I finally told my parents about my story.

I'm sorry that your parents don't like your story. Though it did take a lot of guts to show it to them, so congratulations. Good luck with finishing it.

Don't allow the fact they did not dig your story to get you too down. Every story has a venue, they simply are not the venue for this story.

The question is, do you think the story is good and worth continuing?

I hate what I'm going through as far as internal conflict within myself about this. Sometimes, I hate the story and myself for it or for telling them in the first place. But in the end when I go to bed, it is my story and I actually love it and hope to express it, and hope others will be inspired by it. Maybe not always but for now, I stand by myself with this. I may take a while, being that I have a lack of feedback from people.

I'm often faced with the same dilemma; my tales are oft very morbid, and I've gotten the "Are you okay? Do you need a therapist?" comment a few times from several different people.
"No, Mom. Writing -is- my therapy."

As long as you like your story, which you very much seem to, I say go for it. However, if you anticipate the static reaction, I would share it with someone who appreciates it more.

Boy, same issue with my parents. My stories are morbid because I tend to explore the darker parts of life so that people who are shadowed from it face it head on.
