Amusing

  1. Just a couple of lines for now.

I just realized that mankind is an amusing creature. I've gone through this site for a long while, almost a year now - and I notice; people get consoled by someone's two-three lines even if they are on their deathbed, though they can't see or hear the person in particular. They don't really know anything about him or her. But still, their few words can make our day. Yet, we are willing to believe they exist, because we can feel them through their words. Okay.

If this is justified, then how can one not feel God? He talks to us in every possible way. Divine revelation, the voice of nature and in my case, His Apostle. He is always listening and talking to you, and then when someone asks you to believe in Him, you say 'I can't see him, can I now?'

    Amusing.

DISCLAIMER: I do not want to offend any atheist/agnostic/etc here, this is just a thought I had and wanted to share it.

Because, to the other person, we are the exact same thing. So if we are really here, then they must be too, right? But we are not Gods...although some people missed that infomercial...so it's hard for some people to believe that there can be a god.

    Just my two cents.

I agree with you, emily. But the miracles of nature and whatsoever signs He has to offer should overwhelm our sense of tangibility. My teacher once said: 'vision is related to matter only and God is beyond matter.' So yeah, one should at least voyage and struggle to discover God without being unbiased.

I do believe in God, I really don't see how you can look outside late at night and not believe there is a God, but I felt like playing Devil's advocate there for a moment.

But you're right. We should all try to find and understand God to the best of our physical abilities.

"An atheist hates death because nothing else remains to enjoy."

    I don't agree with this. :)

Your actual post, on the other hand, is quite wonderful even though I'm agnostic (or maybe even atheist, depending on how one wants to look at things).

Except perhaps the amusing - part. It makes it seem like you've put yourself above others. :-D But I don't think you did mean that.

I don't hate death at all. I think it's beautiful that life ends and it's a big part of the whole experience. And I'm here for good deeds as well and want to stay as long as it's possible.

Oh, and to me all the amazing things in this world are just that, a part of this world. :-D

    *hugs*

That's alright, emily. It's needed sometimes to be able to understand the psyche of atheists.

Hey Rebekkamaria, I didn't make the statement as full and final, but as a general one. I don't know what you expect from death (it's like, finishing in an agnostic's opinion) which makes you fascinate it, but I guess that's alright. As far as the amusing part is concerned, I didn't mean to act proud or anything, but rather a way to invoke pondering.
  7. Rebekkamaria
In return, I hope I didn't insult you. I didn't feel insulted by your post - I just disagree. :-D And I think you have a beautiful way of experiencing things. *hugs*
  8. Charisma
Aww *hugs back* that's alright. Nopes, I didn't feel insult at all. :)

I had to point this out, we are from two completely different religions, well, they really aren't all that different, but still, and yet, we can discuss the topic of religion peacefully.

And I find the same thing with my atheist friends. I've come to the conclusion that it has nothing to do with the actual religion. People just need an excuse to fight.
A fun thought for the night. :)
  10. Charisma
I completely agree with you, emily. :D
  11. Rebekkamaria
I agree too. :-D Oh, you two just made me smile so widely.

I'm glad. And that just bugs me. I was raised in the christian church, and for my entire life I had this predisposition that all non-christians were evil. Especially atheists, and now that I'm older, and have made friends with people from other religions, I know that's not true, and fiercely defend that whenever it comes up in church.

It's stupid to think that way. Allah (Arabic for God, FYI) says that all humans are the same to Him at birth, since all humans are born as pure Muslims as heart. Also, if there are going to be any reverts (seeing the original religion is Islam) to Islam, they must be good people! So you can't say non-Muslims are evil. They may be actually better than you in some ways!
  14. SonnehLee
Yeah, I know it's stupid to think like that, hence, the reason i don't anymore.

I agree with the rest of you, I think its stupid to hate someone because of their religion. In my opinion, you judge someone based off of their actions and intentions, not by what god they pray to.
