed, even a little excited. “Your not afraid of my necromancy, I noticed you haven't even mentioned it. You are strange your self, and very brave, who are you?” “Misven, Misven Seranade and you?” “Luke, my last name doesn’t matter.” He reached the edge of the beach were sand met road and for lack strength put her down to rest, he was sweating from all the effort and wouldn’t dare look back at how far he had managed to carry her, lest he reminded him self how weak he was. Misven chuckled lightly “just, give me a moment.” He said panting, I’ll carry you to, a pool or something.” As he spoke something soft and wet met his lips, a second of bliss passed before he leaped back in surprise. “Something the matter?” Misven asked innocently tilting her head. “Why did you kiss me, I..I mean I didn’t mind it just…” his tongue twirled in his mouth but no more logic came out, just stutters and mumbles. A light laughter filled the air holding her belly the little mer fell over shaking from a hearty laugh, “Human beings are odd aren’t they, mother was right, so flustered from just a thank you.” “Thank you?” “Ya silly what did you think it meant? Hehe, I like you, your weird.” Luke frowned, she was making fun of him now. “Oh ya? Well normal people don’t say thank you by kissing, we just say thank you. It’s you mers that are the weird ones.” Misven slapped her tail on the sand and flicked some grains at him playfully, her whole demeanor changed to something care free , as if the traumatic events of only a few minutes ago had never happened. “Hey, can you show me around the human world? I wanna see a tree! Oh and fire, I want to see fire!” “Wait, slow down um…Misven, why were those men aft-“ “Whats that!” She exclaimed pointing. “it’s just a balloon, can we get back on-“ “And that!” she pointed again then suddenly weaving a spell, water came under her carrying her towards the startled looking airmid carrying home a bag of food. The river of water under her sped forward leaving a flustered Luke playing catch up with the hyper active mer child. “Um..can I help you?” The Airmid stood still as Misven looked him over studying him as a child would a curious bug. “So…weird.” “Excuse me?” “I said your weird!” Misven began laughing again. “I’m sorry she’s with me! She doesn’t mean it!” Luke managed to say through heaving lungs, bent over he took a moment to catch his breath, “misven, Apologize now…huh?” She was gone, a trail of water lead to another scream. “Damn it!” Luke ran after leaving the airmid perplexed and a little bothered. “My dress! You soaked my dress!” “Hey! Humans can come in female form too! Didn’t know that!” Misven was at it again, she had gone nuts with discovery, before Luke could even reached the infuriated woman with the soaked gown Misven was off again! “Sorry, sorry, she doesn’t no better, Misven stop!” She froze just short of trying to taste a lit match, “What…hey is this fire whats it taste like?” Nox corrupted the enchanted water under her, it collapsed back into regular water and she dropped back down helplessly on the ground. “Hey!” Luke then turned back to the starring eye’s and annoyed frowns, “Sorry, sorry, she’s crazy, off her therapy magic. You know how it is.” And with that he scooped her up and was running again. …. “Faster two legs! Giddie up!” Luke was on the verge of collapse, he had carried her all the way to the base of the academy, very old and unused steps lead thousands of feet up to the actual building, but with the taming of windseers they had not been used in centuries, a perfect place to hide things. “Is two legs tired? It’s okay, you can have a carrot!” “I have a name.” Luke snapped getting annoyed, “Now will you shut up?” “Well you don’t have to be mean about it, if you don’t want to play just tell me.” “We were never playing, you just went off!” Luke carried her past the worn staircase and to a deep pool of water beside it, carefully he slipped her in, then sat down exhausted. *Sniff, sniff.* “Hmm? Hey whats wrong?” She was starting to cry a little, Luke sat up feeling awkward, looking around futilely for any sort of help. “Look I’m sorry for blowing up on you, don’t cry okay, I hate it when girls cry, look I’ll make it up to you how's that?” “It’s not that.” She sniffled, “I’m just, stressed I’m far from home, from my family with no food no money, no where to go, in a world that I don’t understand. And now, now you’ll leave me alone, and I don’t know what I’ll do!” “I’m not going to leave you alone!” He said appalled by the very thought. “Really?” “Of course not, Why would you think that? I’ll visit you everyday, I’ll bring bread, toys and fire and all the things you wanted to see on the surface. Eventually I’ll help you get back to your home, and away from those who would do you harm. I’m not like most land dwellers, I despise those who trample on the weak, I hate the strong But, we really need to work on your people skills. Also, you need to tell me what's going on, why those men were chasing you If I don’t know I can’t help.” Misven beamed at him, her tears still flowed but the source was no longer despair, but joy. She swam up to him and wrapped her arms around him. “Hey Misven careful-Whoa!” With a splash he was dragged in by her over zealous hug, he resurfaced looking even skinnier then he already was, and none too amused. “Sorry, I’m just so happy, I have been alone for a very long time.” “I wonder why?” said sarcastically at he struggled out of the pool to Misvens giggles. “All right Misven, I’ll be back tomorrow, just hang tight okay, no one should come down here but if they do hide. You got that.” Misven nodded, and Luke began to walk away. “Oh Luke I...
