In this day and age, most of, well, everything can be found on the Internet. And, a fairly considerable part of this 'everything' is in Blogs.
Now, I realised a while ago that if I was going to become a fully-fledged member of this site, I would at least do you the privilege of writing a blog. And that was when I asked myself a terrifying question.
A question that I found I could not answer.
What the hell is a blog?
To answer this, I asked one of my closest friends (who, for legal reasons we shall call Dave), for his opinion.
His response was to show me his own blog, which I found to be quite strange. Then, I finally began to catch on.
"So, it's like a diary, then?"
Tom --uh-- Dave gave me the oddest look I have ever seen.
Apparently, a blog is not a diary.
So, I still had no idea what a blog was, other than it was not a diary. This was going well. I decided to look at the blogs featured on this site and discovered that a blog is not simply about one thing, it can be whatever you want it to be. Whatever you want to write about.
A big problem when you never know what you want.
For a while, I toyed with the idea of posting excerpts from my book, as I have seen others do. Then, I changed my mind. I was going to do a topical blog, informing the world about the happenenings here in England. Uh, no... I won't do that.
Suddenly an idea came to me. Why don't I just sit down and write whatever I was thinking at that moment. Unfortunately, that thought was "I have no idea how to write a blog."
I got as far as this sentence before I gave up.
