After a three and a half year sojourn in Norfolk, England, I'm relocating back home to Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm a graphic designer, writer, publisher, and certified permaculture designer, committed to walking the sustainable path of resilience, with my lifestyle and work exemplifying society's necessary transition to a low carbon future.
* * *
I was born the same year as rock 'n' roll, just as Elizabeth II was crowned and the summit of Mt. Everest reached.
My childhood heroes included Zorro, Superman and the Three Stooges. The best thing that happened to me was learning to read.
There followed the psychedelic cornucopia the 1960's – when my young mind was expanded, my awareness sobered by war, racial troubles, assassinations.
The 1970's ushered in the struggle of adulthood: negotiating Army life, becoming (and eventually un-becoming) a husband; crashing, burning, but overall, enjoying my life – if perhaps partying too much.
The 1980's were socially and financially prosperous: great job, another marriage, lots of friends and creative projects. All that, too, vanished, though happily, the decade ended well.
Throughout the 1990's, I ranged widely through the Wisdom of the Ages … and played my guitar.
The new millennium brought new friends and my soul-mate. We moved to England, where I discovered permaculture: all about earth care, people care, fair share and creating resilient, sustainable systems. Now, nearing 60, I'm designing my life and my world accordingly.
What's next for me? It's quite simple, really: Keep on rockin'. Rule my own life wisely. Gain the heights.