Why don't you go outside and play with the other kids?" A pale faced boy sat by his room window staring at the children playing below, his clothes were about as well kept as an uncastable, old and ragged, he was thin beyond reason and as usual he had that bored expression on his face. In the small boarding room, A young woman stood over him, her arms were crossed but her demeanor was by no wise harsh, just concerned. Eye brows knitted, mouth tilted in a display of disapproval. The boy said nothing in response, just brushed stray black hair away from his face. "Luke... your never going to make friends by sitting in your room all day, or by resurrecting spiders on your spare time, why don't you try being friendly, weave something cheery, how about a game of spell pop?" "I'm perfectly nice Fay, they aren't how ever," Luke responded darkly.Fay sighed shaking her head. seemingly giving up she headed out of his room."Although..." his voice stopped her advance, she looked back at him hopefully, those bright yellow eye's so common among her people boring into him. Luke wished he could gaze at them for an eternity, but quickly looked away in a bout of sudden shyness. "I...guess I could try a game of spell pop with one of them." He said with a hint of optimism her face brightened and soon Luke was suffocating under an over zealous hug. "PROGRESS!" She yelled spinning him around in her embrace. "Your finally coming out of your shell." "Fay..please, I'm not a baby and your suffocating me." She held him out at arms length, she was strong for a girl granted she was much older and he, and he was by no means heavy. "Why must you treat me like a doll?" "cause your cute with your whole loner wolf nonsense, you need a little love, now go outside and play nice with the other kids, don't come back till you make a friend got it?" he looked away from her bright face, but nodded. Luke waved back to fay as he descended down the long hall way passing the various dorm rooms, most of which housed the laughter of hopeful youths, over head he approached the marvelous golden and marble sign that graced every door in this place, it's marvelous letters read. Damrian royal Acadamy of eather and science. "Well i guess even the best school in all of Exzalia would have it's share of asses," he muttered and he opened the door to the wide world outside. The sun nearly blinded him the moment he set foot outside his dark dorm room, the sounds of laughing children flooded his ears, the air was cool taking the sting out of exzalias intense sun, blowing gently across the Academy. Over him the colorful streaks of windseers zoomed across the sapphire sky, there long brightly colored bodies glowing in the day light. he looked out to the horizen, Damiruu in all it's glary stretched out infront of him, a massive kingdom made of towering white and gold buildings, some of which touched the clouds and beyond. What he would not give to be here alone, just to behold a sunset on top of this grand peak which the school now stood. Away from judging eye's and scornful words "Look who came out of his hole." His thoughts were interrupted by a brazen voice. It was the half elf again, not that he mind half elves hell he him self was one, but this guy. Luke tensed, he bundled his fist in a trembling ball. I'm not looking for trouble." he said calmly. "Of course not, you are trouble." The the half elf responded, his bright warm skin and short but well kept orange hair seemingly reflected their enmity, they were as different as night and day. "You tell him Naven, Necromancer!" someone spat in the crowed spat. at that word all the kids in hearing range stopped what they were doing and started at him, things were going bad, fast. Luke and Naven stared each other down, the tension rose like temperature on a hot summer day, another young boy began to jitter a little eager to witness the on coming fight. "would you...like to play a game of spell pop?" Luke said awkwardly. Silence followed, the kids stared at him dumbfounded. "well?" "Hmm, you challenging me to a game of spell pop? I'll have you know I'm the champion, I don't want to waste time on a nox user like you." "sounds to me your just scared, does my necromancy scare you that much?" Luke, grinned as the taunt struck Naven like a sword, suddenly getting angry he pointed his finger at Lukes chest and yelled. "I ain't scared of a scrawny pathetic excuse for a mage like you!" ........ Fay stretched and wiped her brow, looking back at the dorm room she smiled contently, clean as a whistle. her eye's drifted to the window, below her on the play ground Luke and Naven squared off surrounded by a group of cheering students. "He's making friends already." She said smiling, then went back to cleaning. ...... "Naven goes first. let the game begin!" a student called. Naven pointed his hand in the air and streams of light rushed towards him, they seemed to flow in from no where, little bits of light coming together making a steady stream. It collected around his fingers and then, he released it! it spun then twirled, exploding in a dazzling array of light, bright golden brown rays fell on everyone like the sun it's self. The boys cheered the girls fawned, Naven stood there looking proud. "My turn." Luke took his stance on leg in front of the other, hands outstretched, like naven light seemed to flow towards him in streams, But unlike Navens it was a dark light, one that acted more like a mist than a river. Gently flowing, the collected in his hand. "corruption." he muttered and the black river shot out at the rivers of light, upon contact they stained Navens beautiful work black and like an angry cloud rained down the dark shadows like upon the surrounding children. "Eww, Nox is all over me." A girl whined wiping the darkness off her. The others seemed equally un amused. "huh, you call that beautiful? more like gross, looks like I win this one, you fail to even top that spell pop." Naven said proudly. "Your wrong." Luke said calmly, "Nox is just as beautiful as Althea, all the eathers are equal, what's more winning at spell pop it determined by two things, the skill of the weaver, and the beauty of the weave to the audience. They might not of liked it, but I completely countered and changed your eather, this round goes to -." "What's that? I can't here you over all the winning I'm doing!" Naven interrupted getting close to Luke and putting his hand over his ear mockingly, then he raised his arms in the air and strutted drawing more cheers from the others. Luke rolled his eye's. "you don't even follow the rules of your own game." he muttered. "he's right you know." a voice sounded from with in the crowd. the dark eather that hung over them began to fade letting through the bright sun once again, Luke winced from the sudden light as another student approached. When he eye's adjusted he suddenly began to blush, his tongue tide, he became speechless. It was Vava. Vava stared at Naven looking annoyed, "although Nox is the most deplorable eather, he completely countered your spell, Luke wins this round." "Vava baby, why you have to be like that?" Naven said slyly getting close to her, he too was blushing at her presence. A high elf, they always had an unexplainable beauty to them, even their children. Luke looked away from the golden haired, blue eyed wonder. "Don't call me baby." Vava said sternly, "I may not have know all your human slang, but I know what that human term means, I have lived in Damiruu long enough to learn, now admit defeat or go to round two." Vava crossed her arms glaring, beautiful yes, but full of thorns two she was far more then just a pretty elf. Luke liked that. "Fine, for you babe." Naven turned back to Luke frowning, "try and top this!" Naven hands began to sway, then circle as more of the shining eather flowed towards him his eye's shut close as he focused his weave, the eather spun and twirled dancing frantically before collapsing together in a dazzling light. The students covered their eye's and when they were finally able to look Naven had wings! they were wings of light, each feather finally crafted as if he had taken a fine needle and made each strand him self, they unfolded and hovered over them displaying all his skill at the art of weaving. Luke scoffed. "impressive, but impracticable, you could never fly with those flimsy things." Naven crossed his arms and angrily stared at him. "It's spell pop you dunce, spells don't need to be practical! Now just try to corrupt it, or make something better." They all gazed at Luke expecting him to fail. Luke nervously looked down at his shoe's. "I can't beat that it's true, but, I can't back down now, not in front of..." he looked over at Vava the only person who did not seem completely disgusted with him. "A possible friend? maybe if I can impress her enough, use my most powerful weave, show her just how skilled I really am, maybe she will be, maybe even...more then friends?." "Whats wrong? oh wait I know, you just realized how hopeless you are!" Naven began to laugh, mocking him. he pointed and laughed like a devil, forcing it even when he no longer found it funny just to humiliate him. Suddenly and with out warning Luke exploded with eather, Nox flowed out in black waves, washing against the groups feet. It shut up Navens laughter as Luke began to display all he had to offer. his hands moved in complex patterns, he even began to move his legs, almost dancing with his own eather, like two performers on a stage. his movements mirrored how he felt inside, a desperate yearning for acceptance and affection, feelings he ignored before were spurred on by a spark of hope. Why would Vava the most attractive and desirable girl in school defend him of all people? could it mean? he poured his mind his thoughts his very soul into this one spell, it was more then just a game now, it was his chance, his one chance. Finally he stopped his rhythmic...

