Celebrities and Public Figures

I got to thinking about the subject of writing about them and ended up making a lengthy blog post about it. Having taken business law, which covers tort (most civil cases are torts, but there are some that aren't) acts, I've got a basic understanding of public figures and the rules applying to slander/defamation. So, to help clarify a bit, I posted the legal definition of both inside the post for people to see.

With that said, however, do not assume that pure definition is everything there is to civil law on the subject. How it applies, and other issues are covered and I challenge the reader to think it over closely before choosing whether or not to use real figures in your writing.
