Walt Batycki

Walt Batycki has had a curious life full of variety and adventure. A graduate of the California Institute of the Arts film school, he majored in story development and animation, and later graduated from the UCLA professional screenwriting program. Walt worked for several years in the entertainment industry in character animation, designing theme park attractions, screenwriting, TV series production, and video game design. Former employers of Walt Batycki include Walt Disney Imagineering, Rough Draft Studios, Dreamworks, and Electronic Arts. Walt left behind steady creative work to spend several intense years working in animal rescue and rehabilitation at one of the nation's leading farm animal rescues. During Walt's non-profit years he managed barn staff, and became the facilities animal health care director working directly with veterinarians and often fostering special needs animals in his own home. During those busy years on the farm, a story that had been brewing in Walt's imagination for years began to finally gel and become Shadow Rabbit.

Walt currently lives in New York State's beautiful Hudson Valley with a son he adores, and when he isn't busy with freelance writing, illustration, or game design assignments he volunteers at local animal rescue organizations. Walt also busies himself with an improvisational comedy group he performs with, and volunteering at a community run dance group. Walt does not sleep much, but when he does he dreams, and when he is awake he tries to share those dreams.