What does Exzalia look like? Some parts look like earth, many parts look nothing like anything you have seen! the eather carves out strange landscapes. Large pillars of rock coming in all sorts of shapes are a common feature on Exzalia. They jut out of the ground, some making mile long loops in the sky. Others hover far above the clouds, whole continents a drift. Some landscapes aren't land at all, like the mountain forests of Lore are rumoured to actually be on the back of a giant tortuous named Gaia. Other lands have massive eather spasms in them making strange anomalies like no solid land for miles, glass oceans, or natural land bridges so high and so long, it would take a life time to cross. There is an infinite amount of land scapes on Exzalia, and the world always spawns more. An example of one is this. North of Tesra lay the Telbron swamps, an influx of water eather means these lands see continual rain. It never stops raining here, even when the sun manages to poke its head out behind the blanket of clouds it is always raining. No humans live here and there are little plants, the soil is to water logged for that. Instead this land scape is a maze of mud and mountain, overflowing rivers that carve huge canyons and valleys of rock and water. The air is cool and unreasonably moist; lakes dot the land. The Telborn swamps suck up the water like a sponge so even though it always rain here, the land never gets flooded it simply gets muddy.
Count your selfs lucky travellers, for you are the very first outsiders to gain a glimpse of the world that is, EXZALIA! This first in a long number of tales, is a short story that will get you acquainted with some of the mechanics of this world. And hopefully, get you excited to unlock the mysteries, experiences the horrors and the wonders of this, never ending world. Exzalia is a strange and never ending world. Chaotic energies flow from its core affecting all who call this world home. Energy called aether; which can warp reality at a whim. I have traveled this world all my life and have only covered a fraction of its immense surface. I have seen many things, but few as strange as this. Many years ago I arrived at the mountain city of Tesra located in the massive human kingdom of Lore. I myself am only part human my mother being one of the merclan. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of traveling all of Exzalia; studying and documenting the strange events that happened here daily. On this particular day as I walked through the sun swept city filled with all manner of strange beasts and mounts I came across an alarming sight. A human was tucked in behind a wall peeping out only to keep track of who he was following. His black hair and sapphire blue eye’s betrayed him as a Lorian, but his actions were cause for concern. In the middle of broad day light this suspicious rather thin looking fellow seems to be stalking a child no more than 12. It would do no good to jump to conclusions so I did not call him out, I did however watch. The girl was a very pretty one with black hair and sapphire blue eye’s however most interesting was not how she looked but how she acted. She had a glazed look in her eye’s, she walked without purpose and her face showed little expression. All in all she looked miserably bored and a little sad. She slowly moved away from the produce she was inspecting and traveled down a gently sloping hill. Her stalker making sure no one was watching slipped away. But I saw where he went and my gut told me something was not right. The mountain city over looked a vast jungle and a dangerous one. Strange beasts roamed under its gentle canopy and only the really adventurous like my good self would dare enter and yet, towards the jungle she went with all the confidence of a hungry dragon. To my surprise her follower seems to have the same intention and it was there that I decided to put a stop to it. Against city rules I weaved a spell and fired a trail of lightning right in front of the creep. He jumped letting out a yelp and nearly falling over. “Hold it right there!” I commanded Storming down the road He blushed wildly looking around as if trying to find a place to hide. “All right buddy I have seen you so don’t act innocent.” I said pointing my finger accusingly at him. “W-whatever are you speaking of?” he said looking flustered. I walked right up to him stared him in the eye’s. His domineer was not one of defiance but of fear a pathetic stance he was in, blushing uncontrollably, looking to the side like a shy school girl I almost felt bad for him, almost. I got up in his face and said. “You’re a pervert aren’t you?” I might of well said the world was ending; the