Obamamania

  1. Very soon it will all be over... Obama will be inaugurated, and we can all **** off back to our lives.

I know this blog isn't going to go down well, given that Obama is currently more popular than God, but I'm really getting annoyed with this.

I have nothing against Obama, don't get me wrong. I think it's wonderful that he's been elected, and great for America that they've taken the step of electing their first African-American president, but he's not my president, why does this all have to be rammed down my throat? Yesterday I was watching BBC news, because the government were making drastic announcements about bank bailouts. Very important stuff. Yet whilst this was being debated in the commons, the BBC in their infinite wisdom treated us all to Obama painting a wall. A ****ing wall! I don't live in the US, and whilst I know US policy will impact me, I don't see why this crap should outweigh the domestic politics and policies of my own country? It's bloody ridiculous, and it's been going on for over a year now.

Like I said, I have nothing against Obama, but I have everything against blind hero worship. Maybe he is the second coming of Christ, but until there's some kind of evidence to support that, can we not keep to some kind of normality and sanity? Roll on the inauguration so we can all go home...

Imagine how it feels to be a BLACK AMERICAN with an Obamamite as a best friend:rolleyes:

I, too, am proud of our country, but he is still just a man. He broke barriers, wonderful:D

I agree with you, Matt, but for different reasons. He is just man. I am afraid that the US will ask him to walk on water. Not a very fair expectation given the big bag of hot mess he is being handed.

I am excited about this as well. I voted for him, and I think he will do a fine job.

However, I worry today for all the people who are in Washington DC - because it would be an excellent target for terror today.

I worry that too much pressure is being place on him and his presidency. What happens when he makes mistakes? Because everyone makes mistakes. How can he possibly live up to all of this?

Hey, cheer up. The same thing happened to the US for the Royal Wedding. I remember the coverage starting at 5am in the summertime and pre-empting all other programs for the rest of the day and night. And that was before cable, so we didn't have a lot of channels. Yeah, I'm old.... LOL

Is this really being pushed so hard in the UK? I mean here its all Obama this, Obama that, and everything is about Obama, then there are all the people that are Republicans here that can't get over themselves...I chooses to be indifferent. I mean I'm in the 9th grade and there are "Political Wars" in my grade.....it totally pisses me off.

Yes. It's being pushed very hard here. And there is no objective reason to it. At least over there they can claim that its important because its your government.

And I can't comment on the Royal Wedding Sailor, as I wasn't alive then :p But if it was half as bad as this, you have my sympathies.

Is there any chance you Brits would take us back as a colony? I'd rather be a "royal subject" than an Obama supporter. This moron seeks to rebuild America in the imade of South Chicago...his ONLY political experience in life! Class warfare, massive welfare, surrender of our sovereign authority the United Nations, porous borders (a welcome sign for terrorists), diminished military budget. Ah yes, Obama leadership has great promise...for those with their hands out to government! BTW - the stock market has dropped 12% in just the last week in "preparation" for the anti-business, anti-investment, deficit-spending government to come. In fact, if you want a window into the Obama future...look at what people with similar views did to California. We're bankrupt! State employees are going to be paid in "I O U"s and tax refunds are going to be non gegotiable vouchers, payable at some arbitrary time the the future...never mind that the people receiving the refunds PAID in the money and DESERVE to get their money back!

Well, here's the really good news...Nancy Pelosi IS one of the architects of California's fiscal failure. Now she gets to join Obama and "lead" the whole damn nation. Jesus Christ...we're screwed!

God save the Queen...we Americans may need her!

Tell us how you REALLY feel, NaCl - LOL.

It'll be interesting to see if anything different happens after all this. I generally despise all politicans equally.

I think a lot of them mean well, but making anything really happen in Washington isn't as easy as they think.
