When I have writers block on a story I just stop writing that story and give it a break. I'll usually work on some other story idea or listen to music which tends to inspire stories in my head. There really is no way to get rid of it, and if you try to power through it it won't end up good. Just give your mind a rest and it'll come back to you.

Writers block is a tough one to get through for some. What I do is work on several projects and when I get WB on one, I switch to the other, until I am ready to come back to the one that gave me WB.
Another good idea is to move to a location that can inspire you to focus on your writing...a library, university or even a book store coffee shop so you can get your mojo shaking again. Another thing to try is to go out with some other writers and challenge yourselves to a write off or have a write off party. All of these may assist you to get past WB. Rock on...

Do NOT stop writing. A novel is a game of momentum. Best thing is to sit at your desk and just THINK about the story. It's not a waste of time. Play it out in your head and see where it goes. It only takes a few days for me and anyone i've shared this with to get back into it.
    Good luck.

PS: This is advice from Stephen King. It works. Also, a familiar location is the best; all you need to do is block out the outside world with music (nothing specific... I listen to Classical sometimes. Stephen king listens to AC/DC).