sheer panic in his eye’s was almost laughable. Sticking his lanky hands out and shaking them desperately he said “No it’s not like that! I swear!!!!!” “Lair, you want to get in her pants don’t ya?” “What? NO!!!” he was getting even more flustered. I scoffed “You know what? I’m sending up a panic spell bomb, Once the guards arrive you’ll be fed to a hungry Rackdon.” I began weaving the panic spell bomb, but he weaved faster and countered my spell before I finished it. “Oh you little horn dog you’re in for it now.” I jumped back and readied myself. “I challenge you to a duel!” “Huh? Wait I don’t want to fight. Please liste…” “EAT LIGHTNING!!!!!!” I yelled and blasted him with a beam of red lightning, or at least that’s what I tried to do. He was skilled at manipulating aether and countered my spell again causing me to instead shoot a beam of foam. “Hold on!” he pleaded, and with great speed tackled me to the ground. “Ahhh un hand me you horn dog! I will not be your play thing!” “Will you listen to me!” He yelled so loudly a passing wind seer looked down from above looking slightly scared. An awkward silence followed, a lazy looking beast carrying radish lumbered by. “well horn dog? I’m listening and…you can get off now.” We sat on a nearby bench watching humans passed us by on their way home riding their beasts. There was a few airmids among the traffic their feathers adding colour to the otherwise black haired blue eyed crowd. “All right horn dog explain yourself.” “I’m not a horn dog and I have a name, it’s Vash.” He replied looking annoyed. “Fine.” I said “so tell me pervert, why were you following that little girl.” “I said stop calling me that!” “I’m sorry my Lorian must be a little rusty; I thought you said not to call you horn dog pervert. Or am I mistaken?” He rolled his eye’s looking annoyed but still flustered. For a moment we watched more humans on their beasts rushing home, it was evening and Exzalias sun was slowly turning into its moon; orange light slowly turning blue, warm wind turning cool. Finally pervert horn dog…er I mean Vash spoke up. “I don’t blame you for assuming I had wrong intentions, it’s true that I do love that girl bu…” “EWWWWWWWWWWW, you nasty.” I wrinkled my nose and made a disgusted face. “Can I finish? You’re a very rude little merclan child you know that.” “I’m only rude to people who can’t keep their hormones in their pants. But Fine, finish your defence” “That girl.” He continued “I knew her when I was only 5. She saved me from drowning in a river, since then I think I’ve liked her. you se…” “Wait, hold up, stop the dragon. Did you just say she saved you when you were FIVE! You’re at least twenty.” I paused to do the math counting with my fingers. “She shouldn’t have even been born! I knew you were just a sleez bag I just knew it!” “But it’s the truth! She saved me when I was five…and from that day on I think began falling for her.” I was understandably suspicious. “Just let me explain, you see as I grew older I was eager to reach her age. I loved her since I was 8…but as I grew she, stayed the same.” He turned to me with a sorrowful expression. “When I was ten my parents said they were moving to another province, it was then I confessed my love to her. I promised that when I returned I would marry her, but.” His face became more sorrowful as the sun changed. His hands were between his thighs his head held down. “It’s been ten years and she hasn’t aged, not one day. Looking back, I realize that she looks the same today as she did back then when she saved me.” “That’s not possible, are you insinuating that she’s somehow…immortal?” Many mages had tried using aether to gain immortality, but not one in all of Exzalia had succeeded. And this man expects me to believe he’s in love with an ageless twelve year old? “Rrrright, I’m going to send up that panic spell now.” I scoffed. He sighed accepting his fate. “Go ahead; I don’t blame you for not believing.” He looked utterly defeated and I wondered. Could it be he was telling the truth? He did not have the look of one who would do harm, his eyes were youthful and sad. Perhaps, there was truth to his story. “Look, say your story is true what were you planning to do?” I asked him. He sighed, “I just want to figure out what’s going on with her. Is she a ghost? A divine? Is she even real?” “Then we’ll ask her!” I said jumping up from my bench. “What?! I-I can’t do that!” he said also jumping up in objection I smirked. “For a horn dog you sure are shy. I’ll come with you and we’ll get to the bottom of this together.” With that I marched off towards the city with pervert…er I mean Vash in tow pleading that I change my mind. “Come on just forget