Banned?

By rottingsmiles · Apr 15, 2010 · ·
  1. Looking around the site i saw some things that confused me. several memebers have been band -for im sure legitimate reasons- but they still have posts and pages up. why? also it seems like a moderater was banned aswell. what could a mod have done to get banned? i didn't know where to ask these questions so I'm blogging them here where nobody will read them more likely then not.

For the sake of continuity, posts by banned members are not removed. Plus, doing so would be prohibitive when it comes to the time it would take. The posts that caused the bannings are usually removed so that their poison does not continue to affect others, but post that were of a contributive nature are left alone.

As for a mod who was banned. *shrug* It's a touchy subject best left alone. ;)

A mod was banned because he broke the rules. Same as every other banned member.

The mods don't own the site. We are subject to the same rules as everyone else. Sadly, there have been moderators who violated the rules as well, and had to be removed.

Ot may seem like the moderators are all powerful, but we aren't. We work hard to try to keep the atmosphere conducive to growth in writing, and sometimes that means we have to take action against people we have known and respected for months or even years.

However, not all bans are disciplinary, either. On occasion, bans have been placed on moderator accounts when the moderator was away for an extended period -- an unsecured moderator account is a security risk. Sometimes members have requested a ban to start fresh with a new account (members are not allowed to have multiple accounts).

As for why any particular member has been banned, our policy is not to explain except in extraordinary circumstances.
