Just some thoughts I put down on paper, I'm sorry if my stream of consciousness is not easy to follow or just impossible to read, I just wanted to give this blog section a try. There will probably be errors, I didn't check it thoroughly. I didn't even read it, to be honest. *** Number 5% (The Prisoner?) Remember your first day at school, when you climbed those stairs not knowing what to expect? Do you remember sitting there, in class thinking “this is not so bad?” Do you remember your first A? You were ready to take on the world, to choose your path and run, as fast as you could, just run towards your goal and everything would be perfect. You would get to become the Everest climbing Fighter Pilot Astronaut Physician Firefighter the world needed. Maybe you'd be a hockey star in your spare time, who knows? Or start a band, why not? Remember your first F? You could still make it, have faith in your capabilities, believe in yourself. Right? Right? Maybe you would not become a Fighter Pilot, to focus on other things, do less and do it better, focus. The whole Astronaut thing seems to take up lot of your time as well, you should probably settle for just higher education, that University everybody goes on about. After all, it's not like you are enjoying school very much, right? Finally you would get to choose, you would get to do something you like. A choice. Because you get to choose, right? Right? Yes, yes! Finally you feel like you can be yourself, you are the king of your world, you make the rules. You have no rules. Probably it's time to consider being a Fighter Pilot Again. Is there an Astronaut degree? But something is still not right. You can feel it. Maybe school is not for you. University is not for you. It's time to pay someone who will tell you who you are, just what you need. A few quick sessions and you will be back on track. Does he want you to take these pills? Go for it. By now, you feel like everything you do is wrong, you are the only one jeopardizing your future. But where did it go wrong? The results of the test you took are in, turns out you are the “5%” of your age group. For some reason you scored higher than the rest 95%, but still can't pass a single exam. You are the 5%, but you still cry when you are face to face with your professor. You are the 5% , but you are stuck working in a fast food restaurant. Can I take your order sir? A well trained monkey. But you keep studying, you are still hungry for knowledge. You learn languages. You study physics, chemical formulas. You watch documentaries and you learn how to take apart and repair an internal combustion engine. You know about marketing, economy, politics. You know everything about basic human anatomy, about physiology. You keep on piling does history books higher and higher, you wonder if a lifetime is enough to read them all. Can I take your order sir? Will you ever become anything but a well trained monkey? If knowledge is power, why are you still in bed? But still, you are the 5% Remember your first day at school?