about it. Hey just pretend it never happened you don’t have to do this. Look I’ll eve-"I whirled around and poking his nose with my finger I proclaimed. “Listen up pervert horn dog! If you don’t solve this mystery you’ll never live with yourself. You will go through your entire life wondering what may have been. Do you want that!?” He slowly shook his head, his name drawing stares from everyone on the street. “Tomorrow we find out what’s up with the love of your life, right when the moon turns back into the sun okay?” He nodded, and then walked away still flushed and awkward, a love struck child he was. Suddenly, he turned as if he forgot something. “What’s your name?” he asked. I put my fists on my hips and proclaimed. “I am Tess! The great adventurer, traveling all of Exzalia in my never ending quest to unlock its secrets.” I bowed afterwards drawing more stares from passing people, he smiled at me. “Thanks Tess, for believing my story.” “Get some sleep horn dog. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He left looking strangely happy he was defiantly an awkward guy. One could barely call him a man, still just a boy at heart, a boy whose heart was tied to an ageless girl. I walked back to the inn where I would stay the night Ignoring the drunken laughs and merriment I went to my room. Agelessness, was that possible? I know elves lived a very long time but she clearly was human. I scratched my head; all that I had seen and learned gave me no clues. I crawled into the bed; frustrated with my lack of theories, guess I would just have to wait for tomorrow. I prayed to Origin of all, wrote the days events in my unreasonably large journal, and tried to sleep. But sleep never came; my mind was rife with the possibilities idea’s. What could be the answer? I eagerly awaited the dawn. The moon shimmered with aether steadily reddening before sending out a blast of light and warmth that signaled the start of a new...
This list represents Manolia's power as currently in her story. (the one I'm working on right now) Magnolia relies on brute power and disruption to attain victory, she wields light, fire and dark aether. Bab (Bread and butter moves.) Light squall: a small fast but weak spell that explodes n a bright flash of light, blinding anything too close temporarily. searing flame: A light/fire spell with below average power, if target is hit the target feels as though he is set on fire. Seeking flame: a mid power spell, seeking flame tracks the target until it hits, it has average speed. P/F (Power finisher moves) Comet storm: Fire 20 seeking flames at once, nearly unevadeable. average speed to cast but flames move slower than average. Nova: One of the most powerful midrange attacks in Exzalia a blinding blast of energy is released. There's enough power to blow up a small town however the eather and blast is concentrated in a 10 meter radios. Anything in side the 10 meter radios will take insane damage and suffer a blinding effect, anything outside will be unfazed. slow to weave but once cast happens instantly, the spell is made of both fire and light eather summon Avenging flame dijin: A fiery dijin is summoned with great power and speed. if Magnolia takes damage the dijin gets doubled in speed and power. SP (Support/ disruption) Pyrosurge: The power of fire is drawn from with in, all fire magic gets doubled in power, duel spells with fire eather also get doubled in power. Dark favour: Magnolia damages her own soul to obtain more power, a very dangerous move, you can continue to sacrifice your life force as much as you want but you get weaker and risk dieing. Triples the power of all offensive attacks. Light squall: see above soul sense: allows her to sea the life forces of others, has a five mile radios. Can see through cloaking. Consume light: Drains the light in a one mile radius, not a single light ray is left until the spell is lifted or destroyed. (Note the combo with soul sense.) Wild fire : sets the field a blaze, things burnt by the eather fire get converted into more fire eather she can use, more effective if things are flammable. healing light: heals a moderate amount of damage but works rather slowly, does not cure status effects. D moves (Defensive moves) Blinding shield: The target becomes blind temporarily if it looks at the shield, also blocks in coming attacks with average durability. Flash shield: The most effective defensive mid range spell Flash shield can block anything in it's tier of moves. But it's weakness comes in that it only lasts an instant, timing is everything. By this point in the story, Magnolia is a fair bit stronger than the average mage yet is still some ways from being master level.
