Born in Philadelphia, Courtney J. Hall’s writing career began when she figured out how much fun it was to make words rhyme. Her first poem, an ode to autumn, was written when she was in first grade and recited over the intercom system at Edgewood Elementary School. By the mid-1990s, she was a staff member of her high school’s nationally-acclaimed literary magazine, Windscript, and contributed both feature stories on subjects high school students don’t care about and mediocre poetry. Somehow she managed to win several Keystone Awards from the Pennsylvania School Press Association. Since then she has seen some embarrassingly melodramatic short stories and angst-riddled poems featured in several international literary publications. Most recently, her writing has been steadily improving thanks to the Pennwriters Area 6 critique group, of which she’s been an active member since June 2008.
Courtney now lives with her husband of four years in Media, Pennsylvania and is working on her first novel, a historical romance straddling the reigns of Bloody Mary Tudor and Elizabeth I, which she hopes to publish through Five Directions Press by late 2012 or early 2013.
