Decisions, Decisions

  1. I finished my first short story in twenty years last night and I'm looking at it and thinking how much action I have crammed into 9.6k. In some ways it'd make a better novel because I could build upon things more, expand on my character's life. However, I'm trying to sell it as a short story, so I'm conflicted.

While I can sell it as a short story, do I want to write it out as a novel to try to publish it later? "Nightfall" by Isaac Asimov started as a short story and then he made it a novel. In fact, each of the first four 'Foundation' novels started as shorts and/or novellas that were then woven together to make a novel. Maybe I could do this with it.

Either way I'm taking a poll on it over at my main blog to see what people think.