most creatures on Exzalia can use eather in one way or another, and it can be weaved in so many ways all mages soon develop their own combat styles. Remembering it all can be difficult at times, so I'm making a list of each character and the moves they know. It's for my personal use but I'm blogging so if your curious you can have a peek. also these templates will change as the character grows stronger. Tess, a half human half merfolk boy of 15 years of age, agile and tricky he relies on speed and his unpredictability to over come hostile threats. bab (Bread and butter moves) Arcane bolt, a fast quick lightning spell with average power causes arcane paralysis if it hits the opponent Ice drop. Fast to weave slow to travel if it hits it explodes in a blast of water which instantly freezes, trapping the opponent in a block of ice. secondaryeaffect is it slows the eather of the opponent. Summon thunder eel: Summons a giant eel that shoots arcane bolts. relatively strong and fast with strong anti physical qualities. PF move (Power finisher moves) Scaled: Slow to cast but powerful and can be pumped continuously, Tess shoots boiling hot water at the target, the water is as hotter than lava and can melt almost anything. SD (Support, disrupt moves) bubble trap: Creates invisible weaves on the ground, if target steps into the weave then the target is trapped inside a giant bubble, the bubble explodes if popped Disrupting geyser: a rush of water aether hits the opponent from below sending him into the air, secondary affect is that the targets spell become diluted with the wrong eather. frost beam: average power, a icy beam is fired with speed at target, if hit the target eather is slowed. also freezes some what. conductive air: a field affect, any one with in range of the battle field will get hit by any lightning spells cast, including the caster. Thunder drain: an enchantment put on him self, electric attacks become partially absorbed and give him extra power. (Note the combo with conductive air) and finally, frost bolt: Lightning that shocks and freezes on contact, all energy opponents use eather or other wise become twice as slow and twice as hard to control. does above average damage. one of the few moves on Exzalia that combined three elements water, fire, and wind in this case. Tess is slightly stronger than the average battle mage despite his age, he is strong determined, but very immature at times.
“When you’re young, you believe yourself immortal” Memories from My child hood flash through my head. 14 years of age, I was such a tomboy. Short hair, dirt covered jeans, racing alongside my peers bolting across the field. A race, an expression of our youth done merely because we could, the sun against our backs our lungs pounding, we were strong. I lay in my bed 21 years later, staring up at the ceiling in my one room home. False stars made of cheap plastic give a dull glow, staring back at me. “I mean all humans know they are going to die one day, but deep down we don’t really believe it. It’s like we’re programed to have faith in our continual existence, we believe our life is ours alone and not even death has the right to take it.” I close my eyes and picture more scenes’ from my past, the friends I had made, the friends that have gone. Me driving with them down lone roads, yelling nonsense because we could, smiling, laughing. “I think that’s why we so often put off what’s important in life, why we hold off on our dreams and ignore our passions. We believe we have for ever to fulfill our self’s. And then…” Holding my hand to my face I observed it, delicate and soft, this was me. “One day you wake up in the dead of night. You realize my god! My life is half over and I’ve accomplished nothing.” My arm gets heavy and my hand falls on my forehead. I let out a defeated sigh, I look over to my work cloths sitting rumpled on a chair. An apron, the simple garb of a store clerk. “But even then we don’t learn do we? We still have shreds of our youth still left. We think Oh well I have 40 more years to go, still plenty of time. Knock off ten years to account for being too old to do shit, then slice the remaining number in half to account for you sleeping through half of that, now account for the time you spend taking a shit, being stuck in traffic, going to work, watching tv, eating food. And you realise, you never had anywhere near forty years to begin with.” I stared at the ceiling as if I were a corpse, not moving, barely breathing. Was I…tearing up? God I’m so pathetic. “I have…no one, and nothing to live for. What am I doing with my life?” Two hours pass; sleep refused to visit tonight it was already 2:00. I think of all the old people I saw on the bus yesterday their eyes vacant. No different from the 30 year old janitor I saw in the store, mopping stains off the ground. The worlds filled with broken aspirations, un fulfilled humans envious of the few who did something worth remembering. And I am one of them, I am the norm just another zombie in this joke they call life. I was going to grow old doing this nonsense; I was going to die being a store clerk. Grow old and die…is that all humans are good for? “No there is no such thing as old humans, only old bodies.” I Thought, You can see it in the eyes of the elderly; some still retain a fire to them. I imagine their spirits one wish, to break free from the shackles of mortality and run, if they could I would imagine, the souls of those with old bodies; would run faster and higher than the souls of the youngest most fit humans. Another hour passes; finally my tired body agrees to sleep. As my eyes close thoughts began to fade to nonsense. “Human life is too damn short. Our life spans mock our potential.” I sighed again. “Fuck it, what’s my rambling going to do? I don’t even know what I want in life, never had. Probably never will.” I fell asleep, the plastic stars on my ceiling, were still glowing.
In the far reaches of Exzalia in the land Of Grove there are a secretive group of powerful humans trying to do the impossible. They are the Farians and their goal is perfection. On top of mount Glitter void, a Snow free mountain that sparkles, There the Fareians try to rid the selves of every human flaw imaginable. Old age, sickness, war, disease. They have been there for thousands of years, no one in the out side world as of yet, have seen how close they have gotten. In their eyes humans are doomed to eternal suffering; never to rise above the constant cycle of pain. This is do to our imperfections, but humans have been struggling and with some success to rid them selves of these flaws. But how far can we go? will we ever reach the day that we will have world peace? no hunger? no death? The fareians believe so, and using powerful magic they are attempting to rid them selves of every. human. flaw. What, will become of this endeaver? They say nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it, so if a thousand humans put their minds to being the best they could be, could they become, perfect? And if we they did become perfect, what part of their humanity would they have to sacrifice in order to obtain it? If one is perfect, can that one still be called human? The Fareians would say no, one who is perfect is God. In other words, the Fareians are trying to become God. Of all the things humans have ever tried to achieve, this is the ultimate in ambition. Only time will tell if they achieve their goal. (Ps this is the story I am working on now.)
Each and every fable I have told and will tell is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak. What I mean is each one has a much deeper story behind them. fable of Lethross, fable of the origin tree, fable of the dragon child, ect, ect. All of them are small prolouges to much bigger stories. So don't view these posts as trivial creative expressions, huge stories are behind each one. and if you know the original fable, you'll understand the story better. Fell free to tell me which one interests you the most
It opened it's mouth and swallowed the fish, it was not satisfied. So it opened it's mouth again and swallowed the first sea, and then the second. But it was still hungry, so again it opened it's mouth and swallowed the seventh sea, it seemed it would swallow all of Exzalia. The mers cried out to it their god, to have mercy on them. O Lethross thou great leviathan will you swallow all of us as well? But he heeded not our calls, we were all but doomed. But alas! a hero appeared as it again opened it's maw. Misven charmer of the waves. Magic poured from her lips like honey and drifted into the wind, A song, a song she sang! Exzalia's first siren. She sang all day and all night as Lethross devoured the seas and then, Eyes larger than mountains began to close, it's maw as wide as the sky shut tight. It sank beneath what is left of Exzalia's seas And now Lethross the great, slumbers at the bottom of Exzalia's deepest trench. three oceans, still in its bowls. Who dares wake him?
